Paul Craig Roberts 'Evaluates' Donald Trump

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by Paul Craig Roberts,

Donald Trump, judging by polls as of December 21, 2015, is the most likely candidate to be the next president of the US.

Trump is popular not so much for his stance on issues as for the fact that he is not another Washington politican, and he is respected for not backing down and apologizing when he makes strong statements for which he is criticized. What people see in Trump is strength and leadership. This is what is unusual about a political candidate, and it is this strength to which voters are responding.

The corrupt American political establishment has issued a “get Trump” command to its presstitute media. Media whore George Stephanopoulos, a loyal follower of orders, went after Trump on national television. But Trump made mincemeat of the whore.

Stephanopoulos tried to go after Trump because the world’s favorite leader, President Putin of Russia, said complimentary things about Trump, and Trump replied in kind.

According to Stephanopoulos, “Putin has murdered journalists,” and Trump should be ashamed of praising a murderer of journalists. Trump asked Stephanopoulos for evidence, and Stephanopoulos didn’t have any. In other words, Stephanopoulos confirmed Trump’s statement that American politicians just make things up and rely on the presstitutes to support invented “facts” as if they are true. Trump made reference to Washington’s many murders.

Stephanopoulos wanted to know what journalists Washington had murdered. Trump responded with Washington’s murders and dislocation of millions of peoples who are now overrunning Europe as refugees from Washington’s wars. But Trump's advisors were not sufficiently competent to have armed him with the story of Washington’s murder of Al Jazerra’s reporters.

Here is a report from Al Jazeera, a far more trustworthy news organization than the US print and TV media:

“On April 8, 2003, during the US-led invasion of Iraq, Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Ayoub was killed when a US warplane bombed Al Jazeera’s headquarters in Baghdad.

“The invasion and subsequent nine-year occupation of Iraq claimed the lives of a record number of journalists. It was undisputedly the deadliest war for journalists in recorded history.

“Disturbingly, more journalists were murdered in targeted killings in Iraq than died in combat-related circumstances, according to the group Committee to Protect Journalists.

“CPJ research shows that “at least 150 journalists and 54 media support workers were killed in Iraq from the US-led invasion in March 2003 to the declared end of the war in December 2011.”

“’The media were not welcome by the US military,’” Soazig Dollet, who runs the Middle East and North Africa desk of Reporters Without Borders told Al Jazeera. ‘That is really obvious.’”

A political candidate with a competent staff would have immediately fired back at Stephanopoulos with the facts of Washington’s murder of journalists and compared these facts with the purely propagandistic accusations against Putin which have no basis whatsoever in fact.

The problem with Trump is the issues on which the public is not carefully judging him. I don’t blame the public. It is refreshing to have a billionaire who can’t be bought expose the insubstantialality of all the Democratic and Repulican candidates for president. A collection of total zeros.

Unlike Washington, Putin supports the sovereignty of countries. He does not believe that the US or any country has the right to overthrow governments and install a puppet or vassal.

Recently Putin said: “I hope no person is insane enough on planet earth who would dare to use nuclear weapons.”

Unfortunately for Putin and for Trump, if news reports can be believed, Trump recently said that he would use nuclear weapons against ISIS. This is a disqualifying statement. There is no reason to need nukes to defeat a force as small as ISIS. More importantly, as the US is the only country to use nuclear weapons against the population of another country, for the US to do so again would confirm for the Russian and Chinese governments that the US government is insane, untrustworthy, and in need of extermination before Russia and China are attacked. You cannot use nuclear weapons without consequence.

As I have said in a number of interviews, Trump’s problem is that he has no movement behind him, no advisors that he can trust, and he does not understand the issues. Trump has learned that forceful statements are appreciated by voters. Therefore, he doesn’t differentiate intelligent forceful statements from insane statements. As long as his statements are forceful, Trump thinks that they work.

Recently I watched a video of a woman described as a “Trump advisor” who repeaded neocon nazi William Kristol’s statement: “What’s the use of nuclear weapons if you can’t use them?”

How did a William Kristol neocon nazi get on Trump’s staff? What more proof do we need that even if Trump is elected, the establishment will prevail despite Trump.

Trump cannot be a dissident politician without a dissident staff. He doesn’t know the people who would comprise a dissident staff. Trump knows how to make deals, and the Establishment will staff up a Trump presidency with deals. The minute Trump takes office, he would be already captured.

In France Marine Le Pen’s National Front Party could bring political change. In the UK Nigel Farage’s UK Independence Party or Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party could bring political change. But in the US there is no prospect of change from elections. Change can only come from collapse or from bloody revolution. The American Establishment will not accept change.

And most likely, the American Establishment would assassinate Le Pen and Farage and Corbyn before accepting change in France and the UK.

These are the facts on the ground. How Russia and China deal with them remains to be seen.

Corbyn said it was a shame they killed Bin Laden because they should have captured and tried him to get intelligence. The press reported it as Corbyn says it's a shame Bin Laden was killed. Same goes for statements from Farage and Le Pen. The press twist there words and thus the narrative so much.

So we'll elect him. Because he can fake it. Because he's a TV star.

He's a phenomenal shit-stirring gasbag. A yuuuuuge blowhard.

I think Trump is smarter than PCR is giving him credit for.  If Trump throws too much truth out at once, it will overwhelm the public.

Even with all of Trump's faults, name someone better who has a chance.  At least I don't think he'd be dumb enough to get into a shooting war with Russia, unlike most of the other GOP contenders  (haven't watched the Dem debates or other Dem statements, so can't comment on Hillary's position on Russia, but I doubt it's sensible).

We can hope so, but hopium has been a disappointment lately.  Hard to know whether to be more scared of Trump acting as he acts or Trump as just another in the line of Clinton-Shrub-Obama.

But Trump is in the Israeli-Neocon camp, however much the chattering elements of the Neocons diss him.  That is more likely PR.

Yes, that makes sense to me. Pretty softball of Stephanoplous, don't you think?  Has anyone tried to seriously interview the guy?

Trump is obviously a smart businessman and great negotiator. brilliant negotiators are what America does not have right now [among many other changes]. When your diplomats are smart, there is no war. Look at our State dept---Newland, Hillary, and on and on--zero ability to negotiate if not outright incompetence.

You likely are correct in saying Trump has to cool his jets. If he creates too much cog dissonance in the minds of the public it could backfire on him personally like it did on Assange and Snowden, however Trump's smarter than the average bear. He's the true Teflon Don.  He's used his circle of "friends" and the MSM to promote his brand and he can trade ad hominems with the best of them.

It's doubtful he knows much at all about foreign policy, but what he does know is people and how to bend them to his way of thinking. More importantly he has the social skills to suss out liars and charlatans and an element of ruthlessness that military-minded people admire. He's def no Jimmy Carter. We know what we'd get with Hillary. Trump's an enigma. I like the fact he has the media falling all over itself trying to discredit him. That alone gives him credence.

The very first sentence of this story is moronic. It shows a gross ignorance of the electoral process in this country.

Yes, the Donald is now polling higher than any single Republican. But as the non-crazy candidates drop out, their support will accrue to Rubio, mostly.  Trump has hit a ceiling. Everybody who likes him is already polling for him. Nobody else can stand him, and will never vote for him. So the odds are that trump won't even win the Republian nomination, but at least he has a slight chance there.

But in the general election?? Forget it. If it's Trump vs Hillary Clinton, then Clinton could get an "I love Satan" tattoo on her forehead and munch rug on live TV,  - and she would still win by a landslide.

I wouldn't count on that. The people at large in this country are pissed.

That said, I believe Trump could poll at 80% and not get the nomination. The old guard republicans are already making maneuvers behind the scenes to lock him out. And that, I think, more than counters a neocon making onto his staff -- those closed-door moves say he really is an untrusted outsider.

A lot of things happen when people start voting and they start getting counted.

People need to put down the crack pipe he's not going to win just because he leads now as of right now he'd be destroyed in a general election as you say.

I really don't think ANY ONE PERSON is going to solve this and I don't see the grass roots will right now to solve it either and if I were a betting man I'd say we're on the cusp of creating an uber hell hole right here in the good ol u s of a that will last a few generations minimum.

As much as I hate to admit it, PCR makes a very valid point about advisers, but the real problem would be once the election is over-

Trump doesn't get 16 television hours to select the best and fire the rest for each of the 5000+ apprentice jobs he would have to fill in a mere few months.  Moreover, the career (senior) civil, foreign and intelligence service officers tend to laugh when told "Your're fired!".  Just about every new president tries that, and even the imperial Obama failed miserably (at least in all the instances I am personally familiar with)...

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-29/trump-sides-putin-syria-you-sho...

Those aren't the "experts" that you or any one else needs to worry about.  Despite the fantasies of some of the local lunatics, the President of the USSA has immense power.  The problem is that the Devil is the details, and neither President nor the Cabinet Officers really make(and implement) policy.  That task falls to over a thousand Deputy Secretaries, Under Secretaries, Assistant Secretaries,  and the thousands of career SES, SFS, SIS, et al officers who are not even Presidential appointments... That is why nothing ever changes despite elections.  Not even Trump's rolodex is big enough to overcome that institutional resistance to change, but on the bright side- he might be less inclined to listen to the gray beards of the one party with regard to their "recommendations" as to the 1500 "best suited" for Senate approved positions, and the thousands of positions that don't require confirmation.

In an age of race to bottom there is one who flew out of the cuckoo's nest who knows how to resist to the kabal in power.

OK; assume its true.

But does he know what to do when he gets into office?

Why is this important?

Cos the kabal is WS + the Oligarchs.

How can ONE man without the administration, with DIRE enemies in BOTH Camps, turn the country round without support?

Unless he gets a general to declare martial law and dissolve government; aka abolish the status quo shills.

That is how its ALWAYS WORKED in the past.

A brass hat+ the army and a political boss.

But who wins then?

If the Political boss has the "cojones" of a Hitler or Mussolini he can reign in the Military. If not...?

Its back to the frying pan of having to beat all the status quo clan !

Can He?

Does PCR have another solution to the problem when the economy caves in; 'cos the status quo who control the levers of power won't take a populist "enemy" lying down !

Consequences can be worse than just winning an election. It takes time for the "penny to drop".

And then it could be too late!

Is AMerica ready to turn the tables on status quo?

Not this bunch right now who just live for i-phones and Facebook.

I don't disagree with you often, but here I think you underestimate our power.

We ordinary people are the solid part of this disintegrating edifice.  They are a power until they can't pay troops.  When things get hard, we can make their world stop working, and will.  No deaths needed, and that means many more pople will play the game.

Time to shift gears -- if he can.

If he can't then that's important to know early in the process. Doesn't mean he's a bad person, but it suggests Trump might not be able to handle shifting reality (the world outside deals) well enough.

Trump is absolutely wrong on his 9/11 claim. The only evidence of people celebrating in NJ were the five Mossad/Israeli "dancers". All of that has been documented as fact by the FBI and other legitimate sources.

Why is he peddling this blatant nonsense about "thousands of Muslims" celebrating the 9/11 attacks? It did not happen.

If all the lies against Muslims are what everyone thinks, then keep them out of the country till we figure out what the hell is going on. Same with 9/11. Why did Trump mention New Jersey? Because that's where the Israelis were caught. You know, the 5 Mossad guys who admitted they were there to record the event. Guess what! Such a good idea, yes it is so simple to manage an economy, makes you wonder why nobody has managed an economy well in all of human history.

But Trump can do it.  And we will all be so much better off with the prices of everything 1000% higher than now, inflation and all that is inevitable.

There are going to be enormous inflation within 2 years, as the national debt is rolled over onto fiat electrons.  $5T / year QE, you can think of it.

The US government is minimally competent now.  Real emergencies in our recent past have shown it would have been beter if FEMA stayed home.

I've said for 7 years now that after Obama will come the demagogue.  Obama is so weak and ineffectual.  Trump now leads because he appears bold.

PCR gets many things right IMO.  However, just because PCR says a thing is so does not make it so.  Ex - Trump didn't quote Al Jezeera during an interview.  Also, Trump has no informed advisors that he can trust?  So then Trump is already captured and will be not be able to make constructive change?

Really PCR?  Trump says he knows how to make a deal and therefore he knows people.  Accept that as a true baseline or not, but PCR jumps to the conclusion that Trump is already captured and the US must endure either collapse or bloody revolution.  That appears to be PCR's agenda.  Cannot Trump learn on the job and have a better understanding of issues after election?

Common on PCR - you can do better than this - perhaps your biases are showing.

What good are nukes if you are afraid to use them?  In an offensive capacity??  That's what won WW2.  Of course, we haven't won a war since that one so it is true the panty-waists are calling the shots.

We were the only ones who had nukes in 1945.  In 2015, many nations who don't give a fuck about the US have them, including Russia, China, Israel, North Korea and Pakistan.  Set off a nuke in the modern word, and you will get a nuke set back off in your own country real soon.

"When will the Republican Hit on Trump come ? Nixons Plumbers set up Wallace, hope Trump has first rate security."

Bill Bennett, remember hin?

What I See Happening In a Trump Presidency By Bill Bennett They will kill him before they let him be president. It could be a Republican or a Democrat that instigates the shutting up of Trump.  Don’t be surprised if Trump has an accident. Some people are getting very nervous: Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton and Jon Corzine, to name just a few. It’s about the unholy dynamics between big government, big business, and big media. They all benefit by the billions of dollars from this partnership, and it’s in all of their interests to protect one another. It’s one for all and all for one. It’s a heck of a filthy relationship that makes everyone filthy rich, everyone except the American people. We get ripped off. We’re the patsies. But for once, the powerful socialist cabal and the corrupt crony capitalists are scared. The over-the-top reaction to Trump by politicians of both parties, the media, and the biggest corporations of America has been so swift and insanely angry that it suggests they are all threatened and frightened. Donald Trump can self-fund. No matter how much they say to the contrary, the media, business, and political elite understand that Trump is no joke.  He could actually win and upset their nice cozy apple cart. a very interesting read...... more here...

Maybe you are correct, the US has not had a real President since JFK, and we all know what they did to him...(Executive order 11110)

My own take is that Trump could be the next Andrew Jackson, another cart spoiler who the Bankers tried to rub out when he refused to recharter a US central bank. The parallel is that Trump, like Jackson, wasn't beholden to any particular group. Trump may not be as rich as his maximum claims, but he is certainly rich enough to tell Adelson to go fuck himself.

Is Trump running for the money (perhaps allowing himself to be bribed to step down and allowing Hitlary to win)?

I think not. At a certain age, money loses some of its luster. Legacy becomes much more important, and Trump would love to be worshipped through history as the one who actually saved the US from turning into a corporate police state (whether he actually could accomplish this or not debatable of course).

As for Trump being in AIPAC's pocket, like Putin, he will probably agree to pay lip service to Israel (he is after all from New York and street wise). It could be that by mentioning the dancing MUSLIMS (which reinforces his immigration theme), he is making a sly allusion to the real meme, the dancing ISRAELIS - if he brought up Israel and 9/11 he would probably gain alot of attraction and start the sheep wondering - and a lot traction at least here on ZH ;)

Trump knows how the game is played and is telegraphing this to the Zionazis. In exchange, the Zionazis may allow him to live...

What makes anyone believe ANYONE at this point?

I love some of the things he says a few things scare me but it's not that I'm scared he'd be less competent than the current occupant that's unpossible.

Competence however is a double edged sword.  It's great if what they are doing is beneficial but if this is some dupe or con and we let him in there then all of a sudden competence is now suddenly a very bad thing.

Trump being popular thus would make him very dangerous and this competence would start to work against you in ways that are very bad for all of us.

Of course he's popular because he know's exactly what to say and that scares me more than a little because so far no one has been what they say they are when they get the job.

Maybe he even means well, maybe it's all just another con job.

The odds it's NOT a con job are not that great given recent history although a lot of people don't want to hear this.

This country is not going to be saved by one man it's just not.

You're right.  Unfortunately Trump has become the false Messiah to a lot of folks fed up with the system, just like Obama was in 2008.  Dreams of "hope and change" are always betrayed.

In the end, it doesn't matter who wins the elction.  There is one outcome that is historically inevitable at this point -- economic collapse and a second civil war.  If Trump wins, there will be economic collapse and civil war.  If Hillary wins, there will be economic collapse and civil war.

Well said. I would say, America gets the leaders it deserves, Bush was terrible, Obama looked good until he got into office, then his first comment was to give that piece of shit Joe Lieberman a break, and look the other way for his working for McShame. I state this because it showed an immediate character flaw:

Expediency over principal. Right off the bat Obama was displaying Washington think. “Don’t let the perfect get in the way of the good”, in other words, don’t let your ethics/principals get in the way of “progress”.

I like Trump, but I don’t trust him, you don’t make his kind of money being a principled man.

Like I said, America gets the leaders it deserves, but I would have to add a caveat, The US Zionist media does a very “good” job at controlling information, and when you put bad data in, you get bad results. Given all the facts, I think America (“left and right”: a Zionist media contrived notion, most Americans agree given the same facts, there is no divide) would do the right thing, make the right choices, question is, how can we ever get the right results, when we will have a Zionist media insuring we don’t.

Roberts uses the same thinking as the msm, only he couches it with jingoistic slogans and clichéd nonsense. Doesn't that make Roberts just another lying scumbag? Ya but, no but, ya but, no but, he speaks troof to power! Fools. You are being hoodwinked. Beware those who speak exactly what you want to hear, for it is they who most seek to bleed you dry. Roberts worked deep in government fer fucksake! Once you go that deep you are never, ever out until you are dead and Roberts is not only very much alive, but rich as fuck too. Funny how he too goes after Trump, no? Using the same bullshit, yet you all follow along -- bleating and babbling.

(Not ALL of you, of course, but most anyway)

What does it matter though?  It's not as if Roberts is leading anyone anywhere, or funneling anger into a useless dead end, limited hangout style.  He is one of many voices that are fed up.  Regardless of the rhetoric or the facts in dispute, the main point is that the chorus of discontent is joined and encourages more people to question and find their own answers.

In the beginning, it is the volume and the size of the crowd that matters.  After this phase comes the figuring out of what the real problems are.  One thing at a time.

GS is such a pussy. Putin is the good guy. GS is a total prick. The JewSA is responsible for the deaths of 10s of millions over the last 100 years. He is clearly a pinko faggot who plays to a jewish audience. GS is stuck in a time warp, still thinking selling the neocon farce about the russian bogeyman sells. GS forgets that the soviet jew whatever thing that *was* a problem is GONE now. In its place is a Christian leader of a Christian country. Russia is NOT feared or hated by most good Americans, but rather admired.

I know a lot of ppl are hard on DT because he has jew ties. Yes, but the iraq fiasco was planned and executed to perfection by jews. They wanted it and revere its outcome, but DT lambasts it.

You can see we are approaching a national epiphany about who really controls America - the jew zio demon beast. The more these zio demons keep trying to demonize Putin, who is making all strides Christian and trying to be a force for good in the world will expose the zio scum for who they really are. Only demons demonize a good man. The jews are well known for that :)
