US, Japan, Canada, Australia and 8 Other Countries Sign Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement

George Washington's picture

The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) would be horrible for Americans and the people of the world.

But most politicians are thoroughly corruptNeither the Democratic or Republican parties represent the interests of the American people. Both parties ignore the desires of their own bases.

So today, 12 countries – Brunei, Chile, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia      Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, United States and Vietnam – signed the TPP.

They never followed through on their promise of an open and lively debate.

Only by raising hell can we stop this monster.

Meanwhile, the master of the universe weighs in... In an interview with David Sirota, Elizabeth Warren, now the progressive senior US senator from Massachusetts, scoffed at comments made yesterday by Goldman Sachs head Lloyd Blankfein, who alleged that Clinton rival Bernie Sanders’ campaign might be leading America toward a “dangerous moment.” (Sanders has bluntly discouraged Wall Street from backing him.)

“When Blankfein says that criticizing those who break the rules is dangerous to the economy, then he’s just repeating another variation of ‘too big to fail,’ ‘too big to jail,’ ‘too big even to prosecute,’” Warren told Sirota.

“That tells you here we are, seven years after the crisis and these guys still don’t get it. Seven years. That crisis cost an estimated $14 trillion, it cost jobs, it cost homes, it cost retirement funds. And Lloyd Blankfein stands up and says ‘Don’t even criticize me, I ran a company that was right at the heart of some of the biggest financial frauds in history and made money off it, but don’t you dare criticize me.’

" You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immane, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multinational dominion of dollars. Petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, reichmarks, rins, rubles, pounds, and shekels. It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU... WILL... ATONE! Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale? You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM, and ITT, and AT&T, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today. What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state, Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, minimax solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do. We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale. It has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, Mr. Beale, to see that... perfect world... in which there's no war or famine, oppression or brutality. One vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock. All necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused. And I have chosen you, Mr. Beale, to preach this evangel.

Hillary Clinton's Emails About Fukushima -- And Then A Black Out As She Goes to Japan to Support US Nuke Cartel I only have a few takeaways from the review of several thousand emails to and from Hilary Clinton in 2011 Spring.

But first the skeleton in the closet.   Clinton had almost daily email communications on Fukushima, then 2 aids or handlers implored her to go to Japan even though she was really tired from so much travel.    After that second email imploring her to go to Japan, ALL HER FUKUSHIMA  EMAIL STOPPED---well at least it was not disclosed in the email disclosure.

Of course setting up a trip to Japan to discuss Fukushima would need lots of logistics, talking points, points of contacts, meetings.    She did make that infamous trip.    So basically Clinton did not supply these!!!    60 top secret email were released to the FBI, BUT the coverup of the Fukushima story was so important that Clinton and her group committed a felony but removing these from the record.     It is the only story that makes sense.

Here is the chronology of events/emails to make it simple to see how the emails just STOPPED.

A Modest TPP Proposal:

Tired of having to go through all the hard work of actually producing a good or performing a service to accumulate your wealth? Or maybe your company’s ‘worth every penny’ CEO wearies of endlessly consulting with tiresome, democratically elected governments constantly legislating that your profitable but polluting industry be responsible for cleaning up this, and denying it permits to do that?

Well relax, the TPP has your business model covered. Now what were once egregiously irritating and expensive setbacks at the hands of some godforsaken backwater’s dirt-munching, treehugging politician/judge alleging they’re imposing some ridiculous ‘mandate from the masses’ will become TPP levers at your disposal. Populist, democratically imposed rulings against your company’s practices now can be employed to catapult your balance sheet deep into the black later, perhaps even without your labour ever having to turn a shovel! Play your cards right and to make your mark you won’t even need employees at all anymore, save a few connected international lawyers and your own good eye for an opportunity.

Nowadays this is where the big money lies: in proposing grossly environmentally/financially destructive start-ups that you have no real intention of ever bringing to fruition (see, you have a conscience after all! Who knew?). Simply go through the start-up motions, make all the initial calls, pocket the right politicians, and then, once the purposefully loathsome plan runs up against the inevitable brick wall of public outrage, as intended, you proceed to make your case before your fine group of friends at the opaque, unaccountable TPP tribunal, who have been handpicked to ‘hear you out’. True, they are answerable to no other beings on the planet, perhaps excepting those who worship Mammon; but then that’s just like you! Note: it behooves you to bear in mind their support when you take your turn on the judges’ side of the table.

So does it matter that three quarters or more of the affected nation’s population don’t want you to open up shop in their country? Does it matter that they have had widely popular legal checks in place for decades in order to balance industry with sustainability and responsibility? Heck no! In fact, so long as someone representing them signed an international trade agreement sometime somewhere at some point, the more the people of the targeted nation are against your repulsive idea the better because in turn that means that in all likelihood there will be vast reams of regulations and legalities making it ever so difficult for your company to turn an unmitigated profit at the expense of everyone and everything else.

So let it be 100 percent of the hoi poloi against you! Be bold: design your business plan to target the destruction of a sensitive ecosystem of some endangered frou-frou that is protected by their precious constitution. Or you could simply fashion a proposal that targets the health and welfare of the citizenry itself. In fact, the more outrageously horrific the damage to be caused by your ruse the better. It may seem counter-intuitive, but greater public resistance will actually serve to increase your bottom line thanks to your colleagues at the TPP’s unelected, unaccountable, and otherwise inscrutable tribunals.

How? Because, darn it, you could have made that money, if only that population of self interested plebeians had allowed you to externalize enough of the costs for you to easily extract the wealth you so richly deserve. Really, it’s their own fault for electing representatives that refuse to recognize just how far beyond regulation you really are, and for such insolent transgressions you and your TPP tribunal friends are entitled to hold their entire economy hostage until the selfish population pays you whatever amount it is you feel they owe you.

You can’t lose, but you can’t win if you don’t play.

Don’t believe me my skeevy-hearted, avaricious little friend? Such opportunities sound too good to be true to such a high personage as yourself in possession of an indubitably superior business acumen? Well, quit being so cynical; get off your spotty behind and start pretending like you’re actually trying to do something. If it doesn’t pay out the first time, fine; try and try again. Indeed, if your team is slick enough all you will ever really risk is the legal fees, and the return on a single tribunal ruling in your favour could cover such costs for a lifetime of litigation. Heck, who knows? You may even end up goading some of your more usefully ignorant, or otherwise pocketed, ‘authorities having jurisdiction’ into accepting the unacceptable, so allowing you to proceed with your unconscionable but immensely profitable enterprise; it’s win-win!

All kidding aside, here is the simple reason most nations will get the short end of the ‘free’ trade schtick, every time: debtor nations have abrogated their sovereignty to foreign banquing interests, and those creditors want the debt-peonage written in stone so their milk-cow doesn’t get any funny ideas about taking its sovereignty back.

Did Canada sign or not?

There is virtually NO headline or news on this in the Canadian News Cycle and my 85 year ol’ Mud’da has the socialist news, the SeeBeeSee, on, ALL THE TIME.

Okay, there’s this:

Chrystia Freeland signs Trans-Pacific Partnership deal in New Zealand

This is dated the 3rd, before Canada signed according to wiki? And it’s buried. The only Canadian refrence.

According to wiki

Canada just signed it. So did the US.

Not a peep in the big news cycle. Not. A. Peep.

It’s complete bafflegab, political misdirection, yacking away about her commentary to Canada.
After signing the agreement, Freeland told reporters that Canada's participation in the Asia Pacific economy was very important and reassured her counterparts from the other 11 countries that Canada's new government was pro-trade.
Why is it important for Canadians to find out that New Zealand signed the agreement?

Political misdirection, redirection.

This article is so confusing, filled with misdirection, I didn’t even cotton that Freeland was the Minister for Canada!

And this from Jan. 25, 2016.

Canada will sign TPP trade deal Feb. 4, but ratification not certain

I guess it all depends on what the definition of signed and ratified is, is, eh?

So why the obviously deliberate, confusing commentary from Freeland?

Is this the in-the-bag-media-for-Trudeau, letting the news out slowly?

Canada is in big trouble. All of their Trade Balances, are negative with the countries in the TPP, in the billions.

All those jobs, gone. Add in the rest of the turd world like Mexico, Chile, et cetera…

And bring on the automation!

Go here and see the list of the trade deficits Canada is already experiencing!

You do know that Canada is doing a trade deal with India and a sort-of-pseudo-deal with China?

China open to historic free-trade deal with Canada under certain provisos

Oopsi! Not a psuedo-deal, but a real deal now. And listen to the bullshit being spouted!

Under NAFTA Canada has been the most sued nation on the planet and has lost every case costing Canadian taxpayers billions in handouts to the corporate. Under NAFTA the USofA has been sued a handful of times and has won every case.....this should tell us everything we need to know about who rules the roost, the corporations that rule USA Inc, and how these trade and legal pacts work in reality to the deteriment of national sovereignty in benefit of the people to protect their commons. Currently a Calif. based LLC is suing Canada and the Province of B.C. for billions (10?) for not allowing the export of bulk water. They use a local LLC to gain access to the resource. Under NAFTA rules once an export trade commences it can NEVER be terminated giving Canada good reason not want to begin the export of water. No doubt an out of settlement costing Canadian taxpayers a billion or so just to protect their common resource from a law suit aimed at making money off of this sovereign desire to protect a valuable resource will be the outcome. Its like the Corproation of Canada and these other corporations are passing the hard earned tax dollars of the people among themselves with a wink and a nod. As it is Canada is obligated under NAFTA to ensure the USofA receives the percentage of Canadian oil production it now receives in perpetutiy if corporations within the USA wish to purchase the oil no matter Canada's future needs even with a declining volume of extraction. Corporations rule - Sovereign governments and their peoples and commons drool...... under any of these legal frameworks called trade deals......

Basically, every signee of the TPP is broke, including the US and Japan. Are the remaining economic “power houses” -Brunei, Chile, New Zealand, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, and Vietnam going to increase world economic activity? Highly doubtful.

GoinFawr's picture

The 'this is going to increase economic activity' meme is only the carrot, and as you've noticed, it's fake.

The fact that they are all broke is the very reason they had to sign the TPP, or they'd get the stick.

The planners forget a simple thing: who will buy their products ? When they strip the 99% of their livelihoods, who will buy health insurance, banking "products", processed food-like substances, etc ? Look at Venezuela and Greece for examples. With TTP, TTIP, NAFTA etc etc, that is where we're going. I don't think the 1% will like the world they are creating. They delusionally think they can escape the consequences, but they won't.

The thing is, people need to help the process along. Stop buying from any transnational corporation. Nothing. Buy local and repair what you have. Buy used, not new. Do not buy food-like substances; eat food from local farmers without pesticides and herbicides. Get healthy and fit. Drop health insurance, use alternative medicine practitioners, don't support allopathic medical practitioners. If you are on prescriptions, you should assess whether you really need them or it's just poison. Stop buying shit you don't need. Downsize. Make your own. Have fun with your life and do for yourself and your community instead of spending your life doing crap for some soulless sellout corporation so you can enjoy 2 weeks vacation a year and some weekend time.

Stop selling your soul and your health and wellbeing to the elites.

This scheme will only be the TRUE blueprint of tomorrow IF the US/CHINA conundrum in the money markets finds an equitable resolution. And if the US rules on as world hegemon during the reset.

If it doesn't, we are in for a rough ride on the world roller coaster and all blue prints will be DEFACTO obsolete before the ink is dry on the names of its signatories. As in a multilateral world the deal makes no sense.

All the current signs indicate that challenge is now gonna hotten up.

Signed yesterday in Auckland - New Zealand.  The TTP has alot of support by both major NZ political parties and was instigated by NZ years ago (when it was a trade aggrement with Singapore), has since been hijacked by Japan and the USA for big corporations, pharmaceuticals and extended copy right laws.  As a trade agreement it is rubbish (nothing in it); but it will still need to be ratified by the various goverments and laws changed before it is enforced.  NZ Govt will sign away their rights (brought and paid for), but will Americans?
