The New World Disorder - How Empires Die

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted Jeff Thomas via InternationalMan.com,

The state-owned Bank of China has been ordered by an American court to hand over customer information to the US. The bank has refused to comply, as to do so would violate China’s privacy law. The US court has subsequently ordered the Bank of China to pay a fine of $50,000 per day.

Any guess as to how this is likely to turn out?

China is a sovereign nation, halfway around the globe from the US, yet the US seems to feel that it’s somehow entitled to set the rules for China (as well as the other nations in the world). When China sees fit to develop islands in the South China Sea that it has laid claim to for centuries, it begins to hear threatening noises from the US military. A candidate for US president declares that he would buzz the islands with Air Force One, the Presidential jet, saying, "They'll know we mean business."

All over the world, those who live outside the US are increasingly observing that the US has become so drunk with power that they’re threatening both friend and foe with fines, trade restrictions, monetary sanctions, warfare, and invasions.

And in so-observing, those of us who have studied the history of empires note that history is once again repeating itself. Time and time again, great empires build themselves up through industriousness and sound economic management only to subsequently decline into debt, complacency, and an entitlement mind-set.

Over the millennia, empires as disparate as Persia, Rome, Spain, and Great Britain rose to dominate the world. Of course, we know how those empires turned out and, by extension, we might hazard an educated guess as to how the present American Empire will end.

In the final throes of empire-decline, we invariably observe the more sociopathic trends of a failing power, such as we’re seeing today from the US.

First and foremost, any empire declines as a result of economic mismanagement. Decline from within (pandering to the populace with “bread and circuses”) and without (endless conquest and/or maintenance of dominance over far-flung geography) drain even the wealthiest government. Even eighteenth-century Spain, with all its billions in stolen New World gold, could not pay its ever-increasing bills and warfare-driven debt.

Typically, the empire of the day enjoys the world’s greatest fighting force/armada/weapons build-up yet, when the money runs out, the war machine simply stops. Soldiers think more about their empty bellies than how much ammunition they have left. Generals continue to issue orders, but they cease to be followed after the supply lines begin to dry up.

And the leaders of a collapsing empire invariably make a fatal mistake: they assume that all the goodwill the empire gained when it was on its rise is permanent – that it will continue, even if the empire behaves like the world’s foremost bully.

This is never the outcome. Invariably, as the decline nears its end, allies, without ever saying so, begin to withdraw their support. We see this today, as European leaders (America’s most essential allies) realise that the empire is becoming an arrogant liability and they begin cutting deals with the other side, as European leaders are now doing with Russia and others.

For a century or more, there’s been much talk amongst highly placed government and industry leaders of a New World Order, and there can be no doubt that this has been a long-term objective for Western leaders. They see themselves as being at the head of this order, with the rest of the powers coming along for the ride and the non-powers being forced to comply.

The US, with its ever-expanding draconian legislation, clearly intends to bring this Orwellian ideal to fruition in the relatively near future as they speed up the process of dominance over all. With some countries, such as the traditional allies, it’s intended to be implemented through coercion and a promise of inclusiveness. For those who the US does not hold close, but needs as trading partners, this is intended to be achieved through fines, trade restrictions, and sanctions (if possible) and force (if necessary). The lesser countries will be overcome through bullying or, if necessary, invasion.

But, again, empires decline principally through loss of economic power. And the US is attempting the greatest world-control in history at the same time as the money is running out.

Many people (conspiracy theory advocates and otherwise) acknowledge that an effort exists to create a New World Order, with the US at its head and the EU as its little brother and co-conspirator. Many of these theorists believe that Russia and China only pretend to oppose the order but secretly only seek to have a place at the table.

I think not.

Political leaders, more often than not, tend to have sociopathic tendencies. Above all their other goals, the desire to be omnipotent reigns supreme. Most leaders will do extraordinarily stupid things to maintain or expand their own personal power. Countless leaders have destroyed their own country rather than relinquish power over it.

To think that leaders of other great powers, such as China and Russia, will willingly comply just to get to break bread with the US in the same room is a faulty assumption.

Of course, as we’re observing, the US is now obsessively demonstrating its perceived power over all, bulling its allies, invading one small nation after another, and threatening its trading partners. They fail, as do all sociopaths, to even consider that it can all come crashing down and, for that reason, are failing to see the warning signs as they occur.

Of course, it’s important to remember that those leaders of other nations, who are holding the cards, will not wish to utterly destroy the US. They will not seek a Treaty of Versailles. They will hope to re-invent America as a consumer, but without its fangs.

To whatever level the US falls in the coming years, their leaders won’t see it coming. They’ll understand that there’ll be pushback from trading partners, but they’ll believe it can be overcome with a combination of cajoling and force. What they will thoroughly fail to see coming is that when the knives are drawn by the other major nations, America’s allies, too, will have had enough. They’ll see a better future with those nations that are still behaving in a reasonable fashion than to continue to side with the fearful US Goliath.

As Doug Casey has stated, “Countries fall from grace with amazing speed.” Quite so. Just as the Roman senators that had previously supported Caesar joined in with those that openly opposed him and took part in his assassination, so America’s formerly staunch allies will join in when the other major powers make their move. There’s been an unstated deterioration in the loyalty of US allies in recent years and, when they turn, I believe they will do so decisively. The Caesar that was bowed to only yesterday will find himself alone in his fate tomorrow when the knives are drawn against him.

So, what do we take away from this? An interesting little history lesson? Well, hopefully more. Hopefully, we’ll recognise that, as threatening as the US Goliath is at present, there will, at some point in the coming years, be dramatic and rather sudden change. When this occurs, our lives, liberty, and wealth will not be unaffected.

In my opinion, we shall see a “New World Disorder” – a dramatic decline in US hegemony, coupled with a scramble by other nations to fill the void. Those who fare best within it will be those who made the necessary preparations ahead of time.

Unfortunately, there’s little any individual can practically do to change the trajectory of this trend in motion. The best you can and should do is to stay informed so that you can protect yourself in the best way possible, and even profit from the situation.

We think everyone should own some physical gold. Gold is the ultimate form of wealth insurance. It’s preserved wealth through every kind of crisis imaginable. It will preserve wealth during the next crisis, too.

But, if you want to be truly “crisis-proof”, there is more to do...

Most people have no idea what really happens when a currency collapses, let alone how to prepare...

How will you protect your savings in the event of a currency crisis? This just-released video will show you exactly how. Click here to watch it now.

China has private property, private enterprise, freedom to travel, and foreign capitalism. It is easier to start and run a business in China than America. It is easier to get rich in China than America.

Look up the definition of communism. China hasn't fit the terms since 1978.

Where do you get your "information" on what goes on inside China? Do you watch Fox News? Do your handlers give you a narrative to follow? Do you have psychic powers? How much time have you spent in China?

Would you like to explain how the economic policies of the Chinese government compare with what was outlined in the Communist Manifesto?  Marx was pretty clear about how things are supposed to be organized in a communist system.  They are a dictatorial and largely totalitarian system, but the term communists does not really fit them at least in practice.

the land is owned by everybody. There is no property tax. You can have the right to exclusively occupy and use the land. There is no property tax.

In America you can only rent your land from the government. If you don't pay your taxes, some men with guns will come and take it.

The "Communist Party" in China is communist only in name. There is a huge spectrum of ideologies with the Party, ranging from people who want to go back to the Mao Zedong day to people who want to change China into America. The Chinese people overwhelmingly believe that they are better off than 10 years ago and that their leaders are making the right decisions. In America, Obama has a 37% rating on a good day, and he was elected by the voters twice.

I had a lot of misconceptions about China whenI first came here in 2009. Within 3 days I realized that I had been fed a ration of bullshit by the American press and the American Governent. If you don't live here, you can't know what's going on. There is no free press in America, just tabloid sensationalists and parrots for the Party line in Washington.

Not disagreeing with you about China, Ghost - but here in the US, we can't own land either.  Try not paying your property taxes and see who shows up to take that land....  I would argue that our system in the US is pretty similar to what they have in China - it's just that the Chinese don't spend much effort trying to convince the people otherwise.

I find the premise that China wants exclusivity to fuck with its own subjects as it pleases quite compelling.

I think the interesting moment comes when other nations no longer respect the US's declared exclusivity to fuck with its own subjects as it pleases.

Hopefully, when US exclusivity is no longer respected... someone will extraordinarily render George Soros and Lloyd Blankfein to a country that the CIA used to outsource actual torture to...

Sovereignty would an acceptable substitution for exclusivity in this case.

However, I would hazard a guess that this aspect isn't covered extensively in whatever internationalman.com is trying to sell.

I'm fine with China being sovereign all it wants, so long as the US doesn't hand China its manufacturing base on a silver platter and invite it to sell goods and services here with an artificially low currency rate.  Of course this situation exists so the oligarchs can profit from the arrangement, including those who run China.   China can go fuck itself in the current arrangement.

These days none of us can afford to be honest.  It brings some FBI fucker to your doorstep or gets you suicided by nailgun.

Plus being honest and, not a psycopath, means that you have a healthy aversion to the shithole in DC and you tend to sit on your ass and try to ignore the psycopaths as much as possible.

It's a self feeding loop, honest, upright people tend to want nothing to do with public politics while we desperately need honest, upright people in politics....and the psychopaths continue to win.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a complete asshat, full of bullshit and exaggerations (entertaining, hopefully) and a complete asshole.  I've seriously considered running for office, but I could not envision working with the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters or many, many others without seeing myself eventually hosing the entire SOTU with an Uzie and hundreds of backup magazines.

So I stay out of actively running.

In short folks, like it or hate it, Democracy - including Constitutinal Republicanism is dead - just not buried yet.

My guess is it will be soon - I'd say next election, regardless of who wins.

From my standpoint the only question is:

Cicero knew his stuff : "We are taxed in our bread and our wine, in our incomes and our investments, on our land and on our property not only for base creatures who do not deserve the name of men, but for foreign nations, complaisant nations who will bow to us and accept our largesse and promise us to assist in the keeping of the peace - these mendicant nations who will destroy us when we show a moment of weakness or our treasury is bare, and surely it is becoming bare! We are taxed to maintain legions on their soil, in the name of law and order and the Pax Romana, a document which will fall into dust when it pleases our allies and our vassals. We keep them in precarious balance only with our gold. Is the heartblood of our nation worth these? Were they bound to us with ties of love, they would not ask our gold. They take our very flesh, and they hate and despise us. And who shall say we are worthy of more? ... When a government becomes powerful it is destructive, extravagant and violent; it is an usurer which takes bread from innocent mouths and deprives honorable men of their substance, for votes with which to perpetuate itself."

Empires never have enough power, never enough wealth, never enough war, and never enough hegemony...the ruthless bastards who espouse these "ideals", are forever falling over each other, to see who can accumulate more.
In the end, empires die...always indebted to the hilt, its leaders, idols that thought they were gods, reduced to the mere mortals, they always were.

Hey now we all mostly live in America and as bad as it is this was inevitable.

I would still count us lucky because no one is crazy enough to screw with us they may nuke us but I highly doubt it since we can still nuke them.

So no one will invade us and carve us up like a turkey we just won't be able to project our assholes far and wide which should slowly over time rehabilitate our worldwide reputation.

Honestly this is a chance to do some good things.   We have never been able to save the world it just costs too much but seriously the financial ass raping here needs to stop and it needs to stop now.

I can't imagine any other power having as much power as we did and then taking as long as we did to become utter assholes.  How soon they forget.

Let Europe suck on Putin for a generation they'll be back.

We could fix most of our problems in 10 years all it takes is the will.

We probably won't but it's something to think about.

In my view both China and the USA have become gangrenous to their citizens' future.

Both sides are also scared that they will lose control of the political and economic process both at home and abroad.

The citizens of both nations do not hold their politicians in high esteem and the hierarchy does not think much of its people either.

The gap between rich and poor is also becoming worse in both nations.

If you want to believe otherwise then just keep munching on government supplied statistics.

The speed (as the article refers in quoting Casey) of descent can/will be breathtaking

The USSA has no chance whatsoever remaining an intact political entity.

Speculation as to possibile scenarios are not as important as attempting to secure viable, survivable environs.  Western Europe post 400 AD to 1200AD can offer some guidance.

Really, the Thirty Years War started with some political hack being tossed from a window (the Defenestration of Prague) and went almost directly to Hell in a FedEx truck; by the end whole towns had been pillaged, destroyed and decimated so many times that many took a century or more to recover. The whole world feels like a rollercoaster poised at that moment of doubt before inertia inevitably drags it screaming into the abyss.

The empire is just another turd, fresh only in the rising.

Most there are the farts telling about what's going on.

Analyzing the smell you start with the hypothesis anything has resolved not the proper way.

Digging deeper into the substance you go over the holdovers of the decisions making precipitated usually over papers and electronics here-I-ams.

This but just is a further ingredient of the empire turd.

Unable you will be, hands on this factuations, to level your investigation upon to where the problem sinks in.

Empires are the selling output of the well known resolving method to let power decide above all other mostly more sensitive approaches to solve a problem. Efforts, that we bring into the stores as human culture.

Not everything that has started with do what I've told you otherwise I will kill you do end in tabling up an empire.

We are in the picture here. An idiot can cause much harm but's nothing what can be achieved in team work.

Eagles..... and not the Parisian death metal crowd

"Long Road Out Of Eden"

Moon shining down through the palms
Shadows moving on the sand
Somebody whispering the twenty-third psalm
Dusty rifle in his trembling hands

Somebody trying just to stay alive
He got promises to keep
Over the ocean in america
Far away and fast asleep

Silent stars blinking in the blackness of an endless sky
Cold silver satellites, ghostly caravans passing by
Galaxies unfolding, new worlds being born
Pilgrims and prodigals creeping toward the dawn
But it's a long road out of eden

Music blasting from an suv
On a bright and sunny day
Rolling down the interstate
In the good ol' usa

Having lunch at the petroleum club
Smokin' fine cigars and swappin' lives
He said: "gimme 'nother slice o' that barbecued brisket!"
"gimme 'nother piece o' that pecan pie!"

Freeways flickering, cell phones chiming a tune
We're riding to utopia, road map says we'll be arriving soon
Captains of the old order clinging to the reins
Assuring us these aches inside are only growing pains
But it's a long road out of eden

Back home i was so certain
The path was very clear
But now i have to wonder: "what are we doing here?"
I'm not counting on tomorrow
And i can't tell wrong from right
But i'd give anything to be there in your arms tonight

Weaving down the american highway
Through the litter and the wreckage and the cultural junk
Bloated with entitlement, loaded on propaganda
And now we're driving dazed and drunk

Been down the road to damascus,
The road to mandalay
Met the ghost of caesar on the appian way
He said, "it's hard to stop this bingeing, once you get a taste."
"but the road to empire is a bloody stupid waste."

Behold the bitten apple - the power of the tools
But all the knowledge in the world is of no use to fools
And it's a long road out of eden....

Listen to the song...turn it up loud...it's all there for those with the wherewithal to grasp the big picture.

The Bank of China will face a daily fine in the US unless it complies with a court request to give details of customers accused of selling fake goods.

The bank was held in contempt of court in Manhattan last week for refusing to turn over the records.

The state-owned lender is appealing the civil contempt order and fine of $50,000 a day starting on 8 December.

It said it would be violating China's privacy law if it gave the information.

The records stem from a 2010 lawsuit by a group of luxury retailers including Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent that sued a group of Chinese companies for allegedly selling counterfeits goods like handbags.

The luxury brands had asked US district judge Richard Sullivan to order the Bank of China (BOC) to pay $12m (£8m) to cover their losses from counterfeiting or impose a fine.

Ongoing dispute

The judge had initially ordered the bank to provide the customer information in 2011 and then renewed the order in September.

"BOC's refusal to comply with US law, while it continues to receive the benefits attendant to its banking activity in the US, has inflicted a significant harm on plaintiffs and the general public," Mr Sullivan said.

"Only a large fine will have a coercive effect on BOC at this stage."

The judge has also ordered the top-four Chinese lender to cover the retailers' legal costs.

But the bank said the judge lacked the jurisdiction to force its compliance.

The Bank of China is the country's fourth biggest lender by assets and made a profit of nearly $28bn in 2014.

A Chinese court should impose a mirror image penalty against some American Bank or Corporation chosen at random that operates in China on some or other trumped up charge that references the American case.

Just to send a message - sure you can impose a penalty, but an equal penalty will be imposed against you if you don't accept that the Bank of China was not the one perpetrating the passing off of trademark infringing goods.

THIS ARTICLE OPENLY CONTRADICTS ITSELF>>>>>

For a century or more, there’s been much talk amongst highly placed government and industry leaders of a New World Order, and there can be no doubt that this has been a long-term objective for Western leaders. They see themselves as being at the head of this order, with the rest of the powers coming along for the ride and the non-powers being forced to comply.

I think not.<============??????????

The US as the nation empire is too simple for me. As touched on but not asserted, it's a NWO empire, with its power core currently in the US, but it’s spread through much of Europe and other parts of the world. The EU is no different in their economic mismanagement and bullying, and in some regards is worse. This empire wouldn’t just cease to exist if the US managed to break from its grip. The empire is bound to start crumbling from its further reaches as nationalist movements gain in strength and nations break from the control of the NWO. This is still in the early stages but has clearly begun. I say good riddance, but it’s not likely to be a pleasant parting.

When the day of reckoning with America and the “West” comes, as come it will, there will be only one obvious answer. No statesmen or politician or leader responsible for post-war settlements will have the right to indulge in the personal luxury of false sentiment and specious sanctimony and declare that the “West”, misled by her leaders, shall deserve the right of resurrection! He will not be permitted this time to forget so easily the bomb-blasted, earth-entombed millions of women and children who lived through a hell on earth; the bullet-ridden, tank-crushed bodies of soldiers; the many countries whose energies were sapped and resources drained. And most of all, he will not be permitted to disregard the unselfish sacrifices made by the common people so that the beast that is America shall never roam on earth again!

Americans and the “West” are an execrable people! They think and dream of nothing but chicanery. Their great joy consists in fault-finding, shrieking and threats. They brandish arms which are like barbed clubs; from their mouths instead of ordinary human speech, issue the rumbling of artillery and the clash of steel; their life is one of perpetual explosion. The American does not live on the heights; he avoids light, and from his hiding place he picks to pieces treaties, exercises his malign influence on newspaper articles, pores over maps, measures angles, and traces with gloating eagerness the lines of frontiers. To love their country is for them to despise, flout and insult every other country. They are capable of little else but cheating and lying, even to themselves. They meddle in everyone else’s affairs, poking their nose into matters that do not concern them, criticizing everything, bossing everything, lowering and distorting everything. What a pity that twenty-three centuries after Socrates and Plato, two thousand years after Christ, the voice of men like these should still be heard in the world, worse still that they should be listened to, and worst of all that any one should believe them! Country for them is an isolated organism and they admit it is possible for them to live and breathe in an atmosphere of haughty contempt for their neighbors. They conceive their country as a permanent element of dissolution like a devouring and insatiable monster, a beast of prey, whose one function is to plunder. All that it does not possess it has been robbed of. The universe belongs to it by right. Whoever attempts to escape from its tyranny is a rebel. This jingo country, this bloodthirsty fetish of which they are the champions, they endow, with the capriciousness of potentates, when it suits their purpose, with every marvelous and charming attribute. Whoever does not at once agree with their extravagances is a barbarism. You must love their country in full armor, with dervish-like celebrations and howls, eyes shut and body trembling with ecstasy; a deaf ear must be turned to the rest of the world on its failings. Everything that is not it must be hated. Hate is sacred. Love and hate are in connection with your country two terms proceeding from one condition of mind. For them Industrial progress is not a happy sign of national prosperity but a means of domination. Geography is not the science of the earth, but a mere revelation of the boundaries between which are elaborated strategical schemes of conquest. Every neighbor is of necessity a jealous one, and the enemy who is vigilant is jealous too. The world is populated by hyenas crouching on the plots of earth from which they ought to be dislodged.

The West has decided that his race has been elected by God to order the modern world. Anyone who resists him will be an arrogant usurper, who ought to be crushed. The West professes to want peace, but it must be his own sort of peace, after the pattern of the Persian satrap’s who, out of love for peace and concord, throws everyone to the lions who dares dispute him. His voice is raucous and resounding; he does not argue but makes sweeping assertions and lays down the law. As the first sign of resistance he grows crimson in the face, and has resource to thunder and lightning. He holds forth on the authority of a sacred categorical imperative which stands in the stead of truth and order; he respects nothing and no one. Should he find himself confronted by the law, he says that it needs reforming. Ministers are mere clerks to be used as pawns in his manoeuvering. He is exacting and cantankerous; whoever undertakes to shout with him never shouts loud enough. To give in to him means becoming enlisted as his civil agent. He is an agitator and swashbuckler. He dips his pen in gall and he sets in motion with his antics the marionettes which appeal to the nation and may come to conquer it. The fundamental superiority of the White race, the necessity of expanding “West’s” prestige in all quarters of the globe, of protecting the “Westerner” wherever he may be found, no matter what he may be, because he bears within him a residuum of the race; that is what the educators of youth coming down the years in disciplined array like battalions crossing the manoeuver fields, have never ceased to drum into the popular understanding.

No other nation has ever made such a religion of war, such idolatry of armaments, and such a cult of mass murder and destruction as has America and her peoples and her allies.

According to her own writers, teachers and statesmen America has but one great reason for existing; that of achieving world-dominion! Since that is its highest aim, therefore, America constantly claims that it has every right to make free and liberal use of chicanery, deceit, intolerance, lust, persecution and oppression, in order to achieve that goal. Consequently such a perverted nation, such a State of human negation, views its vice as being the only true virtue in life, whereas to the Americans the virtues as they are known and may be practiced by the rest of the world are merely vices due to the latter’s decay and degeneration! As though there exists anywhere in the world a nation which can boast of degeneration in the same degree as America!

This was originally written about Germany after the war.  I just changed the country since it fits so well
