Russian Stocks Are Crashing

Tyler Durden's picture

Down over 5%, Russia's RTS Index has plunged to its weakest level since Dec 2014 and the peak of its existential crisis mid-Ukraine/currency-crisis/oil-collapse. This is Russia's biggest one-day drop since April 2015. The Ruble continues to tumble (despite CNH strength) as oil pushes to new cycle lows...

Russian stocks are tumbling...

And The Ruble is heading back towards record lows against the USD...

Ruble's record intraday low of 79.1688 is just 2 handles away.

Which stock market isn't crashing nowadays?

Waiting for the end to come.

Waiting for the end to come
Wishing I had strength to stand
This is not what I had planned
It's out of my control

FCX is feeling that pain hard.

AbbeBrel's picture

Wow that is a face ripper on FCX - and the Chinese Elites are still worrying about saving their faces LOL.

Janet Shalom Bernanke's picture

The U.S. market is ripping higher 30 points (on the Dow).  Speaks to the stability and insulation from the rest of (reality) the world.

This is what I grew up on.

Brother will kill brother
Spilling blood across the land
Killing for religion
Something I don't understand

Fools like me, who cross the sea
And come to foreign lands
Ask the sheep, for their beliefs
Do you kill on God's command?

A country that's divided
Surely will not stand
My past erased, no more disgrace
No foolish naive stand

The end is near, it's crystal clear
Part of the master plan
Don't look now to Israel
It might be in your homelands

Who would have ever thought that cutting the price of an insignificant commodity like oil by 2/3 would have such a negative effect on the world economy?

E.F. Mutton's picture

But Yahoo Finance has an article this morning saying to keep 80% of your money in stocks.  They wouldn't lie would they?

where_is the_nuke's picture

Good. Now nationalize all the companies.

Let freedom reign and let the socialist billionaires die. No more handouts.

How about rebuilding America instead of shoveling money so the skimmers and churners can waste it.

True price discovery- now that would be a sight to see.

Let's get ready to Ruuuuble.

And the rubble is around 75-76----headed for the 80s livin' in the Wild Wild West!

Mandy's in the backroom handing out Valium
Sheriff's on the airwaves talking to the D.J.'s
Forty-seven heartbeats beating like a drum
Got to live it up live it up

Putin owns 60% of the Russian stock market, so why would this matter?

Captain of the sinking ship, the US markets always last to go down with it.  Have a nice trip :)

Russia's and China's economies are being attacked by the U.S. and U.K and E.U.

The three Us are murdering the entire Middle East. Europe is being over run by refugees.

It is just a matter of time before there is no more corner to be pushed back into.

The larger war is closer everyday.

Prepare yourself, Droogs.

Oh yeah?...

But can Wall Street handle this?!!!

And despite both Russian stocks and currency collapsing today - Russian ETFs are only flat??? Certainly this is the sign of a free market.

Meanwhile, Goldman is raving about USD20 a barrel and Reuters is crowing that Russia is expected to run out of the money saved during the oil boom in time for Hillary's coronation, at which time they presumably expect Vladimir Putin to turn himself in to the US embassy and whoever replaces him to sell Russia to Goldman for a dollar.

Whatever gets them through the night and helps them fiddle the rubes out of their money.

Long oil, Russia and Israel.

Short debt, socialism and Islam.

The GS crude call for 20 USD/b was a buy signal to me. Me no Muppet Bitches.

Russian reserves are holding up remarkably well:

Looks they are not supporting their currency anymore.  USD/RUB to 100.

Anymore since 2 February 2015. Moreover, the Russian central bank played against the ruble in May - July 2015 to not allow the ruble to be stronger than 50:1.

The ruble will go down with oil, they need to get the same amount of rubles in exchange for fewer oil dollars.

Anybody notice the flash-crash in the Philippine stock market?  At least it LOOKED like a flash-crash to me.

12357111317's picture

When they say, "the Russian stock market", does that mean companies Russians own, or companies IN Russia the European Central Bankers still own?

zeroboris's picture

Companies which papers are being traded on Moscow Exchange

12357111317's picture

Thanks. So, many of those companies could be owned, or mostly owned, by financiers outside Russia.  If so, perhaps the Russian people will not be hurt so badly if those companies' stock prices decline.

robertocarlos's picture

It's too bad the Russian mobsters, especially those Chechen fucks, don't suffer.

This whole collapse has been engineered. The Jaws of Death Pattern has started. The FEDS working group won't put Humpty Dumpty back together again this time.
