In The Past Year, The U.S. Added 360,000 Waiters And Only 12,000 Manufacturing Workers
We already know that US jobs "growth" continues entirely on the back of (seasonally adjusted) minimum wage job growth, and since this has been one of our preferred topics exposing the hollow core of the so-called "recovery", we once again show the divergence between the two job categories that have come to define the New Paranormal: waiters and bartenders, aka the only truly growing (minimum wage) job category, and manufacturing workers - well paid jobs which sadly are no longer being created.
Here is how this "recovery" has looked: since last February, the US has added 360K waiters; in the same time, a paltry 12,000 manufacturing workers have been added as shown in the chart below.
How about longer-term? The next chart shows the cumulative growth (and decline) in waiter and bartender jobs since the start of the depression in December 2007. Waiter jobs added: 1.6 million and rising by 40K in February; manufacturing jobs lost: 1.4 million and dropping by 16K in February.
And that, in one chart, is your "recovery."

That's 30 waitresses and bartenders per manufacturing employee. That can only mean they will get great service!
#winning!
Everyone knows we would rather work in a nice restaurant than a smelly manufacturing job, especially if it is only 30 hours per week.
Utopia is finally here!!!
All part of a natural transition from a manufacturing economy to a service economy. Not a bad thing at all. It's sad that zerohedge disparages and demeans service professionals, when these people are going to develop into the future leaders of our service economy. A significant proportion of today's waiters and cashiers will one day become executives and CEOs of the world's leading service companies.
Were all the manufacturing jobs cooks?
I've tried to explain to people that you can't have an economy where everyone just gives each other haircuts and guitar lessons. Leftist Sanders supporters adamantly refuse to recognize the truth of this.
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
/facepalm
Who are those people these waiters are serving to?
@zeronetwork
The waiters serve to patrons using EBT.

That's whack!
The Billionaire Yutes of China would like to thank Clinton, Bush and Obama for their support in making them China's 'Younest Billionaires':

I run into these people too. The socialist "paradise" is very seductive to someone who has been working 2 jobs and supporting kids. I've even had 1 or 2 people tell me that we should just "get rid of money"... fortunately most of the ones I've run into can be convinced otherwise. I just tell them, "You can't get rid of money, it is an invention like any other, it would be like calling for the ban of personal computers, you just can't stop people from acting on what they know."
Irony of the day.. most of these people I talk to about this are waitresses or bartenders.
Of course 19th Century socialism theories are attractive to the low-income working class.
Hard work has not only no value in our society, it has negative value in society and is not rewarded.
I deal with shitty real estate investors. These guys aren't qualified to run a mop and bucket, or even stock a shelf at Walmart, but somehow got into RE. They run their properties into the ground, yet somehow they still drive a BMW and live a upper middle class lifestyle. Meanwhile I know people who work 2 part time jobs at about 60 hours a week, and they have to shack up with roomates to afford the $1300 rent on a 2 bedroom apartment. They drive a beater car purchased from a buy here pay here where its repairs are more money than the car itself, so they bum rides or wait for a bus that rarely shows up on time.
We already have "socialism" except it benefits the financial sector, and the rest of the working class who do REAL productive work for a living is given the middle finger.
...or not even allowed to do real work.
Eccleston rulz....
Best sarcasm of the day - you win
It always amuses me that MDB gets downvoted for what is OBVIOUSLY sarcasm and satire.
But he says it with a straight face - we need a tongue in cheek little face
Ah, but...
The more 'downvotes' MDB receives, is testament to the effectiveness (and cleverness) of his stock-in-trade...
Bravo, MDB...!!
every downvote MDB gets, it's from a dummy
Professionals! LOL
It's nice to get some optimism from time to time. Thanks MDB, I can almost see the green shoots reaching for the sky while I'm waiting for the future COO to bring my burger basket and light beer.
America's lost liberty resulted in a vacuum where greed - NOT Capitalism - took its place. Now, Your Rulers' Finery http://wp.me/p2kmGE-8M takes precedent over YOUR freedom.
Couple the vanishing of responsibility of every economic class to such an atmosphere and you get 2016.
I wasn't aware of any difference between greed and capitalism. Please explain.
Classic hypothetical:
Third grader discovers her schoolmate has no packed lunch.
Socialist: Even though there isn't really enough for two, would you like to share my sandwich today?
Capitalist: Have you anything you can offer as collateral for the loan of half a sandwich?
Non-hypothetical:
Socialist: You can't have mine. Go get yours from the state.
Capitalist: Have some of mine. You can owe me.
At a third grade level. But just as likely, a Socialist would steal the sandwich from the capitalist's lunch pail and split it with her friends so they would think she is a nice person.
We'll have to make those waitress robots with biggie boobs and bubble butts !!
As a former restaurant owner I can tell you that they are an employment revolving door. These monthly jobs numbers are reflecting a lot of the same people getting a new job every month or so
And they can do so because their healthcare is transportable under ObamaCare.
More winning!
You're right Mr Pink. Most employees in these McJobs don't make it past 90 days. The revolving door never stops.
If the government economists include as manufacturing jobs those workers whose primary job is manufacturing bullshit, the increase in the number of manufacturing jobs would be in the millions and these jobs would be mostly in the government and financial sectors.
are they still using "double seasonal adjustment"
This is how you enslave a nation. Weight it down with environmental regulation, taxes, and .gov. Then incentivize companies to offshore the jobs. We've got the economic equivalent of the Treaty of Versailles at work in Murrica.
Obama says he has created more jobs then any other president. He is correct. Unfortunately, he's created them in China:

Home of the brave. Would you like fries with that?
Helll yayahhhh and super size thayyat!!!
Sombody has got to feed us.
If evybody woikin at washin dishis and waitin tables, who gonna have th emoney to go eat to those restaruants?
It is a lizard eating it's own tail to survive. Produce nothing and consume junk to keep the false economy up until after November.
Off topic, I'm trying to figure out why there hasn't been any technical selling in MID and RUT at these levels? The only index behaving somewhat rationally is NDX. Somewhat........
All part of the Hillary Clinton election strategy.
Force millenials to work 3 jobs so they don't have time to make it to polls, bus in seniors in the AM and close polling super early. Then send Bubba to cause delays so overworked 3 crappy job enslaved millenials have to go back to work before they can vote.
Slavery provides enormous benefits to the plantation owners that do not show up in .gov statistics.
S&P 500 Past 2000!! Mission Accomplished
Good news! I had no problem getting great service yesterday at lunch at my local Irish tavern.
I had no problem getting great service yesterday in the back of an alley. And even better, student loans are helping keep the prices competitive. Two holes for the price of one
If anybody is wondering about the future of manufacturing jobs in the US, China, Mexico and the rest of the globe, just watch a few TV episodes of "How It's Made."
Well, I just left Vietnam a few days ago. A friend is an exec at a retail factory park. She says 22,000 factories just in her area alone... just retail alone, and this does not count the non-licensened ones.
She says 700,000 factories in Vietnam of all kinds.
"1,2,3,4... what the hell were we fighting for?"- 1968,somebody.
BTW, she lives in District 7... million dollar units some. Looks like Beverly Hills a bit.
Tell all the Nam Vets...
hey, get down to the REAL IMPORTANT news:

"Will work for Debt"
See what i did there
....and then the R team and D team owners has the audacity to wonder WHY Trump is so popular.
Fuck "the establishment"...the annointed ones.
So how do all these bartenders and waiters afford Obamacare ?
They're subsidized by we the taxpayers, natch.
They don't.
