The Aftermath Of US Intervention: What The "Arab Spring" Looks Like 5 Years Later
If you needed a crash course in how not to conduct foreign policy, you need only take a cursory glance at Washington’s trials and travails in the Mid-East over the last decade.
On the way to documenting the the carnage unfolding in Libya’s oil crescent last week we said that the country, much like Syria, is a case study in why the West would be better off not intervening in the affairs of sovereign states on the way to bringing about regime change. “Toppling dictators” sounds good in principle, but at the end of the day, it’s nearly impossible to predict what will emerge from the power vacuums the US creates when Washington destabilizes governments.
Post-Baathist Iraq is rife with sectarian discord, a post-Assad Syria would likely be an even bloodier free-for-all than it already is, and post-Gaddafi Libya is a failed state with two governments each claiming legitimacy. These types of environments are exploitable by extremists eager to capitalize on the chaos by seizing resources and, ultimately, power.
It’s in that context that we present the following graphic from The Economist which vividly demonstrates the fact that the Arab Spring was but a false dawn and that five years on, we still have but one democracy among a sea of autocracies and failed states.
By the way, the one “democracy” success story in Tunisia is exceptionally tenuous as evidenced by November's suicide attack in the capital.

all of this states are failed states thanks to muhhamad they are still challenging the 7th centry. after challenging the 7th cenrty for over 1400 years they came to the conclusion to ask the europeans to become one with the challange. and all european leaders had to admit that sandniggers are equal because all shitskins own iphones now. they call them gentile giants of the jail. all of them are great lovers. i always was conflicted with the the fact they can love anyone. but a miracle occured, no one has seen this coming: new years rapes. they not only proved that they are intrested in woman, they even showed whole europe and the world how to love a woman properly. and not only that, the merciful islam gives every woman a right place to be in: a kitchen under a burka. and if a woman dares to talk before asking for permission, she will be smacked into the ground.now thats some kind love if you ask me.
and israel dared to destroy one of this 7th centry magnificant places.
there is only one question left. why christians ond others did not destroy whole saudia arabia?
dont be jelous of jews now. you had your chance (and you still have it)
i have a dream of whole saudi arabia and peninsula becoming 0% muslim
Funny how Hillary emails make no mention of any Arab springs, just a feeble Israeli spring that didn't happen

Mission accomplished, then.
Kind of like South Africa and Rhodesia after the darkies took over (with a little help from their friends.)
Bingo.
Incidentally, Israel was one of the few genuine allies South Africa and Rhodesia ever had. Since southern Africa was surrendered to the savages, Israel has redoubled her efforts to avoid a similar fate---gradually weaning Israel's economy off cheap Arab labour, for example, and making sure the savages stay in their homelands and not cause mischief in the civilized part of the country.
Power is guns in the ME and oil buys guns, the economy is oil and the people have guns
.
the markets are where they vote where to eat and murder their enemy's
.
there is alot of oil
.
the Arab spring was a very large change for the region, Syria/Iraq is likely the best indicator for that change "relatively weaker centralized governments"
.
stronger regional powers
Yeah but the Oval Officer said everthing was fine.
On an interesting side note...
http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2016/01/al-jazeera-america-i...
News of the channel’s closure was announced to workers at an unscheduled staff meeting on Wednesday. Al Jazeera America, the U.S. arm of the pan-Arab Arabic-language network financed by the government of Qatar, began broadcasting in the U.S. in 2013, after its parent company paid Al Gore and his partners $500 million for Current TV.
CNN reported that as many as 700 staffers will lose their jobs as a result.
Despite its attempt to provide what it saw as sober current-affairs programming in a sea of often-rancorous cable news channels, and winning some top awards in journalism, Al Jazeera America was unable to build an audience—it reached about 60 million households, compared to 100 million for other cable broadcasters—or draw advertisers. And while the Qatari royal family financed the network, the precipitous decline in the price of oil has affected that country’s economy and, presumably, its ability to endlessly finance the U.S. operation.
Standard Disclaimer: I hate it when manbearpig wins.
Russia has suffered from the oil slump too, but RT is doing just fine.
RT's secret is that it broadcasts news.
Blaming Israel for everything that's wrong with the world and making excuses for every murderer with a Koran isn't news---and there was plenty of that shit on western "news" networks already.
As I see it Tora and Koran are cousins or mabe siblings.
Really? I did not see that on RT.
I see RT is often promoting Russian Jews who were against Soviet Union. Making them into some kind heroes.
One of the creators of RT is Lesin. Go and check up who he is. His mother was a Jew and he himself declared as interested in the following Jewish news. He was a Minister of Press under Yeltsin and Putin too. and finally moved his whole family to US.
Where on earth you saw RT talk bad about Jews?
The impression I get from RT is that they are very careful but do not ignore explaining/discussing news issues critical of Israel. That makes them different to most other MSM news channels who always present the news thru the lens of Israel, particularly Sky News UK headed up by John Ryley who has turned Sky from a distinct news channel into a State propaganda news channel during his tenure.
In the UK, if RT overtly criticised Israel or jews in a way that could be construed as anti-Israel, they would very soon lose their licence issued by the "independent.gov.controlled.Ofcom.regulator" (itself a contradiction in terms if ever there was one).
What if the hidden world leaders are smarter than we think, and their intention was to make the mid east so messed up that they could not unite into a united political affiliation able to control oil. If so, they have achived their goal.
You are quite right. The writings are on the wall. US Leaders know that their easy QE have created a large glut in Oil. They need to stop some of the oil. They started with Iran sanctions. But screwed themselves as they Iran continued to pump and sell.
Next were other oil producers. Iraq, Libya, and even the smaller Syria.
But Russia stepped in and conitnued pumping even more than Saudi Arabia.
The US was trying to sell oil in higher value US dollars, and buying high priced Saudi Oil with Higher value US dollars, based on existing long term contracts. While other oil producers were quietly selling at their own oil at much lower price calculated based on their cost of production based on the lower value local currencies.
US was confused and withdraw all Oil investments and banned oil equipment sales to Russia hoping to stop or reduce the oil production in Russia. But Russia continued its big time production.
Thus the world was buying cheaper oil from Iran, Russia and others long before Saudi stepped in to reduce its artificially inflated oil price in US dollars.
I know of a Turkey National Company which bought Crude from Iran at $6 below Dubai market and sold to Indonesia.
One would think US leaders, if they are really smart, would try to make a deal with Russia
As others have mentioned, what apparently seems like a gross case of negligence and incompetence can be nothing further from the truth. Eradicating Israel's enemies is precisely The PLAN.
Seems they are increasing the number of enemies of Israel.
And news within Israel is that the number of muslim arabs are on schedule to become majority as number of Arab Jews and Russian and other imported Jews are on the decline.
No wonder Israel cannot be a true democracy and need to be explicitly stated as Jewish Nation or it will soon be No Nation.
Funny thing the US instigated most of these troubles, yet Europe is copping all of the negative consequences.
Is it all a plot to weaken Europe?
mission accomplished...
