How to report offensive comments
The Lautenberg Amendment and the Violence Against Women Act are being used now as back-door gun control. In my county in California, they have a policy of arresting someone at the scene of any domestic disturbance and jailing them on charges. The DA here also prosecutes 100% of all those arrested (they do take pleas). If you yell at your kids too loud and a neighbor turns you in, the cops show up and if you admit to yelling at the kids, you go to jail. You get in an argument with your wife and throw the TV remote at the wall and she calls the cops, you will be arrested and charged. Most of the time the charge is misdemeanor domestic violence. If you take a plea, even to domestic battery, your gun rights are gone forever.
Look it up. Prosecutions for DV have gone up 400% in my county in the last 10 years and the person arrested nearly always takes a deal that results in the loss of gun rights (no chance to restore them). This is coming to your county soon. After all, who would want abusers to own guns, right?

b/c there will come a day when govt in its current form will break down (we probably came a lot closer in 08/09 than people realize). I don't want it to happen, I'm not trying to bring it about (quote contrary - I've done pretty well under "the system"), I just recognize that for a myriad of reasons we're on a trajectory that doesn't end well... when that day comes (which I hope it doesn't & am in no way trying to bring about) I don't want to be father/husband w/a pointed stick.
I would (can not emphasize enough how) MUCH rather YOU (govt) get your sh1+ together, weed out corruption, deal w/the real big ticket issues facing society, etc but until I see something resembling evidence of this I'll maintain a "plan b" capability...

Good grief, man! The NRA has been doing outreach for many years. You have to do some research to discover the resources they offer. If, for instance, you want a CCW, they are an excellent place to start the process. They sponsor many local courses and set the standards of instruction. I suspect you are a newbie in this realm.
I know. Thing is, though, if you're going to have more guns, you'll need even more outreach. Because if you liberalized gun ownerhip and there were a lot of accidents and misunderstandings, the liberalization wouldn't look so good.

It's been a long time since grassroots regime change was possible by a few good men with guns. Even by 1860 the good guys were hopelessly outgunned. And the firepower of the bad guys has only gotten more destructive. It took General Sherman several weeks to pacify just the state of Georgia, done by burning most of it to the ground. Today it would take minutes at most to pacify a state dumb enough to try to secede, and see to it it stayed pacified.

Left to their own devices, without a sugar daddy in Washington or Riyadh, the good guys might be able to hold out for a while. Not forever though. With no country willing to recognize their right to self-determination, Rhodesians held out for 15 years before throwing in the towel. The last anti-communist militias in the eastern bloc were liquidated in the early 1960's. The Confederacy, without the European aid it had hoped for, only lasted four years.
None of this is to say you don't want a gun and ammo for it, mind you. You might need it to send your loved ones to heaven ahead of you, sparing them whatever horrifying fate our masters have in store for them, and making sure they die free rather than live as slaves.
Just make sure you save the last round for yourself.
The class war started a long time ago. We're losing. I don't know what will turn the tide. Throwing money away on toys that go bang can't be it, or they would have been banned long before now.

BTW the situations I posited up thread were hypothetical. I don't think a serious attempt is going to be made to confiscate guns. Know why? Because theyre not afraid of our guns.

What government enforced program has EVER been succesful? The government can't seem to do anything right. We trust them to regulate deadly weaponry? And of course they'd be exempt as agents of the government.
People on the left live in the world of theories. Sure, in theory, it would be nice to have a happy go lucky society where there are no guns. It's nice to imagine that if someone passes a law banning guns, poof! The guns disappear! This is the thought process many of these people have.
The reality is there are more guns than people in America. If you really want to empower gangs, both government and criminal, the line is blurry, outlaw guns. Mexico has some of the strictest gun control in the world. US agents aren't even allowed to carry weapons down there. It's a big part of the reason why, I imagine, the US is not more involved in battling these drug cartels. If there's anybody the USA should be at war with, it is the Mexican gangs. They are in our backyard, literally, and if Mexico were to succeed, the US would more than be paid back by not having people flooding across our border.
Oh, and the wall does sound good too. I read Trump's book. He has it all planned out, the wall that is. Only about 1800 miles need to be scured. The rest is dangerous desert area where most people die crossing.
Trumps "Wall"... that Mexico is going to pay for. Hey, I got a bridge to sell you sheeple.
