The War On Terror Has Created 6500% More Terrorism

An analysis of terror attacks since 2002 suggests U.S. efforts to combat terrorism - i.e., the "War on Terror" - have led to a dramatic increase in death and suffering from terrorism.

Published this year on Sept. 11, Paul Gottinger, a staff reporter for Reader Supported News, analyzed incidents of terrorism from George Bush declaring the war on terror in the aftermath of 9/11 through the present, and found a staggering 6,500 percent increase in terrorism. Gottinger, who used data provided by the State Department in his analysis, found that casualties have increased by 4,500 percent.

Countries occupied by or being bombed the U.S. military seem to fare worst of all:

“[F]rom 2007 to 2011 almost half of all the world’s terror took place in Iraq or Afghanistan – two countries being occupied by the US at the time.

Countries experiencing US military interventions continue to be subjected to high numbers of terror attacks, according to the data. In 2014, 74 percent of all terror-related casualties occurred in Iraq, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Syria. Of these five, only Nigeria did not experience either US air strikes or a military occupation in that year.”

Further illustrating the devastating impact of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Gottinger’s report showed that terror attacks in that country jumped from 208 in 2002 to 11,000 by 2005.

In a Dec. 10 appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz suggested the Middle East was more stable before the war on terror began.

“Now, what has been a mistake — and we’ve seen a consistent mistake in foreign policy — is far too often, we’ve seen Democrats and a lot of establishment Republicans in Washington get involved in toppling Middle Eastern governments. And it ends up benefiting the bad guys. It ends up handing them over to radical Islamic terrorists,” Cruz said.

The following week, Ben Swann, a journalist and outspoken critic of U.S. foreign policy, agreed with this assessment, and outlined some of the other ways the war on terror destabilized Iraq:

“Before the 2003 U.S. invasion, do you know how many suicide attacks there were in Iraq? None. In the country’s history there had never been one. But since the 2003 invasion, there have been 1,892.

In Iraq, prior to the start of the Iraq war, there were reportedly just over 1.5 million Christians living in that country. And yet shortly after the war started, more than one million of them fled to Syria. That didn’t work out well. Today fewer than half a million Christians remain and yet are being exterminated by groups like ISIS.”

Millions have died in Iraq and throughout the Middle East as a result of modern U.S. imperialism. Current estimates suggest that at least 1.3 million died in the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

“These figures dwarf the roughly 3,000 people who tragically died in the September 11, 2001 attacks,” Gottinger wrote.

Created more terrorism my ass!  Go back to c.610 and start tabulating!

Besides, by this retarded logic the bigger war - The War on Liberty, should have "created" 1,000,000,000,000% more Freedom Fighters!!!

Think about it!

That's what this war is all about. Create terrorism everywhere so thugs can steal the economy and scared population don't question.

My favorite motivational speaker is Earl Nightengale.  His "secret" to the universe is that "you are what you think about".

When the neocons think about terrorism all of the time, there will be more of it.

Whenever there is a War on something, the end result will always be more of it.

War on Drugs, results in more drugs.  War on Poverty ended up making the middle class a minority. The left's War on Guns causes guns to fly off the shelves and record breaking sales.  Affordable Health Care Act caused health insurance to become unaffordable.  This inversion is built into this universe because we know what runs this world.

War of Terror - 9/11 was the excuse to drag out the conveniently pre-written 750+ page US PATRIOT Act (Orwell would be proud of that name).

Add a few more to the terrorist tabulation.

Driver Shouting 'Allahu Akbar!' Runs Down 11 French Pedestrians

A driver screaming "Allahu Akbar!" (Arabic for "God is great") appeared to deliberately mow down about a dozen pedestrians in the French city of Dijon before being arrested on Sunday, officials said.

The driver, who was in his forties, hit groups of pedestrians in five parts of the eastern city before being arrested, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior said on French television. Eleven people in all were injured, two of them seriously, officials said.

According to testimonies on the scene, the driver also invoked "the children of Palestine"' to explain his actions, the ministry's spokesman said.

Not really terrorism though.  Likely due to Global Warming.

No, make that 1948

The FIRST instance of Terrorism:

Former right-wing Israel prime minister Menachem Begin was once a leader in a terrorist group (the Irgun) that fought against the British in Palestine to create the Jewish state of Israel. Below he explains why -- to his dual ethical standard -- murders by Jewish groups cannot be termed "terrorism," but only the necessary acts of Jewish "freedom" fighters. His observations of course have profoundly ironic poignancy when applied to the current Israeli/Palestinian conflict -- especially the  suicide bombings by groups like Hamas. Begin's one-sided blindness goes far in explaining the vicious loop of the current Israeli-Palestinian violence:

"Our enemies called us terrorists. People who were neither friends nor enemies, like the correspondents of the New York Herald-Tribune, also used this Latin name, either under the influence of British propaganda or out of habit ...

The British Press and the British troops continued to call us by the name ["terrorist"] which, in their Generals' opinion, suggested bravery on our part and fear on theirs. They called us 'terrorists' to the end. No doubt there was a psychological explanation for this. And yet, we were not terrorists ... It all depends on who uses the term ...

The historical and linguistic origins of the political term 'terror' prove that it cannot be applied to a revolutionary war of liberation ... A revolution, or a revolutionary war, does not aim at instilling fear. Its object is to overthrow a regime and to set up a new regime in its place. In a revolutionary war both sides use force. Tyranny is armed. Otherwise it would be liquidated overnight. Fighters for freedom must arm; otherwise they would be crushed overnight. Certainly the use of force also wakens fear. Tyrannous rulers begin to fear for their positions, or their lives, or both. And consequently they try to sow fear among those they rule. But the instilling of fear is not the aim in itself. The sole aim on the one side is the overthrow of armed tyranny; on the other side it is the perpetuation of that tyranny.

The underground fighters of the Irgun arose to overthrow and replace a regime. We used physical force because we were faced by physical force. But physical force was neither our aim nor our creed. We believed in the supremacy of moral forces. It was our enemy who mocked at them. That is why, notwithstanding the enemy's tremendous preponderance in physical strength, he it was who was defeated, not we. That is the law of history ... What has a struggle for the dignity of man, against oppression and subjegation, to do with 'terrorism?' Our purpose, in fact, was precisely the reverse of 'terrorism.' The whole essence of our struggle was the determination to free our people of its chief affliction -- fear." [BEGIN, M., 1977, p. 59-61]

Sanity Bear's picture

If you think that the first instance of terrorism occurred in 1948, that says a lot about how limited your view of the world is. As just one example: 1300 years before that, Muhammad was bragging about how he terrorized his enemies into subjugation.

That was the whole point and it has been very successful as a policy!

This is just the beginning, a breakout of global civil unrest will occur as we embark on a clash of civilizations and a fight for survival in the new year, as it has just been reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is allegedly ‘Hitler’s Daughter’ and the Fourth Reich is about to become a reality......

post turtle saver's picture

so, it's had the same effect as the War on Poverty and the War on Drugs...

one thing is for sure, whenever the guvmint declares "War" on something, bet on the other side winning...

Demdere's picture

Of course.  That was its intent, as shown by the fact it has continued 15 years.  Even the US government would have figured it out by now.  How many studies said drones create terrorists faster than they killed terrorists?  Drones still have not stopped killing innocents, in fact we go on burning our our drone pilots and creating new psychopaths among them.

The war must be continued, chaos is the goal, otherwise our Israeli-Neocons will hang.  This is endgame for them, they are losing reality and iin nformation flow.  Time to discuss an Amnesty Program for Israeli-Neocons that avoids the civil war that will rout them here in the US.

Israeli Veterans’ Criticism of West Bank Occupation Incites Furor

JERUSALEM — A few years after Avihai Stollar had completed his obligatory army service — which coincided with the second intifada — he was approached by a member of Breaking the Silence, a leftist organization of combat veterans that says it aims to expose the grim reality of Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.

Mr. Stollar, who served as a platoon sergeant in an infantry unit south of Hebron, said he found himself recounting experiences that he said had seemed “logical” from the perspective of a soldier. As a civilian, he said, “Something opened up. I was in shock.”

Mr. Stollar, 32, is now the research director of Breaking the Silence, and at the center of a furor that is laying bare Israel’s divisions over its core values and the nature of its democracy.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the group from the podium of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, last week, accusing it of “slandering” Israeli soldiers before audiences around the world. The defense minister, Moshe Yaalon, described the group’s motives as “malicious” and banned it from activities involving soldiers. Naftali Bennett, the education minister in the government that is dominated by rightist and religious parties, barred it from entering state schools.

Wrong, in that this is a war on God consciousness among other things.  And even if one has a different faith these are still a billion+ people who prostrate themselves 5 times a day to give blessing to God, not to sin and/or mammon.

    Yeah, okay Mr Humanitarian.

    One And Only's picture

I'm not masquerading as a humanitarian.

    But you're talking about .01%.

You know muslim groups over there are committing actual genocide right? In Africa too. Killing husbands, brothers, and sons and raping their wives and daughters and they are doing this to entire groups of people like the Yazidis.

So what do we do? What happened last time we did nothing when this happened last? We looked the other way with Hitler and 60 million people died.

    Baby Bladeface's picture
Baby Bladeface (not verified) One And Only Dec 23, 2015 11:49 AM

What you cheering now that US takes the place of Hitler?

Or you telling that US need to kill these people or else they will die?

And why for you it is an occasion for joy? Just wondering.

    Demdere's picture

Did not those African terrorsts get created by our WOT? As I recall, Khadaffi's arms went to the crazies throughout central africa, the ones now doing the massacres.

Not planned, no need.  Just that things like this happen when enabled and perhaps subtly guided via SA's preachers?

    Augustus's picture

That 1.3 million number is pure B.S.

Saddam Hussein - your muzzie hero - likely did kill that many.  Denying food and medical supplies to his population to maintain control.  He only shot the really unhapppy ones.

    Sanity Bear's picture

Denying food and medical supplies to Iraq was the explicit policy of the Clinton Administration under Secretary of State Madeline Albright. Here she is justifying the deaths of a half million innocents as a direct result of that policy:

    Augustus's picture

No it was not the policy to deny food and medical supplies.  The funds from oil sales were sequestered by the UN.  All that was necessary was for Saddam to ask for the money to be used for those purposes.

change your name to a more accurate Insanity Bear.

    More Ammo's picture

Dr.  What about the empire toppling buildings in the USSA?

    Dr. Engali's picture

Yep, the empire is guilty of that too. Fear is needed for perpetual war.

    Augustus's picture

When the Mohammadian goes around destroying buildings, bombing innocent meetings, capturing and raping women, and shooting up the populations, blowback is the result.  These nutters have resumed their mission of forcible installation of Islam onto the western world.  Why are the Muzzies blowing up all of those brown people?

    Demdere's picture

So where is your evidence of ' forcible installation of Islam onto the Western World'?

Islam is a decentralized religion, so doesn't have a foreign policy that I know of.

    Sanity Bear's picture

He's right on that point, if not the larger thrust of his argument. The ongoing forcible installation of Islam into the West by corrupt leaders can be witnessed by observing the massive columns of military-age Muslim males marching across Europe despite overwhelming opposition from actual Europeans. It can also be witnessed by observing the Obama admin's insistence on bringing 100k of them here, even though none of the places he plans to settle them want them to be here.

    Augustus's picture

The foreign policy part is delivered to the followers in every mosque.  Islam is a government, not simply a religion.
