As US Commandos Arrive In Syria, Kurds Ask "Is This It?"
As regular readers are no doubt aware, the US has done a lot of really silly things over the course of the last four or so years in Syria.
While there’s little question that the rise of ISIS takes the top spot in the “absurd outcomes” category, there are several legitimate contenders for runner-up. There’s The Pentagon’s $500 million “train and equip” program for instance, which was designed to field some 5,400 fearsome warriors with a mandate to fight Islamic State but only ended up yielding “four or five” after the rest of the group (which only amounted to 16 at the “high” point over the summer) died, got captured, defected, or ended up lost in the desert.
As amusing as that effort most certainly was, an even more ridiculous strategy emerged after the train and equip program was officially mothballed in October (we say it was mothballed, but you should note that the NDAA Obama just signed still allows for a half billion in funding for the Syrian opposition). Out of options, and with the Russians bearing down on the FSA and everyone else from the sky, the US decided to begin airdropping tons of ammo and weapons on pallets into the middle of the desert.
“U.S. air drops of weapons and ammunition intended for the Syrian Free Army, which is fighting Assad’s regime, could end up in the hands of Islamic State instead,” Vladimir Putin noted in mid-October, after calling the West “oatmeal heads” for their criticism of Russia’s involvement in the fight. But believe it or not, the fact that “non-moderate” forces might retrieve the arms was actually not the most absurd part of Washington’s small arms paradrop “plan.”
As we outlined in our classic piece “Full Metal Retard: US Launches ‘Performance-Based’ Ammo Paradrop Program For Make-Believe ‘Syrian Arabs,’” Washington was leery of openly arming the YPG for fear of angering Erdogan, who only four months ago finally agreed to allow the US to fly combat missions from Incirlik. So, The Pentagon essentially made up a new opposition force called the "Syrian Arab Coalition" and then proceeded to claim that the group merged with YPG sometime around the 10th of October. The idea, presumably, was that in case Erdogan got wind that the Americans were dropping small arms and ammo to the YPG (who Ankara equates with the PKK), Washington could claim that in fact, the weapons were going to the Syrian Arab Coalition, of which YPG was only a small part.
Erdogan didn’t buy it, but that’s another story.
The buffoonery was complete when Washington promised to continue paradropping weapons to “Syrian arabs” who probably don’t exist as long as their “performance” was judged to be adequate.
Fast forward to November and The White House announced it was set to deploy SpecOps to Syria (as though they weren’t already there). Well this week, we learn that the new troops are officially on the ground and amusingly the mainstream media is out claiming that they’ve been embedded with the “Syrian Democratic Force.”
Now if ever there were a name that resonates with the American public, "Syrian Democratic Force" is surely it. It suggests there’s some sizeable contingent of fighters dedicated to a democratic future for the country once the "tyrannical" government of Bashar al-Assad is shown the door.
As CBS reports, “President Obama revealed Monday that a small contingent of elite U.S. commandos has begun working with allied forces inside Syria to ‘tighten the squeeze’ on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria." Here's more:
CBS News correspondent Charlie D'Agata is inside northern Syria with soldiers from the Syrian Democratic Force, a newly-formed group made up largely of Kurdish and Arab fighters who the U.S. military is now working with in the war-torn nation.
A local commander told D'Agata he had met with U.S. forces on the ground in Syria who are helping to coordinate local militias, and providing equipment, intelligence and training.
The commander told CBS News the Americans are working with his troops because they have proven themselves on the battlefield.
Clearly, the US SpecOps have simply been embedded with the YPG. The "Syrian Democratic Force" (which supposedly includes the aforementioned "Syrian Arab Coalition") is yet another transparent attempt to keep from angering Turkey by simply admitting that the US is fighting alongside the Kurds north of Raqqa.
It's important to step back and assess how the situation is unfolding. The expanded US SpecOps presence in the northeast further divides the country in what amounts to speheres of US and Russian influence. Moscow and Iran control the west and the US, France, and Britain are angling to control the east. At this point, Turkey isn't going to be pleased with either situation. Russia and Iran are pushing towards its borders while the US is aiding a group (the YPG) that Ankara equates with Erdogan's arch nemisis the PKK.
As far as the YPG are concerned, they're glad the US is there, but believe a few dozen spec ops aren't going to do the trick. From CBS again:
But the commander also cautioned that the U.S. troops are about to see for themselves what they're up against, and if America is serious about defeating ISIS, it will need to contribute more than guns and bullets; America's new allies will need artillery, armored vehicles and antitank weapons to match ISIS' firepower.
We're fairly sure Washington is aware of what ISIS has in their arsenal - after all, it all came directly or indirectly from the US and its allies.

Nothing honorable about dying over money. Come home, we have infrastructure to rebuild.
If America is serious about stopping ISIS, it should stop funding ISIS. ie. giving TOW missiles to ISIS to shoot down Russian recuse helicopters.
Also, cut ties with Saudi Arabia. These commandos (mercenaries) are probably double agents.
Mind our business, bring our troops home protect our boarders and property!
Trump's plan is the only way to win against ISIS. The Ruskies can handle a bunch of goat fuckers.
Aw c'mon.. one of those guys is Captain America and the rest are Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commando’s…
You just wait and see the number they will do on ISIL.
Sgt. Rock and Johnny Cloud are on the way.
The whole mess over there has gotten rather cartoonish.
It's all starting to sound like Monty Python with the People's Front of Judea fighting the Judean People's Front.

Retort to "Is This It?"
You have to be careful whenever Western MSM talks about Kurds. The long game is to create a U.S./Israeli/Turkish puppet Kurdistan. For the U.S. and Israel, it's all about stealing the Iraqi's land and oil (and Syria's if they can get their paws on any). For Turkey, it's about creating a Kurdish concentration camp somewhere other than Turkey, and kicking out as many Kurds as possible FROM Turkey to that stolen Syrian/Iraqi land.
The head of this planned fake Kurdistan will be the KRG's ex-president Barzani, the wealthy oil-smuggling mob boss, theif and all-around CIA/Mossad puppet. His clan lives in one of Saddam Hussein's resort palaces while the 'little people' Kurds starve.
The Peshmerga were the legendary Kurdish fighters. Barzani has taken over the largest units and turned them into a Kurdish Stazi loyal to his clan, the KDP political party and the future fake Kurdistan. Since all U.S. oil-interest money goes to Barzani, 'his' Peshmerga units are the best paid and equipped. The other Kurdish Peshmerga go begging. Western MSM only covers Barzani's Peshmerga as if they're the legitimate ones when they're really not.
The YPG/YPJ local militias are tough soldiers fighting for their villiages, not for any fake state or ideology. They are made up of locals - Kurds, Turkmen, Arabs, Assyrians, Yazidi. They're basically 'little people' defending their homes and farms. Since they have little interest in stealing Iraqi (or Syrian) land or oil, the U.S., Israel and their puppet Barzani hate them. The plan is to disarm/disband them and replace them with loyal 'Barzani' state Peshmerga.
Short term, the fake ZATO Kurdistan doesn't have enough Peshmerga to go around. But they don't want to encourage local militias like the YPG/YPJ because they won't fight for fake Kurdistan or Barzani. The real YPG/YPJ didn't want to go down to Raqqa to fight ISIS because that isn't their territory or their problem. The YPG/YPJ also generally hate the Turks and the Turks hate the YPG/YPJ.
To 'fix' those problems (and in a very U.S.-Israeli-like move) the CIA/Mossad created their OWN Kurdish units flying a YPG/YPJ flag, but they're not local militia. They're Kurds, but mostly psychopathic mercs hired in Turkey and sent down to man the fake U.S./Israeli YPG units. The fake YPG is loyal to Barzani and the fake ZATO Kurdistan because that's who pays them. They're not local militia, they're filthy mercs with a few CIA/Mossad plants thrown in to keep an eye on them. Seems they got too carried away with their Arab ethnic cleansing last month in NE Syria and that attracted international scorn. That confused everyone (even the real YPG) because the YPG isn't like that at all.
You may alse see reports about young men forcibly conscripted into either the Peshmerga or YPG. That would only be the fake ZATO ones. The real Peshmerga and YPG/YPJ are and always will be volunteer - they have no conscription.
Mainstream MSM is obviously under orders to hide the fact that a fake Peshmerga and fake YPG have been created for Western scheming. REAL Peshmerga and YPG/YPJ are good, honest people defending their turf. The fake Peshmerga and YPG/YPJ are being used to steal land/oil from Syria and Iran and will eventually be used to subjugate all Kurds in the planned ZATO-engineered uprising for a fake Syrian/Iraqi Kurdistan. A Kurdistan led by the bought-and-paid-for Barzani crime family and guaranteed friendly to U.S./Israeli/Turkish interests.
You have to distinguish between real YPG/YPJ and Peshmerga and the fake ones. The SDF concocted by the U.S. is basically another version of the FSA. The fact that it was made up of mercs comprising the 'Arab units' and the fake YPG merc 'Kurdish units' is important. They are a thug army created to take Raqqa and Dier AlZor back from ISIS before Assad or the Russians get there. The U.S. and Israel have no intentions of letting the Syrians get either of those cities or their oil back. Once the fake SDF controls Raqqa and Dier AlZor, they will demand autonomy from Syria and claim the oil wells are theirs. Same plan for Mosul except the Turks are involved. The plan is to steal that city from Iraq and all the oil wells and pipelines around it for the new fake ZATO Kurdistan.
Why does the press always fail to mention that you need "boots on the ground"? Somehow according to members of the mainstream media, guns just effect war on their own, and you don't need a population of able-bodied men to do this.
They are unfeeling morons.
War is fought and sacrificed in by men. You have to have them to fight, and you lose them when you do fight. This fact is almost never mentioned when war is coming, instead they pretend like weapons just fight wars on their own. They act like Steel becomes self-aware and self-propelled when it is fashioned into the shape of a gun. When war has been going on long enough, they show just enough sympathy for soldiers to discuss ending the war, but immediately forget about all the shit those men had to deal with.
We live in a meat grinder. An era of humanity where vainly sacrificed male lives is so insanely commonplace that it is literally the air in which we breathe.
The death of one is tragic, the death of millions is a statistic.
The death of men is "X persons"...The death of women is a "X women and children".... The death of a white, female, blond-haired, blue-eyed child is a tragedy that they make movies out of.
Don't worry, Hollywood/the Jews are trying to make the death of an Aborigine or African pygmy matter to everyone in the world more.
It's just that no one likes movies without European archetypes, villians and heroes.
Not even the African pygmies like them, I shouldn't wonder. They'd probably rather see a blonde, blue eyed Nordic "goddess." They don't want to see an Aborigine, although many Australians are ready to play the part just like Rachel Dolezal and Elizabeth Warren... no one wants to watch the show!
I thought it was nobel prize...just ask Obama
Dude, even people in our own military don't understand that, The Air Force guys think they can win every war on their own.
US foreign policy is now officially Calvinball.
Just lovely.

America: If you're still getting paid, we must not have killed you yet.

The pain and suffering invoked by these blood-thirsty, wealth engorging, and power-hungry criminals is nothing less than damnable.
May they either repent, or be made to watch themselves all rot in hell before being exiled there.
Yeah, a real 'come to Jesus' moment, blessed be His name.
You mean 'Jesus'... the real one?

You don't think they're providing for the common defense and your national security?
Sure be right there, do I need a visa?
Meh, the red shield is not interested in financing a bit of crumbling infrastructure, it has to be totally destroyed so the hundreds of million dollar loans become billions and billions.
THAT way the hook is in and the drag is set.
Don't worry, be happy. Everything is Awesome, now that our 'Team-players are... embedded'.
“Syrian Democratic Force”
I just peed my pants a bit. Too funny.
Syria's getting more three letter agencies than the US.
I'm trying to think how many different names of groups this adminstration pulled out of thin air during this whole bungled ME operation. I think about five. They just invent a name for a group that is actually some other group or (my personal favorite) a group that doesn't even exist.
The best was the “Khorosan Group” which was a made up name for al Qaeda, or "core al Qaeda" which at the time we were told had been decimated.
ISIS can only be defeated with bullets, not bombs.
The US is not at war with ISIS (yet). The US is at war with "Terrorism" -- which cannot be defeated with either bombs or bullets.
When an architect or engineer screws up the foundation, whatever is built on top of it is almost infinitely more likely to fail.
Russia, make sure you bomb the dropped supplies, and then complain about the lack of communication and coordination.
'MeriKans love that feminine passive-aggressive shit. Just look at their schools and politics.
Sadly, some cargo will be arriving at Dover.
Question is, who's going to take them out, and who else will be blamed for it?
The US Armed Forces are well prepared now for the 21st century warfare- all of them have Twitter accounts and are well versed in how to construct devastating attacks with 140 characters or less.
I do hope they are not unaware of the ancient martial art of litotes.
30.000 ISI fighters and the whole world keeps talking about it as if it was Hitler's Germany in the 40's.. Some kind of joke especially when we see pictures or videos of them in the desert with those bediuns shoes and AK47s.... Come on !!!!!!
wait until you see what these guys can do with a pen and a phone...
LOL!!! America created, funds, and supplies ISIS for fucks sake!
"mainstream media is out claiming that they’ve been embedded with the “Syrian Democratic Force.”
Shouldn't that read ?
mainstream media is in bed with the “Syrian Democratic Farce.”
Which MSM?
Probably a crew from the Weather Channel, documenting climate change and how it caused the war in Syria...
Assad is a brutal dictator who kills his own people -- he doesn't answer to the Syrian people.
Iran/Quds/Hezbollah, Shias by whatever label, are nasty killers doing the bidding of extremist Iranian mullahs. They do not answer to the Iranian people.
Saudi/Qatar/ISIS, Sunni by whatever label, are nasty killers doing the bidding of monarchs and/or extremist Wahabi imams. They do not answer to the Saudi people.
Obama/Congress/CIA/NSA are nasty killers who violated US law to spy on their own citizens, tortured prisoners in violation of US law, and generally do the bidding of extremists in Washington DC (Democrats and Republicans). They do not answer to the US people.
Tell us where in this cluster fuck are these so-called democratic groups?
Barrack Chavez : Assad is a brutal dictator who kills his own people -- he doesn't answer to the Syrian people.
You mean the people who democratically elected him and the same 70% that continue to support him?
Remind us again who he was running against?
Every Soviet premier, Saddam Hussein, and every North Korean "Kim" variation were also 'elected' in uncontested voting.
If you have no choice, its not an election.
Just like in the good old USA where you choose btwn MIC Bankster Zionist ass-kisser R or D.
So, as you said, Barrack: 'If you have no choice, its not an election.'
No argument there
Obviously this move is another lure the Russians into war trick...

Anyone else wonder what our specOps community must think of this?
Early in his first term, when Obama visited CentCom (at the time Spec Ops command was at the same base), he walked past all the miltary leaders without any salute (not even the coffee cup salute). There is no protocol requiring the Commander in Chief to salute, but most do it as a sign of respect.
Minutes later, Obama bowed to the mayor of Tampa. There is no protocol anywhere for a national leader to bow to mayor of a city. As a sign of respect in the USA, some people shake hands while others salute -- but there is no bowing.
There were photos in many newspapers of both the snub, and the bowing.
Oh who gives a shit.
They probably don't think it's very special.
kurds are not humans and without a land. therefore kurd should shut up until they have a land and earn some humanity back.
hasbara (neocon) troll, you're only making it worse, the more you post, the less we respect you
you are free to respect muslims as much as you want
i dont know where you are from but you can bring them in to your cuntry in big numbers i really respect your decision to be friends with muslims. dont forget to show them your daughter. i guarantee you they will come along with her

Rumor has it that Russian subs have been spotted of the Atlantic coast. Maybe Putin is serious about destroying ISIS and is going to take out their headwaters in Langley, the Pentagram and District of Criminals?
Oh, how I wish

Kurds = burkas
Burkas = Enemy
Questions?
Kurds R ISIS duh
kurds are trash. they are weak losers, which turned to islam. now they should stick to the snackbar and search for their country uinder the stones
The odd thing is that DNA testing has shown the Kurds are related to the Jews. Not the Azkenazi Crypto Jews, but the real Jews from the Mid-east. Isn't that special?
you can tell that by looking at their nose no dna-tests needed
they steal all the fresh air with their noses, so only the bad air remains
Those US commando's will informs ISIS, where the kurds positions and what they're up to.
That kurds will be slaughtered by ISIS soon.
To Kurds... You are trusting THE WRONG SIDE!! US IS NOT YOUR FRIENDS.
There are two basic Kurdish groups. i) the extremely corrupt Barzani klan who are the Kurdish equivalent of the Erdogan klan and ii) regular Kurds.
Spit on the former and give the latter a chance, assuming they are prepared to take it.
that is reasonable basic description, but there is more
Every generation must sacrifice hecatombs of its young on the altars of Wall Street and the Yids.
It's the patriotic thing to do.
I would never send my kids or go myself, but I think before I act so I wouldn't be their guy anyway.
THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE! MY STOCKS JUST WENT UP!
Sounds like our Kurdish buddies are not Supporting Our Troops!
They do! They're selling them the oil for their trucks!
Zero Hedge: "As regular readers are no doubt aware, the US has done a lot of really silly things over the course of the last four or so years in Syria."
Wrong. Obama has done a lot of silly things in Syria, and McCain tried to make Obama's already dumb ideas worse.
"We the people" told them to stay out of it.
True, US public opinion has been very opposed to all his Syria meddling from the start.
Hope and change. Hope for DAESH and enemies of the US supported by a leftist POTUS with a chip on his shoulder and change for the worse for all Americans.
i will be really honest i dont know why zh is taking kurds side
kurds are on one of the lowest levels a human can fall in whole human history
only mexicans and the orthodox zombies in israel are worse.
i mean the kurds are so dumb they cant even wash themselfs.
and do you know the original kurdish religion? zorotanism has the symbol of a bird and looks like the lines from nazca.
it means they have stolen their religion from south americans and later on when everyone got internet, they converted to islam so no one can notice the fact that they stole the sounth american nazca religion
stupid kurds
all kurds not the same...there are extreme differences
your rambling not helpful for understanding
hey! i know kurds.
do you even talked to a kurd once in your life?
back than they were parasites in turkeystan. now they are parasites in europe
there are 4.5 million kurds living in germany alone
the problem with the kurds is, their nose is to big. its even bigger than a jew-nose.
if its raining and you stand 10 meters close to a kurdish woman. you wont get wet, because her nose deflects all the rain.
they should bring the kurds to countries like sri-lanka. if you put 100 kurd in a line, they would be able to stop any tsunami.
btw not a single kurd is working in europe! all of them are sitting on welfare.
you really should start learning history. as far as i can remember kurds are from india, thats why the kurdish flag resembles the indian flag.

One week 5 day fucking genius. Is this really the best use of your time?
are you from vietnam?
i only wasted 1 week and 5 days on this site
you waisted here 5+ years of your life and talk about time?
i know much smarter vietnamese people than you. you must be one of this guys, who sells fake cigaretts for 1$ the box
you may have met some Kurds but do you know them? I doubt it jugding from the way you sterotype them; if you have a prejudice you see what you want to see; fortunatly most people here do not judge people by the size of their noses
the US wants to eliminate the non aligned Kurds
What bothers you worse? Is it that they put their ethnicity above religion and tolerate their own regardless of beliefs? Or is it just that they don’t put their women in a bag?
you have to stay with facts. what ethnicity are you talking about?
its just to many muslim lovers here on zh...
I'm no fan of islam or their manipulative lying warlord phony prophet (insert disparaging cartoon image here). The Kurds are an ethnicity. You can go look up the definition of that term if you need to. You already wrote as much anyway, even if it was in a very negative way. I honestly don’t know what your beef is with them. They’re not all muslims and there’s practically no islamists among them. I hope this whole shitty mess ends with them carving out big chunks of territory from Turkey, Syria, and Iraq. I’d include part of Iran too but that seems unlikely now.
It's all nuts. Of course our guys are embedded with the Kurds. If they were sent to any other faction you likely see them being dragged dead through the streets, and Obama wouldn't risk that, not because he'd give a damn about them but he wouldn't risk the political damage.
Locate on a map where ISIS/Al Qaeda operate, those locations are exactly where the US is overthrowing a government, no more, no less.
Reality on the ground has nothing to do with the smokescreen bull shit on the airwaves.
In "kind of related news" the plumber in Texas who had his truck show up being used by ISIS is suing the dealership that he sold the truck to. For $1 Million.

Russian bombers have begun a free hunt for ISIS oil caravans
Good hunting
Operations of Russian aerospace forces continue in Syria. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, pursuant to the order of President Vladimir Putin, Russia's air force significantly increased the intensity of the attacks on armed groups banned in Russia, the terrorist group "Islamic State," active in the territory of Syria.
On Thursday, in accordance with the plan of the air operation the first massive air strikes on hit 206 terrorist targets, said the ministry, adding that, for comparison, on November 18, they made 127 sorties, including five flights of strategic missile carriers Tu-160 and Tu 95MS, 24 of the long-range bombers Tu-22M3, and 98 strike aircraft sorties.
In addition, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian bombers began "free hunt" for a tanker trucks with oil belonging to an "Islamic state." The Russian Air Force is also mounting round-the-clock strikes at targets oil production and processing in terrorist hands.

A bit of a joke isn't it?
The group of teenage computer experts, known as ‘VandaSec,’ have unearthed details of internet protocol (IP) addresses used by three jihadists to access Twitter accounts used to carry out online recruitment.
The addresses were thought to be based in Saudi Arabia, but upon further inspection they linked back to the DWP’s London offices, according to the Daily Mirror.
Thousands Of Russian Troops Sent To Turkish Border
http://fortruss.blogspot.ca/2015/12/thousands-of-russian-troops-sent-to.html
A stunning new Ministry of Defense (MoD) report circulating in the Kremlin states that President Putin, this morning, issued an order to the 58th Army Headquarters of the North-Caucasian Military District to immediately deploy “selected” regiments and brigades of Federation military electronic warfare, anti-aircraft, multiple rocket launcher, anti-tank, motorized rifle, and artillery forces to the Turkish-Armenia border—which in total comprises nearly 7,000 Russian troops now being put into full combat status.According to this report, the legal authorization for this massive combat deployment is due to the joint Russian-Armenian missile air defense system agreement ordered to be signed by President Putin on 11 November and which will be finalized this week by Prime Minister Medvedev.
With Armenia now becoming a vital part of the Russian Joint Air Defense, this report continues, Federation military forces will now be able to counter threats from Turkey coming from that nations western border—which will mirror the air defense protections provided by Federation Aerospace and Naval forces on Turkey’s border with Syria that since being implemented this past week have seen both United States and Turkish aircraft completely cease flying missions against Islamic State terrorists in this war zone all together. Important to note too about this Federation military deployment to Armenia, this report says, are that these forces will be protected, like their counterparts operating in Syria, with S-400 Triumf (NATO designation: SA-21 Growler) medium/long-range mobile surface-to-air missile systems and Krasukha-4 jamming platforms giving them near total air defense superiority over 85 percent of Turkish territory.
Exchange the word ISIS fort the word Russia, and the whole article actually makes sense.
CALL THEM DAESH, the name they deserve.
Names do matter. ISIL/ISIS legitimizes their fictitious nation state.
Daesh, an adapted acronym of their Arabic name - Dawlat al-Islamiyah f'al-Iraq w Belaad al-Sham - is similar to another Arabic word - das - which means 'to trample down' or 'crush', which could therefore be the source of their dislike.
The group hates it so much, in fact, that they have reportedly threatened to cut out the tongues of anyone who uses it in public.
