US Equities' Overnight Bounce Is Biggest January Surge Since 2005

Tyler Durden's picture

What goes down, must bounce dramatically higher... and all because PBOC squeezes Yuan short-sellers and unsustainably "stabilizes" outflows with 'temporary' capital controls...

This is the strongest post-midnight rally for a January since 2005...

How about a trajectoy of ZH headlines since 2013?  I'm guessing on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the low side of "bad news", that the headlines are hoveing straight down at 4.5.

Massive layoffs, currency collapses, spiking violence everywhere, etc.  This is the end.

Stocks are rallying... which means a good opportuninty to buy another 2018 put option on Facebook...

Who is going to pay around 100 dollar for one stock which has een EPS of around 1 dollar and that pays no dividens? In case the market value of the stock declines, how are they going to compensate me for this loss.

Altough, the stock has a value of around 100 dollar, the stock needs to be sold in order to realise the current value. In case there signifcantly less buyers, than sellers we are going to see a sharp decline in the price.

TODAY'S STOCK MARKETS:
Helium was up, feathers were down. Paper was stationery. Fluorescent tubing was dimmed in light trading. Knives were up sharply. Cows steered into a bull market. Pencils lost a few points. Hiking equipment was trailing. Lifts rose, while escalators continued their slow decline. Weights were up in heavy trading. Light switches were off. Mining equipment hit rock bottom. Nappies remain unchanged. Shipping lines stayed at an even keel. The market for raisins dried up. Coca Cola fizzled. Caterpillar stock inched up a bit. Sun peaked at midday. Balloon prices were inflated. And batteries exploded in an attempt to recharge the market.

With each of these PPT rallies and currency manipulations, it becomes increasingly clear that oil is a proxy currency for equities, and gold (even the diluted GLD) is in kryptonite-like negative correlation.

The Reuters articles on "the yellow metal" are ridiculously biased - their fear is palpable.

There will be more cycles of intense gyration, but the outcome is inevitable and will not be pleasant.
