Leaked Audio Proves Mainstream Media Cheers On Trump's Bigotry For Profit

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Deirdre Fulton via TheAntiMedia.org,

Even as large swaths of the population call for media outlets to do their part in stemming the “dangerous tide of hatred, violence, and suspicion” taking hold in the United States, corporate media - which stands to benefit nicely from the $5 billion 2016 presidential election - is egging on that same divisive rhetoric.

“Go Donald! Keep getting out there!” CBS Corporation chief executive Les Moonves reportedly said during an investor presentation Monday.

Trumpeting the advertising dollars already flowing CBS’s way as a result of the crowded 2016 GOP presidential primary, Moonves said:

“We love having all 16 Republicans candidates throwing crap at each other — it’s great. The more they spend, the better it is for us.”

And, you know, this is fun, watching this, let them spend money on us, and we love having them in there,” he declared. “We’re looking forward to a very exciting political year in ’16.”

Writing for The Intercept, Lee Fang notes that “[t]he call took place right around the same time Trump announced his intention to bar Muslim immigrants from entering the United States, suggesting the CBS chief didn’t know about that yet.”

However, Fang continues, “Moonves’ remarks came after months of similar rhetoric from Trump, including claims that the Mexican government is sending rapists into the U.S. and statements supporting a registration system for Muslim Americans.”

As Common Dreams and others have reported, media companies are positioned to benefit from the unlimited campaign spending corrupting the U.S. political system. As Moonves said in 2012, “Super PACs may be bad for America, but they’re very good for CBS.”

Duh!

If the Media can't offer "Shock Value", then they HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER!

Trump knows this and plays them like a fiddle!

He gives them relentless "shock", they make money and Trumps gets 24x7 coverage that SUFFOCATES his competitors!

PS> When was bigotry redefined as calling it like it is?

The Protocol plans are moving forward smoothly.  Pit religion against religion... pit race against race... pit culture against culture... divide and conquer.  So obvious to those with eyes to see and brain to think.  What outcome did we expect when our controllers falsely drove us into bombing, maiming, killing and destroying middle-eastern peoples and their countrys' infrastructures?  Did we think they would willingly stay to wallow in their misery while at the same time loving and respecting us in the West?

Trump is half right.  We do need to kick a certain religious sect out of our countries... and it ain't Islam.

Bush's plan to "Bring Peace to the Middles East" required that he destroy it first...and, in a warped, ironic way, he was right...the only way there will EVER be peace in the ME is when one religion conquers the other...even then, peace will be short lived as the “winners” try to “decide” who will rule over, and profit the most, from the newly conquered.

"We do need to kick a certain religion out of our countries... and it ain't Islam."

One idiot yesterday actually posted that "Christianity deosn't spread by force"...yeah, right...of course the Bible was quoted as a "source"...

A. Is "God" Christian?

B. Is G. Bush "Christian"

C. Did "God" provide a "Plan" for G. Bush?

He thinks so....

'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did." "And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East'. And, by God, I'm gonna do it." - George Bush.

If ABC is true, then God USED MAN to KILL MUSLIMS in order "spread his love for them" and "give them" CHRISTIAN flavored "Freedom and Democracy"...and that's not spreading Christianity by force?

Christianity requires following the teachings of Christ.  As such, Christianity cannot be spread by force because that would be acting against the teachings of Christ and so unchristian.

i'd say i'm in the anti-organized/institutional religion camp, too.  but your argument doesn't hold water.  athiestic communism is responsible for FAR more deaths in the last century than all religious creeds put together.

most religions -- with the exception of islam -- do not endorse nor advocate the killing of others.  they may at times be utilized as an excuse or to rally the people to common cause, but not as a doctrinal necessity.  instead of manufacturing soliloquies on behalf of world leaders past, why not give us some clear example of non-islamic religion (specifically christianity) and its role in justifying bloodshed.

The Crusades: A History - by Jonathan Riley-Smith

"...Christ's wishes for mankind were associated with a political system or course of political events in this world. For the crusaders his intentions were embodied in a political conception, the Christian Republic, a single, universal, transcendental state ruled by him, whose agents on earth were popes, bishops, emperors and kings. A personal commitment to its defence was believed to be a moral imperative for those qualified to fight."

Liberals try to prevent unwanted babies..and kill them if necessary.

Conservaties give them life; then wash their hands of the issue when those children end up living in trash dumps, searching for food and dying horrible deaths.

Which is more evil?

the problem here is which Christ

- the one that let them crucify him just to make a non-violent point, teaching love and understanding even for enemies... or

- the muscular, thriumphant one that kicks ass, like the one Crusaders followed?

The Problem of Which Christ is old, it was already present at the schism between the Catholic and the Orthodox Churches

Islam, frankly, made it even worse. Because you know what happens according to Islam at the End of Times?

Christ returns and kicks ass... against the enemies of Islam. Yup, Jesus is The Hero of Islamic End Times, battling the Anti-Christ and folding his arms around all true believers

religion is a good thing that becomes a bit troublesome... depending from the dose. "How Much" is the ever present question. More isn't always... better

Today, with all the technology and the massive flow of information, it seems Truth is even more elusive. Especially with the State having the control of the media in the background.

I reject the assumption that Trump's comments/views on immigration or Islamists reflect bigotry.  Americans should have the right to upsize or downsize the number of immigrants that come into the country, plus modify this process.  During times of heightened risk, slow/stop the flow for a while.

And Islam isnt a race or ethnicity.  It's a violent, aggressive political ideology.

To clarify, I'm not making a point about the things Trump says.  Just the media phenomenon.  And in American politics these days, the media phenomenon is what matters.

People talk about Nixon's sweaty-faced weasel-eyed five o'clock shadow and how that lost him the 1960 Presidential election, and it's only been more so every time since.  Maybe the 1964 election was actually about issues and politics.  1968 and 1972 were about backlash against scary dirty hippies.  Carter was more telegenic than Ford.  Reagan was vastly more telegenic than Carter or Mondale.  Anybody was more telegenic than Dukakis.  Clinton has always been, and will always be, better TV than GHWB or Bob Dole.  GWB was far better TV than Al Gore or John Kerry.  Barrack Obama is far better TV than McCain or Romney.

So, who on the scene today is better TV than Donald Trump?  Anybody?  Buehler?  It's been at least 40 years, if not more than 50 years, since the candidate who was worse TV won.  Donald Trump IS TV.  Sleazy "Reality TV" combined with Pro Wrasslin', at that.

Mike Judge  over-estimated the time-lapse by about 490 years.

Never seen the American Media machine in anything outside of “our biasing goes to 11” save for immediately after 9/11 and even that didn’t last. Here in Canada the CBC can spin a pretty nice story but CNN, NBC, Fox, PBS and the others can put enough english on the ball to play tennis against themselves without a wall in sight.

Interesting.

I'm not sure if Trump is a bigot or not.  I don't think I care, myself.  What he clearly is is an opportunist, and a fine one at that.  If he weren't he'd have lost all his dad's money by now.  Once succeeds in business, and particularly in the Real Estate and Media businesses to the extent that one is an opportunist.

I have no idea what Trump really believes in.  He may believe in nothing at all.  He sees that about 20% of Americans, at any given time, want violent revenge against whomever they vaguely or acutely resent.  And if they're not able to personally act out their revenge fantasies, they want to watch while somebody else does it, and then maybe get in a few kicks to the groin of somebody, anybody, who can't fight back.

In America, half the eligible voters don't vote.  20% will only vote for a Democrat.  20% will only vote for a Republican.  Elections are decided by which candidate can get 5% +1 vote out of the remaining 10% of the electorate.  Getting to that total each new election is the challenge.  Reagan did it by bringing in the Evangelicals, who had been up to that point fairly apolitical.  Thanks a ton, Ronnie.  Clinton appealed to young voters and black people, just as Obama has done.  Disappointing those voters 4 times in 20 years doesn't bode well for HRC.  Trump may very well have found the source of his 5% +1 votes among the nativists, the geopolitically oblivious, and those who don't have the education, intelligence or adaptability to gain the socio-economic status they think they're entitled to.

Trump's also tapping into an age-old and frightening truth.  Anytime a war-loving people wallow in self-pity for a long enough time, horrible things happen.  We're getting to that point, and Trump has more than enough media-savvy to position himself to profit from that.

Damn, I was starting to have high hopes for you, Chris.

You seem to think there's a difference between Obama, Clinton, Trump, and any other fascist?  You're holding the binoculars backwards.

Don't get too romantic about the working and middle class, either.  Whom do you think loves this fascist bullshit the most?  The real fact is, feudalism never went away.  And who loves the aristocrats more than those standing on the second rung of the ladder, stomping down on everyone on the lowest rung.

Why do you think less-educated whites are so drawn to Trump?  Because they share so much in common?  Or because he's promising them he'll let them beat the shit out of the people just below them on the ladder?  There are an awful lot of "Me Too! Kids" in America.  The "Me Too! Kid" isn't the bully who beats you up.  On the schoolyard, the bully kicks your ass.  While you're lying there groaning, the kid who didn't have the guts to fight you comes up and kicks you in balls and yells, "ME TOO!"  They're all voting for Trump.

You want to find some real fascist bastards, of course it's the Elites at the top skimming off all the gravy.  But how do they get away with it?  By pitting the nearly impoverished against the truly impoverished.  They actually think their obsequious loyalty to the Elites will be rewarded.  Next time it is will be the first.  Feudalism is a real bitch.

Clinton's NAFTA was a symptom, not a cause.  Why did it pass?  Because factory owners had already closed all their US factories and fucked over all their US lower-class employees.  They just didn't want to pay any import duties on their now-foreign-made goods.  The damage had already been done long before.

You think Donald Trump won't line his own pockets while condescendingly pretending he loves NASCAR?  You think he won't hand Social Security over to the tender mercies of Wall Street while eating chickenfried steak on a stick at the Missouri State Fair?

Have I got some real-estate for you.

Gonna gamble, just so we can have more multiculturalism? Things not unsteady enough yet, not enough total strangers with unknown motives walking our streets? Not enough native born being radicalized into killers? And what 'religion' are you talking about? That is a matter of definition.

The Constitution and policies of our government do not exist to secure the rights of aliens. Nor do they countenance a political system of revolution, complete with sanctioned violence, within our borders. That threat remains in place because of our lack of appreciation of its nature. Until recently we have assumed that it is a religion, and not a blueprint for theocratic tyranny on the heels of violent revolution.

@atomicwasted - Are we currently at war? Yes. Have we not been at war with Islamic countries since 2001? Yes. That's actually all the more reason to shut down immigration. Never before have we taken in immigrants from the countries we are at war with. I know, I know, "terrorism" is not a country, but just do a quick check on where we have boots on the ground and current operations.

And were we at war for the entire time between 1924 and 1965? Of course not. And of course we were not at war with China, when it became clear that letting in thousands of Chinese immigrants was not in the country's best interests.

Please, crack open a history book, and specifically look at Chinese immigration policy, before you go into "keyboard warrior" mode and just make a fool of yourself.

I love the way that  libertarian minded ZH/Tyler play both sides of the despotic divide; Big Business and Tea Party false noses; one against the other.

Optimates vs Populares; As witnessed by ZH as the neo-Cicero, the moralist who writes about  the neo-ROman Republic's coming demise.

All the while tearing into the "statist" Keynesian neo-faustian game of CB printing and monetary debasemet. Under the aegis of ZH's ARCH-ENEMY : the GS Squid; architects of  the Neo-Catilinarian Conspiracy of our age.

So as an altermedia blogsite ZH defends free market orthodoxy in Ron Paul's Stoical mantra of "destroy the FED and give us back the gold standard"; all the while pouring oil on the fire of neo-Sylla's Oligarchical  global construct as it resists Obama's role of Populares statist leader neo-Marius.

Neo-Cicero of ZH deplores the fall of neo-Roman republic in this tug of war for hegemony in Mare Nostrum!

Which tug of war according to ZH will ensure that the Republican state comes down in flames and is likely; given the dangerous economic spiral; to be replaced by a faceless proxy for those very Oligarchs, one who will promote a DESPOTIC USA once the market has collapsed.

Now where this neo-narrative gets interesting is that what follows contradicts the historically analogous thread of Cicero's life who depised Caesar's despotism in its triumphal march to replace the corrupted Republic entrapped in civil war.

ZH by being on both sides of the divide laughs at the weakening pillars of US democracy teetering in the tempest all the while applauding the rise of populist dictatorship.

From Charybdis to Scylla we thus could fall..."but its not our fault for being the scribes of this awesome reset. We just write the day by day scenario of this imperial demise."...

Well Cicero you be... but unlike Cicero... do you applaud neo-Caesar as SAVIoUR of the US from ongoing civil war's past dystopia OR NOT?

Ave Trump the saviour or down with Trump the bigot?

I'm confused...neo-Cicero does stutter !

PS : Kudos to Anti-media.org for keeping the pressure up on the chicanery of the neo-neo-con GOP shenanigans and "confuse em" with Trumpism cabal.

One persons truth is anothers bigotry.

Haven't seen the articles here about Obama's bigotry towards those clinging to their guns and religion, or those evil people on the 'no-fly' list he was hatin on.

Welcome to Huffpo lite.

This is beyond stupid.

Another false charge by the Open Borders crowd based on the naive idea that cultures and polities are fungible, which is the bigotry of the statist, who wants to introduce as much disorder into society in order to have statists declare that all associations other than the state are useless and anachronistic so that the individual stands alone, naked and afraid against the state, who will offer them protection and order from the chaos they've created.
