No, I will be the first to admit that I won't be doing that. But there are enough people out there that will to ensure that turns into a bloodbath in a hurry. They are going to have a lot of trouble getting people to do it, too. My sheriff has already said neither he nor anyone else in his county will be enforcing any of this nonsense, so it will have to be fed agents who do it, over the objections, and possibly resistance, of local LE. Enough people will start shooting through that door that it will be increasingly difficult to get agents to put their lives on the line depriving people of their 2nd amendments rights. Knowing that there is a decent chance you won't be coming home will put a amper on their enthusiasm and numbers pretty quick.

The wars in the ME aren't being fought to win; I thought that was apparent. When putting down rebellion in the US it will be full-on and relentless and there's another difference: those cavemen in the middle east have some actual skills and are used to privation. In the US it'll be the armed might of the military (who we have to assume will follow orders) against fat office workers with hunting rifles.
There's another difference: those folks in the ME have the broad support of the general population. That's a bigger deal than you think, and it won't happen here. For one thing the US is way to ethnically, culturally, ideologically, and politically divided for that. This of course is by design. Divide and conquer, y'know? Even if that wasn't the case, nobody in the US can eat if the trucks aren't running and any serious insurrection would cause supply line disruption. Christ, i live in farm country and most farmers don't even really grow shit they can eat. It all comes from the grocery store. Nobody is going to support your cause because they're too dependant on the system continuing to work. Even most of your so-called "patriots" are probably in the same boat, actually.

Perhaps in a one off situation (this happens daily when they go after various criminals). i disagree. judging from the intense fear dorner created in the leo communty i don't think it would take much for leo to stand down. the appearance of organized armed militia in oregon has quited the situation. despite wht you may be led to believe i think there will be a lot of difficulty for americans to shoot fellow americans if there is enough potential civilian participation in a cause.

Why so many down votes? When TSHTF, most people will not be able to protect their homes and property from militarized police/government agents/jack booted thugs or whatever you want to call them. They are too weaponized/protected/organized/numerous.
The reality is you will have to flee, and hope that you can mount a guerilla type war against the government.
But even there, less than 50% of guerilla wars are successful.
Right. When the roving gangs with badges and uniforms come to your town get out and expect to never return. Trying to shoot it out is quite possibly the dumbest idea I can think of. Truly scary are the ones above who say they'll encourage their kids to participate in the shootout. If they start going door to door, once we figure it out, it won't be the guy who is getting raided that will shoot them. There are over 300 million guns in the US, many of which the government has no record of who owns them. That's enough to give every single active duty military, reserve military and paramilitary person IN THE WORLD 5 firearms each. The logistics of confiscating them is impossible. When CT passed its "assault" rifle registration law, something like 350,000 went unregistered and CT had a law that it could not enforce on its hands, hurting the authority of the state. That's enough to arm the combat troops in the USMC, and then some, and that's only little 'ole CT. I guarantee if SWAT teams start going door to door over that, the call will go out saying "Hey, they're raiding Bob's place for his AR," and then the SWAT team is going to get surrounded by people with shit that will go right through their body armor.

Other little known facts:
There are only around 800k sworn police officers (state and local) in the US. There are only about 120k federal officers in the US. Add up all LEO, military and paramilitary personnel and you're talking maybe 1% of the population, and not all of them would be willing to go door to door.

I am a democrat. Or I was. I'm not sure what I am now. For a long time I was anti-gun and argued on that side. In the last few years, I have awakened to the evil of America. The Country I have always loved and defended. I am sickened at what I see when I look out the "window" into reality.
True, fighting against overwhelming odds is certainly an insane thing to do. But that is where we are in America now. Hopefully we will have enough people that would rather die than give up their guns. I am one of those. And yes, when we are talking about life and death and "give me liberty or give me death", people will do crazy things.

Rights are from, in my case, natures god considering I am an atheist. Meaning they are natural rights. For believers they are from god. But either way the point is these rights cannot be taken by men arbitrarily. Or voted away. Or wished away. Or misunderstood away. This goes for all the enumerated bill of rights. Yes they get trampled on. They get eroded. They must be protected and the order of these rights as identified by founding fathers, is no accident. Which is why the second amendment is the right to bare arms protecting the rest of our natural rights. It's disturbing how many people do not understand these basic principles. The bill of rights are only rights if they are recognized as such and protected. They must be understood as natural or god given rights that cannot be stripped from us or they eventually will disappear.
