Statement by the President on Persecuted Christians at Christmas
During this season of Advent, Christians in the United States and around the world are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. At this time, those of us fortunate enough to live in countries that honor the birthright of all people to practice their faith freely give thanks for that blessing. Michelle and I are also ever-mindful that many of our fellow Christians do not enjoy that right, and hold especially close to our hearts and minds those who have been driven from their ancient homelands by unspeakable violence and persecution.
In some areas of the Middle East where church bells have rung for centuries on Christmas Day, this year they will be silent; this silence bears tragic witness to the brutal atrocities committed against these communities by ISIL.
We join with people around the world in praying for God’s protection for persecuted Christians and those of other faiths, as well as for those brave men and women engaged in our military, diplomatic, and humanitarian efforts to alleviate their suffering and restore stability, security, and hope to their nations. As the old Christmas carol reminds us:
The Wrong shall fail,
The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men.

So, to translate a little... America (The Right), will prevail over The Wrong (terrorists who shall not be named as Muslims but are anti-christian)... thanks to peace on earth (and airstrikes and boots on the ground) and good-will to men (and women, as long as they are not radicalized).

good point. 'christian' or better 'jesusian' or maybe 'yeshuaian' is really about personal character. Jesus did not promote material earthly things, race, religion, government policy, economics and so on. His focus was on the inner game in re the sheep, and for the evil scum in power, it was to call them out and repudiate their diabolical bad faith religious system that was the central core of oppression, and a gross bad faith representation of 'God' - as Jesus saw it (he wasn't an 'atheist' apparently) ... Jesus referred to God as his 'Father', which, by the way, is a very personal reference.
The way I see things is pretty much all of us can't seem to get that character thing down, and it goes from bad to apocalyptically terrible as we ascend the pyramid of power. Jesus had it right. If we all attended to our character the way he taught us, everybody, meticulously attending to every detail, imagine what the world would be like then.
Jesus held up the mirror and we didn't like what we saw/see. So we all fly off into the darkness because we are more comfortable with that. Some not so much (thankfully), a lot of others pretty much, and those at the top completely committed to the dark arts (which is how they get into power).
Thus, if we want to make a better go of it on planet earth, it start with "the man in the mirror" - to quote Michale Jackson, albeit slightly out of context. :) if the mass of the body politic was so committed to pursuing the highest and best, good character, to the best of their ability and in the utmost good faith, we would have an easier time controlling and mitigating the inevitable sociopaths that rise to power. But if we fail to do so, we are screwed, basically. This means, perhaps, a good place to channel our productive energy is to encourage all around us to pursue the high road, and develop good character, and be supportive of it in any way we can. While we may have little effect on the big dirt bags in the corridors of power, surely we can have a positive impact on our neighbor.

We own some of the blame for not getting out in the streets and overwhelming the halls of Congress and dogging every single elected official and staffer in Washington DC until passing articles of impeachment as should have happened about six months after Obama took office. In attempting to untangle your post, I refer the reader to a book by C.S. Lewis, entitled The Abolition of Man. In it he makes a convincing argument for absolutes, what is absolutely right and what is absolutely wrong. The issue is not so much that any one of us at any given time have the 'right' position or answer (although if by accident we stumble across the Absolute it is conceivably possible), it is that we understand that there *is* a right. Although what that is may be hard to figure out, for some things it is pretty easy - do not lie, steal, cheat, murder, etc.
Thus, if one is consistently moving in the direction of what is absolutely right, their path will not suddenly lead them to what is wrong. To link to your argument, it is not only possible, but I would say common for someone who is beholden of a definition of what is right, what they believe is the right, in pursuit of desperately trying to establish their position as the right one, only to end up on the wrong track, because their definition was wrong. But ending up in the Absolute Wrong is only a testament the person was all along on the path of the Absolute Wrong and they simply were not aware of it, or they were, but did into want to admit it when at some point in their journey they passed a very conspicuous sign that said "WRONG WAY - DEAD END AHEAD".
The good news is, to walk on the path of Absolute Right isn't so 'mysterious'. If we in good faith strive to pursue the basics and maintain the most reduced and simplified definitions (e.g. do not lie, steal, cheat, murder), we will likely find ourselves on the right side of things more often than not.
The trouble is we love to justify what we are doing to force what is wrong to be right, because we so desperately want our wrong business to be right. This leads to never ending contingency speak concerning what *is* a lie? What does it mean to steal? What is cheating? What is murder? Then we invent layers of rationales, justifications, and before you know it we walk off a cliff and wonder how did it happen.

Your statement is good, Im not sure if its exactly right, but certainly close. Weed without a doubt is good, Im not sure if its right for you, but its good for me. These politicians are constantly playing with words like they "know". Thats just it, we really dont know what the "right" direction is, nor will we ever? Exactly as you say "Right" is bias. Its kind of funny.. most of us tend to think they (the government) is wrong and they continue to insist they are right? Now insisting your right almost always means your wrong? Good is easier to understand and feel. Its not absolute? and we dont know anything. People always need to question what is right? Never accept what someone is telling you to be right? It never is. That is the point. No one can tell you absolutely what is right. ITs a form of control to insist or accept that someone is right without question. Being "right" means nothing. Being good means everything. Socrates says "I know that I know nothing" much more power and wisdom in that statement .vs I "know" Im "right", a more ignorant statement, that leaves one stuck and not able to move forward, because they are already RIGHT. We are never right and we are never done thinking.
Apathy toward human nature will be our end, especially if we start assuming without question we are all right or that we could always be right. The consolidation of power is extremely dangerous because of Human Nature and the Evil/Greed that exists in some. They are simply human and can't handle it. Politicians especially can never be right and always have ulterior motives, which makes it even less probable. Being able to admit your wrong is the key and very hard for humans to do which makes being right even harder. Especially in a system where everyone is a winner. Losing and being wrong are much more valuable experiences than ever thinking your right. Its extremely dangerous to assume we could ever be right. Be very wary of our government telling you they are "Right"
