Media Outrage After Trump Suggests "2nd Amendment People" Can Stop Hillary

Tyler Durden's picture

Just three days ago, as Hillary Clinton "short-circuited", we noted "the only question is whether Trump can keep his mouth shut long enough to give Hillary more chances to stick her foot in hers." Unfortunately, despite the potential for the Orlando shooter's father to play on tonight's media spin, Trump has managed to once again refocus media attention all on himself - by noting that "maybe '2nd Amendment people' can stop Hillary Clinton."

Donald Trump on Tuesday seemed to suggest to his supporters that one way to avoid a potential President Hillary Clinton getting to select multiple Supreme Court nominees would be by way of armed revolt.

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment,” Trump began.

“By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is."

"But I’ll tell you what: that will be a horrible day. If Hillary gets to put her judges—right now we’re tied, you see what’s going on, we’re tied because Scalia—this was not supposed to happen, Justice Scalia was supposed to be around for ten more years at least. And now he’s gone.”

Needless to say, the public attention fell on the bolded part, and after his quote made the rounds among the disgruntled political media and punditry, which slammed Trump for calling for "inviting violence" against Hillary...

... Trump spokesman Jason Miller released a statement:

It’s called the power of unification—2nd Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power.

And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won’t be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump.”

Another apparent Trump spokesperson on CNN added that:

Trump should not be held responsible because he is "inarticulate at times" and not a professor in "grammar."

In response, the Clinton campaign spokesman Robby Mook said that “This is simple—what Trump is saying is dangerous. A person seeking to be President of the United States should not suggest violence in any way.” Others from the Clinton staff responded on Twitter, with spokesman Ian Sams blasting Trump's "new level of unacceptable behavior."

Justin Barasky, the spokesman for the pro-Clinton super-PAC Priorities USA sent the clip out to reporters with the comment "THIS IS NOT OK."

Former CIA director Michael Hayden told The Daily Beast that "If someone outside the hall had said it, I suspect the Secret Service would've considered it threat and detained the individual for questioning."

Democrats pounced on the comments, with California Democrat Eric Swalwell tweeting that the Secret Service must investigate Trump's "threat,"...

While progressive group MoveOn released a statement calling on Republicans to reject Trump's campaign in response.  Sure enough, the secret service got involved:

And just like that, the back and forth begins, and the mainstream media now has a new "Trump topic" for the news cycle over the next 48-72 hours, although the irony of Hillary Clinton proclaiming someone 'dangerous' or "suggesting violence" is too much for some to take.

Unfortunately, it looks like something along those lines is baked into the cake already, I don't think there is any stopping it. Those who keep pushing for gun control are going to unwittingly trigger a holy shit storm of epic proportions.

And its ironic to hear someone who has bragged and cackled with glee at the mention of a former head of state getting a bayonet enema on national TV accuse someone else of enciting violence.  How many countries has she helped destroy? She may not have personally actually killed anyone, but I doubt there is a person alive with more blood on their hands than her.

So all the Leftist that are beating and shooting Trump supporters don't matter. Hillary is dangerous and Yes the 2nd Amendment is there to protect everyone so that the Saying "might makes right" is equalized by "one finger karate" aka a gun. Here is a little secret, no one trust the main stream media .

The "Don" could fart on national television and the media and the Clinton campaign would declare he's using weapons of mass destruction.

You project your malevolence on your opponent.

What Trump said could be taken several ways, and of course the MSM is going to interpret it in the way that it thinks paints him in the worst light.  The problem for the MSM is, confiscation equals civil war.  We gun owners aren't going to put up with anymore shit.

MalteseFalcon's picture

If you parse what Trump said in an agonizingly  lawyer-like way, perhaps, maybe there is a hint of aggression.

Meantime Hitlery supporters have straight out called for Trump's assassination.

The media's  and Secret Service's reaction to that?

Where's the Carl Icahn story?  It should be ZH pinned! >:-@

"I still question the pundits that said, 'Oh, it's great, we're a service economy,'" Icahn said. "What does it do? What does that mean? We sit around and just text each other. What do we produce?"

"And eventually who's going to take our paper?" he asked. "We're living off imports that everybody loves the dollar, but sooner or later that's just going to blow up in one week. I mean, it's going to happen. It's happened in history. I don't think it's debatable. I don't even think the economic gurus of the Democratic party are going to debate the fact that we must be able to compete."

Icahn said the stock market is a mirage and he's not the only person in his circles who think that.

Evidence from ‘The Truth Division’ shows that if you look at social media, Trump is killing Hillary!
Trump: 10,174,358 Likes Clinton: 5,385,959 Likes
Trump has nearly double the amount of ‘Likes’ that Clinton has!
When comparing recent ‘live streams’ on Facebook:
Trump Live Stream Post — 135,000 likes, 18,167 shares, 1.5 million views
Clinton Live Stream Post —11,000 likes, 0 shares, 321,000 views
Trump is crushing Clinton.
Trump: 10.6 million followers
Hillary: 8.1 million followers
Trump has 30% more Twitter followers — and they translate into real votes. A recent study confirmed that 70% of his followers are real supporters, and 90% of those real followers have a voting history.
Who knows if Hillary followers are even real?
Youtube Live Stream
Trump: Averages 30,000 live viewers per stream
Clinton: Averages 500 live viewers per stream
Trump has 5900% more live viewers than Clinton. That’s plain devastation!
Trump: 2.2 million followers
Clinton: 1.8 million followers
Trump has 22% more Instagram followers.
Trump: 197,696 subscribers
Hillary: 24,429 subscribers
Hillary for Prison: 55,228 subscribers
Hillary for Prison’s Reddit feed has more than double subscribers of Hillary’s Reddit page, equating to Trump having 700% more Reddit subscribers.
Hillary is proving that she is a terrible candidate. No one likes her and no one trusts her for very good reason but the media will not report without bias.

Still, with these idiotic talks, Trump is willfully sabotaging his own campaign.

All politics is violence.

"All political power flows from the muzzle of a rifle"

The fact that these limousine communists in politics and the media are willing to send uniformed, state-employed armed men to rob you, beat you, tell you what to think, how to raise your children, send your children off to die for them in some foreign shithole, deliberately destroy your ability to earn your own way in ther world, how much of your labor you can keep, how to run your business, what you may and may not say...fuck them.  ALL POLITICS IS VIOLENCE, IT IS ROOTED IN VIOLENCE, IT IS SUPPORTED ONLY BY VIOLENCE, IT IS THE THREAT OF VIOLENCE EVERY DAY.  So they don't like it coming back at them?  Now there's a fucking shoker.

gonetogalt's picture

El Vaquero actually nailed it above. Trump was talking specifically about gun control legislation, not the occupant of the White

hut, (well, OK, but tangenitly).

His reference to Scalia and the make up of the SC was directly toward gun legislation/SC rulings redefining the 2nd Amendment.

The implication of course, is how many will say "molan labe" to a move for house entering, number registering, confiscating .gov types, and therein is the real threat. Not a fucking assination of Cankles.

Even Duncan Hunter, who I generally like, danced around the issue. I couldn't understand that. Like an elephant in the room, he wouldn't go there. Weird.

A little perspective for those who came in late.  This is Scott Adams from the 5th of June 2016  Pay especial attention to that paragraph that contains "... for my personal safety ..." and the one above it:

"I’ve decided to come off the sidelines and endorse a candidate for President of the United States.

I’ll start by reminding readers that my politics don’t align with any of the candidates. My interest in the race has been limited to Trump’s extraordinary persuasion skills. But lately Hillary Clinton has moved into the persuasion game – and away from boring facts and policies – with great success. Let’s talk about that.

This past week we saw Clinton pair the idea of President Trump with nuclear disaster, racism, Hitler, the Holocaust, and whatever else makes you tremble in fear.

That is good persuasion if you can pull it off because fear is a strong motivator. It is also a sharp pivot from Clinton’s prior approach of talking about her mastery of policy details, her experience, and her gender. Trump took her so-called “woman card” and turned it into a liability. So Clinton wisely pivoted. Her new scare tactics are solid-gold persuasion. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see Clinton’s numbers versus Trump improve in June, at least temporarily, until Trump finds a counter-move.

The only downside I can see to the new approach is that it is likely to trigger a race war in the United States. And I would be a top-ten assassination target in that scenario because once you define Trump as Hitler, you also give citizens moral permission to kill him. And obviously it would be okay to kill anyone who actively supports a genocidal dictator, including anyone who wrote about his persuasion skills in positive terms. (I’m called an “apologist” on Twitter, or sometimes just Joseph Goebbels).

If Clinton successfully pairs Trump with Hitler in your mind – as she is doing – and loses anyway, about a quarter of the country will think it is morally justified to assassinate their own leader. I too would feel that way if an actual Hitler came to power in this country. I would join the resistance and try to take out the Hitler-like leader. You should do the same. No one wants an actual President Hitler.

So I’ve decided to endorse Hillary Clinton for President, for my personal safety. Trump supporters don’t have any bad feelings about patriotic Americans such as myself, so I’ll be safe from that crowd. But Clinton supporters have convinced me – and here I am being 100% serious – that my safety is at risk if I am seen as supportive of Trump. So I’m taking the safe way out and endorsing Hillary Clinton for president.

As I have often said, I have no psychic powers and I don’t know which candidate would be the best president. But I do know which outcome is most likely to get me killed by my fellow citizens. So for safety reason, I’m on team Clinton.

My prediction remains that Trump will win in a landslide based on his superior persuasion skills. But don’t blame me for anything President Trump does in office because I endorse Clinton.

The rest of you are on your own. Good luck."

BuddyEffed's picture

Any way of finding out if the Secret Service had a pointed talk with Scott Adams yet? Seems to be very appropriate, doesn't it?

Trumps own comments regarding the 2nd amendment and Scott Adams comments are similar in nature and can be seen as veiled threats and the psychology leans towards trying to incite one of their followers to act with bad faith while feeling they have a justification for doing so.

That's ugly.

Is Trump trying to tacitly strike a deal here, with some wacked out feeling disenfranchised 2nd amendmenter?

cheech_wizard's picture

So Scott Adams is a self admitted pussy who will likely die from a bayonet enema. What difference does it make?

Scott Adam's words, not mine (I live outside the US), and his orginal intention was for his articles to be a light-hearted look at Trump and the elections through the lens of persuasion technique.  (It can be infuriating to see what he ignores - he is purely looking at the persuasion angle.)    Scott has written umpteen blogs praising Trump's persuasion skills, every time being careful to note that he doesn't know if Trump would make a good President, but like he says in this article, no-one listens to that line, no matter how many times he says it.

The whole "endorsing Clinton for his own personal safety" is funny because it is true, except that makes it not funny except that makes it even funnier.  Then again, I'm not there.  Perhaps you can only appreciate the amusing side of it when you live on the other side of the world.

I've been reading Scott's "Trump persuasion series" since he first mentioned it and it was only ever supposed to be a light-hearted look at what is happening over there.  He could see all these "persuasion triggers" happening and wanted to mention them.  He couldn't ask anyone to take him seriously because a lot of what he said sounded dumb ... until things turned out the way he said they would turn out.  If you've got the time, it is worth reading what he was saying a year ago, when Scott first noticed that Trump was NOT the dumb-ass that the media was portraying him to be.  Scott was calling for a landslide Trump win when everyone else still thought Trump was a joke.

That's not a call for violence in any way, shape, or form.  It means that if Hillary is elected, maybe the gun lobby ("2nd amendment people") can prevent the appointment of anti-2nd amendment judges.

Odd what "outrages" American media like CNN and NPR.

Not Bush's nonexistent WMDs......

...not Bush's lie-based Iraq War with over a million casualties...

...not Barrack's bombing wedding parties or hospitals...

...not Hillary-backed destruction of Libya...

...not the 24/7 bombing of innocent Syrians ...

...not the brutal islamic terrorist massacres in Orlando or San Bernardino...

...not the muslim gang raping of inncoent girls throughout Europe ....

...not Hillary Clinton's lawlessness and her subsequent failure to be prosecuted....

But a few common sense words or phrases from The Donald and they [pretend to] go beserk.

It's no wonder why Americans hate the media.
