In Latest Embarrassment For Obama, Iran Releases Footage Of Arrest, Apology Of 10 U.S. Sailors

Tyler Durden's picture

With just hours to go before Obama's last State of the Union address, the US president suffered his latest foreign policy fiasco when around noon local time, Iran arrested 10 US sailors in a boat that has allegedly entered deep into Iranian territorial waters.

Needless to say, there was no mention of this in Obama's address and the scandal was quietly swept under the rug when the 9 young men and 1 woman were released earlier today, and all questions just why the soldiers were released only well after the SOTU's conclusion (were they a hostage bargaining chip in case Obama said something out untoward last night regarding Iran) were soundly ignored.

However, while there may have been some doubt as to Iran's intentions yesterday, all doubt was eliminated moments ago when Iran's state broadcaster just released photos not just of the 10 captured soldiers, which were shown earlier, but of their arrest as well as the seizure of the boat and their weapons.

Here is the just released TV footage, courtesy of Sobhan Hassanvand:

Here is a video of the US Commander apologizing (via Fox):

And here are excerpted photos, showing US sailors being treated as common Somali pirates:

Finally, putting Iran's aggression in context:

Bring back the draft and require (world wide) that military service cannot begin until after 40.

Kids are young and dumb.  40+ is long enough to figure out that you really don't want to die for Hussein.

Love how it is Obama's fault. He really needs to meet with every sailor and show them how drive a boat. Commander in Chief he is responsible.... HA!

Milton:

"

Farewell remorse! All good to me is lost; Evil, be thou my Good: by thee at least         110 Divided empire with Heaven’s King I hold, By thee, and more than half perhaps will reign; As Man ere long, and this new World, shall know.”   Thus while he spake, each passion dimmed his face, Thrice changed with pale—ire, envy, and despair;         115 Which marred his borrowed visage, and betrayed Him counterfeit, if any eye beheld: For Heavenly minds from such distempers foul Are ever clear. Whereof he soon aware Each perturbation smoothed with outward calm,         120 Artificer of fraud; and was the first That practised falsehood under saintly shew, Deep malice to conceal, couched with revenge: Yet not enough had practised to deceive Uriel, once warned; whose eye pursued him down         125 The way he went, and on the Assyrian mount Saw him disfigured, more than could befall Spirit of happy sort: his gestures fierce He marked and mad demeanour, then alone, As he supposed, all unobserved, unseen.

Those boats were probably decoys used to get the Iranian military attention while the *real* boat with turban-wearing rebel rousers/kidnappers/fill-in-the-blank cruised by unnoticed.

Don't spend so much drivel obsessing over the boats -

Look at the crews - how they are dressed, body language ...

Do not see any Regular Navy - just special operations people.  Look, Observe, Conclude ... a dark blue boat is hard to see at night; in daylight, not so much.

She may be the Captain of the green boat that was sent out to tow the black night-ops boat home.  The SEALs that were likely on the black boat would be long gone before any Iranians show up.

the boats are a give away. the USN has only six of them and they belong to these guys. they have a dettachment in bahrain, and seem to opperate as the USN's version of a sealane popo. just grunts. driving up and down the shipping channel and got lost. no story. just stupidity.

That now makes perfect sense.  One boat (dark one) inserts SEALS on that island and pretends to be broken down so the regular boat tries to go tow it.

Would explain why there is not two full crews (think they are crewed by 10) and why there are two color schemes.

Because painting police boats camouflage and flat black to work a busy commercial sea lane makes so much sense.

Maybe we should paint all the bright orange Coast Guard helicopters flat black or camo, too.

dude. i usally respect your stuff. but this is nuts. i didn't say they are smart, as in, "hey, we should use a safety color" sort of smart. it is simple, though. follow the boats.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CB90-class_fast_assault_craft (USN has six, known as riverine command boats)

they belong to these guys: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_Expeditionary_Combat_Command

which commands this group: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coastal_Riverine_Force (which, you'll note, has "a forward deployed detachment in bahrain")

and they do "offshore protection for...milatary sealift command ships operating in coastal waterways".

so, again, they are just naval popo. and, not unlike their domestic neighborhood patrol officer, they've decided that tactical paint looks cooler. just standard-issue military big-muscle small-brain crap.

and, if that weren't enough, their webpage has a picture of one of the six boats...http://www.public.navy.mil/necc/crg2/Pages/default.aspx

Talk to a few vets. You'll realize the SEALs often use submarines and aircraft, obviously from other units, as well as boats.  Why leave a calling card, when something breaks?

in a word, yes, that is nuts. there are entire organizations of our empire's military which focus on special operations transportation (they trace their history, ironically enough, back to the iran hostage crisis). the USN's version, which opperates small boats in coastal and river waters, is known as SWCC. there is no way a really capable super soldier is going to trust this pack of fools with his transport in to a danger zone. you can google the SWCC boats and see they are a very different craft.

as to me being a troll, you caught me. after years and years of cutting commentary against our beloved .gov--commentary which will, when it falls apart, earn me preferred entrance into the regime's camps, no doubt--i slip out of character once and try to breathe some sense into a ZH conspiracy thread run well off the rails, revealing myself to be a rank troll. right. troll.

Those weren't special ops guys.  They're NECC - regular Navy.

No SWCC or SEAL is going to apologize on camera to anyone anywhere for anything.

If there were specwar guys on that op we'd be talking about a gunfight right now instead of a surrender.

The chances that both boats entered Iranian waters "accidentally"  literally hours before the State of the Union address, is no coincidence  ... the Deep State runs the US and, the only difference  between Trump and Clinton is that Clinton already knows that on day one she'll be sat down in a room full of baldheads and told "nice campaign speeches, now this is the way this really works ... "  Trump on the other hand, may have to watch the grassy knoll JFK rerun to get the point.

Must Not Burst Americans movie induced worship of all things military.

If so, what will happen to MIC budgets and fear of Big Govt back home ?

The same Navy switched sailors work uniforms to a polka dot pattern in blue. Great for hiding behind blue bushes. Didn't someone figure out that it's hard to hide sailors who are on big freakin' gray ships ?

They used the alibi it's so dirt doesn't show as easily. That's pathetic, even for government types. That didn't seem to be a problem with generations of sailors, including those who fought in WW2.

The real reason is 'all the other services have neat camo special uniforms, and we want ours too ! '

(Yeah, I was in the military & am from a military family.)

It could have also been contaminated fuel, which would explain why both vessels had problems essentially at the same time.

What doesn't make any sense is how they drifted for hours and didn't radio home that both were dead in the water.

What about this scenario?

One of the boats had legitimate mechanical issues, and the other, out of valor, stayed with them. That makes NO sense, right? One boat could have towed the broken one.

There's some dirty business there, but not too SpecOps in nature because there was a woman on board. Don't mean to sound sexist with that statement. The military is just not in the mode, yet, of involving women in those operations.

I'll submit the following for consideration:  the USN boats were just delivery / pickup vehicles for SEAL personnel, who had to find another ride home after the Iranian navy did its job.  The US female was basically a cab driver or a cab driver's assistant.

The 'sneak peek' theory seems off to me, since US satellite surveillance technology obviates the need for a physical presence near the shore.

I was there off the coast of Bahrain when they were holding 55 hostages for 444 days.  We (the task force) tried that stunt setting up the extraction operation, landing in a desert area at night.

The desert gods blew a mighty sandstorm...  plane and chopper tried to take off apparently facing each other (?) in blinding sandstorm at night.

The rest is history.  We should have just waited for Ronnie baby since he cut a deal where the Iranians would keep them until he won.
