Hillary's Lead Disintegrates: She Is Now Doing Worse Than In 2008, As Trump Surges

Tyler Durden's picture

Just when Hillary Clinton thought her political fiascoes would be the worst of her ongoing troubles as she glides through the Democrat primaries, and then takes on Trump sure to find a Warren Buffett-funded victory, suddenly everything appears to have gone wrong in what is most important to the scandal-ridden former Secretary of State and presidential contender: her second - and final - campaign for president.

According to WaPo, if one compares where Clinton is now in the Real Clear Politics polling average, the 2016 picture and the 2008 picture aren't really all that similar; in fact suddenly the trapdoor beneath Hillary appears to have sprung open. "Nationally, she was doing much better in 2008 than she is right now, perhaps in part because the anti-Clinton vote in 2008 was still split between two people -- Barack Obama and John Edwards -- instead of just one. But that recent trend line, a function of two new national polls that were close after a bit of a lull, is not very good news."

Not surprisingly, Clinton is trailing badly in New Hampshire, which is the home turf of her main socialist opponent. In 2008,

What little silver lining exists, is that in Iowa, Hillary is running a little better than she did in 2008, although as seen on the chart below even here her lead has plunged recently. In 2008 it wasn't until the last week that she fell out of the lead. She eventually came in third.

The problem remains the national race, and what's worse, if the 2008 past is prologue and if Hillary's lead in Iowa evaporates and she loses, it may be the end for the former first lady: back then she lost three-quarters of her lead after the caucuses although she did gain some of it back after her win in New Hampshire.

And while these numbers can easily change, one person who is certain to capitalize on Hillary's sudden collapse is Donald Trump, who as we showed recently has become the bookmakers' favorite after trailing badly as recently as September, even as Trump's republican competitors drop like flies on their own, the most recent casualty being Ben Carson whose campaign is all but over following news from CNN that Carson's campaign finance chairman Dean Parker submitted his resignation.

Finally, moments ago the WSJ reported that Donald Trump has opened a double-digit lead over his next-closest Republican rival, less than three weeks before the first votes of the 2016 presidential race are cast, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds.

A third of Republican primary voters in the nationwide survey said they favored Mr. Trump to be the GOP nominee, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 20% support, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 13% and retired pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 12%.

In December, Mr. Trump had led the No. 2 candidate, Mr. Cruz, by 5 percentage points. In the new poll, his lead widened to 13 points.

And so what was considered humor by most pundits as recently as last summer is becoming an all too possible reality: president Trump?

Visited Windhoek, Namibia (former Southwest Africa) several times in the 90's.  Very clean and orderly.  Plenty of civic spirit over recently gained independence.  Supermarkets full.  Listened to Bach choir concert in Lutheran church, as well as jam session in municipal auditorium.  Both performances superb.  Yes, peace and civic order are possible if we work on it.

Trumpster needs only former US Spec Ops and Spetznaz operators for his security. No SS needed. Plus maybe Ray Winstone.

Hillary is not looking so good in the unretouched current photos of her that I see. In light of which I offer the following, from "some guy somewhere on the Internet" -- which definitely qualifies it as mere rumor at this point -- but it is worth taking looking at because of its black swan possibility if it pans out to be true...

And... Once again before I go... I'd like to take a few moments, if I may, to discuss my observations regarding Mrs. Clinton's health. I've observed several things which should be quite concerning to her supporters. First, there are her famous "cankles", which, combined with her up and down "pregnant-looking" belly suggest edema, or a buildup of fluid. It appears that she undergoes a paracentesis treatment at least every two weeks, and possibly more often, to drain off that fluid. Judging by the apparent change I've seen, I guess they take off at least 9 liters per treatment. (20 lbs.)

This is a very common symptom among patients with extreme liver damage/failure. Also, watch her hands when she raises them above shoulder level. You'll see them bend and start to "wave". That's a common sign of ammonia buildup, which is also almost universal in liver patients. Ammonia can also cause "dementia-like" symptoms, such as memory loss, confusion,  blackouts, mood changes, and occasionally hallucinations, along with fatigue, general weakness, and loss of coordination.

Her "special friend," Huma Abedin has commented that Mrs. Clinton needs to take a lot of naps, and also that "Mrs. Clinton is often confused." The most common drug given to relieve those symptoms is Lactulose, which has one major  side-effect. It causes one to move their bowels at least 4 times a day, often more, and with very little warning. One of the more "amusing" side-effects is rather loud flatulence. I haven't had the opportunity to hear any of the audible signals, but what I've seen visually suggests that Mrs. Clinton's liver is just barely holding together.

She won't be able to take the time off from her campaigning for a liver transplant without a lot of people wondering "Why does she need a new liver?", and I seriously doubt that she will let anyone tell her to stop drinking. If you add to this, the stress of a campaign, and also the possibility of indictment (however small)... plus whatever Lovecraftian cocktail of drugs and Black Magic is used to give her that "lifelike appearance", her time on this mortal plane is severely limited.

I strongly doubt that she will even survive until November.

One of Trumps faults is that he went bankrupt a couple of times but who would be better to lead a country that went bankrupt years ago but hasn't realized it?

Always, always, always...the mean-spirited articles aimed at the Democrat side. Never a mean-spirited article aimed at anyone on the Republican lineup of candidates. Conclusion: Pure partisanship, no balance here at the Hedge. Here are two truths for all of the politically-minded ZHers-

1. The most important thing the Democrats need is a strong Republican Party.

2. The most important thing the Republicans need is a strong Democrat Party.

Why? Do you really think widespread conformity to a single party is a good idea? Single party systems always end in disaster. It appears that conservatives truly would welcome the elimination of all liberals, and this sentiment is very one-sided. I cringe at the idea of a massive, one-party-dominated political machine. I cower in fear of "only democrats" or "only republicans."

If you stop to notice, just about every Republican slogan this time around revolves around either fear (of terrorists, etc) or values (gay marriage, etc). The entirety of Republican politics revolves around telling someone else what to do/not do.

As for the Democrats, all of their slogans revolve around telling others to fear Republicans. They have no other ideas, apparently. This is such an unsustainable path for American politics.

Umm...where is the ZH story blasting Sen. cruz for an undisclosed $1,000,000 loan from the vampire squid Goldman Sachs? Personally, I think it is much ado about nothing (like the faux email scandal for Hillary), but this highlights the incredibly un-balanced approach from the conservative side.

You're missing something, Contrarian.

There is a fundamental difference between Us and Them.

10,000 years ago, ALL  humans made their living as hunter-gatherers.  They made their living by foraging in the forest and TAKING what they could find.

Then, some superior human beings invented herding and agriculture, and humans learned how to create surplus food and animals by SAVING and MULTIPLYING.  Smart people today would recognize this as "capitalism".

So, there you have it.

Primitive human beings (i.e. Democrats) made their living by SUBTRACTING from the naturally occurring store of wealth in the forest.

Modern human beings (i.e. capitalists) make their living by MULTIPLYING the resources that they find in the forest.

Subtracters versus multipliers.

Now that I've explained this to you (you should have figured this out by age six), I hope you will realize that when you say stupid things like "Democrats and Republicans are just the same", it makes you sound clueless and uninformed.
