This Is What Happens When Every German Googles "Pepper Spray"
Back in November, we remarked that despite occasional videos of angry Germans protesting at what has become the biggest "foreign invasion" of Europe since World War II, the German popular response to the wave of migrants, which is now expected to top 1 million in 2015 has been relatively calm.
"Fear (and anger), however, are building beneath the otherwise calm surface," we warned.
How did we know that? Because as we proceeded to report, Germany had run out of pepper spray after a 600% increase in sales. "There is fear" explained Kai Prase, managing director of DEF-TEC Defense Technology GmbH in Frankfurt, one of the major producers of repellents. "For the past six to seven weeks we have been practically sold out."
That was before Paris.
And before Hannover.
And before Cologne.
In the wake of the wave of sexual assaults which occurred across the bloc on New Year's Eve (most notably in Germany), we decided to check up on the pepper spray situation and sure enough, Germans are even more frightened than before.
How do we know this time around? Because according to FAZ, Germans are Googling "pepper spray" like there's no tomorrow:
Then again, while mace may be effective as a groper-be-gone defense tactic, it's little help against a Kalashnikov.

For me, a Kimber Crimson Carry II 1911 and a CZ 75 Compact as backup, love them both. CZ makes some very accurate weapons, I have a CZ bolt gun in 06 that does a 100yd dime group consistantly with factory loads.
The doc down the street carries a Kimber Ultra Carry .45 and says he loves it. Carries it when he goe sin to the hopsital in th emiddle of the night.
Makes sense. He sees alot of nasty victims. I guess he doesn't want to be one of them.

.357? Watch too much Dirty Harry? .45? You must be a guy who shoots a lot, or ex-Mil. Anything over a 9 mm is kinda dumb for these reasons:
1. It is shot placement that matters more than caliber.
2. For multiple shots (at multiple targets), low recoil and fast target acquisition is key -- especially for women and all amateurs
3. Ballistics tests have shown time and again that a 9 mm is just as good as 0.40 for penetration and damage into Ballistics Gel.
4. Americans especially, are indoctrinated to have larger calibers. You know why? Because the bullets cost more. Hat-tip to American ammo salesmen.
What brand of 9 mm? Any German, Austrian or Czech brand that's priced right for your budget and personal needs of concealment. Heck, even the renowned American gun-maker Springfield has its 9 mm guns made in Croatia. Which is just down the road for Germans.
1 .357 and .45 are easier to shoot accurately on the first shot than a 9mm. The .357 flies way flatter, and the .45 recoil is nearly nothing in comparison.
2 .45 is the easiest to shoot, the round is big heavy and slow, and the recoil is a gently push compared to a 9mm snap.
3 the 9mm tends to over-pen, that is why they chose the .40, because it tends to dump all it's energy into the target due to the round's size.
4 Not exactly, it had more to do with the high-capacity magazines having been banned for over a decade, in which time the .45 1911 gained popularity due to the magazine restrictions and thus more stopping power was preferable per each round.
Sorry but NO on your comparison of 9mm and .45.
I shoot both and the 9mm is very gentle when compared to the .45
Having said that, I shoot the .45. Much more because I like the power of a big round and reload so cost of ammo is not an issue.
The only two cartridges that I have firearms for that I haven't actually killed an animal with are 45-70 and 38S&W. The difference in tissue damage between a 357 mag and a 9mm is astounding. It is no contest. A 357 mag has more wounding mechanisms than just penetration. A shot to the chest can actually cause hemoraging in the brain.
Besides, after shooting .270 and .308 pistols, anything smaller than a 460 Rem is easy to handle, and even those aren't too bad.

Why knock what anyone choses to own/carry. I like my Kimber Compact 1911 in .45 best because of my own reasons even though the CZ75 compact in a 9 is an awesome gun. Both conceal well and alternate depending on what I'm wearing as it gets hot as hell here in TX in the summer.
I personally won't own a glock or any of it's wannabes for my own reasons but if that's what someone chooses then more to them, at least they understand that carrying a gun is their right as a human being to protect themselves and are not trying to take away my rights.

Why are you set on a .40?.Feds are going away from them,the recoil timing is a bitch,and they will break something faster than any other Glock I have seen.( all your getting is a .40 cal bulet,a and 15rds, not a 10mm.)
Stick with a 9mm, and 17 rds, or pick up a 33rd mag for it.(and get the REALLY good ammo).
Not a .40S&W. In this case, 40 is the model number. It's basically a Glock 20 with a longer barrel. A Glock 40 is chambered in 10mm auto. Like I say, the smallest semi-auto that I'll carry is a 357 SIG.

The new Walther's have some sweet triggers. I shoot USPSA with a guy who has one, it's as close to an aftermarket trigger as you can get on a production gun. Even the guys with the full-on race guns were impressed.

A small can of aerosol bug spray also works in a pinch. Hairspray is not as effective.
Maybe if you light it with match, but I doubt it does much to stop them.
I think you are right. Maybe the wasp insect spray is more effective. The commercial ones are the best. Kimber makes a top notch one I carry along with my cc.

Go to the auto parts store and get a can of brake cleaner. Lets just say it will "clean the soul". While you are there, get some starting fluid too. Anesthetic in a can.
pepper foam or gel is a slight improvement. Foam/Gel hits the target better and no wind blow-back.
