"Carson Campaign In Chaos" As Two Top Aides Resign

Tyler Durden's picture

Less than two months ago Ben Carson surprised pundits when out of nowhere the neurosurgeon jumped to the top of GOP primary polling, surpassing even dark horse Donald Trump.

That surge, however, is now a long gone memory because as the Hill reports, Ben Carson’s top aides have resigned, "casting the retired neurosurgeon’s campaign into chaos just a month before the Iowa caucuses."

Carson’s communications director Doug Watts told The Hill in a statement that he and campaign manager Barry Bennett will step aside. “Barry Bennett and I have resigned from the Carson campaign effective immediately,” Watts said.

The departures are unexpected considering Carson recently announced a solid fundraising effort.

“We respect the candidate and we have enjoyed helping him go from far back in the field to top tier status," he continued. "Having just announced raising $23 million for the fourth quarter, more than any other Republican candidate, and passing 1 million contributions and over 600,000 unique donors since March, we are proud of our efforts for Dr.  Carson and we wish him and his campaign the best of luck.”

Even more surprising is that according to the Hill, Carson has been talking about shaking up his campaign, but in an interview with The Hill last week insisted his top advisers were safe.

The publication adds that there has been tension between the team and Armstrong Williams, a close friend and personal adviser to Carson, who has been frustrated by the direction of the campaign.

The problem is that while Carson continues to raise enormous sums of money, his polling numbers have collapsed as the focus of the GOP race has turned to foreign policy in the wake of several high profile terror attacks.

The result is that while Carson has seen his polling tumble, largely at the expense of a resurgent Ted Cruz, Donald Trump regains what one month ahead of the Iowa February 1 caucus remains as insurmountable lead.

So for now, we have placed a question mark over Carson who will hardly throw in the towel. That said, it is only a matter of time before the "?" becomes a "X", and barring some dramatic change, sees Trump continue to steamroll through the competition as the presidential race enters its final lap.

So, were these 2 guys moles also? Carson has always struck me as a straw man candidate, just like Herman Cain. There were a ton of 'Draft Ben Carson' radio ads here. That takes a lot of money.

> Carson is a Religious Nutjob; Iowa has a big group of Rightwing Religious Nutjobs.

> Iowa's Religious Nutjobs put Carson on top...these are the same people that backed Pat Robertson for the nomination in 1988!

> Carson began speaking, and even the Religious Nutjobs in Iowa thought he was nuts...and they abandoned him...how sad is that?

> Carson is finished, once outside of Iowa he'll be battling Jeb for 4% of the vote.

~"The publication adds that there has been tension between the team and Armstrong Williams, a close friend and personal adviser to Carson, who has been frustrated by the direction of the campaign."~

So Doc Carson decides to side with a friend of 20 years rather than a couple of mechanics he had hired. Williams is no village idiot. He's also politically adept. "Frustrated by the direction" could be anything, but it certainly is something and it was enough of an impasse to require change. I think it is foolish and premature to count the good doctor out of the race. There's even a Bible verse in there somewhere about it.

Second Ecluckieasticals Chapter 2 verse 7: "Counteth not thy chickens before the primaries." (or something like that).

Iowa: Cruz 30.3% and Carson 9.3%

NH: Cruz 11.5% and Carson 5.5%

Iowa's Religious Nutjobs switched from "outwardly obvious crazy" Carson to "got it together a little better crazy" Cruz.

Cruz and Carson are both battling Jeb and Kasich for 5th place in New Hampshire.

Trump knows Iowa's Religious Nutjobs won't be swayed into his camp, so he's run next to zero ads in Iowa...he'll take second and blow them away in NH and everywhere that the Religious Nutjobs don't rule.

You might elicit a better response by clarifying your reference to "Religious Nutjobs," which seems like a sweeping, insulting generalization.  Every religion has its psychopaths and extremists and sheep.  Better labels might be Pentecostal, Zionist, Dominionist, or better yet, simply Fundamentalist. Most Christians are not so vulnerable to fundamentalist brainwashing, which typically targets an angry, impoverished underclass, especially during troubled times. Ignorant people embrace simple answers to complicated problems, especially when it gives them a sense of purpose, empowerment, value and community. "Zionism" is particularly shameless in that regard: "We are the CHOSEN!"  It's an old trick, part of the Craft of all religions for a very long time.  The globalist 'Green' movement employs many of the same techniques.

What's always remarkable to me is how otherwise intelligent people (Carson is a neurosurgeon) can be completely mindless and lacking in critical thought about the world at large. It's as if he lived his entire life in a box. This ignorant man wants to be America's President and the Commander-in-Chief of the United States Military?!

"Religious Nutjobs" - anyone that believes in a 'Magic Man in the Sky", and all other 'Magic Men in the Sky" are false God's and it's the true 'Magic Man in the Sky" worshipers duty to save all those other people even if they have to kill most of them to carry out the 'Magic Man in the Sky's" will.

Did that clear it up for you?

"It's as if he lived his entire live in a box."

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/ben-carsons-campaign-admits-he-never-applied...

Unlike Doctor Carson, I actually HAD an Army Recruiter hunt me down in High School; and try to get me to consider joining the Army.  I didn't think much of it - he saw my ASVABs (my SATs too, probably), knew I applied to Annapolis (Naval Academy), Colorado Springs Spa and Resort (Air Force Academy), and to both Navy and Air Force ROTC Programs.  I was a Navy Kid, attending school at a Naval Base Overseas - 7th Fleet Headquarters.  The school always cranked out someone going to the Academy, ROTC, or to the Enlisted Ranks every year.

The Recruiter pressured the HS Counselor into getting setting up a meeting (not only me; but IIRC, he tried to meet everyone who was going for the Officer Programs of the Services that visit); and I consented, since I felt sorry for the Counselor.

The Recruiter tried to talk me into getting interested in joining the Army.  I told him that my Father was a Sailor, I was planning the join the Air Force or the Navy(Marines as well, Navy Dept), and though my Uncle and his Sons were the "Army Household" of the extended Family, I had no interest in joining - regardless of how many aircraft the Army had over the Air Force.

He asked me of my preferences of the time; and I responded with:

1) Air Force

2) Navy

3) Marine Corps

"Then?"  He started to smile...

4) Coast Guard.  ROTFLMAO!!!  Funny thing is, I went to the Naval Academy Prep School with Coasties.  So choice 4 did come through...

The Recruiter was doing his Job (albeit in a questionable manner - since I didn't approach the Army, he shouldn't have had access to my ASVABs) trying to meet people who might consider joining the Army.

In Conclusion...
There are no Scholarship Guarantees - or Scholarships for that matter - for the Service Academies. There may be some Lobbying for an Applicant to obtain a Nomination (that's where Carson's Lie may be sourced).  Nomination from multiple sources (100 for POTUS, 5 for each Congressman, one or a few from JrROTC Programs, Children of Medal of Honor Winners, etc.,) are scarce.  I had 2 Nominations(POTUS and Congress) to the Naval and Air Force Academies and later on, an Academy Prep School Guarantee (the "only guarantee" - if you graduate with a 2.0 or higher and did well in your Military Evals and other screenings(drugs), you can enter the Prep School's Service Academy).

Some Athletes, Minorities, and Women are recruited; as are physically fit scholars.  I personally think we could do without "lowering" our Test Score criteria for Athletes, Women, and Minorities.  On a Man for Man (and Woman for Woman) bases, we've more NCAA Caliber Athletes per Capita than most Schools. We may no longer get ranked in the Top25 NCAA Football Teams in a good year; but this isn't about Football or Tournament Championships - it's about getting Tech Competent Junior Officers to the Fleet.  No need to fill the ranks with Lifers with No Future Outside the Fleet.  I'd rather have USNA link up with the Ivy League Teams, since that's where a good portion of our top Grads go for their Masters, anyway.

Back to the Doctor, his confirmed Lies and almost as important, his Church's Failed Worldview (e.g., wrongfully predicting the Rapture a few times, more recently, in 1988 (why stick around when it's obviously a fraud), and a ZioCon/NeoCon nursing ground) pretty much makes him someone not to Vote for.

Sorry, Doctor Carson.

DineroAmature,

You obviously have your Head stuck up somewhere deeply, since I've never mentioned CNN.  Military Recruiters chase all kinds of people.  They have quotas to make.  Sometimes, they look for diversity points.  I think the Military has made too many compromises for certain Programs, while not looking hard enough at certain demographics.

I posted articles in periodicals which looked up the Issue regarding Doctor Carson's Lies.

You've mistaken HighSchool JROTC with ROTC.

He may have had the highest ACT Scores in 20 Years out of Detroit (not exactly an IQ Nexus of the USA); but for whom, Black Males from the Public Schools?  Likely.  Black Males in JROTC Programs in Public Schools? Even more Likely.

If he had "Smoking Hot ACT Scores" in a relatively high profile location like Detroit, the Recruiters from Negro Schools and Diversity Programs Types from Major Regional Schools and Liberal Ivy Towers in the East would have been knocking on his door.

Over everyone?  Probably not.   The fact that they mentioned "Public School System" implies otherwise.  I may sound Elitist; but I've taken the ACT and PEGGED the Math.  More I look into it, I don't think Dr. Carson scored so relatively high on a National Scale.

I've probably raised more clarifying/debunking arguments and criteria to bust the Doctor's "JROTC WonderBoy Hype" (usually initiated/sustained by raw scores known by quite a few).

Occidental College?  42% Acceptance Rate.  Not a great Pre-Med School.  My Brother (who's Half Black like myself) went to a Reputable School in the East Coast on a PreMed Program that has 1/3 the Acceptance Rate.

Five most popular majors for 2014 graduates

Economics, General 16% Biology/Biological Sciences, General 8% International Relations and Affairs 7% Political Science and Government, General 7% Psychology, General 7%

Lies, Hype, and Spin.

Had he attended a Nationally Ranked Pre-Med Program, I would have been a bit easy on him; but this cake-walk of a College after the JROTC/ACT/SAT Hype just doesn't cut it with me.

Based on what I've searched over the years, Bona Fide Black Sci/Tech Intellectuals are hard to find.

Do you really think Carson had 30% among any group, ever, other than perhaps his family?

If two polls are +/- 4%, how can one poll have Trump at 40% and the other have him at 25%.  It is mathematically impossible if the margins of error are both correct.

Rand Paul is basically getting under 5% in every published poll in the last 4 months (which purportedly justifies not talking about him, his views, how he would fare against Clinton), yet watch him get double his polling numbers when the count the votes.

I am also on record predicting that Carson and Trump will get 10 percentage points less that what they have been polling once they count the votes.  Looks like I was right about Carson, time will tell with Trump.

Whatever the vote count is, DO NOT mention Rand Paul if you are MSM, but if you do, don't mention the actual voting results in States that have voted, only mention the "poll numbers" in States that haven't voted.

The latest issue of Reason magazine had an article on WHY political polling is going the way of the dinosaurs.

I wouldn't count on any political poll to be anywhere near accurate these daze!

Do you REALLY think the Race or Gender of the next POTUS really matters?

Now, Sexual Orientation - taking a good look at the situation here, some Gays are Paedophiles and Pederasty Advocates (to those Gays who "deny" the correlation, may I remind you of your co-leader Mister Henry Hay, a friend of NAMBLA and a Pederasty Advocate) - might be an issue, depending on the Candidates Worldview and Position on the aforementioned.

The same rules apply to the Straight People too; but I think the Paedophile Screenings have already been done by the Public and the Candidates' Adversaries - for now.

I think regardless of how you feel about any of the (Republican) candidates - personally I don't think much of them or much of the Dem condidates either - the system is designed to offer you the establishments selection (of candidates) and the ground games must be played as part of that dance.

So, whether, Carson would good or bad as The Prez, he stinks at the ground game - plus he's a tad weird.

Fiorina - other than she has no chance unsure of her ability to play their game.

So, the non establishmenet politico left is - TRUMP - and it remains to be seen what further havoc he can cause NOT playing the establishment's game.

But, hey, we know it's all theater and nothing much will change at the core - where to problems are.

Friends and relatives were Carson supporters. My impression, he was the great black ""conservative" hope for white voters still trying to prove they are not racists. He has limited range of knowledge on important topics, foreign policg, economics, immigration....like many conservatives he is stuc k in 90s Heritage Foundation talking points, likely easily manipulated by advisers from the MIC, In  OVER HIS HEAD. Nice man, well spoken, if things were not so dire we could afford 4 yrs of Carson. In a better world someone like Sen. Jeff Sessions would be the candidate, but given the celebrity obsession of 99% of Americans he would not stand a chance. I do know Sessions has advised Trump on TPP, TIIP,  ET AL, and immigration, plus crap sandwich H-1 and 2b work visas. Sessions was at forefront of calling budget deal a betrayal, a disaster. I can hope Trump either make him VP or  AG. Sessions was a kick ass prosecutor at one time.  But if politics holds true to form, the PTB will pull a Reagan-Bush deal and jam Jeb, Kasich or Rubio down  his throat should he win the nomination......  I hope he has more back bone then Reagan and not stuff his administratio  with SSDD guys from the old guard.

Very much doubt Trump will accept a Reagan-Bush deal.  Reagan was inclined to be conciliatory.  Trump is not.

Trump will make a VP choice that he expects to help him sweep up a lot more votes, which probably means a hispanic female who he thinks is competent enough to be effective.

They are now voted in for looks, I take it. Failed CEO is probably a better argument but arguments don't seem to count.

If arguments counted then one would check over if they'd do something for the American electorate instead of rambling on about foreign power plays. Just and idea, doesn't mean it's a good one.

I don't think Carson has a chip on his shoulder because he's a negro. I think he's a good man of enormous accomplishment. It's just that he has no qualifications whatsoever for the presidency, and he proves it every time he opens his mouth. Hence the polls.

If I were The Donald, I'd peel off $100 million out of sofa change and set Carson up as the head of an independent (not Big Pharma) neurology/neurosurgery research institute. Carson needs to leverage his accomlishments in a way that actually makes sense.
