In Latest Escalation, Oregon Militia Tears Down Government Fence, Demands Freedom For Ranchers

Tyler Durden's picture

Last week, Ammon Bundy met Harney County Sheriff David Ward on the side of Lava Bed Road near Highway 78.

Ward was attempting to negotiate a peaceful end to the protracted standoff that began two Saturdays ago when Bundy and a handful of armed militiamen “seized” a remote bird sanctuary in Oregon.

Bundy and his followers decided to occupy the federal building as a show of solidarity with Dwight Hammond and his son Steven who were sent back to jail last week in connection with fires they set back in 2001 and 2006.

Bundy’s militia - who now call themselves the “Citizens for Constitutional Freedom” - say they are standing up for state’s rights in a kind of ad hoc, haphazard rekindling of the Sagebrush Rebellion.

Following the meeting with Ward, Bundy said he felt like the group’s demands were being ignored. The Sheriff agreed. "I don't feel like they think they're getting enough attention yet," Ward remarked.

Subsequently, armed members of the Pacific Patriots Network showed up at the refuge before being asked to leave by Bundy. That visit prompted a meeting between the group and the FBI.

Now, in the latest escalation, Bundy is tearing down a government fence and replacing it with a gate in a move the group says will give local ranchers access to federal land. Here's the incredibly dramatic footage:

Earlier today, Bundy insisted that the men will not be leaving the federal building until the Hammonds are set free.

So, there you have it. The first federal property has been destroyed and Bundy has doubled down on the Hammond freedom demands.

Perhaps this latest publicity stunt will prompt authorities to end the 10-day siege although we imagine Bundy will soon be forced to do something a bit more dramatic if he wants to recapture the interest of an American public whose attention span is two days at best.

as long as we're off topic, there's an upcoming Senate vote on auditing the Fed sponsored by Rand Paul. 24 co-sponsors, all Republican. Where are the Democrats? This is something that SHOULD be passed! (although it will never happen)

Auditing the Fed is like auditing the mafia.....They are criminals so are you ever going to believe the information they provide for an audit? Rand Paul and his "audit the Fed" cause is just another act of controlled opposition. Rand Paul and his ilk simply act as gatekeepers for those who still need someone to follow.

I believe there is more to lose by doing an "audit" of the Fed than there is to gain so I'm completely against any token reigning in of a criminal organization for political purposes. Kill the Fed.....now there is a cause I can get behind!

This guy here does a good job detailing some of what is going on in Oregon.

Greg Walden addresses U.S. House on situation in Harney County, OR, federal overreach in the West

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx4ocLdWE90

Summary - 24 minute c-span - Walden talks about legislation he wrote to alleviate growing tension between ranchers and BLM. Despite it's passage, he describes how BLM often ignores the law. For example, BLM was supposed to build fences to keep cattle off "federal land" but it doesn't.

He also provides some context for the Hammond's outrageous prison sentence and cites examples of BLM setting these back fires on private land without consequence or even reimbursing for things like burned fences. Walden states that with the fines, the 2 Hammonds back in prison, and the stripped grazing rights - that leaves the grandmother in charge of the ranch, that will be in BK before long.

It looks like this rep went through the democratic process to try to improve things but no, the feds will have none of it. He says he doesn't support the takeover deal, but what the fuck else is left?

Here's another story about this from a few days ago.

I guess if poaching and starting forrest fires to cover your tracks is ok in your book, then set them free.  I take it none of your kin is a forest fire fighter.  Next step is turning wildlife sanctuaries over to the "ranchers" to do with as they please for fun and profit.

The Hammonds were tried and convicted of starting fires to cover their poaching.  They didn't serve the minimum sentence for the crime.  Bundy and his group of idiots do want to take federal wildlife lands and turn them over to ranchers.

if this escalates to the point of an armed standoff (or worse), then folks will start 'acting', not 'asking'... i.e. way too late for 'asking'...

given the Feds track record for f*cking-up these kinds of situations, I fully expect this to end very badly. winter weather is probably the only thing keeping the lid on this thing right now...

i've lived out west for 20 years now, and this Fed land ownership/management issue is going to get resolved, one way or another... and if states/politicians don't wise-up and resolve this peacefully, then the resolution WILL be messy. folks out here are sick and tired of watching 60% of the west's land being mismanaged to the point of worthlessness (and worse), and they are more than ready to resolve this forcefully if that's what it takes.  easterners scoff at such 'radical' talk/action, which is why they're easterners (shopping at supermarkets).

yet another issue where states' rights must be (and will be) restored, one way or another.  Feds/politicians - ignore these situations/warnings at your own peril...

Anyone calling for violence against the ranchers is either a government shill or a New Deal Democrat, aka the FSA (Free Sh*t Army).  Our Fed Government has unfortunately become about as evil as any previous regime bent on world conquest.   Examples being the Gulf of Tonkin hoax used to justify killing 4 million Vietnamise; the 911 inside job operation with 3K Americans killed to justify the endless war on the ME and the construction of a police state here at home.  The Sandy Hoax ploy was used to try to justify executive action to take away our guns but instead the obvious exposed fraud going on in that laughable operation(even Robbie Parker was laughing!! the day after his daugher supposedly was shot to death so badly that he couldn't even bear to see the body) has been the wake up call for conservatives and libertarians.

The DC government's use of trolls and bots is increasing daily.  Some conversations appear to be entirely between trolls on newspaper comment sections.   DC is desperate to influence the public, but it's backfiring as Trump's popularity steadily increases.

Which FSA?

The ones getting welfare for food?  or the ones getting a below market rate for the land they range their cattle business on?

Government needs you to pay taxes's picture

Is the White Housenigger getting a below market rate on 1600 Penn Ave?  How about the taxes paid by the CIA @ their little clubhouse in Langley?  Federal land belongs to the citizens, not the Fedcoats.  Another important distinction here is that the ranchers WORK to make a living on that land.  Unlike some feral pavement ape in a housing project near Anacostia or the Inner Harbor.  That beef they raise?  We eat it.  If they pay more in rent, we pay more for the beef.  So consumers benefit from lower grazing fees, and it helps Americans make a living.  You could even take the Fedcoat view . . . those ranchers generate income, which generates taxes.  So it's a win all-around.  Dont get accidentally thrown down some stairs, by the way.

Do the ranchers talk about white house rental rate?

What about the free market?  Why are there some beef producers that you want to subsidize and others you want to penalize?

Now, they are just trying to get more subsidized below market welfare rates for their herd and you are too stupid to see it.

You hate the federal government so much that you are willing to be a stooge for every John Wayne dickhead that comes by and gets you to assist him in his welfare scheme.

Fucktard, look around you.  There is a .gov subsidy EVERYWHERE.  Every subsidy is arbitrary in some respect.  You are merely whining about this one.  My point is all subsidies are arbitrary, the Federal government has become increasingly lawless and tyrannical, and this rancher is just another example of why patriots MUST resist.

This is just another tyrannical (and arbitrary) application of Fedcoat force.  We're well past anyone thinking there is a rule of law in the land.

I hate tyranny, and I will stand for freedom.  All. The. Way.

"below market rate"

that's funny.

who else would lease the land if not ranchers?  the market rate is whatever the rancher's are willing to pay, because there are no other potential tenants.

market rate for western rangeland would be $00.0001/acre if the supply weren't artifically restricted by Fedguv.

Well the DC regime committed an act of treason against the original Federal Government in 1871.  The 24 square mile area or so of DC was created in 1871 by an act of Congress to install a corporate entity (actually incorporated in Delaware) to run the country using dictatorial unlimited powers, basically setting usurping the carefully contracted limited powers of the Federal government as had been agreed to by the states.

9/11 False Flag was Treason by Israeli-Neocons.

We keep forgetting that, somehow.

Israeli-Neocons cannot allow peace, they will hang.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/09/opinion/steve-israel-confessions-of-a-congressman.html?ref=opinion&_r=0 "The only hope for reform is to replace the majority that is stopping reform at every turn."

AIPAC, Israeli-Neocons and deepstate own the government. They use murder for political ends, Michael Hastings was a clear case of telling the media that they can't be disrespectfuf of the military (and possibly can't investigate 9/11).

There can be no end to this quest for world domination, beginning here at home, for Israeli-Neocons, they will lose power and hang.

Why do we keep waiting for more evidence?

Have you signed a 9/11 Truth petition?  Have you signed pledges to the first Presidential candidate who uses 9/11 Truth as a major part of their campaign, and told the rest they were going to hang?

Have you called your congressman and informed him how we are going to hang them all?

Why not?  It is way past time, they are preparing the gulags.  Oh, no, how extreme, can't believe it, some will say.  But nobody wanted to believe in the political murders around Clinton either, and those are rather un-mistakable now, all of the investigations that somehow never notice bullet holes on the wrong side of the head, a suicide that shoots himself in the side of the head, the suicide who cuts his wrist in a car, gets out and climbs over a barbed wire fence, bleeding profusely as he does so, walks a mile, and then is shot twice, no gun found, no investigation needed, little things like that.

Please do all that and tell the neighbors why you are going to start pounding on pots and pans at 9PM every night.
