Confusion Surrounds Wikileaks Data Dump

Tyler Durden's picture

While it is unclear if it was done on purpose or by mistake, or if it is new disclosure moments ago a folder within what appears to be the Wikileaks server seems to have opened at the URL: https://file.wikileaks.org/file/ which provides a glimpse into thousands of doc, pdf, wav, jpg and various other files, as well as dozens of subdirectories including Videos, Syria-files, Collateral Murder, Japan Bribery Affair, and many others.

Alternatively, this may be just a release of old Wikileaks files repackaged without a website wrapper: some readers have pointed out that some of the files in the directory can be found online.

It is unclear what the basis of this disclosure - if indeed that's what it is - although some are speculating that it may be the release of one of Wikileaks' so-called insurance file, if indeed the information proves to be new and credible.

Had to look fast Freddy up.

That is the theory. But, as Wikileaks has learnt, dumping material onto the information market, with no exclusivity, diminishes its perceived value. In August 2008, to sustain Assange's press-release theory, Wikileaks tried to auction a leak containing over 7,000 emails from the Venezuelan ambassador to Argentina, Freddy Balzan. The emails charted Balzan's split with Hugo Chavez, recall to Venezuela and demotion. The venture failed because of the logistical problems. "There were then 50 stories about the fact we were auctioning the material," says Assange. "But none about the Venezuelan documents in hand."

I dunno, man.  This is the kind of stuff you do before you close down the shop.  Dump all inventory.

Arnold's picture

Pretty much a scattered variety of stuff.

Crash Overide's picture

This could be multiple data grabs from different sources piled into one directory with folders.

If this is a raw dump, expect random files.

Law of averages dictates random file spill over?

Just a guess.

My last pay check was $9500 working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out. This is what I do... http://tiny.cc/fl53fy

Right click the link and "save-as"   it plays fine in my browser.  mp4 file

Global Hunter's picture

It says "player can't play because file corrupted" or something to affect of that.  Maybe its my player/computer?  I'm not most computer savy person.

What is it?

Troy Ounce's picture

If it says "file is corrupt" it did not happen.

Man_of_red_earth's picture

File is not corrupt, right click, save to disk. File is 206MB in size, VLC media player opens and plays the file as expected. When I tried to open it in my browser sound played, notihing else.

Global Hunter's picture

TY for your explanation. I attempted that but I do not get an option to save to disk an error message appears.  If there is anything worth listening to I will have to rely on others to summarize for me.

I'm sure when he's found dead all the cucks who called him disinfo and such won't do much after the fact.

Herd Redirection Committee's picture

If you tell 95% of the truth, but omit or lie about 5% that is disinfo.

By not revealing everything he has, he is automatically disinfo IMO.

Liberty2012's picture

You're assuming that any one person can know 100%. Not possible. There's always more to know, more to learn.

There's a duality to everything. The truth is both absolute and limited. Absolute in that it exists; Limited by our ability to discern.

This is also a chance for anyone to put files in wikipedia's mouth, and ruin his reputation for honesty.

You folks aren't paranoid enough.

Those guys are modern heroes fighting against the Cthulu of the government. This monster is extremely hard to kill and those guys may have actually found it's weak spot - now they are paying the price.

Let's hope they have enough dirt to get out of this alive , or at least bring down institutions with them.

They know they are dead men walking if the coup is unsuccessful. Let's hope it is and the firing squads commence for the war criminals, cutting the heads off the snakes may neuter the others that will morph into Clark and Lois in hiding. There supposedly are $100 million each bounties on the oligarchs and they have already been banned from travel to certain countries.
