2015 Was First Pre-Election Year to End In the Red Since the Great Depression

George Washington's picture

The year before elections is almost always the best year for stocks.

Investors notes:

Pre-election years takes the top spot as the best-performing year for stocks.

UBS reports:

Ahead of US Presidential Elections  (Pre-Election Year or Year 3 and Election Year or Year 4) politicians often promote an accommodating and pro-business agenda so that the economy is  strong,  stock  market  is  bullish,  and  voters  are  upbeat  heading
to the polls.

The Stock Trader’s Almanac notes (via a press release by publisher Wiley):

Pre-election years are notoriously the best year of the four-year cycle and fifth years of decades are the strongest, so 2015 has some solid history behind it,” says the Almanac’s Editor-in-chief Jeffrey A. Hirsch. “The Dow has not had a loss in a pre-election year since 1939.

But in 2015, the Dow closed down for the year2.2% into the red.

Don't forget lasers!  They're going to save the day, with their super duper HIGH SPEED.  We'll churn the dog crap out of it and extract every $0.000001 we can out of every femto second possible.

And what did the markets really create?  Worse, the mergers continue, with Dowpont recently anouncing 10% cuts for 'efficiency' and 6,000 out the door right now.  And the pricing competition between them?  Fuggaboutit!

Would the correlation (election year, rising stocks) be better for only the years for potential reelection?

Yes.  Then they will impeach Trump if he gets elected, over anything trivial, and plug in a Republican cross-aisle cooperative to continue the change to consolidate oligarchy and install communism.  There's no way these people are going to give it up.  If Hillary is elected by a landslide for all her murders and deceptions, graft and corruption, then they find somebody else to blame if things aren't manageable economically to look good during her presidency.  This might be the time in US history where the government turns on the people, and blames them, because if you study history, we are rapidly approaching that point, and every failed empire goes through that stage.

It is already happening.  If Trumo is elected and things go bad they will blame us all.  It is already set in stone like Obama's face on Mt Rushmore.

1/2 of the only winning move is not to play.

The other 1/2 is those in positions of influence realizing that and acting on it based on them actually coming to their senses.

Scary shit, indeed.  You can add desperation to the mix.  I think that there are a lot more peeps awake now, than there was a few years ago and thier figuring it out too.

Think about it, a half billion reads on this website!  And that half billion probably talks to at least another person about it, making that a half billion reads and at least a half billion shares, making it reach, at the minumum a billion people!  That's pretty mindblowing if you think about it, that's 15% of the World Population!

The great depression.  We have to stop allowing the bankers to name these events.  It was great for them that's for sure...

(great -- of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average)

In a similar vein, a guy from Miami once told me that so many people "got well" after Hurricane Andrew, locally it was known as "Saint Andrew", a miracle worker.

Yes, otherwise nothing else of importance happened in 1939 to lift the US and other countries out of the Great Depression via a LOT of broken windows, body bags, lend lease programs, and various projects at Hanford, Washington.

They tried to ramp oil, the USDJPY, as well an attempt to squash VIX to push stocks green for the year. All to no avail.

Happy New Year!
