"Zika Zone" Turns Into Ghost-Town As Planes Spray Neurotoxic Insecticide Over Florida Residents

According to shop owners and managers in the town of Wynwood, Flordia – also known as the “Zika Zone” – the area has been noticeably empty of the usual crowds that form to see the local murals and shop at local businesses.

The slow down in pedestrian traffic coincides with the intensified effort by the state of Florida to combat the mosquitos which carry the Zika virus by blanketing the town of Wynwood with insecticide.

“It’s actually been pretty much a ghost town, an eclectic plant shop owner in the area, who was only able to make one sale on an otherwise busy Saturday, told CBS Miami.

Yesenia Candelario at Marine Layer told CBS that it was a “very slow, quiet weekend in the trendy, artsy enclave.”

“There’s a bunch of restaurants here and now we have new shops. So we have a lot of people come in for brunch and tourists who wanna see the murals and shop around,” Candelario explained. “But it’s not like that due to the Zika virus.”

Last week the state of Florida started a campaign to kill off the Aedes species of mosquito by spraying an insecticide called Naled over a 10-mile radius surrounding the Wynwood area.

At least 15 people in the city’s Wynwood area are believed to have been infected with the virus through mosquito bites.

According to Cornell Univerisity, the Organophosphate chemical Naled is moderately to highly toxic by ingestion, inhalation and dermal absorption.

From Cornell.edu:

Vapors or fumes of naled are corrosive to the mucous membranes lining the mouth, throat and lungs, and inhalation may cause severe irritation. A sensation of tightness in the chest and coughing are commonly experienced after inhalation. As with all organophosphates, naled is readily absorbed through the skin. Skin which has come in contact with this material should be washed immediately with soap and water and all contaminated clothing should be removed.

In laboratory tests, Naled exposure caused increased aggressiveness and a deterioration of memory and learning.

It was also shown to interfere with prenatal brain development and has a cancerous byproduct.

From the No Spray Coalition:

Naled’s breakdown product DICHLORVOS (another organophosphate insecticide) interferes with prenatal brain development. In laboratory animals, exposure for just 3 days during pregnancy when the brain is growing quickly reduced brain size 15 percent.

DICHLORVOS also causes cancer, according to the International Agency for Research on Carcinogens. In laboratory tests, it caused leukemia and pancreatic cancer. Two independent studies have shown that children exposed to household “no-pest” strips containing dichlorvos have a higher incidence of brain cancer than unexposed children.

Aerial applications of naled can drift up to one-half mile. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, naled is moderately to highly toxic to birds and fish. It also reduced egg production and hatching success in tests with birds and reduced growth in tests with juvenile fish. convulsions, paralysis, and death.

When looking at footage of the aerial spraying occurring over Wynwood, and the fact that the insecticide can drift a half mile, it is absolutely no wonder why tourists and locals would be discouraged from going outside in the area...

Why risk being sprayed with or exposed to a toxic chemical that could negatively affect you neurologically?

It is also interesting to note that the Zika hysteria has been fueled by the supposed fact that the virus causes microcephaly, a birth defect that causes an infant’s head to be significantly smaller than the heads of other children of the same age and sex.

It could be extremely risky and potentially counterproductive to fight the Zika spreading mosquitos with Naled considering the lab tests that show reduced brain size of 15 percent in animals exposed to the chemical.

CBS Miami has reported that the spraying has no scheduled time of stoppage.

Suppose it's cheaper than chemtrailing everyone from 30,000 feet. Just fabricate some Virus bullshit and everyone is willing to get sprayed with toxic shit

Town of Wynwood? LOL
That area is a stones throw from downtown Miami.

Not to worry...

Is that a Dem or GOP area they are spraying?

AlaricBalth's picture

Mostly Dem. Young, starving artists and college kids looking for the new, "in" place to be seen.

Spraying them young and eroding their brain cells make them more pliant later in life.

Wouldn't a large, close to ground detonation of our largest thermonuclear device be more cost-effective and efficacious overall? This is just south of Little Haiti and across the intercostal to South Beach, mind you. /sarc

Town of Wynwood?

Wynwood is a neighborhood in Miami, Florida, United States. It is north of Downtown Miami and Overtown, and adjacent to Edgewater. Wynwood has two major sub-districts, the Wynwood Art District in northern Wynwood, and the Wynwood Fashion District along West 5th Avenue.[1] Wynwood is roughly divided by North 20th Street to the south, I-195 to the north, I-95 to the west and the Florida East Coast Railway to the east.

Do these mosquitoes only visit Wynwood?

They must have bad travel agents.

Knukles, I live about 3 hours north of there. Can't wait until the first case shows up and they start spraying that shit up here too. I know a couple pregnant people up here, and they are really scared of this nonsense. I tell them its nothing to worry about, that the zika virus has never caused a shrunked head before in history until now, and that the course of the deformed babies is the chemicals used to try to kill off mosquitos. Their response is typically "but I heard on the news that...." and thats the end of it. The day they release some kind of zika vaccine, they will be heading to the doctor to get it first, no questions asked, not a single thought given about posible side effects, a new, untested vaccine being rushed into production, etc. Same with them dumping toxic shit where they live to kill the mosquitos. They are so well trained and obediant, they will not protest a bit.

Shrunken head syndrome is caused by the larvicidal chemical pyroproxyfen dumped in the water supply in parts of Brazil. Zika has been around for 60-70 years, but has never caused microcephaly.

So to protect themselves from a fictional boogeyman, the sheeple face a real risk of cancer from the toxic chemicals sprayed on them (and possibly Carl and me) by gubbermint or slopped on themselves.

True, there is an epidemic of shrunken brains in America, but it’s caused by watching cable news. If you believe anything you see on CNN or MSMBC, you’re probably dumber than a mosquito.

GeezerGeek's picture

Clearly all this Zika stuff is a plot orchestrated by Putin to help his puppet Donald. Miami, Palm Beach and the county between them, Broward (where I live, as does Debbie Wasserman Schultz) are pro-Hillary to the max. By November they will put the three counties under lockdown, closing the polling places.

Sigh. Florida has been doing aerial spraying for decades. The chemicals used are diluted to human tolerances but lethal to mosquitoes and some reptilian life caught in the ponds where large accumulations occur. This sounds like another woo-woo article designed to spread fear like the MSM and envirocommies did in the 1960's with DDT.

When I was a kid during the 60's in Miami they used to spray DDT from trucks and we would ride our bikes in the fog.

I guess that would explain my brain damage.

I grew up in Joisey in the 60's and 70's. All the kids in the neighborhood used to love riding our bikes in the fog right behind the truck. Our parents never said one word about us doing so. And yet, here I am 55 and perfectly healthy. Gee, who'da thunk it?

Justawhoaman's picture

Yeah... waiting for symptoms of the ZIKA VIRUS.  So far it only shows up in the blood with NO SYMPTOMS.  Facts are that the kids with microcephaly are more likely in that condition from aerial spraying and Roundup contamination.  It just gets stupider and stupider.

Paul Kersey's picture

Yeah, but could it turn the Miami real estate boom to bust?

"Miami’s boom in property values in recent years may be at an end if fears of the Zika virus, a new virus being spread by mosquitos, doesn’t subside soon, according to a report fromProperty Tax Appeal Group, a group that provides expert and professional real estate ad valorem appeals on tax assessments in South Florida.

Even recent high rental rates didn’t deter businesses and restaurants from moving into the Wynwood area, but now, that could be about to change. While high rents couldn’t affect the area’s rising costs, fear of the Zika virus might.

If it continues long term, it could cause businesses to close, which would depress overall real estate values."

The Miami market crashed 8 months ago. Prices on the high end are down 30-50% already.

Vacancies through the celings and inventory up to 28 months on condos in the $500K+ range. The mosquito bullshit just gives them dumbasses a cover for a Fed based taxpayer bailout.

But DDT is actually safe and effective, but we can't have that because it is safe and effective.  However; given that Zika is a Ft Dietrich creation...should we expect more.

Imagine what they are spraying from the planes at 24K feet 24/7 across the northern hemisphere.

GeezerGeek's picture

Let's give a shout out to Rachel Carson, the unheralded mass murder responsible for more deaths than Pol Pot.

DDT used to be popular at the Jersey shore back around 1960, and I survived several summers of being in the area that was sprayed. Did a great job of controlling mosquitos there, and no person ever was harmed to the best of my knowledge. (I did grow a few extra fingers, but that was never attributed to DDT.)

JRobby's picture
Human Health Harms

The science on DDT's human health impacts has continued to mount over the years, with recent studies showing harm at very low levels of exposure. Studies show a range of human health effects linked to DDT and its breakdown product, DDE:

  • breast & other cancers
  • male infertility
  • miscarriages & low birth weight
  • developmental delay
  • nervous system & liver damage

You left out the possible connection between DDT and the incidence of polio.

There's some interesting reading at polioforever.wordpress.com on polio, ddt, radiation and vaccines. I'm not sure that ddt use has been stopped because I keep seeing ads for pesticides containing 'natural pyrethrum'

Yeah, that's great except you have no idea of how many people exposed to DDT back then developed cancers 40 years later.  Not to mention the fact that it probably wiped out the predator bird populations in that area.  If you weren't being sarcastic in your post get a clue o.k.??

DDT causes Raptor eggs to become too thin to be viable.

I grew up in the era of DDT- never saw an Eagle, Hawk, or Vulture, anywhere in those days.

Now, since DDT has been banned- Eagles, Hawks, Vultures everywhere!

I personally witnessed this in my lifetime.

Stop repeating the LIE that DDT is safe.

except of course that the Audubon Society found more birds during the DDT years  ie robins 1941  8.4  1962 108  per observer, at xmas yearly observation). Ecology magazine reported in the 1920s that eagles were threatened with extinction because farmers, hunters and fisherman would routinely shoot them and that nesting sites would be destroyed. In new England Bald eagles had vanished by 1937 but by 1960 at the hieght of DDT use and 20oyears after the eagle preservation act the Audubon society reported seeing 25% more than 1941.
the forest service reported bird numbers doubling between 1960 and 1970.  and there is much much more if you want it.

What's 25% more than two??  That statement is meaningless if the bird population was in a vrtual extinction mode . . .

But DDT is actually safe and effective . . .

Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong on that.  As one of the posters said in reply to your comment it almost wiped out the Eagle, Owl and Hawk populations in the areas where it was used.  VERY bad stuff for anything other than killing insects and even then it was shown to be too indiscriminate to use (i.e. it wiped out the good bugs as well as the bad ones).  It also led to severe declines in the frog and other amphibian populations where it was used.  Sure, safe and effective . . . .
