In Latest Embarrassment For Obama, Iran Releases Footage Of Arrest, Apology Of 10 U.S. Sailors
With just hours to go before Obama's last State of the Union address, the US president suffered his latest foreign policy fiasco when around noon local time, Iran arrested 10 US sailors in a boat that has allegedly entered deep into Iranian territorial waters.
Needless to say, there was no mention of this in Obama's address and the scandal was quietly swept under the rug when the 9 young men and 1 woman were released earlier today, and all questions just why the soldiers were released only well after the SOTU's conclusion (were they a hostage bargaining chip in case Obama said something out untoward last night regarding Iran) were soundly ignored.
However, while there may have been some doubt as to Iran's intentions yesterday, all doubt was eliminated moments ago when Iran's state broadcaster just released photos not just of the 10 captured soldiers, which were shown earlier, but of their arrest as well as the seizure of the boat and their weapons.

The Navy boats may not have had bullets. I served in the Marine Corps and fought in Iraq for most of '04, which was one of the most violent years there. When we were getting our briefings before we went North from Kuwait, all of us were told, and I'm talking the whole way up to colonel that Iraq was pacified and we were just "keeping the peace." I remember when the armory was passing out ammo how they gave us 50 rounds for our machine guns and one magazine worth for our M16. We were pretty pissed off about that. Higher ups told us we wouldn't even need that much Hahahah boy were they wrong. We got hit about 10 miles in and were bombed and shot at foe the next 8 months solid. It got so bad with the ammo rationing that our Captains threatened the full Bird in charge of our mission with mutiny. And that's no shit. That's the shit you don't here about. That's why alot of military stories don't make sense.
As I said yesterday, and maybe the official story is wrong, but it was stated that only one boat had mechanical problems. The other could have easily towed it out of Iranian waters. There definitely is something smelling fishy unless those seamen are total fucking morons.

You're right. There's something missing from the narrative of this story. Not only the fact that little fishing boats are holding these Naval vessels but it just doesn't make sense that our boats were on the other side of the Gulf than their route would have taken them. Things just don't add up. We'll probably never know what actually was going on. I wouldn't bet against Obama putting our sailors in an embarrasing situation just to make the Navy look bad.
