Something Went Wrong In Baltimore
It has been a bloody year in Baltimore, that much everyone knows, but as The Economist shows, something changed dramatically after Freddie Gray's death in April...
On November 14th the police department reported the city’s 300th homicide in 2015, a total not seen since 1999.
The surge in killings in the majority-black city of roughly 623,000 began after the death on April 19th of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who was fatally injured while in police custody. Since Mr Gray’s death the city has recorded 244 homicides, a 78% increase over the same period in 2014, representing more than 100 additional deaths.
Criminologists and city officials disagree as to the causes:
- Some say police have deliberately pulled back from poor, black neighbourhoods, a theory that the police disputes.
- Others blame an influx of drugs from pharmacies looted during the April riots.
- A third theory is that a decline in trust between the police and the policed has had deadly consequences: fewer residents talk to the police, which leads to fewer murders being solved, which - by lowering the odds of being caught - results in more murders.
Whatever the reason, the killing continues. Just hours after the 300th murder, police reported a shooting in the city’s Westport neighbourhood, the fourth homicide of the day. The total for the year now stands at 305.

There's a problem with handouts, its breeds low esteem, and bad behaviour.
I would like to float an idea,
The most good mentors come from parents, and people of influence like employeers, and local business owners. If bad behaviour was taxed by ethic original then these mentors would step up to the plate.
Police can't influence grass root behaviour, mentors can so lets induce an incentive. It could cover the cost of running prisons.
My parents ran a food business in a small town over run by a gang, the business owners got together and refused to serve them. Six months the gang disappeared.
Simple, no welfare unless you agree to a NORPlANT under your arm.

My theory:
90% of your profits come from 10% of your customers.
90% of your problems are caused by 10% of your customers.
A majority (90%?) of the killing is done by a small contingent of gang bangers, sacking each other, to consolidate turf and drug sales.
Only an idiot Mayor or Police commissioner would insert themselves into this battle. A relatively small number, who cause most of the problems, and cost the system the most in time, money and resources. Let them purge themselves. As long as there is minor collateral damage, stay out of their way.
Once they do a nice purge, handle what remains. It's kind of like letting Saddam Hussein control Iraq, then, you control Hussein. If we learned anything, you don't kill him.

Drugs are a convenient excuse, but they are not the cause of black dysfunction, they are a symptom of it. Black crime and poverty are rooted in their completely dysfunctional culture, and in 50 years of misguided social programs that encouraged dependency, rewarded negative behavior, and punished positive behavior. One of the foundational concepts of human behavior is that you get more of whatever behaviors you reward/encourage, and less of behaviors that you punish/discourage. In the name of social justice we did the exact opposite, and now we are reaping the consequences.

Up until the 60's we had black men of strong character. They were family rooted, religious, and extremely decent people. Theyt were excellent fathers and strong leaders within their commnunites. They produced Martin Luther King and Malcomb X. For ignorant white people, Malcom X is an individual that all of us would vote as president these days.
Johnsons' welfare program was designed to kill the strength of the 'coloreds' as they were called back then. They were making strides in social equality, demonstrating graphically that no man was inferior to another, and exposed blatant racism as supreme personal sacrifice. (Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, aside.) And many whites supported them in their efforts.
These people were not porch monkies or dindus. They were solid, main stream americans who had jobs and families and had decently put up with complete bullshit until they couldn't take it any more. They were justifiably outraged, just as we are with the curent situation in economics, politics, and social life.
I'm no expert, but I suspect that Welfare was designed to kill the black nuclar family. Beenfits only went to single mothers, men became useless within the household, and their presence resulted in a lowering of benefit payments. (Similar for food stamps.) The State designed programs that pushed the man out of the house and minimized his influence on the family.
And that shit continued at least until 1996.
How do I know, I went on welfare in 1993 while I completed six years of college in 1996. The State of California tried to force me out from our family, required literal foot high paperwork each month, and resulted in my wife and I nearly divorcing (after about sxi month apart) as a result. And then being accused of cheating welfare and threatened with fines and withholdings.
After dealing with welfare, and watching an entire race of formerlly decent, educated, patriotic americans dessicated by government programs...I can only say it's by design.
And to any, whatever the fuck you're called these days, black, colored, African American (I really don't give a shit, you're an American), you should be focusing your rage on the welfare office and DC. You think people like me fucked your life...you have no clue.

I've been avoiding Baltimore and Detroit like the plague for the last 20 years. Now adding St. Louis, Chicongo, etc. Notice any pattern?
On my wife's and I's 'First Vacation' we took a train through Baltimore, after a two day stay in DC Even then I told her it wasn't worth the risk of touring. We made our way up the little states, into Canada, and across..with a stop at a casino in Detroit (not going into how dismal and depressing it was to view that city at that time). Stopped for an hour, she came out with $350, I came out with $250,,,$600 in one hour. We then drove to Kalamazoo, becuase there was no fucking way I'd have us in Detroit for a night.
Been to the inner harbor a few years back with the wife & kids, stayed in a nice hotel with a catwalk over the streets right to the shops, attractions, etc. No trouble at all, but wouldn't go back. There was a ring of beat cops and bicycle cops keeping the dindus out of the harbor area. No shit, they couldn't even cross the street without getting interrogated by the cops. And all the tourists were warned not to travel into the city more than a block or two from the harbor. Nice place, think I'll just pass through next time.
In the case of Mr. William Cosby...why is it 'Breaking News' on major network news when a black man is indicted on rape charges? Is this not what they do? It's as if they just can't help themselves. Same with the killing.....they just can't seem to be able help themselves.
