The Devil pens a holiday letter.
Through means I am unable to disclose, I have obtained a copy of the Devil's Christmas letter. Yes, Satan too sends a Yule letter, and no, I was not on his mailing list. I think Satan's Holiday cheer should give us all pause.
"To my fallen angels Beelzebub, Lucifer and Leviathan, princes of Hell's demons, and to my minions, lackeys, toadies and sycophants on Earth:
Due to the high cost of postage, please accept this miserly digital version of my holiday missive.
As you know, this time of year usually finds me quite despondent, as the Prince of Peace's influence waxes most atrociously around his birthday. But this year I am in fine spirits, nay, let me even declare myself absolutely giddy, for the destruction of the United States of America by its own citizenry and government draws ever nearer.
Though my minions have long sown festering seeds of hate and disharmony in that now-benighted land, my favored weapons of destruction--leverage, debt, half-truths and endless, self-serving justifications for greed, sloth, lust, pride, envy, anger and gluttony--have wormed their way into the stricken heart of that Republic and are now the default setting of American culture.
My minions in the Federal Reserve - such loyal servants! - continue feeding an orgy of leverage and debt, spreading ruination under the false guise of prosperity. What a delicious irony, that the fools doomed to eternal damnation in my Empire believe themselves prosperous as they absorb the poison of exponentially rising leverage and debt.
My lackeys in the Central State have made a mockery of the rule of law, letting financial crimes go not just unpunished but rewarded. The blatant injustice that roams the land like a foul, slobbering beast--there are two sets of laws and two sets of books now, one for the financial Elites and their political toadies, and another one for the tax donkeys beneath them--this will eventually ignite the firestorm I seek.
American extravagance has surpassed even my highest expectations, as purveyors of luxury goods reap record profits, and the childish desire for instant gratification has become the unspoken ruler of the land. Convenience is now worshipped as a god, sitting triumphant beside entitlement, greed, indignation and willful ignorance.
Convenience is, as you all know, the name of a peculiarly slick slide into Hell.
One of my favorite sins, gluttony, is running amok, with half of the people groaning under their own weight, sickened and weakened. My loyal minions in the fast-food and packaged food industries have followed my plans to perfection, and my lackeys in the marketing and media have fueled the instant gratification and ignorance which insidiously undermine even the greatest empires.
Pride--oh, how the Americans excel at hubris and pride! The Federal Reserve chairperson, bless her doomed soul, has declared herself 100% confident about an economy that is nothing but a confidence game. Oh, what joy to hear her lies spoken with such confidence!
The mere thought of the word greed cause me to chuckle delightedly, as the U.S. excels as a haven for greed without bounds, a greed so boundless that the entire universe would be insufficient to satisfy its bankers, hedge fund managers, high-frequency traders, Imperial factotums and politicians. How happy I am to see their greed grease their way into Hell.
I feel like dancing a jig when I hear the unbridled sense of entitlement which has poisoned the American spirit. Yes, let greed and avarice be cloaked with rationalizations--"I was promised," "It's my right," "I deserve it"--it is wondrous indeed how my secret invention, "free money," debilitates once-independent souls.
Anger is now overflowing everywhere, building my empire with every thoughtless word. Politicians rage against each other, the people rage against the politicians, and behind the scenes my servants in the political action committees feed the anger with billions of dollars in campaign donations. How amusing to see the politicos lay claim to noble ideals even as they scramble on their knees to collect the millions tossed at their feet to do my bidding.
Oh yes, my bidding, for their greed, pride and anger are my bidding. By all means, politicians, do my work: give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy, let financial crimes go unpunished, allow the financial Elites' looting to go unhindered, transfer the wealth earned by the citizens' sweat to the financial Elites when their trillion-dollar bets go bad--fuel the anger which will tear you from power, and tear the country apart.
This chart of rising wealth inequality warms my heart, for it will foment revolution as night follows day.
The nation bleeds itself with unwinnable wars, sacrificing its youth on the altar of endless war--how can I not rejoice at this orgy of death, destruction and sowing of hate? The feeble liars at the nation's helm print endless sums to fund war and to prop up vile tyrants, but offer nothing for libraries or literacy or the curing of malaria. How can I not rejoice at a nation which finds trillions for war and next to nothing to fight the diseases of the poor residents of former colonies, including that Prince of Disease, ignorance.
As for sloth--that millions are being paid to sit around watching television instead of being productive creates the perfect breeding ground for resentment, malice and envy. How perfect to pay people to sit at home and rot away, with only their discontent and despair for company.
As you know all too well, idle hands end up doing my piecework for free.
It was almost beyond my dreams to find the nation's wealth and politics so dominated by a tiny handful of wealthy financial plutocrats--they are doing my bidding without hindrance, though I see by their troubled sleep that they know where their greed and rationalizations are taking them. To channel the nation's wealth to a few hands--what better way to nurture envy and anger?
If ignorance were treasure, the American political class must be declared wealthier than Midas, for its ignorance and hubris have reached a pinnacle I can truly admire. Ensnared by their lust for power, blinded by their greed for fame and perquisites, they look no further than the next election cycle, dooming their nation to division, disharmony and the desolation of permanent conflict over the dwindling productive assets of this once-great nation.
The people cry out to be saved by the government, as if it was a Savior instead of a vast machine consolidating the wealth of the nation in the hands of the few at the expense of the many, "investing" it in corruption, parasitic financial schemes, military misadventures, Homeland "Security"--ha, isn't that a jewel, as the nation withers from within--and the unyielding oppression of the remaining productive members of society.
The leaders are themselves leaderless, blank, hollowed-out souls doing the bidding of their parasitic masters, focused only on keeping the corrupt and venal status quo together for a few more months, never looking out ten years. Political expediency is my favored tool, and it is now the default mode of the nation's corrupted political class.
I delight in that shortsightedness, that abject fear of change and transformation, that clinging to failure and pride, that refusal to face reality.
For the U.S.A. is now an Empire of Debt and Lies, its fraudulent financial system built on misrepresentations of risk and value, and its economy a con game based on illusory wealth, parasitic skimming, and government protection of privilege.
This adolescent desire to believe the lies, because in believing the lies then nothing need change--this might be my most powerful destructive tool.
A hunger for fantasy and illusion, a fear of adaptation, a childish demand for instant gratification--these are forces I can rely on to lead the once-great country to absolute ruin.
And here is the beautifully evil part, my minions--no external enemy is required. The Americans are destroying themselves with their reliance on leverage, debt, denial, half-truths and overflowing servings of the Seven Deadly Sins, all of which they have elevated to "assets" in their hopelessly twisted values. To be supremely unproductive, a churner of lies and financial trickery, is now the most rewarded and admired state in America.
The spiritual rot is now so deep and pervasive that the people no longer even recognize the decay--they have been lulled into a false belief that this culture of fraud, embezzlement, manipulations, propaganda and parasitic financial Elites has always held sway. This is precisely how a people act when they have lost their way, spiritually and morally: they elevate sins to virtues, and forget the lessons of their past.
And of course everyone claiming that there is no spiritual vacuum sucking the nation dry, that the status quo is simply "business as usual"--they are doing my work, too, for habituating to all that is corrupt and reprehensible, all that is lacking in integrity and honesty, this is doing my work most admirably.
Americans no longer hate me, they hate sacrifice, with a passion that enlivens my enthusiasm for their self-destruction.
How can I not be pleased this season? At long last, the destruction of the United States by its own citizens is close at hand. Give me ten years, minions, and I shall insure they will finally begin reaping what they have sown.
Ignorance, my poor dear Americans, will not save you, nor will your endless parade of excuses, justifications and rationalizations. Indeed, they are my weapons which you drive deeper into your nation's heart with every lie, every excuse, every frantic justification for your own entitlement.
I await 2016 with high expectations.

Quite the entertaining article. However, philosophically speaking, that was based upon insufficient sympathy for Satan.
The article itself continues to indulge in the Satanic Thinking based upon the dualities of false fundamental dichotomies and impossible ideals. As soon as we perceive human beings as separated from their environment and each other, then they necessarily live as gangs of robbers. The biggest and best organized gangs of robbers have become the bankster controlled governments. However, the deeper sources of that are due to the ways that the basic concept of SUBTRACTION necessarily leads to ROBBERY, with the systems of governments enforcing frauds by private banks becoming symbolic robberies:
In my view, Hugh-Smith is merely another of the typical kind of "controlled opposition" which is the most common kind of content published on Zero Hedge, as was described by Cognitive Dissonance as: "The absolute best controlled opposition is one that doesn't know they are controlled."
I outline some
basic theology:
Energy is Spirit,
Entropy is the scientific Satan.
The entropy equations in thermodynamics and information theory had arbitrary minus signs inserted, as some of the many ways that the philosophy of science engaged in series of compromises with the biggest bullies' bullshit world views. Hence, the meaning of the concept of entropy was reversed, while almost everyone continues to take that for granted. Similarly, that means that the ways that people misunderstand the concept of evil are quite pervasive and ubiquitous.
The results have become quite hyper-complicated, since what the biggest bullies have done is effectively negate their negations, by presenting subtraction of their subtractions. By those means, they are able to publicly present NEGATIVE AS IF POSITIVE. Therefore, the genuine solutions to the resulting problems must become negations of that negation of negations, or subtractions of the subtraction of subtractions. Money As Debt is Negative Capital, which destroys "free market capitalism." However, the banksters are able to publicly present that kind of negative "money" AS IF it were positive money, all of which takes place inside the overall context that money is measurement backed by murder, as the most abstract way that private property is based upon backing up claims with coercions, which privatization of the environment had its philosophical source in the attempts to privatize God.
EVERYONE, as soon as one perceives them as separated from the environment and each other, necessarily lives as entropic pumps of environmental energy flows, or as systems of organized lies operating robberies. Those who were the best at doing that developed the currently established systems of bankster controlled governments, operating through political economy based upon POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS.
However, the relatively few people who perceive that tend to continue to be stuck inside of perceiving the world through various DUALITIES, using false fundamental dichotomies, and therefore, promoting bogus "solutions" based upon impossible ideals, that always backfire badly, and actually cause the opposite to happen. That is because there is almost nothing which exists now but core of organized crime (bankster controlled governments), surrounded by various layers of controlled opposition groups (those whose "solutions" are still based upon Satanic Thinking, although they tend to not understand that they are doing that.)
From the point of view that Energy IS Spirit, everything that happens is already Perfect, inasmuch as Energy is always being conserved. However, the degree to which we have misunderstood the concept of entropy, by pretty well having totally inverted it as much as possible, also means that we have simultaneously reversed our understanding of evil.
Within that context, while the article above was entertaining and accurate, it nevertheless continued to be too superficial. Rather than continuing to rely upon the old-fashioned DUALITIES of false fundamental dichotomies, and hence bogus "solutions" based upon impossible ideals, we should rather start to use more UNITARY MECHANISMS. After one more fully understands how and why governments are necessarily the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangsters, the banksters, the genuinely realistic resolutions of those real problems are the opposite of what the controlled opposition groups tend to promote.
Citizens are members of an organized crime gangs called their countries. The degree to which they do not understand that, because they have been conditioned to not want to understand that, is the degree to which they have degenerated into being Zombie Sheeple. Their plight is made even worse by the degree to which they are exhorted by the various controlled opposition groups, who are merely Black Sheeple, to go backwards to old-fashioned religions and ideologies, in order to follow old-fashioned impossible ideals to "solve" their problems continue to backfire badly, and cause the opposite to happen in the real world.
Meanwhile, the Vicious Wolves, and their more Domesticated Dogs, continue to be able to herd the masses of Zombie Sheeple, in the ways outlined by Hugh-Smith in the article above. However, he does not perceive the degree to which he continues to actually be controlled opposition, or another of the Black Sheeple, whose exhortations to the masses of Zombie Sheeple are actually repetitions of the repertoire of professional hypocrites.
I REPEAT the basic theology: Energy IS Spirit, and therefore, the Universe is already perfect, including the degree to which the biggest and best organized gangs of criminals have made and maintained the social pyramid systems of civilization that we are currently living inside, which are were the most expedient sets of solutions to chronic political problems inherent in the nature of life.

That hemp, which is the best plant on the planet for people, for food, fiber, fun and medicine, could be re-branded by politicians who are the banksters' puppets as "marijuana which is almost as bad as murder," was the simplest symbol and most extreme example of the degree to which the USA governments, and pretty well all of the rest of world's governments, are controlled by the same globalized gangs of criminals, i.e., Satan and his minions.
Meanwhile, useless ad hominem replies like the one above are merely further confirmation of the degree to which the world is overflowing with incompetent political idiots, who have nothing relevant to add to any relatively rational political discussions. Therefore, the article was quite correct in presuming that the established debt slavery systems, which have already generated numbers which are debt insanities, are therefore going to provoke death insanities, while the only thing which has postponed that from happening is the degree to which no sane people would want to start those death insanities happening ... but nevertheless, the inherent structure of the runaway systems of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS must inevitably drive that to happen. As Satan says in the article above:

Eventually, the accumulating socialized losses, especially the destruction of the natural world, could cause the extinction of the human species, as the "logical" result of civilization being controlled by backing up lies with violence, i.e., controlled by Satan and his minions. Fundamentally fraudulent financial accouting systems, which exist due to being able to successfully apply the methods of organized crime through the political processes, have resulted in civilization behaving in ways which have become runaway criminal insanities. Which means that by the time that people may be forced to change, there will barely be any options left regarding how to adapt to having already strip-mined the planet's natural resources to exhaustion, leaving mostly garbage and pollution behind for future generations.
Of course, theoretically speaking, there were an abundance of creative alternatives, and there may well be more developed, however, the established systems of debt slavery have already made it practically impossible to do anything now except by creating more "money" out of nothing as debts to "pay" for doing those alternatives, while the problems have already become overwhelming levels of debt insanities, that have already been generated by the runaway debt slavery systems. Those who controlled those systems were able to apply their methods of the vicious spirals of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS to favour all of the worst technologies to be developed, while most of the other better theoretically possible alternatives were deliberately suppressed.
Criminalizing cannabis, as a system of huge legalized lies, backed by lots of legalized violence, which was about 75% of the War on (some) Drugs, has been overtaken by the BIGGER LIES that started the War on Terror, which has become so many orders of magnitude worse that the War on Drugs is no longer needed by the ruling classes to control those that they rule over. Instead, the bullshit manifestation of mainstream morons' "legalizing marijuana" is demonstrating how there is no reasonable hope for the foreseeable finite future of either America or the world. The original Pot Prohibition based on Reefer Madness is changing NOT on the basis of more HEMP TRUTH, but rather, on the basis of compromises with the same old huge lies, so that the regulation and taxation of "legalized marijuana" is becoming Pot Prohibition 2.0, based on Reefer Madness 2.0. Cultivating more cannabis would be one of the most "Green" things we could do. However, that continues to suffer from the effects of decades of complete criminalization, as well as generally suffers from how every industry has been warped by the wishes of the oligarchical plutocracy wanting to centralize their controls, and especially, their control over everything by being able to create the public "money" supply as debts, which debt slavery systems have already become such extreme levels of debt insanities, that it is extremely difficult to imagine where the "credit" could come from to enable the cultivation of cannabis to sufficiently recover, particularly because it will likely continue to suffer under the burden of ridiculous regulations and taxation, etc. ...
Of course, the same thing would apply to any "monetary system reforms." Those have not happened in any other ways than done by professional hypocrites. There are no good grounds to doubt that the currently established social systems are too terminally sick and insane to recover. Rather, that those systems have become electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs, instead of still merely being paper frauds backed by gunpowder weapons, which means that when those systems destroy themselves, their destruction will then become trillions of times worse than we can currently comprehend or fully imagine.
Ironically, that appears to be the only thing that is keeping the established systems still going, namely, that the psychotic breakdowns and crazy collapses into chaos of globalized systems of electronic frauds backed by atomic bombs will correspond to series of social storms blowing through whose severity will far surpass anything that previously happened in human history. The ability to continue to enforce frauds pumped up with technologies that have become trillions of times more powerful and capable will finally result in their insane self-destruction being done at similar levels of magnitude.
Whenever I read useless ad hominem replies like the one above, that tends to confirm my view that there are no reasonable hopes for the finite future of the sociopolitical systems which have become so totally dominated by Satan and his minions, who are surrounded mostly by the masses of muppets who they have been able to deceive. Absolutely brilliant piece of work. Better that Mephisto's monologue from Faust or Adso's delirious dream from The Name of the Rose. At first, I read the article like any other article; as I was reading I felt the the power of its words exploding. I started reading it again but with loud voice, with theatrical intonations, imagining a Satan character on a stage, facing its public in the dark.
If I was young again, in the high school or a student, I would have performed this piece at one of the drama shows
