Stephen Hawking Warns Humanity: Leave Earth Before The Ruling Class Destroys It

Humanity’s future is in peril thanks to so-called advancements in science and technology, claims Professor Stephen Hawking, who cited “nuclear war, global warming, and genetically-modified viruses” as deadly threats to our existence.

Hawking described various “things that could go wrong” to an audience of hundreds attending the first in a series of BBC Reith Lectures, which pertain to research about black holes. He asserted the necessity for colonization of other planets to ensure survival of the human species. According to the BBC, Hawking cautioned:

“Although the chance of a disaster to planet Earth in a given year might be quite low, it adds up over time, and becomes a near certainty in the next thousand or ten thousand years.

“By that time, we should have spread out into space, and to other stars, so a disaster on Earth would not mean the end of the human race.

“However, we will not establish self-sustaining colonies in space for at least the next hundred years, so we have to be very careful in this period.”

Though it would seem counterproductive for such a well-respected scientist to decry scientific progress as humanity’s most existential threat, this isn’t the first time Hawking has advised us to exercise caution, as Anti-Media has reported several times. Last summer, the theoretical physicist was among over 1,000 artificial intelligence experts who signed an open letter about the weaponization of robots and the ongoing “military artificial intelligence arms race” among the world’s military powers.

In October of last year, Hawking warned scientists at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) about the potential for the Higgs Boson “God Particle” to initiate catastrophic vacuum decay — the formation of a quantum bubble that expands at the speed of light and could decimate the entire universe. Concern over the automation of the world’s workforce coupled with capitalist greed also earned the scientist’s stern alarm.

In fact, taken collectively, Hawking’s numerous warnings are aimed directly at the careless hubris of the ruling elites and their tendency to act in favor of profit — in a variety of fields — without consideration given to long-term consequences resulting from such hastily implemented projects.

Despite the numerous cautionary scenarios Hawking has proffered, he claims society will likely discover the means to cope.

“We are not going to stop making progress, or reverse it, so we have to recognize the dangers and control them,” he stated. “I’m an optimist, and I believe we can.

“It’s important to ensure that these changes are heading in the right directions. In a democratic society, this means that everyone needs to have a basic understanding of science to make informed decisions about the future.

“So communicate plainly what you are trying to do in science, and who knows, you might even end up understanding it yourself.”

The BBC will broadcast this first lecture with Stephen Hawking on January 26 and February 2. It will also be found online here.

Hawking’s theories, of course, haven’t escaped criticism; yet he does maintain a healthy enthusiasm, which was evidenced in this advice he offered young scientists:

“From my own perspective, it has been a glorious time to be alive and doing research in theoretical physics. There is nothing like the Eureka moment of discovering something that no one knew before.”

OK first...check things out off the planet and get back to us...

Who the fuck is this guy anyways? Wanna be Nostradamus? I mean, global warming? It's like Mother Nature is a bitch, so leave the earth. Wtf

How can even a brainiac like Hawking believe in the lunacy of man-induced "global warming"?  It proves that NO one has an all-encompassing ability for higher reasoning.

And Steve... why don't you call out the specific people who are ruining our world?  They do have a collective name you know.

mtl4's picture

I think he's missing the fact that human nature in all its benefits/detriments will follow it to other planets too.......including revolutions that come from oppressive ruling classes.

Didn't Iran just mess with the GPS signal and screw the AI warfare model?

Do other planets actually exist?  Just askin'

Judging by some of the asanine shit he's said in the past, I draw the conclusion that Hawking has no problem with "the careless hubris of ruling elites."

you know, he hasn't been quite the same since i kicked the snot out of him years ago...

The man is a self-professed genius. Never really made any contributions to science.

He may be a genius, but he's not setting much of an example to kids by just sitting at his computer all day.

The man is under someone's thumb IMO.  Certainly he knows ice ages come and go, temps rise and fall, and climates change, they always will.

Sounds to me he realizes we're about to terminate some folks and he's telling us to get out of town, so to speak. he's probably been reading the Book of Revelation and sick of sitting in that chair longing for an escape.

they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." Then they went up into heaven in the cloud

He's ready for the castle in the sky, ready to vacate earth, to find nirvana in space, AKA Heaven.

Hawking is one of the Scientists who has sold out for money, power, property and prestige.
His Science is Not Science....  It's political Gobbledygook
So, we gotta get off the planet because of the rich... only the rich can afford to get off the [planet.

I wish they would.  We should incourage them to freeze themselves for the future.  Then we'll take them to the north poll where they will sit until their predictions of melting ice caps comes true....

If you like your planet, you can keep your planet.

We will destroy some planets.

There are plenty more of them out there, after all. If we spread to other planets, greed and destructive forces are sure to stay back on planet Earth, no? for universe's sake, mankind should not develop escape capabilities for a long long time. When we arte incapable of keeping our planet, we deserve to get extinguished. Like a virus. Simple as that.

I took an Environmental Science class as an undergraduate and will never forget the belly laugh my teacher had over colonizing the Moon, much less another planet. He said it would be a infinitely easier to colonize the remotest, coldest spot on our planet than look toward the stars to find an answer. Steven Hawking is a Loon.

AMPALANCE's picture

Nope, not physically possible, we are bound and Isolated to this planet although Hawking is right about nuclear war being our demise. Just not in the way we are led to believe it will happen. There will be no nuclear Armageddon with the sudden release of nuclear weapons, rather this humanity ending weapons release has been going on already for the last 20 years in the form of radio-logical dirty bombs dropped by the tons already by our military. enough has already been released to render the planet sterile of all life several times over. It's name is Depleted Uranium or DU. It can be and is handled by hand safely with just a thin glove unburned. Once burned it becomes a deadly carcinogen and mutagenic causing multiple rare cancers and horrendous genetic deformities in the newborns of those exposed. Add to that the so called green nuclear power plants "safe releases" and the radioactive waste produced and stored, and the occasional Fukishima radioactive bomb fire that continues to leak years later unabated.

As far as leaving our once pristine planet, it won't happen. ever! Just to reach the next sun, if we where moving at the same rate as the Viking satellite would take around 73.000 years, written human history is what, at best 8.000 years? It's a sure bet the distance to a sun with a planet in the livable "Goldilocks" zone planet will be multiples of that. Science and NASA will never admit to these facts and chance losing their free ri, er I mean funding. We may have rendered ourselves extinct already within 3-5 generations, If we stopped now, we won't, instead we will see progressive increases in both sterility and cancer.

Humanities epilogue will have Einstein and Keynes as the greatest mass murderers ever known, one starved us to death, and the other sterilized us. "Breathe, Breathe in the air, don't be afraid to care" -Pink Floyd

The rich don't wanna share the planet with all the "little men". The global population chart is pretty scary, looks a blow-off top right now, I guess they want a retracement.. Better "get off the planet"! Thanks Steve, ain't life grand?

Theosebes Goodfellow's picture

I guess that this is why he's the smart guy, regardless of physical limitations. I totally agree with the man. Here's the cliff Notes for the rest of you.

If you do not get a portion of humanity off the fuckin' planet then there is a high probability that ALL of humanity will perish if any one, (or more), of the truly nasty things ever happen. Smarten up, cowboys. The rich kids don't wear cammo and go off to fight in shooting wars. They do though control the nukes, bio-bugs, and things that make the planet sterile. The farther away from them you are the better off you and your children will be.

fx's picture

I have yet to understand, why, from a universal perspective, it would be such a terrible thing if mankind gets completely wiped out by its own actions. There may be other species out there who handle the gems given to them by mother nature much better and with greater respect and care. We tend to view ourselves as the ultimate top of the development chain and the best there is but odds are high that we may just be the top of another dead end. If we were to watch another planet similiar to ours with a species running it down the same way we do - wouldn't we perhaps feel relief once the torturing of the planet ends? Would we view that alien species as worth surviving or wouldn't we rather judge that it may be a good thing that it died, the sooner the better, for everybody else on said planet? And if so, why would we deserve any better?

Raging Debate's picture

Fx - Actually, there is a place in the bible where God tells Moses he just thinks he should just exterminate our entire species. I guess Moses arguments were persuasive.

Whether you believe in God or bible or whatever metaphysics, it is a good question you pose Fx but then the path leads to self loathing. We do have our good side too as a species. Not every person is born or becomes a sociopath and such through there imperfections drive a portion of pain necessary for our evolution. Cheating is a concept in evolution but dont expect me to thank them for playing such a role.

the occulted Book of Enoch apparently describes our home plane and our sun and moon and heavenly observations.

Why important today?

When getting a grip, and taking the next logical steps after realizing the fakery of NASA moon & space programs - the purpose of the fraud is key - they are hiding a more accurate description of our home.

The Ancient humans and really up to late 1800s described a earth where the motions of the sun and moon circle overhead on a stationary earth.

Basically this delusion of a spinning waterball which is just a tiny speck in a vast, vast expanse is rapidly regaining an obvious more accurate model for our existence.

It's why  NASA is on a full court media blitz daily putting out paid advertisements for their version of the spinning space balls and tales of martian landings ... science fiction books were big in mid 20th century ...

the extremely rapid increase of experienced people posting Youtube videos giving evidence that no measurable curve of the earth can be shown.  At high altitudes there is never a drop off of the horizon; on a spinning ball you would always see a more rapidly declining horizon as altitude is increased.

What we need is some form of eugenics that sterilizes the undesireable genes, say unintelligent genes. People aren't that organised though and nobody wants to be branded "undesireable", so either nature will wipe us out or some kind of manipulated false flag war will wipe a load of us out. Shame, but inevitable.

Spoiler Alert.......................they even killed Han Solo, the manliest good-guy in the whole series. So now we're left with Superbabe who learned jedi-awesomeness overnight (even Luke Skywalker had to wait 3 movies before he could take on a sith)......a vibrantly-ethnic clone-trooper good guy who learned how to fight with a light sabre INSTANTLY (see Luke Skywalker again).....and like you said......and even awesomer Def Star which can take out mutiple planets at once. Although.....they seem to insist on building such things with X-wing accessible ductwork! They never learn.

P.S. Oh yeah....and The Empire has been renamed to the less old-school and patriarchal  "First Order". WTF?

There are those who believe Hawking has been "hijacked" and as he can't speak for himself, he relies on a computer to do his talking.  Whoever is Hawking's promoter/personal assistance has the unique opportunity to use his elevated influence to put forth statements and opinions that are not held to scrutiny
