Ecological Panic: The New Rationale For Globalist Cultism

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Brandon Smith via Alt-Market.com,

Faith in an ideology based on a desire for power over others and the need to feel personally superior without any legitimate accomplishment is perhaps the most dangerous state of being an individual or society can adopt. I would refer to such a mindset as “zealotry,” an integral element of cultism and an extreme result of the elitist side of faith.

Zealotry and cultism are not limited to the realm of the religious. Zealotry is a clever devil hiding in the woodwork of any political or academic construct, and this includes the scientific community when it strays away from empirical logic and honest data into a world of pseudoscience and social engineering. I cannot think of a better example of zealotry feeding scientific cultism than the highly propagandized climate change/global warming movement.

Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming is quickly becoming the overarching rationale for almost every policy toward global centralization, as well as a scapegoat for nearly every major crisis from mass shootings and the rise of ISIS to geopolitical shifts in economic structures. Global warming has been projected as a magical force deviously underlying everything. It is presented by climate scientists and activists as an all-encompassing behemoth of cause and effect, yet nearly all of this frantic pontificating is supported by faith, rather than hard data.

The issue is one of transparency. Without transparency of experimental data, climate scientists and think tank operatives become immune to examination. That is to say, if climate scientists and organizations, many of which are funded by public tax dollars, are not required to reveal the raw data behind their claims on global warming, then their claims are no longer a matter of “fact” or scientific process. Rather, the assertions of climate scientists now become edicts from on high, messages from high priests with a private line to the god of science — a god that no one is allowed to question. Their words become gospel: carbon footprints in the sand.

Climate research institutions like the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have refused for decades to release the raw data behind their experiments, which they say prove the existence of man-made global warming. For many years the CRU refused to release any data that was not first processed to reflect its own desired outcomes and still refuses to release emails that might prove that climate scientists had rigged data in their warming models.

Professor Phil Jones of the CRU in charge of maintaining data sets famously told an Australian climate scientist in 2004:

“Even if WMO agrees, I will still not pass on the data. We have 25 or so years invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it.”

When opposition became more intense in reaction to the CRU’s secretive data, the organization had this to say:

“We are not in a position to supply data for a particular country not covered by the example agreements referred to earlier, as we have never had sufficient resources to keep track of the exact source of each individual monthly value. Since the 1980s, we have merged the data we have received into existing series or begun new ones, so it is impossible to say if all stations within a particular country or if all of an individual record should be freely available. Data storage availability in the 1980s meant that we were not able to keep the multiple sources for some sites, only the station series after adjustment for homogeneity issues. We, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (i.e. quality controlled and homogenized) data.”

Whenever the data issue becomes mainstream and pressure builds, climate scientists simply "lose" the original raw data, and once again we are asked to take them at their word.

Now think about that for a moment. Only in the past few years have climate scientists been pushed to give up raw data to the public, as well as to other unaffiliated scientists, for review. They have enjoyed almost complete immunity from scrutiny since the global warming farce began while acting as the CORE drivers of political and economic policy models by international organizations like the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Future laws and taxes that could affect the entire globe are being written and established on the word of a handful of unaccountable scientists who see their claims as sacrosanct and above investigation.

Despite the assertions of some global warming enthusiasts, little has changed since the release of the hacked “climategate” data and emails or public pressure on climate research institutions. These organizations continue to dismiss data requests made through the Freedom Of Information Act.

Recently, the NOAA released studies which it conveniently claims refutes satellite data proving that there has actually been NO global warming for at least 19 years. When asked by lawmakers to release research papers pertaining to the experiments that supposedly back the assertions of the NOAA, the NOAA refused.

Eventually, apologists for the climate cartel are forced to admit that the raw data is not available to the public.  Climate scientists seem to be the only scientists in the world who get away with presenting theories and conclusions without being required to back what they say with hard data.  Instead of admitting this is an absurd standard, apologists often defend the act of scientific secrecy, claiming that "average people" are not smart enough to interpret the data even if it was made available to us.  We the "profane" public are too unclean to examine the holy books of climate scientists; we are expected to simply bow down to them and globalist entities like the UN as mediators between us and the gods.

Again, there is no available raw data that proves that overt global warming or “climate change” is even occurring, let alone that it is caused by human beings or carbon dioxide. There is far more hard evidence suggesting that changes in climate are determined by the SUN; you know, that massive ball of heat and radiation at the center of our solar system the size of 1.3 million Earths. This was outlined expertly in a Channel Four documentary on the global warming hoax.

Until climate scientists are willing to present their findings including all raw data in a legitimate and transparent manner for independent review, NOTHING they have to say on global warming is relevant. Period. They are not high priests. They are not infallible. They are not even particularly honest. Every chart you see in the mainstream showing warming corresponding to human carbon dioxide production is based on hearsay from these pseudoscientists, not hard evidence. Thus, all current and future laws and regulations based on said hearsay are ultimately erroneous and dangerous.

Unfortunately, corruption within climate research is not where the problem stops. There are people within the halls of power that see the climate change ideology as the perfect vehicle to promote a new kind of social order — an order in which collectivism and centralized governance are “scientifically” indispensable.

The Club of Rome, a globalist think tank with close ties to the climate change agenda stated on page 75 of its publication “The First Global Revolution” in 1990:

"In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill…. All these dangers are caused by human intervention… The real enemy, then, is humanity itself…"

The passage appears under the subhead “The Common Enemy Of Humanity Is Man.”

There is a particular genius in the strategy of essentially uniting humanity against itself. We have heard arguments from politicians in the mainstream about the infinite threats caused by global warming. We have heard many political leaders from across the world demand centralization under the oversight of the U.N. to stop said threats. From Barack Obama to Vladimir Putin, there is considerable geopolitical consensus that the idea of climate change is real (yes, Putin in his last speech at the U.N. demanded action on climate change and more power to the U.N., proving once again that he is not anti-globalist).

Secretary of State John Kerry, among others, has even suggested that ISIS was caused by climate change. This political rhetoric is meant for the masses who consume 15 minutes or less of news per day from the worst possible mainstream sources.

There are, however, more clever snake-oil salesmen writing what I would call “refined propaganda.” These are the think tank analysts who turn lies into highly reasonable sounding treatise built on complex but always circular logical fallacies. If you want to know how future history texts will be written if the globalists get everything they want, simply read the papers and books of the think tank agents today.

Years ago, I wrote about one of these elitist analysts in “The Linchpin Lie: How Global Collapse Will Be Sold To The Masses.” The article focused on a member of Rand Corporation named John Casti and his propaganda mechanism called the “Linchpin Theory.” Casti presented the false idea that “overcomplexity” was the primary cause of global crisis’ leading to minor incidents cascading like dominoes into worldwide catastrophes. Casti’s solution is, of course, simplification (Translation: globalization and centralization under a streamlined one-world system). This argument conveniently gives a free pass to the organized criminality of international elites — as if these men and their engineered disasters do not exist or never mattered, and all the fiscal pain and endless war we suffer is merely a product of random chaos.

I have come across another think tank elitist peddling a similar propaganda mechanism called “Ecological Panic.” Timothy Snyder is a member of the Council On Foreign Relations and the writer of “Black Earth: The Holocaust As History And Warning.” I highly suggest readers listen to this interview with Snyder on Reuters to get a sense of what I mean by “propaganda.”

Snyder conjures a vast array of disinformation in that interview alone, but I was particularly intrigued with the idea of “ecological panic,” which, I believe, is the next phase (or a more carefully defined phase) in the climate change agenda. Here is a summary:

Snyder presents the foundational theory that crises — more specifically, “holocausts” — are a product of resource scarcity and unrealistic ideas of proper living standards. He blames these unrealistic standards on his own conceptions of free market systems, which supposedly encourage societies to demand more access to resources than what is practical (keep in mind that the elites want to be the people who have the power to determine what is practical and what is not). Snyder offers up the notion that Hitler himself, in a way that is not exactly made clear, was a promoter of a brand of free market greed, which lured unsuspecting Germans into the mentality of war and genocide for profit.

At every turn, Snyder and the Reuters interviewers attempt to link Hitler’s philosophies and actions back to current principles that are original pillars of Western culture. Snyder suggests that Hitler’s social Darwinism is related to the free-market mentality of competition, which he seems to think means competition at any cost. He argues that the German ideal of high living standards was derived from ranking themselves against American standards. The interview leapfrogs into a comparison between the German obsession with high living standards at the onset of fascism and the American conception of high livings standards today.

Ostensibly, the hint is that high living standards lead to totalitarianism and holocausts.

The final thrust of the discussion revolves around the key idea that state conquests for resources along with global warming are today’s “linchpins” for further war, mass immigrations and genocide. Snyder directly relates Hitlerian genocidal philosophy with resource conquest and Hitler’s refusal to take science into account as a warning or a solution. Snyder links this to “ecological panic,” the claim that a lack of resource management and practicality lead to amoral thought processes and genocide. He suggests that global warming is a new catalyst for ecological panic and that the U.S. and much of the world are diving headlong into the same pattern as Nazi Germany out of greed for resources and a refusal to acknowledge the “wisdom” of climate science.

So, if you were wondering where the root source was for the argument that climate change skeptics are the same as “holocaust deniers,” this kind of thinking is it.

Snyder constructs a narrative of moral relativism in which people cannot be saved by enlightenment or moral compass because, according to him (and I am paraphrasing), resource crisis removes all morality from the situation and automatically turns people into monsters.  This is yet another elitist attempt to discount inborn conscience as a factor and elevate collectivist control of environment to mold society.

For someone who claims that understanding history requires “undoing the things we think we know implanted in our minds by nationalist history,” Snyder injects a rather ridiculous abstract regurgitation of mainstream history with vast voids of space in his information.

First off, as shown above, Snyder’s primary thesis falls apart if the ideology of man-made global warming is a lie, a lie generated by false data provided by climate scientists who keep the raw and real data to themselves like some kind of occult knowledge.

Second, true free markets did not exist in Germany during the Great Depression or World War II; and they certainly do not exist in America today. I’m getting a little tired of socialists and globalists constantly blaming “free markets” for the problems they created.

Third, Snyder, like Casti from Rand Corporation, completely skips over the historical record when it comes to the influences of internationalists in the creation of disasters or totalitarian governments like the Third Reich. I highly suggest anyone interested in the REAL history of the Nazi Party read the well-documented works of Antony Sutton, including “Wall Street And The Rise Of Hitler.”

While consistently attempting to connect Hitler’s fancies and genocidal tendencies to his admiration for American history, Snyder utterly ignores the fact that Hitler’s ideas on genocide were directly affected by the philosophy of eugenics, a philosophy which was launched by global elitists like the Rockefellers in the U.S. in the early 1900s — the same elites who later funded the Nazi infrastructure. Resource entitlement and "ecological panic" had little or nothing to do with Hitler’s eugenics background.

It is documented fact that the success of ISIS in Syria and Iraq is due to the openly admitted support by covert government agencies, including U.S. agencies, tied to internationalist interests — NOT due to global warming, which is perhaps the most insane connect-the-dot theory I have ever heard.

What we have here from this CFR mouthpiece is a carefully crafted rationalization for globalism. Look at it this way: If ecological panic is the primary trigger of collapse, war and industrialized death, the elites escape all blame. They are the ones, after all, trying to “save us” from ourselves by introducing carbon emissions controls, not to mention the idea of population controls.

Global warming becomes a catch-all bogeyman, a Frankenstein monstrosity created by humanity and plaguing humanity. Those who deny the existence of global warming or who question the legitimacy of its high priests (climate scientists) are not exercising their right to skepticism; they are contributing to inevitable genocide. Therefore, climate denial would have to be punished by governments, as climate scientists have been publicly suggesting.

Climate change and Snyder’s world of ecological panic would naturally facilitate the development of population controls and institutionalized eugenics. I have no idea if Snyder is aware of the irony that his ideology is actually more closely related to Hitler’s ideology than free markets ever will be. Being that he is a member of the CFR, I suspect he is aware indeed.

If you want to know why internationalists and collectivists have been force-feeding the climate change agenda to the world despite considerable opposition and well-publicized incidences of exposed fraud on the part of climate scientists, consider the prize at the end of the game. If climate change and ecological panic become ingrained “truths” within our social framework, literally any horror can be justified.

Under ecological panic, human beings must apply social Darwinism in order to survive. Amoral rationalizations must prevail. Pseudoscientists and the establishment become the purveyors of life and death, prosperity and poverty. It will be the elitist class, given license by the power of blind faith rather than hard data, that will determine every aspect of existence from resource allocation, to production, to labor, to relationships and birth, to child rearing, to an individual’s very life span and access to healthcare. Globalism, if allowed to continue in the name of climate defense, will become the most pervasive and powerful cult in history.

Al Gore sure knows how to talk his book.

Washington Post - Just before leaving public office in 2001, Gore reported assets of less than $2 million; today, his wealth is estimated at $100 million.

Gore charted this path by returning to his longtime passion — clean energy. He benefited from a powerful resume and a constellation of friends in the investment world and in Washington. And four years ago, his portfolio aligned smoothly with the agenda of an incoming administration and its plan to spend billions in stimulus funds on alternative energy.

The recovering politician was pushing the right cause at the perfect time.

Fourteen green-tech firms in which Gore invested received or directly benefited from more than $2.5 billion in loans, grants and tax breaks, part of President Obama’s historic push to seed a U.S. renewable-energy industry with public money.

We were just in India and Nepal (as tourists).  While in Nepal, we boarded a tourist plane (Buddha Air Flight #101 -- truth) that was a Beechcraft twin-prop to fly by Mt. Everest.  It was spectacular, but one would think that Everest would be covered with snow in December, but no.

Yes, this is a recipe for mass death, only via a deflationary depression with no end.

Carbon is emitted by fire.

It takes fire to make things. Think of something that's not made with fire. Even plants grow by the fire of the sun. You have a metabolistic fire inside you- that's why you exhale CO2.

If everything is made with fire, what happens when you cut back on CO2? You have to cut back on fires.

Less fires, less production.

If we are already in the throes of a deflationary cycle, then what you need to get out of it s MORE production, not less. That's essentially the rationale behind QE (except of course, the money goes in banker's pockets, not towards more fires)- make it possible to make more fires.

Carbon caps are fire caps. Fire caps are production caps. Production caps are a guarantee that debt overload gets defaulted, not repaid. Default cascades, and becomes self-reinforcing, hence the deflation from hell that will accomplish Bill Gate's evil plan- the mas murder of humanity.

Evil motherfuckers.

the chinese aren't communists and haven't been for decades.  the proletariat doesn't do much dictating and the privately rich have little to fear if they do not challenge party hegemony.

is this guy brandon smith saying man's enemy is not man?  what in the history of this century or the last supports this?

like everest, the ice of both poles is melting at an increasing rate.  the temperatures there are at century or more highs.  how much of this is man-caused is obviously arguable.

but "greenhouse gases" are largely pollution in any case.  the air in cities, especially third world cities, is nasty to life-threatening.  that the silence about fukushima was deafening supports that man's greedy thirst for more is killing him and other life.

the silver lining here is that the human population will peak and decline without obvious end starting about mid century if not sooner due to the free choices of women.

the weakest part of the globallists' argument about global warming, imo, is that anything they are likely to do, ever, will help.

but it irks me to see someone carrying the anarcho-liberal flag and swooning about Hitler, a self-professed National Socialist constantly ranting against all liberalism (which includes libertarianism), and who advocated an austere lifestyle that is something like the opposite of what NidStyles probably advocates himself

seriously, Adolf Hitler would advocate for a way more extreme environmentalism then what is being advocated now. he would forbid meat consumption and ration oil, if he was among us today. he would say that markets should not be allowed into this whole discussion, and attack all attempts to market "carbon credits" as pure folly and greed

The Chinese aren't communists. No you are right the party members are not communists, they are the party members. The communists are the peasants forced into obeying them.

China is a giant communist slave plantation with a clever propaganda apparatus pushing the image that they are free people again... There are communists everywhere, the US has had them in power for nearly 4 decades now. The entire intelligence apparatus is communist, and it has been since it was stood up by former OSS communists post-WW2. Then again you'd have to not be a proapgandist that actually knew history to know that.... Hmm, makes one wonder what you are doing here.

The propaganda is deep here.

Also, just because Hitler was right about a few things, doesn't mean he was right about everything, and to hold up such an assertion can only be the work of retards and sophists/propagandists...

These AGW/globalist morons don't even know what would happen if they ever get their way and eliminate most of us. Ever hear of a feedback loop, idiot? That's what you get when you start massive changes that go against the natural flow. You think you will just eliminate the peasants - or at least enough that you can keep your slaves and run a world that decrees you Gods. Doesn't work that way. If any of you were REAL scientists, you'd know that, but power is a mighty aphrodisiac and once you reach what Algore calls "the tipping point" it will be too late - and you and all of your fellow morons will die. Then there will be no AGW people and the world can move along without humanity. And if you think the world will be a better place without people... think again. Try comparing the numbers of wild animals, both in numbers of individuals per species and numbers of species. The world didn't do so good without humans around, and believe it or not, the animal kingdom has done very well since Man took over the place.

Bill Gates should take a few minutes to consider that his whole career was made possible by all that surplus population.

The population density required to develop and MAINTAIN all the tech is far greater than these folks are apparently willing to tolerate.

And, the NWO they want so bad actually requires MORE people, not less, but the people who ARE breeding appear to have a very different agenda than Gates and his friends. The NWO they end up getting may involve facing East and prostrating themselves 5 times a day...When you are a Bill Gates, it can be hard to understand that most of the world does NOT share your views, or your dreams for the rest of humanity. What THEY might want from a NWO probably hasn't been planned for by the Bill Gates's of the world. All the wonderful technology you bring them won't necessarily be used the way you'd like, and the same tech that allows you to spread your ideas also allows competing ideas to do the same. Now Gates may think that's just peachy, but as a tech-smart, people-stupid type of guy, he forgets that for much of humanity, religion is the prime mover and power in their lives, and diversity and tolerance are NOT respected views. But his tech can spread those ideas just as easily, probably even more so since religious ideas can 'grab' a person's mind more strongly than intellectual ones.

I wonder if people really understand how many people 7-plus billion IS...The folks who presume to rule them all need to take a good look at that horde and ask themselves if it is even possible. Unite the world, and you might be surprised at the direction that horde decides to move in. The folks like Bill Gates might be very shocked at where others may take his ideas, and at how they use his wonderful 'gift' of tech. Maybe one day he will be looking on at what he has helped bring about and think to himself, just like Oppenheimer, "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Regrets, regrets...our history is filled with them.

Not evil. Pragmatic. This is like a disaster movie when the meteor is crashing in ten days and only a select few get to hide out in the caves.

The resources are dwindling and the select few (elites and their kin/offspring) get to keep them.

Their plan is to kill the rest of us. Global Warming is just their cover story.

And unlike in the movies when they've got to race to beat the "sudden impact," this is a 10-20 year con they've got going.

All the "useful idiots" are just that. Morons repeating ego bloating ideas they don't understand so they can feel morally superior.

Mars will never be terraformed without domes or huge caves. Not enough spin or gravity (mass) to hold an atmosphere. Also probably no iron core to create the requisite electromagnetic field to keep the solar wind from blowing all that newly generated atmosphere in place around the planet (ie no dynamo effect).

Global warming is not "a farce" as stated here.  Reality is extremely complicated and everyone selfishly uses what influence they have for their selfish aims, including both poor people and the elite (as correctly pointed out in this article).  That doesnt change the reality of global warming.  The arctic very clearly is warming up big time, even more than projected (talk to someone who has lived in Alaska for 30 years!), and growing seasons in the temperate latitudes are expanding (hooray!) due to global warming.  A dirty secret is that Canada, Siberia, Greenland, and eventually Antarctica are BIG winners in the global warming sweepstakes. But, the oceans have increased acidity 30% (more than 0.1 pH unit), which is a bigger problem than a warmer planet (why doesnt anyone care about the more important problems, probably because they do not understand chemistry?).  This is a chemistry problem and requires a thorough understanding of chemistry to deal with so called "facts."  Because the elite are too stupid in general to learn  science and technology, maybe a good strategy to deal with the real problem of the corrupt elite is to withdraw from their system and develop our own skills and knowledge based self resilient communities where banksters are not needed and not allowed.  But this requires self discipline and does not fit into idle time squandering internet chit chat.

The problem is exacerbated by Geoengineering. Three of the four main climate scientists who have been studying the arctic ice melting patterns died under very suspicious circumstances in a very short time period. What they discovered is that there is a very large body of cold, relatively fresh melt water overlying the entire arctic ocean, and it is relatively stagnant. This is due to the presence of a rather large, persistent blocking high pressure system off the coast of Alaska that has been there FOUR YEARS, and is probably there due to the large spraying program in place over the western US. This persistent high has also resulted in a very large, high temperature 'blob' in the Pacific Ocean that scientists are now calling 'the El Nino of the Century.' It is truly a massive amount of warm water that is locked in place due to geoengineering.

I tried to provide a link to the article describing the deaths of those three climate scientists but it evidently has gone down the glory hole.

EDIT: found one version here - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/earth/environment/globalwarming/11762680...

http://www.forbes.com/sites/peterferrara/2014/02/24/the-period-of-no-glo...

What I worry about is if this geoengineering program were to be stopped cold-turkey, what would happen? Would all that warm water finally form mega-storms that would inundate the west and the Arctic, churning all that freshwater into the Atlantic and thus stopping the Gulf stream, potentially resulting in massive snowstorms all over the northern hemisphere? With the sun entering a Maunder Minimum, could this be the start of a sudden ice age? Pretty important to find out now that there are all these immigrants moving into northern European countries at a time when war could cause Putin to stop gas deliveries...

Hello Implied Violins, you have a great sense of humor! You made me laugh, How clever some people are to convince the truly powerless that they, some how, are the ones responsible for, and therefore should feel guilty for, the 'changes?' they are causing in the climate, because if the climate is still changing, as it has always changed, this time it is your fault.

'Climate change' is natural, and real. The sun - and the changes in the Earth's orbit (and position in the galaxy) over time (see Milankovitch cycles) - is what drives climate. But I believe those who have a certain world-wide 'agenda' are *exacerbating* and/or co-opting natural climate change via geonegineering to produce desired effects (such as drought in the west), and soon - either when they stop spraying, or when they can no longer stop the changes - there will be a MASSIVE correction to the mean...and it will be sudden, and intense.

No the pH of the oceans is identical to that measured in 1910 (NOAA own data sets).  The buffering capacity of the oceans is effectively limitless (or as one scientist joked unless we run out of limestone rock in contact with the oceans the pH is never going to vary significantly).  I believe you do not understand chemistry or more importantly measurement error.  It is not possible to measure pH with an accuracy of 0.1 unit without calibration with at least three standard solutions.   Now you expect us to believe such calibration was done everywhere in the world's oceans and corrected for temperature?  Thus, like temperature change claims that exceed the calibration errors of the instruments (anything larger than about 0.2 oC for land based thermometry) a change of 0.1 pH unit isn't measureable and certainly not meaningful (it exceeds that value as a function of ocean depth).

Interestly, only the well calibrated radiometric satellite temperature data which dates from about 1980 is believeable.  And it shows unamiblguously that for 18 years there is no increase in the least squares slope of T vs time (i.e. no mean T change)  And yet CO2 has increased 40 ppm (10%) over that time period.  So, modern measurements show CO2 influence on global T is neglible and easily overwhelmed by natural changes such as the AMO, PDO, ENSO, cloud cover etc.   This is consistent with 800000 years of ice core data showing no causal relationship between CO2 and T.  In fact, T increases for various no understood natural reasons and then CO2 follows with about an 800 year lag (ocean outgassing at high T).  So, all unbiased data refute the CO2 warming hypothesis.  Science hypothesis (models) can never be proved, only falsified.  Its dead science but lives on as religion-its entirely faith based.  They even use unscientific terms such as deniers, skeptics (all scientists worth anything are intense skeptics).   They have a religious, faith based dogma and believe me, no intelligent scientists are buying this hoax.

And the models are so bad that all overestimated the warming by the factor of 3 over the last 20 years.  They would have done better just flipping a coin.  That's what happens when you try to model a complex, choatic, nonlinear system with multliple coupled feedbacks with a single control knob, CO2.  You end up the laughing stock of legitimate scientists like myself.  Humans can't predict climate and they certainly can't control it.  ITS A SCAM!!!!

"And the models are so bad that all overestimated the warming by the factor of 3 over the last 20 years. They would have done better just flipping a coin."

Ummm... that's sorta what they did to determine their initial "solar forcing" number. They had their "expert" give them a number, and his first number was 50%. After they ran some numbers, they didn't come up with any significant AGW, so they had him re-estimate. The second time around, he estimated Solar forcing to be about 25% - and *poof* - they had their AGW!!!

"More than 31,000 scientists in the United States have signed a petition urging the U.S. government to reject the kinds of AGW policies proposed by the UN and environmental extremists."

1. A localized change in temperature is weather. You can't take a local change and somehow extrapolate it to call it Global.

2. The oceans may be less BASIC, but they are not acidic therefore cannot be MORE acidic.  And that point is still in question. Please provide actual research and un-modified data references. Please provide references to back up your contrenbtion that it is a bigger problem. (For every "coral reefs are in danger", there is another paper "coral reefs are doing just fine"

Carbon taxes are divinely inspired and will magically erase all changes in climate.  Why, if carbon taxes are high enough, we can eliminate hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, droughts, weather that is too hot, weather that is too cold, starvation, disease, infant deaths, military conflicts, snow, the lack of snow, sunburn, cancer, runny noses, hair loss, pimples, STDs, partiarchy, tooth decay, and bad breath.

Allow me to make an observation: Environmentalism started as a grassroots  (Bottom Up) movement decades ago, by concerned people in a number of countries.

Since then, slowly, inexorably, this bottom - up pyramid has been flipped upside-down. The ruling elite have made it their own, and are now starting to impose their Top-down views on the rest.

This is another mechanism and opportunity to condition us to obey, rather than be obeyed. It is another way for them to exert their non-democratic, their Globalist power over us, in the march toward their NWO.

To the best of my knowlegde ( and the knowledge of lord Monckton - amongst others ) the whole CO2 charade was started by Margareth Thatcher. She wanted to break ( rightfully ) the power of the unions in England and one way to do this was phase out coal usage for power generation in favour of nuclear. But she needed an argument - economics were against her scheme. Global warming and climate change were the lever she needed, and funding for "scientists" who supported her project skyrocketed "proving" that stones fall upwards. It's like the saying of well known mr Goebbels : keep repeating a big lie often enough and in the end, everybody believes it. And it is easy : 95% of the population is just too stupid to look into the data and understand what it's all about - if ever the data get released as shown in this article.

Kirk, I still see plenty of this grassroots and bottom up enviromentalism around

but yes, the climate change theorists look like a completely different strain of the whole, and top-down, from academia and high politics down to the grassroot enviromentalists

I also see Big Oil and Big Coal getting (according to the IMF) something like 5'000 billion USD of subsidies, worldwide

I also see the new Green Energy Biz getting (again, IMF) something like 190 billion USD of subsidies, worldwide

(and don't forget that Europe and China were nearly getting into a full-blown trade war on solar panels)

the differences are glaring, but there are also some similarities. there are two old dogs there looking squarely at a new dog

the biggest loser at the moment is nuclear. and this is only because of the sheer inanity of Big Nuclear to keep (mostly 2nd gen, i.e. 1970's designs) plants open after they exceeded three times their lifespan, another sign of lobbyism gone crazy, beyond any reason, just for the easy buck now

but I still have a problem calling the whole a "non-democratic, globalist NWO" thing. too easy, too simple, too "exceptionalist"

why "exceptionalist"? because it's a thought process deeply rooted in a country that is used to easily lead/force/cajole the whole world in the directions it chooses

sovereignty, for all other countries, has a lot to do with compromises with other sovereigns. "internationalism", (aka (by now) "globalism") is not something other sovereigns can do without

the smaller, the less so. to the point that the smaller and weaker sovereigns are/become, the more internationalism gets it's traction, particularly since trade is more and more globalized, i.e. globalization

Your video is full of the same hearsay evidence that Smith warns about in the article.  Not once does the guy in the vid produce the raw data backing up his claims.  He is only repeating the unbacked information given to him by climate scientists.  Smith's article is far more intellectually honest than your video.

The claim that "raw" data is not available is false.

it can be accessed with no greater effort than to google "global warming raw data."

How you want to interpret it is another matter.

Thu, 12/17/2015 - 05:52 | 6934127 runningman18

I'm afraid you are a liar.  Climate scientists continue to refuse release of raw data, including the NOAA as Smith cites.  If the raw data is available from the NOAA, for example, then why don't you provide it here if it is so easy to google?

Thu, 12/17/2015 - 07:49 | 6934222 galant

For starters, try NASA raw data downloads at

http://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2015-whats-warming-the-world/

And if you want more there's supporting data for -

- Land surface air temperature

- Sea surface temperature

- Air temperarture over oceans

- Lower troposphere temperatures

- Ocean heat content

-Sea Levels

- Northern hemisphere snow covers

- Glaciers

How much more data do you need?

I suspect no matter who much "raw" data was presented, you would be incapable of entertaining a different viewpoint, anyway.

Thu, 12/17/2015 - 08:19 | 6934316 gmak

NASA has been modifying the data to be lower in the past - specifically the land data. To say that one can access raw data downloads is only true if one knows which datasets have not been modified.

Here is a preamble report about research that shows that scientists lie about data to support their belief system

Here is an article that talks about whistleblowers from the NOAA identifying data modification and how the process is suspect.

Here is an article describing the adjustment process that they do before releasing the data.  In particular pay attention to the fact that the 1999 version of the data is different from the 2012 version of the data.

I asked for RAW DATA.  Do you know what that means?  It means the original experimental data from the original sources.  Where are the peer reviewed and indepedently examined experiments and results?  Where is the individual climate measurments from participating climate stations and participating governments?  Where are the original equations used to produce climate models and the numbers that they plugged into them?  NASA climate models are homogenized and value added hearsay meant for consumption by idiots in the general public and in mainstream journalism (like Bloomberg), not raw data.

I have yet to see a single peice of raw data from any climate scientist let alone you.  I will let you know what I am capable of when I actually see some.

I guess you'll never have to show us "what you are capable of" then because the data that NASA and NOAA & etc are modifying is the "raw" data you claim to want to see and that being the case, you will probably never get to see any raw data since it has mostly been done away with, and what hasn't been destroyed... well... good luck being able to determine what data is real and what is modified.

Yes exactly the dilemma we face. Logically speaking we are simply talking about burning carbon. We know it's bad for our health, like smoking, but it's not obvious what the immediate solution is. I think than Brandon has a point in saying that any reduction in the use of coal in the developing world risks genocide. What can we do if it's true and what do we do if it's false? I think we really don't have much choice, if the world is getting warmer because of humans then that is the way it is. I also believe that fossil fuels are really dirty and we should find a replacement asap.

That entire mentality is spreading like wildfire, and it's going faster and faster.

It's strange that what Snyder is saying, has the same tones as these two articles:

http://www.thenation.com/article/how-to-understand-white-male-terrorism/

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-12-01/dead-white-blue-great-die-ameri...

Both the above authors write for such "progressive" outlets as Nation Magazine.

Max Berger begins his "How to Understand White Male Terrorism" article with an up-front confession that he's a white male. However, he doesn't let the readers know he is also Jewish. If he told the readers he is Jewish, it would shine a light on his entire article as pure racism, and readers would question the credibility of what he is saying. Of course, any sane and intelligent person would question it anyways, but obviously SANE AND SMART people do not read the Nation Magazine.....except when drawn to an article that is simply beyond sane comprehension..

It is just a ploy to continue American hedgemony. The US doesn't want anybody to be economically successful and challenge its role. It won't work. The two biggest players don't buy it. America can go into the hysteria and all the anti-progress activities that accompany it. They will just cripple themselves.

Well here I get to know what its like to be the fat girl at the dance. I think the burning of fossil fuels has not only more of an effect than volcanoes on greenhouse trapping - but its not even close.

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-do-volcanoes-affect-w/

i also think Al Gore is full of shit, and a lot of the science is bad, and dissenting opinions suppressed improperly.

solar output variation and earth wobble - basically no scientists think these effects are equivalent to the man made co2 output. The thing is there really are lots of studies disproving the idea that climate warms or cools directly due to increased sunspotting or flares etc

http://www.skepticalscience.com/solar-activity-sunspots-global-warming.htm
http://m.phys.org/news/2013-12-solar-key-climate.html

https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11650-climate-myths-global-warmin...

The issue is so politicized people get super defensive. We become emotionally invested. And here - politicians and people looking for grants have engaged in fuckery, many models were very wrong or apparently even fudged.

But study Venus for example. That will assure you that the greenhouse affect is real. Then you just ask if human co2 production COMBINED with cutting down huge swaths of rainforest etc. (claims there are more trees now than X years ago generally false by average temp comparison.

So before you junk me - consider that maybe you have been sucked in by the politicization,,but some things like attributing to the sun (or variations in orbit/wobble) just arent true, it seems and the volcanoes thing is just completely wrong - youd get more cooling than warming because of all the other shit in volcanos serves to block solar energy (see link above).

Al Gore may be looking to cash in, doesnt make Co2 not trap heat...

Yes Flakemeister is a douche, and doesnt seem to know much beyond undergrad metereology - but take a step back and consider if the fossil fuels and cutting down trees has really had no effect on atmospheric co2, or some effect or great.

Ive read the earth has not warmed in 15 years. Whether true or not it actually is too short a time period for it to mean much. You look at arctic ice thats a problem, so is lsing ozone.

Im just saying if you can be philosophical, take a step back you might see that there really is evidence for agw, even if a lot of the science is suspect, a lot isnt.

Spend some time studying Venus. Just for the hell of it, removed from this political bullshit. Because while its likely impossible to accurately predict discretely you can accurately predict grossly.

Planting more trees and cutting fossil fuel emissions is a much better call than assuming that scientists studying climate, or astrophysics, or whatever are just entirely wrong about heat trapping via co2.

Even if inaccurate in terms of models theres lots of good reasons to believe that more co2 and less recycling of co2 ( fewer plants, more animals/people and fossil fuel emissions) over time traps heat enough to cause real havic.

*might* this be wrong? Sure, but its *probably* not.

I wish we had more people willing to step back, relax, and consider takibg a fuzzy position in between the poles.

Now - you may commence the junks.

And yet supporters of AGW assert that industrialization, the bulk of which occurred globally from 1970 to 1990 - a 20 year period - DO MEAN 'MUCH'?

In climate cycle terms the last 2000 years 'don't mean much'.   The prevalent climate cycle for millions of years has been one measured in (A) HUNDRED(S) OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS.

In those terms we're due for a return of glaciation.

The main thrust of AGW is that we've not only affected the global climate, but WHOLLY REVERSED AND MORE a climate cycle that has prevailed for many millions of years...in a period of time comprising .001% of that cycle.

The failure to provide raw data, or independent verification to the so-called 'studies' is just icing.   The whole supposition is unsupported, and absurd to boot.

Change one of the assumptions and you change the outcome. Science has never invented or created anything new.  The power inside a atom has been there forever. I believe in data, nothing else. If it's still possible download the raw and adjusted climate datasets from NOAA then plot them in your choice of spreadsheet. Then plot a subtraction of the raw dataset from the adjusted dataset. The raw data will show no warming trend. The 'adjusted' data will show the characteristic 'hockey stick' of 'global warming'. And the subtraction of the raw dataset from the 'adjusted' will show the 'warming trend' consists entirely of arbitrary manual 'adjustments' to the factual data.

When  the ideological spin of climate denialism goes viral and sees a "hidden faustian hand" behind every new "reality" emerging. We do live in make belief.

ZH now concocts its own stew of obscurantist logic to make Von Mises' gold buggery theories find a correlation in the geopolitical game of thrones of the Saud-US fossil alliance now unravelling.

The key to our age : guns/oil/petrodollar Gordian knot protected by the monetary three headed Cerberus : FED/IMF/ECB; Dear Henry's Trilateral now gone NWO global under Reaganomics cum NWO proliferation.

The ecological reality is the disappearance of the Arctic cap and the El Nino pheonomenum. No theory can DENY that.

Trying to use "climate change" as a prefabricated hoax to find an excuse for moar wars is putting the pyramid on its apex. Our way of life under Pax Americana is asymmetric War+ Fossil hegemony under the "massive military supremacy" gun. Nipping in the bud all contestation.

US elites since 60 years have made wars for power and have used fossils to achieve that. Now we have the concomitant blowback of too many guns and too much fossil pollution suffocating the earth-- as people 'ape' the crazy consumerist US model-- feeding the Jihadist rampage of "lost abandoned civilizations" as knee-jerk, as well the Saud feudalist elite's revolt to protect its obscurantist creed and Oil patch.

Indeed, the writing of our age is : "those whom the Gods wish to destroy they first drive mad."-- Just like the fall of Europe during the last century.

And the GOP scions of PAx AMericana ; the leading political matrix today; are a good example of that madness.

Cause and effect of History's timeline gets all mixed up in the ZH spin of "libertarian" ketchuppy flavour.

We are now in Alice in Wonderland logic.

The day the US liquidates the neo-cons and the false nosed populist "libertarians", who play the same hate games, the world will begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

If the US people don't then the world will have to do it. And we will be back to the Renaissance age.

Tipping times and imperial mindset demise.

No quarter to the neo-Habsburgs and their "for us or against us" Inquisitorial order.

In my experience, the global warming crowd (now called climate change to increase the vagueness of the apparent problem) only have two acceptable viewpoints:

1. you either accept everything they claim about AGW and support the growing panoply of carbon taxes, restrictions on personal freedoms and all the rest of it without question,  or

2. you are in complete denial about GW/CC existence.

In there mind, there is no room for anybody who accepts that some climate change is going on but do not accept that it is being caused by humanity due to historical data, poor data and plentiful manipulated data, often accompanied by outright lies from climate scientists with an agenda.

I am on record going back 10 years arguing that we should not focus attention on AGW/ACC because we cannot change it. We should instead focus attention on actions to mitigate its effects. This would include improvements to drainage in risk areas, river dredging where there is a risk of flooding, not building on flood plains and a whole lot of other appropriate measures.

Sadly, the political class never really intended or planned mitigation measures because for them, the whole objective of peddling AGW was to scare people into paying higher taxes to flush on the same old same old socialist programs, mostly unrelated to climate.

More recent data suggests that GW is not happening "as planned" by its advocates and it's fast becoming a nonsense. Nevertheless, we saw another farce going on in Paris recently because the elites are themselves unable to admit the truth that their AGW story is just that: a story of fiction.

Is it any wonder that groing numbers of people around the world are slowly realising that their political elites cannot be trusted.

Add the fallacious "war on terror" into the mix and you have one helluva shambles as we are driven towards a new Dark Age.

As a 12 year old doing some Saturday morning exploring with a BB gun in a woods near home I came upon a 12 inch pipe pumping green bubbly liquid directly into a creek . This was near both a slaughterhouse and a major vacuum sweeper manufacturing plant. I had dad call Department of Natural Resources. The vacuum sweeper company was fined and the pollution stopped. One location. One action . One agency actually doing its job.
The clean air and water acts have worked. A river we fished as kids use to only have carp and bullheads. There are now walleye, salmon and various other species that don't tolerate low oxygen polluted waters.
