Presenting The Stunning Difference In How Blacks And Whites Are Killed By Guns
If one were asked to name the top five issues on America’s collective mind as we head into 2016, gun violence would almost certainly make the list.
A string of incidents that culminated in the massacre in San Bernardino earlier this month has put gun control back in the limelight as the nation debates the best way to prevent mass shootings.
Some suggest gun violence should be a designated as a public health issue. “Supporters, including doctors and medical associations, say that designating gun violence – which they define to include homicides, suicides and injuries – as a public health issue will save lives,” US News & World Report wrote over the summer. “Doctors already counsel patients about a range of safety issues, including avoiding lead paint, wearing seatbelts, getting vaccinated and dealing with the dangers of backyard pools. If the designation were to change, they could more often ask patients about whether they keep a gun in the home and, if so, how it is secured.”
That rather surreal sounding idea is in many ways reflective of how frustrated America has become with the issue. The right to keep and bear arms is not only enshrined in the Constitution, it’s also part of the country’s consciousness and identity - even most gun control advocates would likely be loath to see citizens’ gun rights curtailed wholesale. Even so, the perception that gun violence is on the rise and the nation is powerless to stop it has led some to question whether it may be time to consider taking a more drastic approach when it comes to limiting access to firearms.
What gets lost in the debate is the fact that when it comes to gun violence, mass shootings really aren’t the problem. That is, as horrific as they are and as often as they seem to be occurring, “less than 2 percent of more than 33,000 gun deaths in [America] are due to mass shootings,” Trace wrote, earlier this month.
"The gun control debate often plays out in monolithic fashion in this country," WaPo writes, adding that "the traditional understanding is that there's one overarching problem — gun violence — that can be addressed by a more or less uniform set of solutions: better background checks, improved technology, etc."
However, "one shortcoming of this approach is that it elides over the sometimes drastic differences in how different populations experience gun violence and gun ownership in their lives." WaPo goes on to present the following rather stunning chart from The Brookings Institute. As you can see, there's a marked difference between how African Americans and whites are killed by firearms. More specifically, "among whites, 77 percent of gun deaths are suicides. But among black Americans, 82 percent of gun deaths are homicides."
Consider that, then consider the following chart which depicts parents' perceptions of the risks their children face. We present it below and leave the issue for readers to discuss:

The article does not mention that the total number of black deaths by firearms is far greater than the total number of white deaths by firearms.

Forgive me if I'm right but:
most blacks, the vast majority, killed by gunfire are murdered by other blacks. I don't know if more whites kill whites or if, indeed, more blacks murder whites - my guess is due to sheer numbers whites are more often murdered by whites but blacks kill far more than the 10% or so that their population would suggest.

Blacks are more violent, they commit a disproportionate amount of crime. Now you may supply any socio-economic or socio-anthropological apoloegetics you might like to that, I am not arguing that it is or that it is not a permanent feature of the people or the culture - only that it is a fact, but yet another fact we are not supposed to discuss when discussing the problem and history of violence.
Just as we are supposed to worry about "diversity" but not apply it to the one group that is the most wildly over-represented at all and which has used said diversity programs, in fact, to box out equally or better qualified non-Juice whites and asians, lowring standards to allow in unqualified blacks and latinos, all while being over-represented themselves at a rate of 8-10 times in many top schools [not all] and news stations and in hollywood.

Basically, ALL MURDER rates have been falling since 1994. Black homicide peaked at about 65 people/100,000, or .065%, and has since fallen to around 30 per 100k.
White homicides have been very steady at 3-5 per 100k, but there is a long and slight downward trend; regardless, it's about 1/10th of black homicides.
Hispanics and other (non-whites) fall in between. Hispanics are slightly higher than the US average, other non-whites slightly below.
Overall, the US rate has fallen from around 15 per 100k to about 9 per 100k over the last 20 years.
(caveats: data source wasn't given, stats only to 2010).
I should note many demographers put this down to the general aging of the population. Even gangbangers get old, and life suddenly becomes precious.

I'd guess that a HUGE percentage of the Black homicides are in the Democrat's Dependency Zones in the inner cities that they targeted since the early 60's. These are the areas that the left targeted for votes and power, but they decimated the social fabric - hence the massive violence. While the left says they care about Blacks, the reality is they only care about the votes.
It's not just a huge percentage - it's almost all of them.

You don't need automatic military weapons for self defense in the US, learn to shoot properly.
People with mental health issues should be restricted, same applies to any criminal conviction that has resulted in jail time.
All firearms owners should be licensed, and should be required to have an approved gun safe as a condition of license.
In other words you can have your firearms but selling your military automatic weapons to your uncles first cousin who has just got out of prison, is on heavy psychotropic drugs, rants about killing his ex continually is considered to be a bad idea, in these cases common sense laws should prevent this.
Probably an unpopular view on this site, but this works in many countries worldwide.

It's interesting what can and cannot be discussed in America. Every topic has to devolve to some binary, black/white, on/off standoff where there are only two sides, and each side has equal merit. It's the ultimate consumer capitalist setup, as the news media corporations demand. Chocolate or Vanilla? They're both good in their own way.
The trouble is, in the real world there is such a thing as right and wrong. Hitler and Pol Pot thought they were right. Every argument is not equal to every other argument. Some arguments are flat-out wrong. But that would alienate certain targeted consumers, and might hurt ad revenues, so we mustn't allow any meaningful analysis, just commentary that further equivocates all topics.
These gun death statistics are presented to make a certain point. I bet they correlate more closely to poverty than to race. I live in what has been historically the black middle-class neighborhood of my city. There aren't any killings here, by gun or any other means. A dozen blocks away there are. But the neighbor guy across the alley did commit suicide a couple years ago. I think he did that by car exhaust in his garage, but I'm not sure.
Upper and middle-class blacks aren't shooting each other. Lower-class blacks are. Lower-class whites shoot each other a lot more than middle-class whites do. Once you reach solid middle-class life, you're extremely unlikely to be shot at all, by anyone, except perhaps a domestic abuser who probably also has chemical addictions of one kind or another.
We're allowed to talk race in America as long as it can only result in name-calling and racism. We're allowed to discuss gender and sexuality as long as it only results in more demographics to sell to. We can discuss religion only so far as it divides us and points up the miniscule differences rather than the overwhelming similarities between monotheisms. We can talk politics, but only within the meaningless confines of Republican/Democrat, and as soon as it becomes too obvious that the parties are extensions of the same identical Elites, the conversation is shut down.
And we're never allowed to discuss social and economic class, unless it's used to justify something the Elites want. So we get meaningless statistics about Black people and guns, which would tell us something completely different if applied by socio-economic class, which is very meaningful in America, instead of by skin color, which is in itself meaningless in every way but is a very potent propaganda element in America as America has never addressed the legacy of legal human slavery in any honest way.
Easy answer to the problem: Quit selling guns to blacks.
But what these sort of reports never, EVER, seem to point out is that the vast majority of those minority gun homocides are due to minority on minority violence due to poverty and the totally counterproductive war on drugs.
I read a recent column whining about "the cause" of the large amount of gun violence in Chicago with it's strong local gun laws in a state with strong gun laws- supposedly the more easy availability of guns in surrounding states. It only took ONE commenter to totally destroy that stupid excuse - the areas with easier access to guns DO NOT have Chicago's problem meaning that the problem is IN CHICAGO and is not due to the easier availability of guns OUTSIDE of Chicago.
