Chipotle Pukes Another 5% After CDC Reports "Another More Recent Ecoli Outbreak"
And the hits keep coming...
- *CDC INVESTIGATING ANOTHER, MORE RECENT OUTBREAK OF E. COLI
- *CDC: 53 INFECTED WITH E.COLI STEC 026 REPORTED FROM 9 STATES
And the stock is down over 5% now...
One more ill person has been reported from Pennsylvania since the last update. This person did not report eating at Chipotle Mexican Grill in the week before November 14, 2015, when illness started.
Reports to PulseNet of new illnesses in this outbreak have slowed substantially since the peak of the outbreak in October 2015. The most recent person reporting Chipotle exposure became ill on November 10, 2015.
CDC is investigating another, more recent outbreak of a different, rare DNA fingerprint of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O26 (STEC O26) linked to Chipotle Mexican Grill. Because it is not known if these infections are related to the larger, previously reported outbreak of STEC O26 infections, these illnesses are not being included in the case count for that outbreak. This investigation is ongoing.
- 5 ill people have been identified in Kansas (1), North Dakota (1), and Oklahoma (3).
- The illnesses started on dates ranging from November 18, 2015 to November 26, 2015.
- All five (100%) reported eating at a Chipotle Mexican Grill in the week before illness started.
Dip-buyers have tried to catch this plunging knife every time on every Ecoli headline... it hasn't worked so far...

South Park again nailed it
Does Ecoli add a tangy or zesty flavor?
Explosive
Long Chipoltlaway!
The Bacterial Burrito, on sale every day at Shitpolte for only $3.99, colon cleaning goodness in every bite...
So who actually owns controlling interest in this company? Is just seems like a contrived attack...
i think at this point, i'd rather get the heimlich maneuver from Barney Frank than do lunch at my local Chipotle !
Bareny Frank, LOL - there's a nasty blast from the past.
Yep, I think it's due to their ban on GMO ingredients though. Does anyone honestly believe that the KFC, McDonald's or Taco Bell supply lines are cleaner or healthier?
Chipoltle is supposed to be healthy right? (never eaten there)
Probably more fresh veggies. Veggies tend to carry E. Coli more than the overprocessed stuff.
And the Taco Bell "spice" is actually just a disinfectant. So says my colon.

About 2 weeks ago a Seattle chipotle was closed by the health department for violations on multiple occasions. Specifically mentioned was not keeping food hot enough to prevent bacterial growth.
So, I don't think it's the vendors. I think it's the food prep employees. If the bathrooms have those motion sensor sinks and soap dispensors, which pretty much never work, it means nobody ever washes their hands.
Sorry,Ns. Your posts seem rather needy lately.
Time to go long on toilet paper......
Or diapers and underwear
Where's it gonna trade if somebody croaks?
Depends delivery have been up 300% over the last three months at 33 Liberty St lately.
This explains why Hillary spent so much time in the can!
Well, I wouldn't blame Chipotle. Shrillary has always been full of shit. She must have stunk the place up real bad, nobody was aloud in while she was there.
The paint probably peeled off of the walls after she was in there.
Allowed you fucking retard!
Could work both ways Doc, would you wanna hear her talk? I sure as hell wouldn't start a conversation with her.

All fst food restaurants have food poisoning reports at some time or another (low wage workers and products you put in your body are an acident waiting to happen). At least with Chipotle, the product prepared correctly won't kill you... unlike McD's or Taco Bell.
Ever since Chipotle went non-GMO, it seems afflicted with E coli and bad news.
Coincidence?
It's also the filthy, tattooed, gauged out heathen they employ.
Precisely. Whether they wash their hands and how they handle the food are key.
It's amazing that other restaurants aren't having this problem--they are hiring the same folks.
What they are NOT saying is how many people are *dying* from eating GMO shit from McD's, Jack in the Crack, Booger Fling, Taco Hell etc. In fact, I bet more people get sick daily eating that crap than have gotten sick in the entire history of Chipotle. I smell 'bias' here...
THIS APPEARS TO BE THE CRUX OF THIS OUTBREAK. THESE OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER CHIPOTLES AS A COMPANY DECIDED TO GO "GMO " FREE ON ALL THEIR PRODUCTS. I THINK THIS IS AN ATTACKED BY COMPANIES LIKE MONSANTO WHO WOULD DO ANYTHING TO STOP A HUGE COMPANY LIKE CHIPOTLES FROM GOING GMO FREE. THIS WOULD START A LANDSLIDE IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS TO SEE WHO'S COULD ELIMINATE GMOS?
Wow. You really think those other companies give a rat's ass where they source their product? In the big picture, Chipotle is a pimple on an elephant's ass.
The lesson for Chipotle is if you're going to source "local and organic" you'd be well served to verify sanitation policies.
In 25 years of trucking, I've picked up at food producers big and small. I can assure you the most stringent sanitation/bio hazard policies are at the big multi nationals.
Manure=organic.
Chems=not organic.
I would say organic nowadays can be pretty risky. You have to source your manure as well. What are those animals being fed? Pumped with?
We all know diet will affect your gut flora.
With organic, or natural ferts, you have a lot more things to take into account than chemicals. Not really a GMO issue.
pods
Big difference between organic and GMO: when organic bites you, it's usually acute and over with fast. With GMO, it takes a while but it eventually builds up and can cause chronic problems (and cancers) that most would never associate with food, such as many autoimmune disorders caused by exposure to Roundup and genes from bt-toxin containing GMO corn that eventually become expressed by your gut bacteria.
So, it's basically 'pick your poison.' I'd rather take that one in 100,000 chance of getting diarrhea for a few days than end up unable to eat ANY GMO-containing food without going into fetal position - which is exactly where I am now.
Edit: here's a link to one article which talks about bacteria in the gut taking up genes and producing herbicides in your own intestines:

If I have time, tonight I'll post something I've posted before on GMO foods and the Roundup/BT-Toxin connection, with links. I used to work on Bacillus thuringiensis - a sister bacteria to Bacillus anthracis, and the one that BT toxin was taken from and introduced into corn.

Having healthy gut bacteria may crowd out harmful pathogens, much like a thick lawn crowds out weeds. If the gmo and pesticides/herbicides are killing off your gut bacteria, it leaves room for dangerous bugs to grow.
I'll take my chance with the organic foods. It has bacteria too, but more likely the "right" ones that evolved along with us over thousands of years.
Annual restaurant sales... $709 billion
Shitpotle sales... $1 billion
So, there's a big conspiracy trying to take down a company with .0014% of the market.
Sure, why not.
As you state .0014% doesn't affect the industry, but if people start demanding GMO free foods it will have a huge impact (See all natural burger at Carl's Junior).
If you can get people to think the "fresh food" stores are dirty or unsafe, you don't have to worry about people demanding Taco Bell goes GMO free.
Jesus wept.
Look at the people that eat at those places...
They don't give a flying fuck about what they eat. If they did they wouldn't be there.
GMO or otherwise.
I'd ask this bps in any sector.
Agree. My spidy sense is telling me this is suspicious. Infective dose for toxic Ecoli is generally very low. It wouldn't take much to contaminate and produce a large epidemic. I've worked with Shigella ( closely related to ecoli) and the ID was just a few cells. Lick your finger and wow, the worst gastric hell of your life. These strains are not on the bioterrorist list that I know of so procuring them would not be inordinately difficult. However, one would never use an exotic rare strain because that would be suspicious.
Most food poisoning is not reported because most people recover on their own after a few days. These ecoli strains that can produce organ damaging toxins ( HUS) are biologically more prevalent because of feedlots of cattle being feed GMO corn. Go back to normal farming practices and they would eventually disappear and I'd eventually be out of a job. This wouldn't be such a bad thing for society.

Hey now! Let's not have your science get in the way of blaming hippies, progressives and liberals for wanting non-GMO foods. I trust in lab food with a level of complexity we are yet to fully understand far better than farming methods that are thousands of years old with selectively bred crops. I prefer my carrots to have green monkey kidney DNA chains to ensure juiciness. Those horny monkeys would have eventually gotten around to breeding with carrots Monsanto just gave them a helping hand (job). Now please enough with your science background informed opinions we are trying to scapegoat here!
Exactly they are supposed to be this great organic non presertative non GMO food restaurant...but if you do not use those so called bad chemicals...you get the diseases they protect you from....I even bet when they clean their kitchens they do not use chemicals as that is the green way....as more and more greeny restaurants that tout the organic crap are started..this will become the norm in food service...as all those diseases that chemicals protect us from will be in full bloom in their crappy hippie restaurants
I guess I missed the constant ecoli outbreaks In Restaurants in the few hundred years prior to GMO creating in the 1990's. Yep, damn hippies trying to give people the choice between lab created food and that which evolved naturally.
They just used to call it "food poisoning." It has always been present.
And youngman brings up another point. What chems are they using on the equipment, produce, etc?
You will have certain strains of bacteria and other bugs that are more favored in certain environments.
Look at the water supply. You have this "pink" bacteria that thrives in a chloramine rich environment. It IS natural selection.
Could be E. Coli has been naturally selected to thrive somewhere upstream in their fert chain? Who knows.
We deal with this in pharma manufacturing. You have to keep running plates to determine if your process is working, and you can see certain bugs do better than others in even this environment.
Could also be humans poor resistance to these bugs. Immune system doesn't properly identify the bugs. Shit, look at the alarming rates of allergies now.
We are a very sick people. And it is certainly NOT just the fault of GMOs.
pods
Bacteria have a generation about every 20 minutes. Now some have evolved to live on plastics in biofilms that resist all antibiotics. Central line infections in hospitals are exploding because of this.
Life evolves to survive. Bacteria can just do it damn faster than we ever hope to. So much for the so called superior brain.
Miffed
I guess you slept through the tainted tomoto e-coli outbreak that Wendy's had in 2009? Or Jack in the Box in 1993? Or Sizzler in 2000? Or Taco Bell in 2006? Ever hear of Dole baby spinach linked to e coli?
Chipotle is shit food marketed towards shit for brains who think by purchasing their alternative menu, they are saving the world and themselves.
The useless mouthbreather who work there are no better than the useless mouth breathers at any other minimum wage job, except the MCD workers dont purport to be SJWs.
You get what you pay for, and in the case of Chipotle, you also get to spend some extra time on the shitter.
Same as it ever was.
Whatever.
I don't know where you see these skanks. Maybe in your head as you type?
I have seen quite a few cute young white girls work there.
You sounds depressed, maybe need some fiber and vegetables in your diet? Try prunes for your mental constipation.
Yuk!
Warsh yo friggin hands!!
I get a stomach ache now just hearing their name. That can't be good for future business.
no matter, hedgetard growth chasers will step in and send this right back up tomorrow
Nice. Imagine saying, I didn't just get the ordinary Ecoli that makes you shit out your guts, I got the rare Shiga toxin-producing E-coli 26 that makes me bleed out my asshole while shitting my brains out. Lucky me.
Do the finger check...
Those could be bleeding hemorrhoids.
Another tell tale sign is the sudden urge to scoot across the carpet on your ass with your ankles up.
Shitpotle
Is it the beans? Or the frank?
How did you get the beans above the Frank?
You pick a fight with Monsanto. This is the consequence.
I hate Monsanto.
No shit?
I don't like Chipotle. I prefer some burrito with my rice.
So tru! Burrito is like 80% rice...and its a salty kind of rice too.
And why do idiots on ZH think that e coli is more likely to be on non-GMO as it is on GMO? Its all in the preparation and storage of the food. Nothing to do with whether said food was GMO or nonGMO.
GMO is a buzzword to most here. Nothing more.
Just like HAARP, Chemtrails, and the PPT.
Easy canned answer to many problems.
Now, if through the GMO lens, people were to speak about selection of plant species with more of a certain protein that is a known inflammatory substance, that is a serious discussion.
Most just say GMO as a way to answer a complex question.
pods
I use GMO Warming.
Covers everything.
I tried this once in Portland and I don't get what the big deal is. I thought it was shitty tex-mex. Hell, I go to the unlicensed Taco Trucks all the time (and lord knows what goes on in back) and never had a problem.
Like any chain food store they employ the absolute dregs of humanity. They should hose them down before they get on the chow line.
That'll teach 'em for going non-GMO.
From monsanto with love
Steve Ells is one of the most overpaid CEOs in the world, and that is saying something.
Chipolte's E coli (a gut bacteria) troubles started when they started buying "sustainable" meats. Smithfield Foods, Tyson Foods and other mainstream meat processors are the solution. Having sanitary employees is a must too.
Monsanto troll, you are!!
You are ass-backwards wrong. But I have worked in modern hogs for 18 years and am the family butcher too.
I'll bet you anything that this is a Monsanto-engineered takedown. That is an evil corporation--will stoop to the dirtiest dirty tricks, to prevent other large restaurant chains from announcing that they too are "GMO-free, organic".
What is amazing, after watching the peanut gallery mock chipotle, is the fact that E. coli is only found in human sewage, since it is an essential gut flora for humans.
So, some one is essentially polluting this corporation that wants to give people real food, instead of gmo garbage.
And you idiots who talk shit about it are essentially showing you are cuckservatives, since you all worship trump and putin.
Right wing Americans during my life seem to always have been cuckservatives.
Cuckservatives?
Sorry. That one only had an 8 day shelf-life even among the dumbest liberals.
Chipolte= real food? More like Taco Bell for clueless PR infected hipsters.
I rest my case.
I worked at Taco Bell as a yute, and they use grade d beef product.
I have watched the chipotle people fry beef and chicken on their grill.
You have zero case on this subject. In fact, you are a grade A idiot mouth breather.
PS
Shovelhead, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
" Would you like a side of pseudomonas with that E coli? "
" How about an order of organically grown, non-GMO botulism? "
They seem very popular right now and won't offend any Oberlin students either.
Resturant darling Chipotle announced today it was adding handles to all of its toliets nationwide starting in 2016. Chipotle CEO Steve Ells said, "It was the right think to do for our loyal customers. It's bad enough we gave them the shits, but to have them liftoff from one of our toliets and go through the ceiling was completely unacceptable." Critics say, however, this was just another instance of big business covering its ass. Insiders from Lloyds of London back of this claim by confirming Chipotle has bought a speciality line of insurance that covers EColi poisoning, liability coverage for Ecoli induced dynamic motion events as well as comphrensive coverage for restrooms (said to cover damage to plumbing, stalls, and professional HAZMAT cleanup).
UPDATE: The situation has become so serious, President Obama is expected to address it in a Christmas Eve Oval Office address.
only 5%?
They should be calling for Steve Ells' oddly narrow head.
Great headline!
In this neck of the woods the bloom was long off the rose - it used to be a line out the door, now you can pretty much walk to the counter and get your food. Maybe the fact that you can get the same thing at a dozen other loaf of meat and rice joints has cut into their niche? And seriously, even without e.coli, you can just assume you're taking a shower after that loaf gets thru your gulliver....
Enjoy your meal! Free feces on your food with every order.
I wonder how many people are getting tapeworms, this is how their tiny eggs are spread when someone wipes their ass but doesn't wash their hands.
Reminds me of eating at SubWay. Every time I have one of their subs I get a massive gut ache, explosive crap.
It's likely the employees not sanitizing their hands properly after taking a dump (or touching the door knob to the mens room as they leave, even if they did wash their hands that thing is covered with feces.
Also, whoever picked the veggies in the field may not have been the most sanitary hands that touched the produce. Not to mention you've got minimum wage workers who really don't care if they are cleaning up properly, and old meat juice laying around will get you every time
Also, whoever picked the veggies in the field may not have been the most sanitary hands that touched the produce.

I'm in the produce business, the one thing you always notice driving past the fields, not a bathroom for miles.
Reminds me of eating at SubWay. Every time I have one of their subs I get a massive gut ache, explosive crap.
Very possible it's the bread.
After having sinus alergies, insomnia and upset stomach (which I thought was lactose intollerance), I stopped eating wheat, sugar and all starches. Paleo.
After 3 days all my symptoms were gone.
If you drink a lot of real cheap beer like I do, you have the explosive squirts all the time!! So even if I did have a case of e Coli I wouldn't notice.
But after reading all this I washed my hands the last time I went; then I washed my mouse, and then my keyboard and office doorknobs, then I went looking for those Nitril gloves I've got around here somewhere!!!
Then I noticed I was Obsessive Compulsive!
Don't want to get sick? Pick it and cook it yourself!!!
And 46 people out of the millions that eat at Chipolte is a drop in the bucket. Maybe they didn't wash their hands!!!!
The Old Man
Beer --> upset stomach. See my comment about wheat above.
In the olden days, cheap beer was protection against water-born diseases, because the beer water is fermented/filtered/heated. If anything this would prevent you from getting sick from a pathogen.
crap...people pay extra for the e. coli weight loss....just need to change the marketing. Bet you losses 5-10 in 3 days
Its got to be their employees.
I can't imagine the sanitary habits of their lowly educated, pierced, hipster employees.
Apes with iPhones.
Here is a real-world algorithm:
How one might short sell Chipolata in the equities market:
1. Visit Chipolata restaurants.
2. Dress like new employee.
3. Walk into the kitchen.
4. Add secret ingredients to their food menu, (e.i., E. Coli solution in a spray bottle).
5. Walk out the back door and on to the next town.
Questions?
What would stop the same from shorting and making a killing with other publicly traded food service companies?
Would this be classified as terrorism?
What other equities could be short sold? and How?
I know, I know, you can't make a profit, without using your mexico supplier!...
Keep the mexican grower, change the mexico supplier...Try califa.
Yep It's "due to their ban on GMO ingredients"
Funny how they just can't get their food e-coli free.
The globalists are targeting their anti-GMO enemy. Gmo poisoning with Roundup weed killer is a critical part of the globalist
poisoning agenda to handicap the public with toxic injury so they can't think straight ajnd possibly oppose their capture, domination and control.
Pretty sure the CDC is a private company, maybe shorted stock beforehand. I am going to go with industrial espionage.
While e.coli IS bad it is worth considering that whatever is going wrong here is actually much more gross but the symptoms are similar to e.coli. Are we trusting the CDC when they say it is e.coli?
Many here are suggesting that "somebody" is punishing Chipotle for going GMO-free. This could well be the case. But couldn't this string of bad news also be linked to the "financial market"? CMG has a lofty valuation for a restaurant chain (restaurant = tech? WTF?) and a lot of money could be made if this stock tanks within a relatively short time frame. And it should be pretty easy to down this "amazing growth story" with an abysmal Q4 and a terrible outlook for 2016.
Bottom line: I would be quite curious to know who opened large short positions on Chipotle stock around September/Oktober 2015.
