Farage Threatens To "Destroy The Old EU" As Marc Faber Says Brexit "Best Thing In British History"

Tyler Durden's picture

The European Union is an "empire that is hugely bureaucratic," warns Marc Faber, telling CNBC that he thinks that "a Brexit would be bullish for global economic growth," because "it would give other countries incentive to leave the badly organized EU." The Gloom, Boom & Doom-er explained that Brexit is a risk Britain should be willing to take, and that it would not be a disaster, "on the contrary, it would be the best thing for Britain that would ever happen!"

As CNBC reports, Faber defended his case by citing Switzerland, which is not a member of the EU nor the European Economic Area, but instead operates in the "single" market. That enables the Swiss to have rights in the U.K., but theoretically allows them to operate independently of both groups.

"Switzerland is doing much better than any other country in Europe. So maybe Britain would do the same?" said Faber.

While the Swiss franc has been relatively flat in the last month, notable highlights for Switzerland include the completion of a $12 billion rail tunnel, the longest in the world.

With expectations that Britain opts to leave the EU, Faber advised that investors should prepare for a market sell-off in the immediate aftermath, but that there will be long-term benefits.

"The establishment has said that if a Brexit occurs, they lose the export market. That's not true. They can make bilateral agreements," he exclaimed.

Faber advised that European nations should turn their focus to Asia, notably China and India, when it comes to finding fresh export partners. With this in mind, he concluded that Brexit would be a positive development for Britain and for Europe at large.

Full interview below:

Rubbing further salt into the wounds of Europe's establishment, outspoken pro-Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage exclaimed that he said he would "destroy the old EU", together with 5-Star leader Beppe Grillo. As Reuters reports,

The European Union will start disintegrating after Italians pick the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement candidate as mayor of Rome on June 19 and Britons vote to leave the EU four days later, the leader of the UK Independence Party was quoted as saying.

UKIP's Nigel Farage told Italy's Corriere della Sera in an interview published on Saturday that British Prime Minister David Cameron should resign even if the 'Remain' camp won by a narrow margin in a June 23 referendum on EU membership.

"We can't lose this referendum ... there will be a Big Bang of British politics: nothing will remain the same," Farage said.

"On June 19 the 5-Star movement elects the mayor of the capital and changes Italy. On June 23 Britain leaves the EU and changes Europe. We will trigger a domino effect. After us, other northern European countries will leave, starting with Denmark," he said. "The EU is about to collapse, disintegrating in several pieces."

Will a Brexit vote be allowed to spoil the party? Perhaps an increasing number of Brits have had enough of 'Project Fear' and are uninterested in what the US president's view on their freedom is...

I love a nice Chianti with my Beppe Grillo.

No chance the elites allow a Brexit no matter what the polls or votes say.

Seared Beppe Grillo with garlic..., I prefer a glass of white, tart but not too sassy...

How about we start a DCexit here?

It would be the best thing in the US in the last 200 years or so.

To what problem is the EU a solution?

Best comment I  have read in a long time.

No, the best thing for Britain was refusing to adopt the Euro.

Brexit would be the second best thing!  ;-)

Very interesting comment Looney which I agree with.
.
I find it paradoxical that it was Gordoom Brown who kept Britain out of the Euro, not because he had vision or was acting in Britain's interests or anything like that, but because HRH Tony Blair wanted to join it to demonstrate his EU credentials (and line himself up for the EU President job at a later date) and he and Brown were at war. So he shelved the idea to spite Blair.

Newbie lurker (pixilated punk that he is) says it's hopless.  So just roll over and play dead.  Yeah, that's the plan.  That ALWAYS works.

The referendum is advisory not binding so parliament is not obliged to act upon the result. Politically it would be very difficult not to do so especially if the vote is for exit and the margin is wide, it would cause a great deal of protest. However if it is very close all bets are off on it being ignored. It was called as political stunt by Cameron in the first place, so it serves him right if it's a large exit vote that costs him his premiership.

Newbie lurker's picture

I don't say it's hopeless, I am pulling for Brexit but I think the stakes are entirely too high to leave it to the peasants to decide. A little bit of vote finagling is all TPTB need. There will be no meaningful change in Europe or in the US until there are pitchforks and torches in the streets. And, unfortunately, most of Europe was neutered long ago.

TROLL.

My sister made $14k last month hunting down trolls and infecting them.

@newbie lurker -- agree 100% that the Brits are trapped in.
The exits were sealed decades ago.
The extra votes have long since been printed.
After its all over, more and more migrants will be imported and processed so that they can vote as many times as they want and they will remain trapped.
Voting has no place in a Marxist system.
It is an illusion.
There is no fixing a Marxist system.
It has to be destroyed like the USSR and its parasites fired ad exiled.

Why is destroying Beppe Grillo so important?  I don't get it.

The Brussels MEPs all need a turn at a dinner chez Hannibal Lecter.

It's the only way we'll ever be rid of them, since voting does not work. The Banksters would just find another sleazy opportunist.

Someone said the odds at the bookie are running 6:1 in favor of Remain.  Leave pays 7, Remain pays only 1.17, on a bet of 1 (that's by the probabilities, of course the bookie takes a cut).  Also reported a poll saying that Leave had dropped from 55% to 50% support.

A little worried here ...

WTFUD's picture

Those odds have tumbled in favour of Brexit my friend.
Remain is now 5:2 On , for every £5 invested you potentially win £2.
Brexit best odds 9:4 Against best Price, for every £4 invested you potentially win £9.
2:1 is the general Price for Leaving the EU and way below the odds of 6:1 i received around 8 weeks ago.
As the voting nears i am hoping the bookmakers will be offering around Ev to Remain and i can lay off my original stake to at least break-even should my desired Exit not come to fruition.

macholatte's picture

Someone said the odds at the bookie are running 6:1 in favor of Remain.

I heard the reason is because Soros and Diebold are counting the votes.

JohninMK's picture

You heard wrong.

Diebold has no connection to the UK voting system. We use hand counted bits of paper.

mary mary's picture

You mean, Soros and Diebold are counting the OPINION POLLS.

king leon's picture

The remain in the EU price of 2/5 on is absurd, even at that price the bookies would get cleaned out. even at 100/1 that is still easy money for a big punter. The betting price is the clearest indication on how the vote will go and unfortunately we are staying.

humptyhump's picture

Nigel thinks that Diebold will let Brexit win. Silly Nigel! Voting is for morons.

 "Voting is for morons."

Says the shill for the Deep State.  If an overwhelming number in exit polls show an election has been robbed, the time is coming when no amount of lying or force will stop the tide from turning.

Not voting is for cowards or shills.

It is you who's the damn fool and myself have had enough. The time is not coming. It is here and now. You are like a wifebeater who stands before his bruised and blackened wife and says "C'mon baby - just take me back - it'll be different this time - i'm sorry -I love you - really i do -  just one more chance and then BAM - the wife just swallowed her teeth.

You've been lied to your whole life, which should be obvious, but yet "This time will be different". Ha!

I'm trying my best to get the hell away from people like you. You are dangerous. You would chastise people that know better to convince them to do what is not in their best interest. Then you'll tell us after the fact "Oh well, we'll get 'em next time."

At my timestamp of this post you have nine people who agree w/you. Sick bastards.

LickItUp's picture

Nothing that goes against the trend toward bigger and more intrusive centralized government ever wins anymore. This will be the same. Any poll that produces a result showing less than 70% support for Brexit is a fraud intended to be used by the cheaters as justification for the crooked result they produce by fraudulent vote counting. Vote fraud is VERY real and happening.

Kayman's picture

As long as you convince yourself that you are helpless the Deep State has you by the balls.

Grow a pair and vote out these criminals.  If you can't vote them out, then minimize your footprint in the economy and starve them out.

The good news is that our financial and political criminals are highly visible and like to gather in groups.

Hopefully the votes won't be counted by the same machines that counted the Scottish independence votes...

Nope that was amateur stuff.   This will be a professional shafting.

Doesnt the move in currencies outweigh what bookies odds suggest? And currency says leave. Why the fuck would you want to be in the EU other than being victims of stupidity and brainwashing?

If you're an Arab thug, you get to live above even Islamic law. In London your wives can spend the oil money at Harrods while you drink yourself stone blind.

The fall in the GBP is the Arabs soiling themselves with fright and cashing out. Free Britain will waste no time frogmarching the arselifters onto Kararchi-bound container ships. Meanwhile, the lower pound will help make British exports competitive again and help put white Englishmen back to work.

smacker's picture

As someone I know who spent his life working in the polling industry said to me
"When you create a poll, the first thing you have to do is decide what the answer is that you want. Then you have to carefully craft the questions to get the right answers. And don't ignore sequencing the questions in the right order."
.
With that in mind, we should all be very skeptical about the polling results which currently show a marginal BREXIT lead. That may be a con to get BREXIT voters to relax when they should remain vigilant and keep the pressure on.
.
