Teflon Trump

Tyler Durden's picture

In 13 succinct words, Donald Trump summed up reality in American politics...

Crushing the hopes and dreams of 'the establishment', The Donald continues to surge in popularity as nothing 'sticks' to hit no matter what he says...

Source: The Economist

As The Hill reports, Presidential candidate Donald Trump is enjoying his largest lead over the GOP field following Tuesday's presidential debate, a new poll finds.

The post-debate survey from Public Policy Polling (PPP) released Friday shows the real estate mogul with 34 percent support nationally among GOP voters, up 8 points from a mid-November poll.

Trump's favorability has also grown. He's rated at 51 percent favorable, 37 unfavorable.

“As the year comes to a close Donald Trump is just getting stronger,” Dean Debnam, president of PPP, said in a statement.

“His support for the nomination is growing but so is his overall favorability which suggests his ceiling could be higher than often assumed.”

As the Donald's grip on the nomination gets firmer (Fair process being assumed but not assured), Donald needs to start taking much tighter security arrangements for that private jet? The MIC can't be at all happy about an apparent rapprochement with Russia?

Yeah, he is probably going to need to pop for extra security everywhere, especially the 757, and maybe even a fighter escort..

all of you Trump supporters need to ask yourself what has the rising of Trump done for Hillary Clinton? His rising has completely deflected all of the bullshit that she should be receiving by the mainstream and even zerohedge.com - she shouldn't even be a candidate - she should be in jail. Trump doesn't attack her and why? Because Trump is the Trojan Horse for Hillary and a bigger and more a more non-constitutional, disgusting government then ever before - the true NWO. My stance has always been that Trump is only there to allow Hillary to 'Win'. Don't get me wrong I love what Trump is saying but you think Trump doesn't realize the GOP committee isn't going to nominate him? Come on wake up people

You offer nothing, period. Wake up to what?! You're asking a question akin to a three year old asking why the sun rises each day. If you personally don't know what to do, I can't help you either - use your 'logical' head, step outside the box you think in, and do something that is right for you and your family. The answer is easy - don't buy what you're being sold until you understand and know all aspects of what you are buying. The logical positive alternative is to be objective and wait - if you need me to tell you that you have some growing up to do no matter your age...  like I've said before where have all the good zerohedgers gone...

I could point to Glenn Greenwald and, for that matter, Julian Assange as further obvious examples, but they don't trumpet unnecessary labels.  They obviously know it's the ideas that count.

Even worse, in the real world, libertarians, conservatives and liberal-progressive-whateveryoucallthems agree alot of the time!  Media echo-chambers catering to raw passions while arming the otherwise ignorant with a whole lot of labels to enthusiastically apply to the world are a big problem today.

One of the things I like about ZH is that most here actively reject that.

Peddle that bullshit somewhere else. Muslims have been killing the infidel for 1400 years, don't put this back on us. Were Bush and Obama retarded for stirring up shit over there? Hell, yes. Between the two of them they've wrecked half a dozen secular governments in the middle east, and let them get replaced by Islamic fundamentalist governments. But now that those two asshats have reanimated the corpse of jihadist Islam-- a corpse that we killed in 1683 at the gates of vienna, and threw dirt on top of in 1918 with the destruction of the Ottoman empire-- don't pretend that the dune coons haven't been trying to wipe us off the map for going on two millenia. Maybe declaring war!  Bu come on people....get real.

Spy Magazine.

I remember picking it up to read out of pure curiosity at a BX Bookstore in JPN after I rcvd Orders to a Defense Contracts/Logistic Command Tour in NYC.  I wanted to get more info on NYC Living (House Hunting as well), so I picked up a slew of Mags and Newspapers.  Some of the occasional Lefty/Alternative Ads gave me the heebeegeebees (my Office was in Greenwich Village/NYU - talk about the danger of walking into a "Bizzarro Zone" by taking the wrong turn during lunch, when all the Fashion/Flesh Mag Covers displayed in a typical Newsstand (usually hot dames and others) turn into Gay-LGBT-BDSM Titles; and ROTFL about a weekly newspaper that would list a Male Crossdresser's Ad in the "Men seeking Women" Category in the Personals.  To be fair, it read just like a regular Single Guy looking for a Romantic Relationship with a Lady - until "CROSSDRESSING" was casually inserted btwn the traditional courtship/maritial social activities like  "walks in the park", "tennis", and "night out in town".  Weekly entertainment at lunch break.

I used to commute through the Daytime Version of "Night Court" - glad I lived in a Bachelor Officer Dorm near the Queens/Nassau Border.

Back to Spy.  They had some awesome Sections:

  • Private Lives of Public Figures - Great parody pic of Guliani Flogging himself w/a Cat o'9 Tails-esque Hand Whip while doing his usual Sweat-drenched-Media-Grimace-Smile into the Bathroom Mirror; Pat Buchannan stuffing his face with a variety of ethnic foods to prepare for Campaign Speeches to Ethnic Communities
  • Separated at Birth - Photos of Celebs/Politicians next to Other People/Cartoons/Etc. that make it look as if they were twins/triplets.   (Modern Example: Erdogan and Gollum/Sméagol)
  • Flagship / Annual Spy 100 - Annoying things in (NYC) Life, with at times a "Trump Factor" (valuation on anything that's affiliated or commented on by Mr. Trump) Calculated on the side or as part of the rankings.

Did some searching; and GOOG has it archived.
https://books.google.com/books?id=IQ_TRFid5NMC&source=gbs_all_issues_r&h...

And I did visit several of Trump's Buildings in NYC.  Top Notch.  He also made a Golf Course out of an idle tract of land in Palos Verdes as well.

Trump knows how to use the corporate legal form to his benefit. Every real estate deal is contained in its own legal corporate entity. He has never declared personal bankruptcy (although the liberal media likes to paint it that way to impugn his character); rather, some of his corporate entities have declared bankruptcy.

And how priceless would it be for a President Trump to get up to give the State of the Union address? He looks around at all the senators and congresscritters. He starts with "You guys have ignored the law and ruined the country. Therefore YOU'RE FIRED!"

Considering the State of Bankruptcy the USA has been in since '71 ish, I think "The Donald" is EXACTLY who Americans need, so they can reshuffle this current steaming pile of Debt owed to the FED(and its TBTF Banks) and so many Countries; and make it smell "not-so-bad", or even renegotiating some of it.

You can't fix politics with politics.

You seem to think that Trump being a leading candidate for high political office is a bug in the software.

It's not.  It's a feature.

"As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." H.L. Mencken, 1920.

Canada is fucked-up beyond belief right now, and definitely in no position to "take over" anything. The'll have to put up with their own version of Obozo for quite a few years, and their exports are dead despite having their loonie massacred into nothing. Exports are dead as commodities are dead.  Courtesy of YOUR friends in Saudi Arabia.  And YOUR multi-national oil behemoths.  And YOUR government in the pocket of BIG OIL.  I quoted a big iron mine development and big nickel mine development project recently - and guess what - they are not viable at current prices.  Real estate in major cities (with the exception of Monreal where I live) is overvalued and will crash soon.  What do you suggest we export?  Automotive is dying/dead.  I think California may like some clean water (but they are a little far).  Quebec strippers?  Can't do what they do up here down there!  Maple syrup?  Please!  Bombardier jets?  Maybe with 5 billion $ in subsidies they might sell some.  I disagree with FUBB - I think the whole first world is FUBB - but Canada but I would posit a little less than our friends south of the border!

Incidentally, those Chinese who have been productively generating the wealth to buy up Canada don't believe in the global warming BS (except where it helps them sell something to, or get payments from, idiots in the west), so unlike Canada they aren't wasting their resources on it.

The part I like the most, is all the editorials I'm seeing in the MSM newspapers, written by the usual pack of think-tank clowns, "journalists", etc.

"I don't understand how Trump is so popular..." - is the underlying message that most of these editorials try to convey.

What's not to understand?

The "average voting American" is sick-and-tired of 80 year-old career politicians who represent everyone except America's interests.

I think Americans are probably tired of "Bailouts for Wall Street, Balls-Deep for Main Street".

Americans are tired of "War Whores" like John McCain, who are ready to launch the nukes, the second someone does something he doesn't like.

No Clintons, No Bushes, please! America has had enough of them already.

Trump has been giving pols and the media the level of respect they deserve and has refused to let them walk over him, unlike most of the limpwristed pols.

His statements about foreign leaders, particularly Putin, indicate he respects them and understands the US needs to deal with them in a way that takes account of their interests (hey, just like in business).

Most of the other candidates, including Clinton, Bush, Rubio, have excoriated and demonized Putin.  Do you seriously think that is going to make for constructive negotiations with Russia should any of them become president?

Trump is actually the adult in the campaign and the only leader in the campaign.

The time has come and if it wasnt Trump it would be some other straight talker from outside politics that the people would latch on to. Heck Ross Perot would have a shot. The time is right. Thats all this is. Trump is the medium of the transmission of the peoples sentiment to the politicians.

Go Trump, eh says the Canuck. Cor blimey, that Donald Trump is white hot, says the Brit, Vlad downs a vodka to Trump over in Russia. Even in Japan they say sugoi neh.

This phenomenon (transmission of sentiment through Trump) is global.

There is a ton wrong with America right now. But you people need to relish in watching Trump demolish your establishment. When the Berlin Wall fell was the focus on the guy who first started chipping away? NO! We remember the RESULT. The Wall fell.

Care not who lobs the first salvo into the US political establishment. Care not that this Trump may ruffle some feathers. But be in awe over what this man has accomplished, what NO OTHER MAN IN US POLITICS HAS DONE FOR DECADES.
