This Is What Happens When Every German Googles "Pepper Spray"

Tyler Durden's picture

Back in November, we remarked that despite occasional videos of angry Germans protesting at what has become the biggest "foreign invasion" of Europe since World War II, the German popular response to the wave of migrants, which is now expected to top 1 million in 2015 has been relatively calm.

"Fear (and anger), however, are building beneath the otherwise calm surface," we warned.

How did we know that? Because as we proceeded to report, Germany had run out of pepper spray after a 600% increase in sales. "There is fear" explained Kai Prase, managing director of DEF-TEC Defense Technology GmbH in Frankfurt, one of the major producers of repellents. "For the past six to seven weeks we have been practically sold out."

That was before Paris.

And before Hannover.

And before Cologne.

In the wake of the wave of sexual assaults which occurred across the bloc on New Year's Eve (most notably in Germany), we decided to check up on the pepper spray situation and sure enough, Germans are even more frightened than before.

How do we know this time around? Because according to FAZ, Germans are Googling "pepper spray" like there's no tomorrow:

Then again, while mace may be effective as a groper-be-gone defense tactic, it's little help against a Kalashnikov.

Hairspray plus cigarette lighter = minor annoyance.

Auto Starting Fluid plus cigarette lighter = flamethrower

1 foot flame vs 5 or 6 foot flame.

Um....they were carefully set up for WW1 and WW2 by design in order to break their spirit and wipe out their alpha males....what do you think America would look like if you wiped out 2 consecutive generations of men, usually your bravest and strongest and then we were an occupied nation for 75 years by the British or Russians....

It's called careful pacification....and it's coming here to the good ole USA...

Bad theory. The Russians did not play this PC pussification game and many in East Germany are likely an offspring from conquering Soviet soldiers.

Maybe West Germany got pussified, but East certainly did not.

@ Syrin

After the last big war any German civilian that was alive after the massive allied terror bombing was sent to re-thinkatoriums by non other than the benevolent Dwight Eisenhower. They also were an occupied nation and still are to this day. With the Zio myth makers in never ending propaganda mode since the end of the war until the present Germans have been programed to accept the "guilt" of past generations. It's truly pathetic, but in Germany one can go to jail today for publicly denying holocaust claims.

You need to think SYSTEM-level solutions.  Most Americans are brainwashed and raised to think in terms of 1 or 2 variables, in terms of The single solution, or The hero.  What primitive claptrap!

The reality is, that most EU women will NOT buy or use a handgun, no matter what you guys say.  They will opt for other tactical solutions.  Fine, why blow against the wind?  But, as long as they do opt for Soft Arms, then we might as well advise them what combo of defense tools they could use:

1. Pepper Spray, 2. Tactical Flashlight (attacked at night-time, remember), 3. Small/Emergency/EDC Knife, 4. Air-Horn or Loud Whistle, 5. Tactical Pen

Use them in whatever combo seems appropriate, bearing in mind that you/she will want to defend long long enough to either escape or for help to arrive.

There are plenty of Youtube videos around, that show how to use these things in combo -- especially the Flashlight and Weapon (Fist, Boot, Tactical Pen, Knife, Airhorn) combo.

Even though we live in a very safe Zip code, my high school daughter and her friends play it smart, and practice how to use these items in combo.  Alone and as a tactical group.  As a group, they are downright scary, at how clever they are in their tactics (e.g. swarm counter-attack).  Plus they all have cell phones.

More and more Europeans are finding out the hard way why they need the 2nd amendment there too.  Hopefully, they are also learning that it is their form of government (big brother knows best) which is retrograde and not the American model of government (we the people).

how do you test your theories? are you sure you aren't just projecting your issues on others?

your "American model of government (we the people)" was set in the 18th Century, wasn't it? France, just to take an example, is already at the Fifth Republic since then

guys, I hear from you about the constitution, the constitution and more about the constitution. meaning, of course, the US Constitution. fine thing, currently version 1.27

have you ever read any european constitution? you know, just to compare and sneer down your noses? since you had yours, we had revolutions, and more revolutions, and more of them...

You just made his point for him.

How old is the US Government at his point & time?

1789.

Next oldest government in Europe ...

You can sneer down your nose at the Second Amendment all you want, it is THE reason our government hasn't gone full authoritarian, while ... well ... how many different "governments" have just the French had since 1789?

Thats what I thought ...

PS I am quite familiar with European Constitutions, such as the German one, the English non-written constitution, the Greek constitution as well as the Portuguese constitution.

did you just take my argument, i.e. that the US Constitution is very old, and then twist it like a bretzel and suddently talking about governments, and then writing further inanities?

make. one. logical. argument. kiddo. to someone else, then I have to go

Not exactly: outdated refers to the object's age or contemporaneousness, obsolete refers to the object's (non)function.

Example: while you still might be using your outdated (old, not modern) gadget - say your grandfather's razor blade, your newly bought Mach5 is obsolete because it has no practical use.

Ghordo, you aren't that much different than your ice age ancestors were 15,000 years ago in terms of biology and psychology.  You just have access to way cooler tools.  Bringing up 18th century rules and expecting them to be outdated for the sole reason that they were made in the 18th century is fallacious.

I've got news for you.  Not everybody is nice, but sometimes it's nice to be armed.  I'll bet you that hasn't changed much in 15,000 years.

ah, one intelligent comment in the crowd, well done, El Vaquero

first, I have noted that it is old, not outdated. in fact, I even called it version 1.27

second, the whole matter was a gentle nudge to the readers to the fact that most of them know only one constitution. shy of comparisons, yours?

third, something I might want to expand upon eventually, I question how easily most people here limit their love to their constitution to the 2nd Amendment...

... and wish to foster it to the whole world. I guess it's a kind of love, but is it required love?

fourth... here, it's the "teeming shores" of the Colossus poems. do we need here rules that were made for a 18th Century nearly empty new world?

fifth... do we really need to adopt your rules? is it really that important for you that we behave... like you? if yes, why?

I think all this gentle approach is wasted, though, perhaps I'll write it next time in less gentle terms

Unfortunately in Europe well meaning politicians have convinced the citizens to abrogate their responsibility for their own protection wholly to the state.

The 80 or so men, women and children in the Bataclan learned the folly of that idea, sadly the majority of the millions outside still seem to have ignored that lesson history gave us.

HT- Personally, I have no interest in carrying around an AK or the H&K you linked to, not really my thing(nothing against those of you who want to carry around a long gun all day, I fully support your right to do so, just not something I am interested in doing) What do you have to go through to be able to carry a handgun with you?

And thats pretty crazy that a Remington 700 is that expensive. They cost 500 equiped like that at several places near my house

According to German weapons laws, if you want to carry it on you, and you aren't part of a private security force, the police you need an approval with specific credible threats to you or your family's life.

Its essentially New York gun laws nation wide for concealed carry.

Wow, that sucks. I'm guessing that "refugees keep assaulting and raping women in my area" probably doesn't count as a "credible threat to your life" especially considering the highly charged political environment. If they gave somone a permit with that line of reasoning, everyone would do it.

Are off duty cops in germany allowed to carry their weapons while in civilian attire and keep their guns at their house there? Thats something thats always really bothered me about gun rights. Special government employees get to own/carry essentially anything they want, but the average person is stuck with pepper spray or a tazer
