In Latest Escalation, Oregon Militia Tears Down Government Fence, Demands Freedom For Ranchers
Last week, Ammon Bundy met Harney County Sheriff David Ward on the side of Lava Bed Road near Highway 78.

Ward was attempting to negotiate a peaceful end to the protracted standoff that began two Saturdays ago when Bundy and a handful of armed militiamen “seized” a remote bird sanctuary in Oregon.
Bundy and his followers decided to occupy the federal building as a show of solidarity with Dwight Hammond and his son Steven who were sent back to jail last week in connection with fires they set back in 2001 and 2006.
Bundy’s militia - who now call themselves the “Citizens for Constitutional Freedom” - say they are standing up for state’s rights in a kind of ad hoc, haphazard rekindling of the Sagebrush Rebellion.
Following the meeting with Ward, Bundy said he felt like the group’s demands were being ignored. The Sheriff agreed. "I don't feel like they think they're getting enough attention yet," Ward remarked.
Subsequently, armed members of the Pacific Patriots Network showed up at the refuge before being asked to leave by Bundy. That visit prompted a meeting between the group and the FBI.
Now, in the latest escalation, Bundy is tearing down a government fence and replacing it with a gate in a move the group says will give local ranchers access to federal land. Here's the incredibly dramatic footage:

Earlier today, Bundy insisted that the men will not be leaving the federal building until the Hammonds are set free.
At daily presser, Bundy focuses on the Hammonds and talks about the cattle fence they plan to take down. https://t.co/zbB6E9yEpr

So, there you have it. The first federal property has been destroyed and Bundy has doubled down on the Hammond freedom demands.
Perhaps this latest publicity stunt will prompt authorities to end the 10-day siege although we imagine Bundy will soon be forced to do something a bit more dramatic if he wants to recapture the interest of an American public whose attention span is two days at best.

The USPS is like Amtrak. It works OK, but it cant make a profit. Like the rest of the sinking ship USS Fedcoat Tyranny, the USPS is losing more and more money with each passing quarter, all while costing you more to mail your fruit cake to the family back home.
That one fruit cake has had more postage and traveled more miles than most Americans.
USPS rates could be tuned to make a profit - or better yet - just to break-even - but there's a crony interest in keeping it in the red. What othter outfit has to fund it's pensions like the USPS has to?
This is speculative. If it were run as a private company with good leadership, then yes, it could be profitable, based on its core strength of lane density (# of revenue-generating items delivered per stop). Even now, though, the USPS doesnt run as efficiently as UPS, which uses trains in lanes where the density warrants. To really compete in the express mail category, the USPS would have to invest 10s of billions in better tech and related infrastructure. Possible, yes, but rarely does .gov give something up until it is completely fucked up. Here are some of the biggest challenges:
(1) Their retirement plan is a taxpayer-funded dream for employees, nightmare for taxpayers. It's way out of line with private sector equivalents.
(2) Podunk towns across the nation cling to their post offices harder than a Muslim refugee on some Swedish tits in the public square. And then they get their politician involved.
(3) Their service isnt as good as FedEX or UPS.
(4) Their business mix skews down the less profitable 'junk-mails'
(5) There is a looming risk to all these business models (incl FDX and UPS) from Uber-ization. Imagine the individual who travels 3 times per week by car from Boston to Baltimore. With basic internet infrastructure and convenience/plentiful pick-up/drop off points, 70% (or more) of the mail that passes thru these carriers could fit into personal cars. Kind of like belly space in the commercial airlines, circa 1980, when Peter Rose was just getting EXPD off the ground.
$00.49/letter is plenty.
USPS runs in the red because of sky-high operating costs driven by public sector union wages+benefits.
i'm a supporter & customer of USPS, but let's not pretend that USPS is anything but a mediocre (at best) service that requires heavy subsidy to survive.
of course, the USPS looks like apple computer compared to the rest of fedgov, which is all anyone needs to know about big gov't vs. minimal gov't.
Hey
10 days old wanker.
Shut the fuck up.
What makes them kooks exactly? They are white males sick and tired of the freaking mountains of horse shit we have pumped down our throats and up our assholes every day? They dont think trannies are normal and trendy and worthy of "respect" or they think the federal government is a bloated monster that wants to decide how we wipe our asses and IF we wipe our asses? I guess it is kooky not to roll over like trained fat docile pig and expose one's underbelly for easy slaughter.
Do you like professional football?
10 fucking 4. BTW. World Defeated the Wrong Enemy.

Turns out sheriff Ward is ex BLM and actually testified against the Hammonds in the second trumped up trial prosecuted by the workplace-sex-stalker Obama-appointed psycho fed prosecutor chick.
no shit?
Totally cereal.

And the bit about the psycho sex stalker fed.gov prosecutor.
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/01/04/unbelievable-update-orego...
Also have to understand that since fed.gov has basically destroyed industry of any sort out there, a lot of the people in Eastern Oregon are on fed.gov assistance. Don't bite the hand that feeds and all that.
Ward was also appointed, not elected sheriff of Harney county.
Yeah, no shit...

Amon's plan, and word is he actually had one, no matter how bad it sucks, is forcing this info out and throwing fed corruption into the light.
But really the Feds have to realize if they initiate violence against the, so far, peaceful protestors, as they say, no more free Wacos.
Kooks they may be, but they're MY fuckin' kooks. I'm totally sympathetic to their cause. We're surrounded with BLM land that have all sorts of restrictions on their own...but also the continuous effort to expand those restrictions on surrounding property.
The Feds can go straight to hell on this.
You people on the east don't understand what is going on.
I can see your viewpoint. But you have got to look at it from a western viewpoint.
EVERY state in the west, from about Colorado westward has thousands of miles of 'federal land', on top of that we have hundreds of square miles of national parks, on top of that we have 'BLM Land' on top of that we have restricte access land, on top of that we have legitimate State Parks, County Parks, City Parks that locals declared.
Where I am I am surrounded by thousands of square miles of absolutely empty land. Much of it has public property assets. some private cliams dot the area, some of those are voluntarily open to public access...like gold claims. If you can get there, you're welcome to prospect on that private land.
That becomes hard to do when the fedcoats decide that a road to the claim is no longer public; or that the particular claim has some sort of detrimental effect on the nonexistent river/water flow. I'm in a fucking desert! We get rainfall that heavy in every thousand fucking years.
Yes, we do need management of our local deserts to allow prestine areas, yet still allow areas to tear shit up. And that is a local decision, NOT a federal decision. This is Commiefornia, we're the biggest fuckin' environmentalists in the world, even people like me go out to piss on the yard because "pee makes the desert green" (actual local quote...along with 'if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down'). Miffed and others will back me up on this bullshit.
Fuckin' Muir started us on this shit and we DO take it seriously...even hard assed conservatives. You don't shit in your yard, unless you've got a deep outhouse and you exactly know the depth of the caliche. We don't need Fienstien making landgrabs where she and her pussy-assed husband own everything exactly outside of the fedgrab, nor do we need fedcoats managing the land....we can do that pretty fucking well on our own.
Those back east, I've lived there, you have no idea of the scope, or the size, of the fedcoat borders here in the west. Imagine driving hundreds of miles through restricted lands where nothing can ever, Ever, EVER happen...something equivalent to between Roughly Barstow to Baker, or Baker to Mountain Pass, or Mountain Pass to the Nevada Line...that's roughly 150 miles on ONE side. It doesn't count the scope of what is claimed for Death Valley, or other FedGrabs.
Locals now are currently looking at a proposal to FedGrab land that will allow a few tiny areas to be publically used. I haven't looked at the details yet, but the range extends from Barstow to Big Bear to Joshua Tree. It's a state sized area.
This shit has continued my entire life, along with water right restrictions, land use restrictions, and air use restrictions. Seriously. You easterners have no idea how fed up we are with this shit.
All fine and dandy. However, you still didn't answer the fundamental question.
Why do you get to use that land as if it were yours?
The problem is you have a welfare queen mentality. It's yours because you live near it and you like free shit for fun and profit.
Ranch on your own god damned land if you can afford some. Otherwise, fuck off.
You're misunderstanding. There are minor fees to use the land for camping such...no problem with that, fees are used to keep things clean. What the issue is the constant expansion of boundaries and regulations imposed on neighboring, private lands.
Let me give you an example. A local mine used a county dirt road to access it's property. BLM took a stretch of land resulting from Feinstein's or Boxer's land grab (forget which witch). BLM then notified the mine that due to protected desert tortoise on the new BLM lands that the road passed through, trucks could go no faster than 5 miles per hour. You're talking a nearly ten mile road.
Even with that, from a truck, a torotise pretty much looks like a rock and it was inevitable that a one was crushed. The mine dutifully notified the BLM, the BLM slapped a $10,000 fine on them. And told the owners that any futher dead tortoises found would be a $25,000 fine each.
From then on, every truck carried a shovel.
They have also shut down active claims and mines by claiming existing roads and trails are now part of the BLM land. Hard to mine when you can't drive your equipment to it.
You are an idiot with a Guy Fawkes mask. Guy Fawkes was a Jesuit. You are an NWO stooge.
I disagree with the methods being used, however the media would've ignored anything other. They're basically ignoring it now. You sir are an utter idiot. People who live in New York City, Washington, or any other big city have no clue about the war that is being waged in the West.
A rancher in Wyoming has been billed $30 million for building a pond approved by the city, state, and county which up until about a year ago was all that was ever required. The federal government is out of control, anybody in business knows the regulations are asinine.

It's time to drone launch a few hell fire missiles, before the birds come back from warmer climates.
Another moron types in.
says the tuff guy that wants someone else to do his blood work.. wow I am impressed.
Why dont you go out there and rough them up your self ?
You small turd.
They have shot nobody. Nobody was at the facility when they took it over. There is nobody out there that could possibly be hurt. They have threatened no American citizen who isn't trying to kill them.
Anybody who wants to go out there next spring who does not try to kill them they will accept. They have not shot a single reporter, who are the propaganda piece for the government.
And yet you want to kill them, who exactly is violent here?
So the US government needs to launch a drone strike against them, they may be guilty in public opinion but what exact death penalty crime have they done?
Do you really want to live in America that decides life or death before the criminal trial?
What would Chelsea Clinton's father, Janet Reno, do ??
but I thought Webster Hubbell was her daddy...
I do find it curious that all this shit is going down precisely when the economy starts to collapse.
We are only a couple of coincidentally-timed sparks away from a full fledged wildfire. The tinder is already piled high in numerous ways.

BINGO ~ Exactly TY
Bundy is answering that age old question.
"What if you started a war and nobody showed up?"
+1 and the answer is... loot
no loot, no gain, no war
is that land valuable? coveted? needed by anyone except the birds?
war is all about loot. even if it's a subsidy, or a profitable deal. even if it's imaginary, but then it tends to be limited. loot as goal and loot as fuel
except for cattle raids. those are sport, and are way too much frowned upon. oh, and stealing brides is romantic. way too much fuss made about that. those gals love it, I tell you. ehm... where was I?
I've read there is natural gas and uranium on the Hammond property.
Bundy and the rest want the land to be free - until oil/mineral resources are discovered - then hey presto, its private property.
You tar tar
War is about loot AND turf.
Yeah, except if you follow the links provided by other readers, you'll find out that the BLM is trying to take their ranch by fining them $400,000, when no damage was done. They also forced them to give the BLM a preferential right to purchase their ranch, just in case they have to sell their ranch to pay the fine. And the BLM cancelled their grazing lease on the adjoining Federal land, thereby diminishing the value of the ranch. They have been dogging them over this since 2006 and the family has complied with every request the BLM made. Damn!
