Sweden On High Alert After Reports ISIS Militants Enter Country To "Target Civilians"

Tyler Durden's picture

In the last week of March, immediately in the aftermath of the tragic Brussels bombing which ISIS took responsibility for and which was subsequently revealed as organized by a semi-autonomous Brussels cell operating closely with the French cell responsible for the November 2015 terrorist attack, we reported that the Islamic State group has trained at least 400 attackers and sent them into Europe for terror attacks. As AP said, citing security officials, "the network of interlocking, agile and semi-autonomous cells shows the reach of the extremist group in Europe even as it loses ground in Syria."

The last sentence was most troubling: "The officials say the fighters have been given orders to find the right time, place and method to carry out their mission."

Fast forward one month later when one such place targeted for a new ISIS attack may have been revealed.

ISIS is reportedly planning to strike civilians in the Swedish capital of Stockholm

Earlier today Swedish media reported that officials from the local security services are in a "heightened state of readiness" in connection with a potential terror threat because according to these same reports, several Islamic State fighters have arrived in Sweden to carry out attacks on civilian targets in the capital Stockholm.

"Right now we're gathering information and intelligence and coordinating with our national and international partners,” security police (Säpo) press spokesman Simon Bynert told the TT news agency.

He added that Säpo is also cooperating with the national police service. "That means we're sharing this information with them to see if they can implement measures that fall under their remit."

The Swedish Expressen newspaper reported that the country's security service received information from their Iraqi colleagues about an imminent terror threat in the country. About seven to eight Islamic State terrorists arrived in Sweden to carry out attacks in Stockholm, Expressen sources claimed and added that "according to the information, the terrorists are planning to attack civilian targets in the capital.'

While the Swedish Security Service (Säkerhetspolisen) would not confirm the reports in both Expressen and Aftonbladet - Scandinavia's biggest tabloid newspapers - but said they are working on analyzing the intelligence received.

According to AP, there has been speculation in local media that Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf's 70th birthday, a traditional gathering for the royal family, government officials and EU royal visitors, on April 30 could be a possible target for extremists.

It is thus certainly possible that 7-8 ISIS fighters are located in Sweden now, which could become the locus of the next terrorist attack. At least 300 Swedish nationals have traveled to Iraq and Syria to join Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) according to research conducted by the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT), published on April 1. Around half of these are from the city of Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city with a population of around 500,000 people.

This makes Gothenburg the European city which, in proportion to population, 'contributes the highest number of people to violent extremism,' Swedish integration police chief Ulf Boström said last year, branding it 'ISIS's recruiting ground in the EU'.

In March, Europol also added that between 3,000 and 5,000 so-called ‘foreign fighters’ – EU citizens trained in IS terror camps - have returned to Europe and pose a "completely new challenge."

An April report in the Swedish media said Islamists have successfully infiltrated Sweden’s Green Party. According Lars Nicander from the Swedish National Defense University, there is “a very similar effect today in which people close to the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist party, are apparently gaining large footholds in the Green Party."

Finally, considering the already tense environment in Sweden, profiled most recently in "Swedes Revolt Over Refugees Near Schools: Demand "F##king Answers" From Stockholm City Council", a terrorist attack here could be just the powder key needed to unleash the next, far more violent phase of Europe's refugee crisis.

Great timing to assist Brexit..unless of course the earlier attacks were false flags, in which case I think this unlikely until after the Brexit vote in June.

And I believe this is unlikely until after the Brexit vote in June ;-)

And Sweden used to be such a nice little country. I have fond memories as a young man of weekends away from London in Stockholm (And Copenhagen) in the company of laid back (No pun intended) and stunningly beautiful blondes......

The Anglo-Zionists demand that Swedish people divert all their taxes from things such as healthcare and education to increased military expenditure - and join NATO for 'extra protection'.

What an obvious set up.  A custom created crisis. Why do people let governments do this to them?

Haus-Targaryen's picture

Yawn,

The Muzzies could blow up a Catholic pre-school and 2/3rds of the Swedish population would still vote for parties that want to bring more of them in.

When this finally does result in something actually being done, mass-deportations are going to be "best case" scenario for "Europe's" "new guests."

CuttingEdge's picture

Got to think a bit laterally to solve this problem.

The Saudis, Quatar etc haven't taken diddlysquat refugees.

How to encourage them to do so? Simple: Every refugee caught in the act of rape gets his nuts lopped off (preferably with a blunt hacksaw blade but thats probably wishful thinking on my part).

Instant Eunuchification and all of a sudden they would be the best thing since sliced bread for the goat-fuckers in Riyadh etc. All those Saudi princes' harems still need attendants, you see.

At this point, the open borders appear to be a "magnet" to attract all the terrorists to some homeland.

Once in the homeland then "the plan" is to get and eliminate the "attracted" terrorists on home turf.

Of course, before then the people catch some major flack and die.

Instead of spending billions to "go there" to their countires, we invite them to the Western world (for free).

It is the only thing that makes sense...but it is wacky.

The plan sucks.

The devil is in the details.

Just read iAmerican´s posts between the lines to confirm this saying.

I did. Obviously an agent provocateur. Or a bot. Can't really tell the difference. This site is developing into more and more a fishing site for those kinda things. I think it also doubles as an instrument of propagating way too

negative news. It's track record as a sooth sayer in economic matters for last 8 yrs has been dismal and a lot of people have missed out on wealth by getting transfixed to this doom industry. Secondly it seems to serve as an instrument to break civic spirit and will power.

Do they think we are that stupid? And secondly we obviously know much more about them than they do about us. It loks more and more like an MO.

But yes, I concur with your opinion Thom.

Check out my series of posts in the Brexit article that made Tyler bury this highly read and commented article. This is the first time I noticed a "pull it" action by Tyler. Also, now the ZH server is in Amazon (US) when it used to be in the OrtCloud (Switzerland).

Brexit is not going to happen, latest polls say only 20% now want to leave. Seems the scare tactics have worked.

EuroPox's picture

You are simply incorrect!  The poll you are alluding to asked how many people THINK the UK will Brexit - not WANT it.  The gloom, evident in their thinking, is clearly influenced by Qa'moron's fear campaign and the visit of the PissPotus!

In fact the latest poll (ICM yesterday) has Brexit ahead by 2%  http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-poll-idUKKCN0WO2MN

It's so sad that insulated politicians make these ASSININE moves allowing half the tent lovers on the planet, and wonder why their ONCE Utopian like country goes to HELL.Too bad ISIS doesn't head straight for the leaders, and behead them.Maybe then the EU and the rest of worlds 1%er's would have a change of r get theirs cut out FIRST.

PS the name Barbara Specter Lerner should ring a bell..... that cunt is pure evil.

peddling-fiction's picture

These people like strutting their evil in our faces.

Literal meanings of last names:

Specter: something that haunts or perturbs the mind, or, a visible disembodied spirit

Draghi: dragons (symbol for Devils)

Soros: serial (in Hungarian)  used to describe a person who repeatedly commits a similar crime or carries out a similar bad act, or the crime or act itself.

Very fitting and in your face.

Time the Swedes stopped voting for the facilitators of their own destruction.

It has been astonishing to watch a wealthy western country sink into the shit and commit suicide by migrant.

Sweden stands as a warning to us all - don't vote for 'progressives', they are traitors.

And all in the name of Political Correctness. These are all US created problems. Islam will NEVER integrate so by continuing to be a US vassal, Europe is guaranteeing its own downfall. Europe needs to stand up to Washington and tell it go fuck itself.

VWAndy's picture

Some house cleaning might be a good place to start.

Ghordius's picture

"And all in the name of Political Correctness. These are all US created problems."

from my perspective, a lot of Western PC comes indeed from the US, for US domestic reasons. but Sweden is the premier "PC-generator" in europe, and there is a lot of "cross-fertilization" of PC going on between Sweden and the US. (no comment on that "vassal" thing, that word imo has lost it's meaning in discussion)

the Dem's Washington pivoted to Asia. the Rep's establishment... too. a lot of things happening here... are because of that... decrease of US focus on this part of the world, and increase on specific parts only

philipat's picture

Shit Ghordi, what's with the samll type recently? Some of us are getting a little older and need reading glasses, which aren't always clsoe by....

philipat's picture

There are, of course, many who believe that this is a deliberate policy by the US (And/or the NWO neocon crowd) to "Divide and conquer" in Europe WHILST it makes its "pivot" to Asia. Fortunately, the US economy will soon collapse so we might see an end to some of this BS. Trump (With whom I have lots of disagreements, particularly torture and the Geneva conventions) will at least TRY to put an end to the neocon doctrine. In the meantime, business as usual, and FU Europe.

Nice try by Obama in Europe but it didn't go down so well? SA neither?

Never One Roach's picture

Americans [with an IQ >75] are voting for Doalnd Trump. They are tired of the presnet leaders -- both Democrats and Republicans -- destroying America.

HowdyDoody's picture

The so-called 'progressives' promoting this are people like Babrbara Lerner Specter and George Soros. I presume you are using 'progressives' as shorthand for 'Israel-firsters'

EuroPox's picture

Not just the Zio lobby; I mean 'Progressive' as in the misnomer used by Greens/socialists/Democrats/etc.. It has nothing to do 'progress', in fact, quite the opposite, they are dragging us back to the dark ages under the banner of 'inclusiveness and fairness'.

Spot  a trend here?  Progressives have no interest in progress; Greens should be 'Browns' (cos that is the colour of the shit they are dragging us through); there is nothing sociable about socialists; and, there is certainly nothing democratic about Democrats.

It used to be much easier just to call the whole lot of them "commie bastards".

Ghordius's picture

yes, the world was simpler when the only opposition was those commie bastards

but progressives do get that name from the fact that they usually paint a rosy picture of the future, while conservatives paint a bleak one, most of the time

progressives, of course, paint that rosy picture of the future... and then ask for funding, and effort, and this includes for them inclusiveness and fairness

conservatives, on the other side, tend to focus on what could go wrong, and what has to be preserved, unless it might get lost

from an ideological point of view tangible in the european political parties, our progressives are (classic) liberals and socialists, while our conservatives include most of the "Greens"

the US political spectrum... I could not say. both parties look (classic) liberal first, with some flavour added for differentiation in the "wings" second

so no, progressives have interest in progress, their vision of progress. and socialists are sociable, when it suits them

imo there is a kind of... nostalgic thing going on for the return to simpler time, among some. back to a bi-polar world, where it's all "White Hats" versus "Black Hats"

alas, a retun to multi-polarity, as we are witnessing, blows that simplicity out of the picture. I suggest some adaptation to that

Haus-Targaryen's picture

You do realize, that in Germany for example, the SPD is seen as the "progressives" while they are the anthesis of "classic liberals."

Ghordius's picture

beware of "anthesis", in politics. they are very seldom, and often only portrayed as that

three... dimensions. Soc, Lib and Con. i.e. Equality, Liberty and Fraternity, like X, Y and Z. politics is "quid for quo", "tit for tat"

take my example for a very moderate "National Socialistic" party: the Scottish National Party

conservative Fraternity of "We, the Scots"... coupled with (some) socialistic Equality, leading to "Our National Oil reserves"... without the rabid anti-Liberalism of the Hitler Bunch of Goons

to recap previous ponts: "Progressive vs Conservative" might be descriptive of the US politics, but in europe you need three dimensons to explain the landscape

and often it's one or two dimensions... where the question arises if it is at the expenses of the third or not

Hitler, for example, was rabidly against everything ever connected with (classic) Liberalism, and his politics were at the expense of all kinds of liberties, starting with financial, btw

the ruling class of the UK during the Victorian Age was rabidly against everything ever connected with Equality. this led to inequality where some today would find it unacceptable: the dispossession of the poor from their sustaining "commons", their helplessness in courts where they had no voice, their deportation to colonies for the "crime" of having been dispossessed and be begging or worse

some of the "Champagne Socialist" class.... hate Nationalism, hate the Fraternity of "We, the... whatever". they hate the "discrimination" of it, they hate the history of it. Soros comes to mind, as an exellent example of a minus-Fraternity for the greater glory of more Equality (up to all people, whatever they...) coupled with more Liberty (let them go wherever they want)

of course, this is a centrist view, my view advocating moderation in politics. that's how it looks... from the middle. from the extremes... there is a different perspective

Haus-Targaryen's picture

While I read this, I agreed with most/all of it.

The only thing bugging me ... nagging in my brain, is this post assumes that the end of national sovereignty is "moderate" which I fundamentally disagree with.

And it would be better to group Hitler with Stalin & Mao as authoritarians, whereas the current Left of center parties more resemble fascism.  But I digree, what is semantics between friends?

Ghordius's picture

Haus, the utter end of national sovereignty is absolutely not moderate at all. Soros is an extremist. those advocating Globalists in toto are extremists

I would count Bloomberg, to them. I mean, look at him, travelling all the world fighting for the Oppression of the Smoker... globally, out of "concern for all of humanity"

but reflect for a moment on yourself. do you make the distinction between "their national business" and "your national business"... often enough?

do you have great respect for the sovereignty... of others?

being for National Sovereignty is too a matter of degrees. where I might find alliances a good thing... even though every single treaty is a bond on that sovereignty, a voluntary restriction

I'd hazard a guess that I am more for sovereignty... then you. you do have sometimes that approach of not respecting the national decisions of others, don't you?

you do have sometimes that approach that does not respect the borders... of others. kind of... imperialistic. If not true, correct me

EuroPox's picture

The only thing you have to adapt to is the fact the commies have changed their names!  I think the sound we all just heard was the mass turning in the graves of classic liberals who you have just likened to the 'progressives' of today and for whom the PC culture would be anathema!

TeamDepends's picture

Around a century ago in the US, the Commie Party USA realized the word "communist" was/is toxic. So, being the good lying apparatchiks they are, they simply started calling themselves "progressives". The fact that 98% of modern progressives are oblivious to this fact matters not one whit. Good little commies they are!

Ghordius's picture

classic liberals... are progressives, too. don't mistake them with conservatives

this mistake is often made in countries that have a FPTP voting method giving only one seat, and two options only

in most of the English-speaking world, you find conservative-liberal alliances vs liberal-socialist alliances... from a continental european view of things

the US Republicans are for that reason divided about painting a rosy picture of the future... or not. and fighting all kinds of socialism and equality

the US Democrats are fully "progressive", while their internal division is about how much equality vs how much liberty... while fighting conservativism for power

the litmus test of Con vs Lib is in things like inheritance. conservatives are for inheritance, liberals... often profess finding it something quaint, and are a bit... ashamed of it. they even advocate at least looking as if you do not inherit anything, and want to keep the "level ground" starting point "myth" up and running

EuroPox's picture

"Classical liberalism is a political ideology that advocates limited government, constitutionalism, rule of law, due process, individual liberties including freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and free markets."

You don't see much of that in the, so called (but really commie), progressives of today!

Ashamed?  That must be why true progressives like Tony Blair and the Clintons have chosen to live in poverty.

Greens are just the useful idiots of Oligarchy. They both hate industry and development. The Greens want to regulate every aspect of the way you live and the way you think. Oligarchs want to see you enslaved (with debt) or dead. The compromise will be Oligarchical Collectivism. Orwell wrote about it in his guide for future peace and contentment.
