Traders Panic-Buy Stocks Into The Close Despite Crude And Credit Crumble

Tyler Durden's picture

Artist's impression of Fed credibility...

Since The Fed unleashed its rate-hike, things for the confidence-inspiring awesomeness have not gone well...

Trannies were worst post-Fed, Small Caps best but they are all red...

Stocks and bonds decoupled early in the overnight European session, then recoupled when Europe closed then stocks just went full retard into the close...

Here's your day summarized... come on!!!

As the machines lifted stocks to the opening ramp highs...

But credit just laughed...

As the algos ran the stops to the pre-opex dump... (that was a 140 point rip in The Dow in the last 30 minutes... on absolutely no news whatsoever)

FANGs were dumped and then pumped into the close but remain red post-Fed...

Stocks continue to leak lower towards credit's inevitable endgame...

Meanwhile Waddell & Reed's canary in the coalmine is flashing red... Is WDR the marginal liquidator-at-any-price?

h/t@BeardedMiguel

And The TED Spread is soaring...

The USDollar was sold from early in the US session to the end of the EU session, then flatlined...

Treasury bonds were well bid in the early session (notably 5Y, 7Y, and 10Y bonds are unchanged on the year now in yield terms)

The weaker dollar broadly speaking helped commodities with silver and gold doing well..

But crude's January contract expiration seemed to keep volatility under control (despite the surge into NYMEX close across the complex)

That illustration above is not accurate.  Once you realize that the FED is an independent entity who answers to shareholders (big banks), then it becomes clear that the big banks have a complete stranglehold on our financial system.

For more information, I recommend "America - Freedom to Fascism" available on Youtube.

Tyranny is tenacious and patient.  It can manifest itself over generations.  The FEDERAL RESERVE and INCOME TAX are a perfect examples of this.  But as long as you slowly turn up the heat, the frog doesn't notice.

History is destined to repeat itself because we FORGET the lessons of the past.

You mean like the existence of the fed itself, and the creation of "terrorist" so the MIC can justify its existence and keep stealing money, and cult-like dykes demanding an end to white supremacy, and the Supreme Court ruling that money is free speech, and that the president of the United States finds time to appear on Bear Gryllis's reality show in Alaska, and (it's your turn...)

Seems experienced traders’ perspectives are now more infrequently represented here, so, for what it’s worth:  the final ramp was actually suggested very early by the buying action near the European close, supported by short-term technicals, so the fact that the final levels (COMP ping-pong between the 100/200 DMAs, tentative SPY move off the Daily Keltner limit, pathetic Russell doji, ALL with lower Stochastic levels than the prior day) took all day plus low-liquidity after-hours backdrop to achieve, levels easily attained by 1:45 in the past, is actually more constructive for longer term bears than the CNBC headlines would have you believe (shocking!).

Doesn’t mean they can’t easily continue to ramp on holiday volume, but it’s clear today was hard, forcing an even more cowardly-than-normal approach by machines.  Some Santa-ramp bastards may actually be worried … this is actually progress, believe it or not …,

Near term keys will be:  what do SPY and COMP do at the 20DMA, and will the Russell, during a day session,  hit its 20MA or the mid-Dec lows first?

Your analysis started with,

"the final ramp was actually suggested very early by the buying action near the European close, supported by short-term technicals"

That's the point, earlier buying action in Europe is fake, and it's based on Asian trading which is based on US markets trading (minus big news). It's a big circle jerk of manipulation. Short term technicals are a joke, based on debt that is destructive at this point.

One thing I did take from your post is that the downward pressure is much closer to uncontrollable than I thought. Ty.

There's always money in the organ trafficking-stand.

Selling desperate Syrian refugees’ body parts for profit: Israeli man arrested in Turkey for organ trafficking

The situation in Syria today is nothing short of catastrophic. More than half of the entire population has been displaced in a civil war now approaching its fifth year, and almost 4.3 million Syrian refugees are registered with the U.N. Millions are crowded into densely population refugee camps in neighboring Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon. Many live on the street, and few have access to basic resources or job prospects. Traffickers have taken advantage of Syrian refugees’ desperation, in hopes of making money. An Israeli man was arrested in Turkey today for organ trafficking. He came to Istanbul to try to convince impoverished Syrian refugees to sell their organs, in a story first reported by Turkey’s Doan News Agency, and later by Israel’s YNet and Germany’s Deutsche Welle.

Nah, Fed compensates them for any losses and then some with printed money giveaway arrangements like IOER payments.  We are footing the bill for this right now via inflation.

We are only footing the bill if you mean via inflation. You know, the same inflation that's subdued and doesn't exist.

All this crap is being held up through stealth QE, that's why inflation related to all things we need for our basic sustenance is through the roof. Have you tried buying a nice cut of aged beef tenderloin lately? Of course you can always replace with hamburger, so what's the problem?

They know there will never be an audit, so there is no fear of legal prosecution. They own the fucking place.

In regards of a car ban, it may be slightly more insideous, in such that in the near future, all vehicles would be "smart cars" for one's safety, to avoid accidents, road rage, and such events as this; and most importantly, for the childrens.

Also, big sister, big brother, and the all seeing eye, will know absolutely every stop one makes, how long, and one's routine.

And, if one is naughty, the smart car can lock the doors, maybe cinch the safety belts a bit too tight, maybe turn the climate control a bit to hot or too cold, and no worries about dissention from the offender.

Or, simply turn off and wait for the proper authorities to handle the problem unit.

We all need unity, and conformity, right?

While I am being sarcastic, one can see where all this could unfortunately head.

Noticed quite a few days, using the Fraud Indicator (The DOW), the price varies wildly during the day but always ends near where it started from.

So....

How do all these "traders" know exactly how much to buy to put it within earshot of the opening bell without any sort of chicanery. I'm Ok , if it happens once or twice, but when it happens daily, and when it's an aggregate of 30 stocks, it just doesn't seem plausible.

It really does look like, here's the value we want to get to, now make the trades to get to that price.
