Mystery Deepens Around Fate Of Julian Assange

Tyler Durden's picture

The following tweets posted by WikiLeaks yesterday set off a massive bout of speculation over the fate of Julian Assange who has been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for nearly 4 years.  There has been much speculation that the sudden change in support for Assange from the Ecuadorian government was prompted by political leverage being asserted by the Obama administration to thwart the release of emails that are proving to be very damaging to the Hillary presidential campaign.

Now, just this morning, WikiLeaks sent the following tweet, quoting "multiple US sources," saying that, in fact, John Kerry personally asked the Ecuadorian government to shut down Assange and his leaks of Clinton's emails.

Obviously, despite their efforts, cutting off Assange's internet access has done nothing to slow the release of emails.  But, as the Associated Press has reported, those close to Assange, including staffers Kristinn Hrafnsson and Sarah Harrison, have gone silent while the Ecuadorian embassy is refusing to provide any updates on Assange's fate.

WikiLeaks staffers Kristinn Hrafnsson and Sarah Harrison did not return repeated messages seeking comment. A woman who answered the phone at the embassy said she was not authorized to say anything.

Of course, the real question is to what extent the Ecuadorian government has been compromised and what that ultimately means for the fate of Assange.  Clearly, Assange has made numerous enemies over the years with his repeated release of confidential information that has been somewhat embarrassing for many world leaders.  Certainly, Hillary's opinion on how to handle Assange was made quite clear when she asked, "can't we just drone this guy?"

According to various media outlets, the Ecuadorian government has offered no immediate comment on the question of internet access, but foreign minister, Guillaume Long, confirmed that Assange remained under government protection and affirmed that his protection would remain so long as the "circumstances that led to the granting of asylum remain."  Loosely translated, the full statement reads as follows:

"Faced with the speculation of the last few hours, the Government of Ecuador ratifies the validity of the asylum granted to Julian Assange four years ago.  We reaffirm that his protection by the Ecuadorean state will continue while the circumstances that led to the granting of asylum remain."

According to Reuters, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has been an ardent supporter of Assange's right to free speech though he admits to having a personal relationship with Hillary Clinton and has suggested he would like for her to win the U.S. presidency "for the good of the United States and the world."

The government of leftist President Rafael Correa has long backed Assange's right to free speech, though the Wikileaks saga has caused some strain in relations with the United States, including the expulsion of diplomats in 2011.

Correa, whose term will end next year, has said he is behind Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who he says he knows personally, in the U.S. presidential election.

"For the good of the United States and the world ... I would like Hillary to win," Correa told broadcaster Russia Today last month.

As we draw nearer to November 8th, we suspect that the "political leverage" applied by the Obama administration against the Ecuadorian government will become ever more intense.  Given the increasing level of political pressure he will certainly face in the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see just how much President Correa truly supports "Assange's right to free speech."

Assange and the world are essentially playing a game of chicken.

I am sure Assange has dirt on 9/11; War on/of Terror; Drug War; Sandy Hook; NWO; how fucked the world economy and our collective future really is; ETs/UFOs; various unknown weapons systems; WWII Truth and this is his doomsday data dump.

It is this set of documents that, as soon as they are made public Assange is dead before the day is out -- if he isn't already.  It would additionally be the end of the world as we know it.  IT would keep turning, but would be materially different.

I would also assume it is an active data dumping system.  E.g., he has to enter a specific code every week or every two weeks to prevent the automatic release of the keys to unlock these files.

She those in power kill the guy and this stuff gets released -- they are all hanging by piano wire in the not too distant future.  They know this.  Thus they have a vested interest in not killing the guy -- or if they do doing it so that they have the maximum amount of time from when they kill the guy to when this stuff goes public to get the public distracted with something else.

Or they let Assange play his little game.  He has an agenda, he has his bosses he has to answer to.  Perhaps some of the Anglo-American power structure can retain their power/money/status if they let Assange take a few of them out.

No idea how this ends.  I assume there is a ton going on behind the scenes that we will never know about.

Ever wonder why Milo gets banned but Wikileaks doesn't?

Interesting times we live in.

Skit.  If that really showed up on CNN, Pravda in 1983 would be credible in comparison.

The timing of Assange's "disappearance" implies that the real damaging goods were just about to be spilt.  I hope he had a backup plan to dump all of the emails before the election.  Cynic (or realist) that I am... I still think that no matter what bit of extra villiany is exposed about the witch, it still won't change the sentiments of the amoral fence-sitter voters still undecided.

Unfortunately, no other nation, including Russia will overtly extend assistance to Assange. There is just no economical benefit, but only a political liability. He can only continue running and knock on doors....or release all he has, then surrender.

Hey Loftie, previously known as mofio then santafe then Aristotle of Greece then Gargoyle then bleu then oops then most recently lance-a-lot.

You are a serial spammer and a serial pain in the ass. Might I politely suggest that you go fuck yourself? And get a life.

PS. You might have noticed that my attempt to expose you for what you are is always the same. That’s because your Spam is always the same (Using fake links to your BS site which has no connection to your comments, which are deliberately dramatic to encourage people to click on the fake link) so it seems only fair that my exposure of your crap should also always be the same. An eye for an eye.

When they decide its time for him to go away permanently they will do it the good old fashioned way - Bomb the Ecuadorian embassy and say "oops, we must have used some old maps"

Wikileaks was just a clearinghouse for hacked emails and information. The people who actually have all of this Clinton shit are untouchable {I'll leave you to guess who they are}. As soon as a new third party conduit can be found or created, the hacked info will flow once more, probably over the next couple of days. It's too bad what happened to Julian and the girls, add them to the long list of murdered truth-tellers.

And that is because the 'fence-sitter' voters as you describe, could care less about policy.   This is about the cult-of-personality, driven primarily by hatred of what is right and good.    Much like her wife during the 90's stint, these people are not but a reflection of that binding hate.   A petulant child in other words...

Backups are EVERYWHERE those hashes will be used to confirm downloads Wikileaks already has in the wild.  The security keys to open them will come once Assange is gone. Which unfortunately seem inevitable.  If he isn't gone already, and unles sI see proof of life within a week or so i will assume he is.  That visit from Pam may have been a mercy mission.  Be taken and tortured, or eat the cyanide "Vegan Meal" while Washington tries to discredit the leaks that will still come out because as I said, it's ALL on the net already.

The Hillarity emails are just the crust.

The dump will include the bulk of the Diplomatic Cables which have yet to be released.

That is Assange's Life Insurance policy.

That release will ensure a HOT World War.

And I have made a decision NOT to choose evil. The choice for the lesser of two evils is still a choice for evil. There is nothing amoral about abstaining from choosing evil..In fact my choice to abstain has everything to do with my Chirstian Morality. I am focused on the Kingdom of Heaven and not on Earthly kingdoms.

I refuse to place any faith or condidence into the Governments of Men as they have only repeatedly proven corrupted and full of wickedness.

It was a learning process. That I must admit. I was sinful concerning that.

But from decades of bitter disappointment from my unrealistic expectations of others I have learned to depend on God first and then myself.

I have learned that it never works out and people are subjugated by the tyranny from their own Governments and that any Freedom or Liberty is merely a farce.

Why participate in a farce and a fraud? To become bitter? To become disappointed yet again? Why repeat the process when the result has been consistent no matter who is chosen?

So you can choose evil as you please. Just be accepting of the consequence that thou shall reap as he sows.

You sow evil then you reap evil.

You sow the lesser evil than you shall reap a lesser evil.

Yet it is still evil that ye shall reap, lesser or greater..

Your real choice is to choose evil or to abstain from choosing evil. But you will choose evil and I will not stop you nor will I want to stop you. I value freedom and liberty for all I want you to learn, from experience, as I have, as my words ring hollow to you.  And I am okay with that.

It is still your choice.

You still can

Vote No Confidence on November 8th

Now I want you to write how my choice is amoral. I have demonstrated that it is based on morality. Use logic and attack my arguments to invalidate them.

Tarzan's picture

I always enjoy reading your comments, I'm not bitter, nor disappointed, and mostly agree.

Would it be evil to write in a righteous man?  Is there such a thing?

Did God not appoint men, of which all have fallen short and non are righteous, to authority?

I wonder if WikiLeaks could smuggle in about 12 body doubles of Assange in a laundry truck and then wait for a shift change or a pre-arranged distraction. Assange could disguise himself as a female cop or SJW and escape in all the confusion to a waiting mini-sub standing by on the Thames somewhere.

Guys MSM will not give us what we want because we have no control over them and they have zero responsibility to us. They are paid from pockets much deeper than their audience.

We just have to create your own media preach critical thinking (especially against authorities) and educating ourself, how to navigate this political minefield, to get rich and be independent of all this bs.

Anything else is just playing the political game as described above!

Is it REALLY satire? Was SNL REALLY satire?

Or is it an unending jab at Trump to make him appear more of a joke every day. I would be willing to bet that not ONE person blogging or reading here KNOWS Trump personally. Every fucking thing we know of him has been presented to us in some form of media. This is a media war and while Trump's opposition is limited in their intellect and content, they are unlimited in their quantity and complete immersion. This is a death by a thousand cuts and while this is an obvious "joke" it is not intended to be a funny one for anyone but those who despise Trump. We STILL recall how Palin claimed she could see Russia from her porch...or did she? The parodies became reality and THAT is what is happening here. Discount it at your own peril.
