Living A Lie

The lies we tell ourselves are only exceeded by the lies perpetrated by those controlling the levers of our society. We’ve lost respect for ourselves and others, transforming from citizens with obligations to consumers with desires. The love of mammon has left our country a hollowed out, debt ridden shell of what it once was.  When I see the data from surveys about the amount of debt being carried by people in this country and match it up with the totals reported by the Federal Reserve, I’m honestly flabbergasted that so many people choose to live a lie. By falling for the false materialistic narrative of having it all today, millions of Americans have enslaved themselves in trillions of debt. The totals are breathtaking to behold:

  • Total mortgage debt – $13.6 trillion ($9.9 trillion residential)
  • Total credit card debt – $924 billion
  • Total auto loan debt – $1.0 trillion
  • Total student loan debt – $1.3 trillion
  • Other consumer debt – $300 billion

With 118 million occupied households in the U.S., that comes to $145,000 per household. But, when you consider only 74 million of the households are owner occupied and approximately 26 million of those are free and clear of mortgage debt, that leaves millions of people with in excess of $200,000 in mortgage debt. Keeping up with the Joneses has taken on a new meaning as buying a 6,000 sq ft McMansion with 3% down became the standard operating procedure for a vast swath of image conscious Americans. When you are up to your eyeballs in debt, you don’t own anything. You are living a lie.

The lie was revealed as housing bubble burst and national home prices plummeted by 30%, resulting in millions of foreclosures, the worst recession since the Great Depression and homeowners equity falling to an all-time low of 38%. The Fed induced 2nd housing bubble has convinced millions to believe the lie again. The Fed easy money, Wall Street buy and rent scheme, with the FHA acting as the new purveyor of 3% down mortgages, has artificially boosted homeowners equity back to 57% just in time for the next housing collapse. Living a lie will result in more pain and suffering for those who didn’t learn the lesson last time.

At least there is an asset capable of appreciation backed by the mortgage debt. Auto loans are backed by a rapidly depreciating asset, while credit card debt allows Americans to live above their means while living their lie, and student loans  are the new subprime debt which will never get repaid. The country has been living a Big Lie since the day Nixon closed the gold window in 1971, eliminating any vestiges of constraint upon central bankers and politicians.

The Fed has continuously debased the currency and politicians have promised voters freebies while waging never ending wars of choice, creating a warfare/welfare empire of debt totaling $18.7 trillion with unfunded promises of $200 trillion. The masses have been lied to by bankers and their mass media mouthpieces, while willfully buying into the lie of living for today and funding it with debt. An entire society bought into the fallacy that a country could transition from savings and investment to borrowing and consuming, with no adverse consequences. The mass delusion is clearly evident in the comparative consumer debt data from 1971:

US population in 1971 – 208 million
Total credit card debt 1971 – $8.5 billion ($41 per capita)
Total auto loan debt 1971 – $40.5 billion ($195 per capita)

US population in 2015 – 320 million
Total credit card debt 2015 – $890 billion ($2,781 per capita)
Total auto loan debt 2015 – $1.03 trillion ($3,219 per capita)

The population of the US has grown by 54% since 1971, but the amount of credit card debt per person has grown by 6,782%, and the amount of auto loan debt has grown by 1,650%. Meanwhile, real median household income has grown by 8% since 1971. Replacing income with debt in order to give the appearance of wealth is nothing but a lie. It requires an ever larger amount of debt to generate an additional dollar of GDP. The exponential increase in debt became unsustainable and the Wall Street lies resulted in a global conflagration in 2008. The desperate effort by the Fed to re-inflate the debt bubble through ZIRP and QE has resulted in pathetic economic growth, while leaving willfully ignorant consumers with a record level of debt.

A recent report by Nerdwallet revealed the outrageous amount of consumer debt millions of Americans have chosen to take on in order to live the lives they feel they deserve. And Wall Street is only too willing to oblige them with credit, as they reap riches from the billions of interest paid each year by the debt slaves living on the plantation we call America. In addition to charging away their lives, Americans lie to themselves about how much debt they really have. It’s too painful to deal with reality, so they ignore it. The data in the report is frightening:

  • The amount of credit card debt carried by the average household carrying this type of debt is $15,355.
  • The amount of auto loan debt carried by the average household carrying this type of debt is $26,530.
  • The amount of student loan debt carried by the average household carrying this type of debt is $47,712.
  • The average household is paying more than $6,600 in interest per year, which means that roughly 9% of the average household’s income is being spent on interest alone.
  • Credit card debt — one of the most expensive types of debt — costs consumers an average of $2,630 per year in interest, assuming an average APR of 18%.
  • If you have the average amount of credit card debt ($15,355) and a 15% interest rate and only pay the minimum on that debt each month, it will take you more than 31 years to repay your debt and will cost you more than $18,600 in interest payments alone.
  • The average amount of credit card debt peaked at $16,912 in 2008, fell by 14% to $14,539 by 2012 as Wall Street banks wrote off billions in bad debt, and has since risen by 6% as consumers have been lured back by the Wall Street propaganda machine.
  • Consumers vastly underestimate or under-report how much debt they have. In fact, as of 2013, actual lender-reported credit card debt was 155% greater than borrower-reported balances.

Americans are embarrassed and ashamed by their levels of consumer debt, but they can’t stop. A record number of new cars will be “sold” this year with the highest level of auto loan debt in history, the longest loan length in history, rising percentage of subprime auto loans, and an all-time high in percentage of leases. These people are underwater on their auto loan/lease the second they drive off the lot. But at least their neighbors and co-workers think their successful. Appearances are all that seem to matter in our society today. Dying in debt will be common place in the coming years. Fully 21% of Americans say they don’t think they will be able to pay off their debts — including their car, credit cards, student loans and mortgages — in their lifetime, according to a survey of more than 1,000 adults by CreditCards.com. Our debt addict society is dying of an overdose.

The Fed’s master plan to revive the economy with massive doses of debt has failed. Main Street America is tapped out. Decades of minimal real wage growth, relentless inflation in the things we need to live (food, rent, energy, health care), and wasting money on Chinese produced consumer crap, has left the majority of American households with little or no savings and no disposable income. This is being reflected in the pitiful economic growth and plunge in retail sales since the end of QE3 in October 2014. Our system has become dependent upon exponential debt expansion, and as soon as the spigot is turned off, our economy crashes.

Bernanke chose to not voluntarily abandon the Fed’s failed credit expansion policies in 2008. The end of QE3 and the upcoming interest rate increase by Yellen will usher in financial collapse part two. There is no avoiding a collapse brought on by decades of warped monetary and fiscal policies, and irrational behavior by bankers, corporations and consumers. Even if Yellen reverses course when the economy plunges into a deep recession, catastrophe cannot be avoided.

Our country has gone mad over the last few decades. We had a chance to come to our senses in 2008, wipe away the debt, liquidate the criminal Wall Street banks, prosecute the perpetrators, and reorient our economy and society back to one built upon savings and investment, rather than borrowing and consumption. It was not to be, as Bernanke and the Deep State decided their best interests trumped the interests of the people. The coming collapse hopefully will force Americans to come to their senses one by one.

$200k will only buy you a cracker box in the suburbs of Houston.  But you have no choice but to pay the high prices if you want to get away from the crime and bad schools in the inner city.  Some of those people are not lying about their status in life.  They are desperate and they know it.  If murder, rape and child abduction is not the lifestyle you want then you have to get away and commute to work.  Part of the new normal, like it or not.

The next question is why do we believe? The answer is we cling to what gives us a perception of safety. Therefore, if safety is the goal, it doesn't matter if it is a lie or truth and willful self delusion wins the day.

The biggest nightmare for TPTB is if the masses face their fears, realize safety is an illusion and it is not living life to be manipulated by others. Thankfully for them, this is only an obscure idea to be laughed at during soirée cocktail hour.

Too true. We've effectively spent the last two years of our lives paying off every penny of $14,000 in credit card debt, created mostly out of need.

Now, we have student loans that you can't discharge and a mortgage that is about 50% less than any rent we would pay here in this area, for even a quaint 2-bedroom apartment.

I don't mind that at all.

We? What is this "we"? Do any of us have any power to put a stop to it? The British and the US bombed Dresden, murdering 135,000 non combatent civilians overnight. The claim was that the raid was to 'demoralize' the German people and get them to end the war. What a crock -the average German had no more power to alter the course of their government than we have to alter ours. And TPTB as always just don't care what happens to the 'little people'.

So, what do you suggest? You either 'buy into the system' or you fight it tooth and nail until it either dies or -more likely- kills and defames you. Everyone says the same empty rhetoric, but nobody is willing or able to put forth the solution. (Sadly, there is only one, and it comes with an enormous price; in fact, it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.)

If you read between the lines (one by Thomas Paine btw) then the next time around, when we have exercised the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as  shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. I agree people need to take responsibility -responsibility and power must always be balanced. That is why every time a politician leaves office, there should be a vote to decide if they get a paycheck or a prison sentence. No term limits, just the knowlege that if you screw the people, they will screw back.

I worked outside 37 years in all weather conditions climbing poles, crawling under houses, dragging my 28 ft extension ladder up mountainsides, and sitting in coffin-like manholes to finally emerge debt free and on the plus side with a good retirement.

 Several times I could have filed for bankruptcy, but didn't, and I struggled through the bad times to pay my bills. A couple of guys in my crew did file because they were way underwater with their trophy houses with maxed-out equity lines of credit, $30k pickup trucks, and ridiculously expensive bass boats.

 Consequences for these guys? Not much that I could see. I remember them bragging loudly and proudly about what a great deal it was.

 Was I fool for not taking advantage of the generous bankruptcy laws at the time? Probably, but at the end of the day I had to make a choice:

 Do I maintain my financial integrity, and pay back the debts that I agreed to with a clear conscience, or do I force my creditors to take it on the chin and become just another member of the Free Shit Army.

 I not talking about people with extraordinary financial distress due to illness, death of a breadwinner, natural disaster, etc. These circumstances are precisely why bankruptcy laws were enacted.

 I'm talking about the type that would max out their credit cards to purchase things like silver, then shirk their responsibility off onto others.

There is one small detail missing from your analysis: the very banks and financial institutions that are looting the world are nowadays TBTFs that operate by privatizing profits while socializing debt.

My use of 'bigot' refers to the word's original meaning, which is still defined as such in most European languages. I'm not concerned with exceptionalls inventing new meanings or spellings to established terms ('nuclear' has somehow turned into 'nucular' in the USSA).

The answer to your question about personal responsibility is that as the whole situation is postured right now, society and future generations have as much of a say and choice about paying for the debts and sins of their irresponsible ascendants, as you & your generation can do and say about the 2007-08 bailouts, the Nixon Shock or the 100-year-long devaluation of the dollar. 

The very concept of TBTF is incompatible with a free society (not to mention a 'capitalist' one) where the citizens have a guaranteed right to decide on the most crucial systemic issues. If you consider that it is not the case in the entire Pax Americana world of today (with small exemptions, like Iceland and partially Switzerland), but instead the entire Western society has gradually become centrally operated in a neofeudal fashion, at the same time devolving into militarized and opressive Gendarmeries, then you have arrived at point B.

However, I will reassess my assertions once I see any signs that the serfs are taking things into their own hands.

You're right in saying that a TBTF privatizes profit and socializes its own debts to others. However, the CC company would write your debt to it off, as it was created with zero cost in a ledger. (A TBTF's own debt would be created through betting on/selling your debt, a separate transaction that you did not contract and is not your responsibility. You agreed to give them something for nothing, and if they want to add potential profit by adding risk, that's their problem.) They gave you nothing, and you give them nothing in return. 

The silver miner still got paid, you got silver, nobody got hurt.

Trump has a right to freedom of speech and he has not said anything and is not in the statuates of Immigration currently.  It is incumbent upon our officials to protect this nation and it is in fact job #1.  We can agree that all muslims are not terrorists but note that all terrorists in Europe and here appear to be muslims.  Banning immigration from nations that forment jihad against the West is not far fetched.  No one has a right to immigration to this country.  Note that Carter deported Iranian muslims in 1980 in an effort to stem any jihadi attacks in our country.  Islam HAS A PROBLEM.  In its literal form it calls for the stoning of women, gays, killing the infidels etc.  It is a primitive ideology that masquerades as a religion.  Clearly all muslims do not follow those teachings and many muslims who have assimilated in the West have embraced the American culture.  It is therefore important for them to root out radical jihadis in their midst and speak out at every opportunity to distance themselves from this 6th century barbarism.

There is a whole industry built around making us shallow. Advertising and Public Relations, both used by corporate interests to both mold our buying habits and to mold our world views. The level of their success is mind blowing. Even though Americans go to university at the highest level of any people on earth, the results are shameful at best, 'brain washing' at worst. No amount of American education seems geared to break people out of the mold into thinking on their own.

We lie to ourselves that we are living in a free market capitalist state where we determine our futures by our hard work and skills. Tell that to the Banker Class, who went bankrupt en mass in 2008, but liv enow a bigger , better, richer lifestyle now than before they went bankrupt. Their friends in high places bailed them out, and made American savers pay for it. Still, we claim to be the one free nation of opportunity, where everyone gets what they earn. Ha! Ha!

Im kinda torn up about the lies and that so many fall for the lies so often. On the one hand we have all the lyers and there are lots of those. Some of them simply dont know and are repeting lies they were told. Then there is the other group that should have known better but never looked at things honestly. The third group that knows its a big lie and proffits from it greatly. Those three packs of fools lead us here.

 Sadly we followed them. We fucked that up. Believing in some of the sillyest shit.

 That said. I firmly believe the best thing we can do to break this cycle of lies is to stomp every last dogma to death. It is the best way to show another person respect. Tell them the truth. No they might not like it or ever thank you for it. But thats not why we should do it. This is something that must be done to save mankind from its self.

 If you can figure out the lie tell people. Show some integrity and take no proffit from it. The ones you save from the lies might just be children. That need to here and see the truth. It starts with some good folks showing it to them.

 Our history is full of lies. That my friends we can change.

(Check US's 'balance of payments' since 1971 and see how many years we ended with a positive number).

If it's the 'big lie' that interests you, then perhaps you'd be interested in my contention that the Pentagon, the Fed and sundry PTB intentionally caused the the housing bubble of the early 21st century and then triggered the subprime bubble to pop after the inflated mortgages were combined and sold in tranches around the world.

This, of course, led to the world-wide recession that we have been struggling with since 2009.

And more to the point, led to the decline in the consumption of crude oil that we have experienced.  And what the Pentagon was mainly interested in.

We can not believe any of the figures that OPEC or any other large producer/US ally has released in the last 6 years about the amount of oil produced.

The monetary system has become like a metastasized cancer that has spread everywhere throughout a terminally sick and insane society. The monetary system is parasite that is killing its host. Those trends have become so pervasive that there are NO currently known treatments for those illnesses that would not kill that patient or that host along with killing the sources of those diseases.

MEANWHILE, as usual, the article above by Jim Quinn provides way too superficial an analysis, and therefore, implications of bogus "solutions." Anyone who continues to rely on thinking using the DUALITIES of false fundamental dichotomies, and so, looking for "solutions" within the related impossible ideals, is still THINKING in profoundly wrong ways.

We should start using UNITARY MECHANISMS.

Governments are necessarily the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals. Citizens are necessarily members of an organized crime gang, called their country. The less that those citizens understand that, because they do not want to understand that, then the more they act like incompetent political idiots.

As soon as we perceive and define human beings as separated from their environment and each other, then they must necessarily live as gangs of robbers. There is no way to have any relatively useful language that perceives and defines human beings and civilization that does not necessarily end up being systems of more or less organized lies, operating robberies. As soon as one perceives and defines any general energy systems, such as human beings and civilization, then those systems necessarily operate as entropic pumps of environmental energy flows.

There are intense paradoxes, which have developed as sets of consistent contradictions, due to the history of successful warfare based on backing up deceits with destruction, morphing to become successful finance based on enforcing frauds. The prolonged social successfulness based on being able to back up lies with violence, becoming more sophisticated systems of legalized lies backed by legalized violence, has enabled all of the established sociopolitical systems to become dominated by the best available professional hypocrites.

Most of those who pretend to be opposing those entrenched systems are controlled opposition groups, because they still think using the same old-fashioned false fundamental dichotomies and related impossible ideals. Jim Quinn is merely another classic case of that pattern, which can be found almost everywhere in the articles and comments published on Zero Hedge.

There is relatively correct analysis, based upon relative dichotomies. However, the thinking then tend to continue to falsely presume that there are fundamental dichotomies. That kind of thinking then tend to push itself towards promoting the realization of impossible ideals, which is based upon understanding the mechanisms backwards, and therefore backfires badly.

After one has perceived human beings and civilization as things or processes which are defined in ways which separate them from their environment, then one has also automatically defined them as necessarily being entropic pumps of environmental energy flows, and those must match the principles and methods of organized crime.

There was NO BEGINNING to that. Rather, there has always been about an exponential growth of civilization as forms of organized crime. It was never anything else and could never be anything else. None of the landmarks in American history, such as the Federal Reserve Board and income tax in 1913, or utterly abandoning the gold standard in 1971, were anything basically different. Nothing else actually exists in any ways that can be perceived and defined than the dynamic equilibria between different systems of organized lies operating robberies. Therefore, Jim Quinn is being ARBITRARY when he superficially asserted that:

The country has been living a Big Lie since the day Nixon closed the gold window in 1971, eliminating any vestiges of constraint upon central bankers and politicians.

All human beings have ALWAYS been living through systems of more or less organized lies, operating robberies. There have developed sets of consistent contradictions due to those who were the best at doing that also becoming the best available professional hypocrites, who have developed the language of DUALITIES, manifesting through false fundamental dichotomies, and the related impossible ideals.

IT IS BECAUSE GOVERNMENTS ARE THE BIGGEST FORMS OF ORGANIZED CRIME, CONTROLLED BY THE BEST ORGANIZED GANGS OF CRIMINALS, (the biggest gangsters, who are now the banksters, and the big corporations that have grown up around those banks issuing the public "money" supply as debts) THAT THE DOMINATE SOCIAL STORIES ARE EXPRESSED THROUGH THE LANGUAGE OF DUALITIES.

Jim Quinn presents this kind of typical, superficial analysis: "Our country has gone mad over the last few decades."

Human civilization has always necessarily operated according to the principles and methods of organized crime, growing larger and larger. That did not start during the last few decades, or the last few Centuries. However, the exponential growth of the overall size of that organized crime has been doubling and doubling, in ways which have become way more obvious in the USA since 1971, as the total of all debts in the USA have nearly perfectly matched an exponential growth curve, due to totally MAD Money As Debt no longer having any legal connection to the physical world. The only things which have changed are the progress in physical science, being channeled through social pyramid systems based upon being able to back up lies with violence, which systems of enforced frauds have become globalized electronic monkey money frauds, backed by the threat of force from apes with atomic bombs: MAD Money As Debt backed by MAD Mutual Assured Destruction.

There was never any beginning to the MADNESS that follows from social successful based on being able to back up lies with violence, or enforce fraud. Some people being able to control other people through backing up lies with violence, or enforcing frauds, NEVER stops those lies and frauds from still being false, although everyone adapts to the realities of those lies being backed by violence, or those frauds being enforced, in various ways that more or less treat those lies and/or frauds as if they were not false. Ultimately, the only thing that actually happens in the longer term is that society as a whole becomes increasing psychotic, while the ruling classes of that society become the most psychotic psychopaths, due to their relative social successfulness being based on continuing to enforce frauds. As Jim Quinn pointed out: "the Deep State decided their best interests trumped the interests of the people."

Human evolution became based on the internalization of natural selection as intelligence, which was then applied to the most important selection pressures, which were other groups of human beings. Therefore, the history of successful warfare drove the development of civilization, which then became the basis for the political economy to become based on governments enforcing frauds by privately controlled banks.

However, we are suffering from the double whammy paradoxes that most people have already been so brainwashed to believe in the biggest bullies' bullshit world view, that there is now almost nothing but the core of organized crime (bankster controlled governments) surrounded by various controlled opposition groups (which include characters like Jim Quinn, as well most of the others published in Zero Hedge articles and comments.)

All private property is based on backing up claims with coercions. Private property does not exist outside of some system of public violence. Money is the most abstract form of that, because money is measurement back by murder, because the debt controls are backed by the death controls. In the USA that took the form of governments demanding the payment of taxes in the legal tender of fiat money made out of nothing as debts by privately controlled banks, which systems developed due to the history of the funding of all aspects of the political processes, both legally and illegally: POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS.

The monetary systems necessarily depend upon the murder systems. The degree to which the citizens do not understand that, and have been conditioned to not want to understand that, it the degree to which they have become Zombie Sheeple. The ideals of a democratic republic operating through the rule of law have been systematically destroyed by the history of the increasingly vicious spirals POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS, becoming globalized electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs, which have left the old systems of paper frauds backed by gunpowder weapons far behind ...

Jim Quinn correctly pointed out: "The coming collapse hopefully will force Americans to come to their senses one by one." However, guys like Quinn, as is typically the case on Zero Hedge, as well as way worse in the mainstream mass media, continue to presume upon common sense in old-fashioned ways, which have been scientifically demonstrated to be WRONG.  For the duress of the established systems of debt slavery generating numbers which become debt insanities, that provoke death insanities, to be collapses hopefully forcing Americans to come to their senses one by one, enough Americans would have to go through profound paradigm shifts in the ways that they perceive political problems.

So far, despite all of the increasing anomalies which are demonstrating more and more blatantly that governments are the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized criminals, almost all of the few people who perceive those increasing anomalies do NOT go through sufficient paradigm shifts. Instead, like Jim Quinn, as well as almost all of the other content on Zero Hedge, after relatively good, albeit superficial, analysis of the problems, then there are proposed various bogus "solutions" based upon somehow realizing impossible ideals.

Human beings and civilization have been driven into double-bind paradoxes, or nested Catch 22s, whereby the social successfulness of backing up lies with violence has driven that excessively successful control over civilization by the methods of organized crime to become runaway criminal insanities, as exemplified by electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs, etc. ... That is especially problematic due to the degree that the core of organized crime, which is now bankster controlled governments, are surrounded by almost nothing but controlled opposition groups, whose bogus "solutions" continue to be based on perceiving the same false fundamental dichotomies, and promoting the same old impossible ideals.

Guys like Jim Quinn are typical in the degree to which they do not engage in deeper analysis of the murder systems, and therefore, make no effort to address what sorts of different murder systems would be necessary to actually have different monetary systems. Rather, Jim Quinn expresses the problems in superficial ways, such as:

There is no avoiding a collapse brought on by decades of warped monetary and fiscal policies, and irrational behavior by bankers, corporations and consumers.

The problem is NOT merely due to "decades of warped monetary and fiscal policies." Rather the political problems are as old as Neolithic Civilization, and so, metaphorically speaking, are Babylonian, as indicated by the ways that we still measure time using the basically Babylonian system. Certainly, the social successfulness of the "money-changers" can be traced back that far! Moreover, that in turn goes back even beyond human beings, into the hierarchies or pecking orders of various other social animals.

Actually, there was never any beginning to the currently established systems whereby governments enforce frauds by privately controlled banks. The only thing that has changed has been the exponential progress in physical science, and so, the only genuine solutions would have to be series of intellectual scientific revolutions that applied to political science in general, and to the combined money/murder systems in particular. Since the debt controls are backed by the death controls, the most important profound paradigm shifts are changes in the ways that we perceive the death control systems.

Essentially, the problem with Quinn's article "Living A Lie" is that he presumes that it would be possible for human beings and civilization to be living through The Truth, as if there were some fundamental dichotomies that would enable The Truth to be realized as an ideal. On the contrary, human beings and civilization, as soon as we perceive and define them, in order to be able to tell stories about those at all, necessarily become systems of organized lies operating robberies. Therefore, it is NOT possible for human beings and civilization to be living in any other ways than by "Living A Lie."

Changing the dynamic equilibria between different systems of organized lies operating robberies is possible. Stopping there being some systems of organized lies operating robberies is NOT possible. However, at the present time, apparently the only feasible ways to change the dynamic equilibria between the established systems of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS require series of psychotic breakdowns, crazy collapses into chaos, and severe social storms blowing through, due to the established debt slavery systems having already generated numbers which have become debt insanities, which have no mathematically possible ways to be resolved within the context of those established systems.

I certainly agree with the mostly irrational hope expressed by Jim Quinn that: "The coming collapse hopefully will force Americans to come to their senses one by one." HOWEVER, as I have outlined above, the changes, which would be necessary to develop any saner or sensible attitudes towards the development of globalized electronic frauds backed by atomic bombs, can NOT be found by going backwards to thinking about political problems using old-fashioned ideologies, as if those were the same as the days of paper frauds and gunpowder weapons, and even less by going further backwards to even more old-fashioned religions, that developed when there was even more primitive technologies.

Americans have led the world in developing the currently established systems of globalized electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs. The only possible good futures (which currently, I admit, seem extremely improbable) would be to for political science to integrate and surpass the profound paradigm shifts already achieved in physical sciences. Of course, guys like Jim Quinn, as well as almost all the other content published on Zero Hedge (while even more so in the mainstream mass media) make barely any intellectual efforts whatsoever to think more deeply about the existence of globalized electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs.

Nothing is more important to a technologically based civilization than its philosophy of science. It is to series of intellectual scientific revolutions that we should look regarding the degree to which we are now collectively "Living A Lie" through increasing MADNESS. The accumulating, more and more blatant anomalies due to governments necessarily being the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, should drive enough people to go through enough paradigm shifts in the ways that they perceive their political problems, which should mean attempting to stop using DUALITIES, while to start using UNITARY MECHANISMS.

Those would be ways that human beings and civilization could be "Living A Lie" in ways that could better asymptotically approach The Truth, while appreciating better that human beings and civilization were always already manifestations of general energy systems, wherein natural selection pressures drove social successfulness to become based on artificial selection systems acting through the maximum possible deceits and frauds, and so, for civilization to end up being dominated by the best available professional hypocrites, both in the central sociopolitical systems, as well as in the surrounding layers of controlled opposition.

Speaking of controlled opposition groups, guys like Jim Quinn tend to be able to see that the established systems are "Living A Lie," but not so able to see the degree to which he, and everyone else, must also be doing so too. Of course, it is the sets of consistent contradictions whereby that works are intense paradoxes due to the ways that energy is already being conserved, even when the established systems are based upon vicious spirals of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS, that make "money" out of nothing as debts, which can disappear back to nothing when those debts disappear.

The most intense sociopolitical PARADOXES are due to the social successfulness based upon being able to back up lies with violence, every short to medium term increment of which results in civilization as a whole becoming more criminally insane in the longer term. Natural selection pressures drove civilization through the history of successful warfare based upon deceits and treacheries to become a political economy based upon governments enforcing frauds by privately controlled banks. The reasons for how and why civilization is based on its debt controls being backed by its death controls are that there must necessarily be some death control systems, and those were naturally selected to become most socially successful by becoming the most fraudulent.

Those essential paradoxes that artificial selection systems developed INSIDE natural selection systems drove civilization to become dominated by the biggest bullies' bullshit, which became the banksters' bullshit about the political economy. That basic bullshit was built into the dominate natural languages, as well as into the foundations of the philosophy of science that most people continue to take for granted, including among the various layers of controlled opposition groups that surround the currently bankster controlled governments.

Literally speaking, the progress in understanding general energy systems, through thermodynamics and information theory, has been channeled through social pyramid systems based upon being able to back up lies with violence, which mostly get away with publicly presenting themselves in the most absurdly backwards ways possible relative to what they are really doing. The central social facts are that ENFORCING FRAUDS HAS BECOME ATOMIC BOMBS BACKING UP ELECTRONIC CREATIONS OF "MONEY" OUT OF NOTHING AS DEBTS.

In the late 60's my Dad made a dollar an hour in construction. We could afford everything on his pay. Cars, college, doctors and dentists and vacations. No debt. That's the American dream that has been stolen. I recall seeing gas on sale for 19cents a gallon.

You're joking!  A dollar an hour!  Average hours worked in one year = 2000.  $1.00 and hour times 2000 hours - $2000.00 per year.  One had to pay for food, housing, utilities, medical care, eduation and vacations from that income. 

Two bedroom apartment cost was about $100.00 per month out of an income of about $160.00 per month. that would have left $60.00 per month for all the rest of the items you listed. 

I was 28 years old 1968 and earned about $6500.00 per year which was about average middle class income.  Gas was 35 cents per gallon.  You need to recheck your figures.  I had a family of four and owed on a car ($3500.00).  Owed credit card debt (not much).  Had doctor bills (child birth, pediatricians, dentists, etc.) No vacation, could not afford to take off from work.  Wife stayed at home taking care of babies.  Could not have momma stay home these days and still live decently, so that is one thing you are correct about.  The "American dream" that you talk about was that your kids would be better off than you were.  That dream only existed from the end of world war II until the 1970s.  After that, the dream started to fade until today when it is more of a nightmare.

A long time ago at college a guest lecturer (government , from Treasury or something), spoke for an hour about how our national debt was meaningless because it was so small compared to our economy and because we owed it to ourselves.  That was back in '84.  It was not true then and it's not true now.  You can't ever borrow from yourself.  And no debt is small when its cost outweighs its benefits.

Our world has one economic model.  Whatever your predeliction for nomenclature and wealth distribution, the basic model is MORE.  Under Western capitalism it's more for money for the ruling elite and more Kardashians for the sheeple.  Under communism, it's the same except there are no Kardashians, which is probably the one good feature of Marxist-Leninist states.  But both extremes and everything in between is based on more people, more cars, more factories, more money.  Things like balance, happiness, health, and longevity are ignored if not mocked.

This rapidly increasing debt is an ominous sign that we are scrambling to hold our ground in the MORE economy.  We have to dig deeper and deeper into future wealth to maintain our illusion.  The Great Bubble probably ate up thirty years of real wealth to produce ten years of nominal wealth.  Since then we are probably running at twice that rate, taking out bigger and bigger IOU's on our future real wealth and our planet's real capacity. As long as we accept the paper, we can borrow "money" forever at zero interest, but we cannot borrow forever on the real wealth of our material, finite planet.
