"You Should Be Very Worried, You Should Be Prepared" Warns Jim Rogers

Tyler Durden's picture

"[Central Banks] think they are smarter than the market," exclaims billionaire investor Jim Rogers, "they are not!"

Warning CNN in this brief but disturbing reality check that "we are all going to get hurt by a global recession," Rogers takes aim at the incompetence of the "academic and bureaucrats who don't know what they are doing," raging that "this is going to be a disaster in the end."

Rogers concludes:

"You Should Be Very Worried, You Should Be Prepared"

200 Seconds of awful truth...

And if you are not concerned enough, Rogers did an extended radio interview, explaining that the inevitable consequence of disastrous easy-money policy from central planners is war...

39:35 - Jim discusses inevitable consequences of disastrous easy-money policy from central planners is war.

40:00 - Jim discusses heightened xenophobia during difficult economic times and how it can lead to conflict.

40:57 - Jim discusses how the coexistence of a rising world power and a stagnant or in-decline world power leads to conflict.

42:26 - Jim discusses precious metals.

45:30 - Jim discusses a history of poor leadership from US Presidents will continue, money printing and currency debasement will continue, no matter who gets elected this year.
47:49 - Jim discusses coming sovereign debt crises, loss of confidence in government, and how it can lead to war.

48:35 - Jim says "read your history," politicians will continue to make things worse, capital controls will intensify, economic conditions will continue to deteriorate and war is likely.

I enjoyed watching Jimmy guest host with Mark Haines on Friday mornings back in the 90s.

I remember the day he announced he was buying oil stocks with both hands - oil was in the dumps...trading around $10/bbl.

His tune hasn't changed much, but he's a true entrepreneur and always entertaining.

Bokkenrijder's picture

Jim doesn't sound very healthy; shortness of breath, sort of burping at the end.

Extreme stress?

Does anybody know what trading strategy is this guy from Tickmill using:

"Cupcake"... now, that has a ring to it!  And, makes me want a sweet snack while watching the price of gold go up.

Maybe his symptoms are kind of like the market´s burps and farts.

Okay, since everybody and his brother is pasting links, even if they got nothing to do with this story like WTFRLY, I'll also give it a shot. Completely ON topic though.

Maybe this is what's causing Jim's shortness of breath: a massive banking crisis brewing in his new hometown Singapore? http://davidstockmanscontracorner.com/the-banking-turmoil-spreads-massiv...

You can't just "pull" a building.....it takes weeks of work and planning. You have to weaken load bearing members and set charges. It can actually take months.

Or maybe to BTBFD (buy the big fucking dip) in a couple years when S&P is 1/2 off.

He follows links posted by annoying blog pimps, then jumps in with both feet.

Jim Rogers is short of breath because he knows he's going to take a big hit and he doesn't know which way the hit is coming from...but he's got gold. He's got a lot of gold. Jim didn't make his bones being dumb about the direction of markets.

He's getting up there in years too I think. . .

LowerSlowerDelaware_LSD's picture

Yep, he's at that age where he will probably die in a hotel room with a pillow over his face and a "judge" named Cinderella will claim that it was a heart attack, disallowing an autopsy.

KesselRunin12Parsecs's picture

Maybe he'll die in a jousting accident (your tractor against his)

Eurasian stacking newb's picture

Was that a "footless" reference? ....

jwoop66's picture

Sounds like he had a recent stroke or something.

American Psycho's picture

The guy usually rides his stationary bike during interviews.  Multitasking at its finest.

JangoFett's picture

He probably had enchiladas for lunch lol.

Duc888's picture

Shortness of breath, he inhaled his bowtie.

Now when he farts he sounds like a Fokker D VII just off idle.

Citxmech's picture

+1 for the D-VII referance!

KesselRunin12Parsecs's picture

if he farted out of his mouth, his bowtie would probably start spinning around. (that's how you can tell)

ok's picture

I know Jim personally. He usually pedals a stationary sitting bike while he does interviews to stay active. Either that or fiction i forget.

He's in Singapore, transmissions are delayed. But like us all, we g we t old.

Hm, the guy started with SOROS. Maybe the Hungarian devil is sucking his blood.

i miss haines. he had the best delivery in financial news with the best brains and sense of humor, especialliy when he delivered news or someone answered a question he didn't believe.

johngaltfla's picture

I too miss Haines.

What is sad is that Jimmy's bet on ag is about implode in his face.

I predict $4 soy, $1 corn, $.50 wheat, and $0.25 oats before it is all over.

Jimmy is great but hyperdeflation fucks everyone up the ass.

Mr. Universe's picture

...but that would mean just about every small farmer would be wiped out. Of course big AGbiz will get bail outs and then be able to control just about all the food supply. I'm pretty sure the plan calls for sodomy for all.

Crawdaddy's picture

Same plan as back in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's.

Squid-puppets a-go-go's picture

we wont get to hyperdeflation. Helicopters will see to that.

VinceFostersGhost's picture

It literally costs the US zero to print money.

Cynicles's picture

Big ag is subservient to MonSatan.

Spigot's picture

Depending on the cost of production or inventory in storage. There is a break even price for the seller below which they can't release product. If spot goes below that, essentially supply will simply evaporate. Price has to fund the whole chain of production to delivery, or else the whole chain falls apart.

firestarter_916's picture

The "Tunes" don't need to change if they are right. He's been right on oil and learned from hitory, obviously. He probably bought gold around the same time when it was under $300/oz.

I think you mean Turkish terrorists.

Didn't he try out the phrase "We can fix it" at some point in his campaign?  Well, if he can't even fix his own campaign that doesn't say much about the guy.  He's a fucking stuffed shirt and it warms my heart that apparently some people are seeing that (or maybe they just don't want a Bush dynasty).  Whatever... he's done.
