From the South, too--but I don't feel unseamly about sipping a Narwhal Imperial Stout after my Christmas day bicycle ride (@ 14:00.)
For all of you old timers who miss Marla's late night sets, here's a link to a streaming archive of hour long guest DJ mixes from the studios of KEXP in Seattle. Not Marla, but reminiscent--minus the chat rooms that were a fun way to blow off steam among ZHers back in the day.
For those whose tolerance of the traditional Christmas songs is waning, check out Brian Foss' punk Christmas on the live stream there later tonight.
Best wishes for all...
Shout out to WB7, Ruth, Miles, CD, CheekyBastard, Miffed, UrbanRedneck, JackBurton, DoChen, Travis, MissExpectations, MsCreant, Lothar, & Seek, among others who have learned me much over the years.
Tyler, how about a repost of some of wallstreetpro's excellent videos as a ghost of holidays past twist...?
I'm in abstinence mode for a few moar hours today too. Lovey volunteered to work today cuz she hates the empty nest, especially this time of year, so she pranced off early dressed as a little elf nurse. I don't argue, she likes doing it so another nurse mom with kids can have the day at home. Our son is doing so well with his biz, the kids want us to move up north of you (Maine) but thats another story. I've learned to never say never, so we'll see.
Yesterday we held off so we wouldn't be too hammered to cook lol. What a night,,grilling steaks under the moonlight in this crazy warm weather. (I've got frogs swimming around in our pond and bluebirds building nests) It was so nice last night I lit the tiki torches and pulled the cork on some homemade mountain liquor.
Woke up this morning with the first snow of the year on the ground (at 1200 feet, no less). Didn't last long, but got the day off to a nice start.
Thiis is the second Christmas without my wife, and it is still really hard, but the snow kinda helped. It was gone by noon, but it was still a reminder that winter is here this year in Northern California, and it had been raining, and that is a good thing.
Best of the holiday season to you and yours ZHers, and thanks again for the umpteen time WB.
N.F.P. Merry Christmas, and I hope it's a truly blessed one for you. I won't try to pretend to know the loneliness you are feeling, but I really hope you have a lot of good times to reflect back on, and look Fwd to. Love and peace to you Bro.
