"This One Is A Bag Of Dicks": America Answers Oregon Militia's Plea For "Supplies"
Shortly after Ammon Bundy and a handful of armed militiamen “seized” a remote bird sanctuary to protest the imprisonment of a rancher and his son for setting fire to federal land, the group appealed to “patriotic” Americans to send supplies.
Initially, Bundy said his followers were prepared to occupy the building “for years” if they had to if it meant securing the release of Dwight Hammond and his son Steven and forcing the federal government to reimagine laws around land rights. As a reminder, the group is apparently attempting to force the issue of land control back into the national consciousness with a kind of ad hoc, haphazard rekindling of the Sagebrush Rebellion.
Shortly after Bundy suggested that the standoff could last “years”, it became apparent that the group might not have packed enough supplies.
Before you knew it, Jon Ritzheimer - the same Jon Ritzheimer who, in a YouTube video addressed to his family, cries while clutching a small paperback copy of the Constitution on the way to explaining why it’s necessary to commandeer a tiny building in the middle of nowhere - took to Facebook to ask for "cold weather socks, snacks, energy drinks, equipment for cold weather, snow camo, gear, and anything you think will help."
Well as it turns out, some “sympathizers” did indeed have ideas about “what would help.”
“The occupiers, who took over buildings at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge on Jan. 2 in the latest conflict over the U.S. government's control of land in the West, had been hoping for snacks, fuel and warm clothes when they provided sympathizers with a local mailing address,” Reuters notes. “Instead, as they angrily showed online, they received sex-related toys and food that would be of little use as they braced for a long standoff with federal law enforcement agents who have kept watch from a distance.”
Yes, “food that would be of little use as they braced for a long standoff with federal agents.” Food like “a bag of penis-shaped candies,” or as Jon Ritzheimer puts it in an angry new video, “this one was really funny, a bag o' dicks.”

Well, these guys aren't community organizers. My understanding is this is a protest over the sentencing in CA. They burned what, 130 acres of land that probably needed to be burned anyway, and this was either arson or an accident, depending on who is talking.
So for burning 130 acres of federal, on purpose or by accident, I think one guy got three months and the other got a year. The judge was vocally opposed to the 5 years each that the gov wanted. So the fed prosecutors appealed (now, when the fuck has that ever happened, an appeal to get a stiffer sentence?) and found a judge sympathetic to whatever endangered wombat they threatened with their "arson."
The 99%ers who commandeered public lands nationwide--state, federal, county, city, and even some private-- were encouraged by their benevolent govt. They turned public property into piss, mud and shit to protest their educated white privilege. Then they left, and let me and others like me to pick up the tab. I look at these guys in that context. At least I don't have to put up with their shit on the way to work.
The Hammonds have had a feud with the local BLM for over eight years including threats. Guess the Feds had enough. Hammonds took enough rope to hang themselves. The younger poached deer then burned public land to cover his tracks. Jeffrey St Clair did a story on those guys years ago.

When I was a kid in farm country in the '70s, family farming was being wiped out of existence by Big Banking and corporate farming. People got desperate, and fell for all manner of snake oil. I remember the farmers who were going under, listening to con-men saying they'd been reading the Constitution in the outhouse and discovered all kinds of new rights in there that nobody else had ever noticed; mostly rights that allowed you to keep the money you'd borrowed and not pay it back and keep your collateral too. Only the most desperate and sad people fell for the bullshit, but occasionally it got violent. Google "James Jenkins" and "Steven Jenkins" if you're interested. I knew Steve. When he was 16 or so he shaved his head and got all kinds of tattoos before any of that was fashionable. He talked of nothing but killing people and joining the Marines. They wouldn't take him because he was too crazy. And then he murdered two bankers.

Unfortunately, I don't think the tactic of trying to change the government's behavior is going to work. For the militia types, I think the better tactic would be to slowly, gradually, start moving to a common location, a friendly state, whatever, and just fill it up with the like-minded. It would take awhile, but eventually they'd be enough of a majority for folks to start listening, taking them more seriously. When you have enough folks, it really doesn't matter if others ridicule you, when you are big enough you will be a lot less amusing to them.
But these little stand-offs here and there aren't really doing much of anything, except allowing the whole narrative to be taken over by those with their own agendas...whether they are on the outside, or have infiltrated the groups themselves. It doesn't look to me as though Bundy and Co. really have any control over this situation, and we are all just looking and waiting for some excuse to resolve the thing.
But militia-folks...the 'American people' will never unite and join you in fighting tyranny. Police Make First Arrests Related To Stolen Wildlife Refuge Vehicles
A 62-year-old Oregon man was arrested Friday in Burns, Oregon, in connection with stolen Malheur National Wildlife Refuge vehicles, the Harney County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Oregon State Police officers took Kenneth Medenbach, of Crescent, Oregon, into custody just after noon at the Safeway in Burns. Medenbach was arrested on probable cause for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Officers recovered two vehicles stolen from the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had reported the vehicles stolen to the county sheriff’s office.

Were you aware of this little fact -- The United States is the only government (for the most part) in the world that grants mineral rights to landowners?
If you live in XYZ country, and oil, coal or gold is found on your property -- too damned bad -- that all now belongs to the government.
The US government may end up with those mineral rights -- but they paid the private land owner for them. In other countries -- you're shit out of luck.

You bring up a good point. A point worth considering. Why are private corporations permitted to extract natural resources from the land that belongs to the US Citizen (Statutory or Natural) and not pay the average joe a stipend for the rape of said resources and lands?
Whom or what owns the land (hence, resources) of this United States? Whom or what is ultimately in control of the Federal Government of this United States? I was taught that it was the people. But then times change.
