Caught On Tape: Filipino Police Run Over Anti-American Protesters As They Storm US Embassy

Submitted by James Holbrooks via TheAntiMedia.org,

As Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte continued his four-day visit to China this week, a political demonstration outside the U.S. embassy in Manila — held by Filipinos supportive of Duterte’s promise to break his country’s dependence on the West — turned violent on Wednesday, with Filipino police actually ramming into and running over protesters as they attempted to disperse the crowd.

“There was absolutely no justification (for the police violence),” one of the protest leaders said. “Even as the president avowed an independent foreign policy, Philippine police forces still act as running dogs of the US.”

The demonstration was led by an affiliation of activists, mostly from indigenous Filipino peoples seeking an end to Western imperialistic control of their country. Such groups have held similar demonstrations in front of the U.S. embassy in the past, nearly all of which remained peaceful.

There was an altogether different vibe to Wednesday’s rally, however, with demonstrators from the beginning hurling red paint, bottles, and rocks at police officers and destroying a U.S. government seal. Some called the police “puppies of imperialists” through loudspeakers.

Police initially doused the protesters with fire hoses, but the unruly crowd managed to overpower the cops, break through the police corridor, and proceed to write anti-U.S. slogans such as “US troops out now” on the embassy fence.

It was then that officers turned to more drastic measures, firing tear gas into the crowd of around 1,000 people and eventually driving a police van through the demonstration. In all, three protesters had to be taken to the hospital and over 20 wound up arrested by police.

Police say they had to resort to force to prevent the protesters from storming the embassy. “We had to disperse them. They started it,” Chief Inspector Arsenio Riparip told AFP. “They were trying to enter the embassy. We had to use tear gas. They overpowered our policemen.”

As to the use of the police van, Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde said:

“They weren’t really run over. The (protesters) were trying to flip over the patrol car. In the process, the driver extricated the patrol car and inadvertently hit some unruly protesters who sustained minor injuries.”

To the demonstrators, however, Wednesday’s events serve only to reinforce the notion of Filipino police as an extension of U.S. will. In a statement issued following the protest, a group representing indigenous Filipinos said:

“This protest serves to highlight the imperialist plunder, abuses, and continued domination of the United States in the country.”

In an article published Tuesday titled “The US Just Officially Lost the Philippines to China,” Anti-Media explained how President Duterte has just made it abundantly clear that the future of his country will unfold within the Chinese umbrella, not that of the U.S.-led West.

“It’s only China that can help us,” he told China’s state-run newspaper Xinhua.

And regardless of how the Filipino populace feels about its leader’s pivot toward China, it appears a great many citizens are more than happy to go along with his agenda to move away from the U.S.

The blood of these people is on the hands of Duterte for inciting violence, just like Trump incites violence at his rallies. All of this could have been avoided if Duterte had maintained reasonable mainstream views and encouraged compromise rather than conflict. Right wingers always have to turn everything violent.

I'm with the police on this one - agitators should not be allowed to do whatever the fuck they want.

Exactly, why even bother, Duterte is already heading towards China any ways.

Duterte will make the Philippines the next Tibet, autonomous in name only, and the Filipinos will suffer.  That’s what happens when you give a violent six-year-old the reins of power.

You think being a US ally chafes?  Wait until you feel the yoke of Beijing—and taste the ball gag that stops you from saying your safe word.

Beijing would treat them like business partners. The US, on the other hand, has been treating them like prostitutes. The Philippines has been gang banged long enough.

Funny how it was the leftist. Seems they don't get to throw a fit and get away with it there.

You talking about Hillary?

I'm ok whith that as long as the citizen can do whatever the fuck they want to thwart the rape and pillage of their country considering it does not take a legal scholar to determine if a crime is being committed. Oh, wait, the preamble to the constitution states just that. Back on topic, this is huge kids, the U.S. has officially lost their global dominance without going to war to enforce what they consider to be theirs. Prepare accordingly, start saving your gum tinfoil, old rubber tires, condoms, lead, and copper for the war effort because they will need it.

Parents, Prepare your Snowflakes for combat, take down their participation trophy's and lock the safe space doors.

Sorry but it was Hillary that incited riots at Trump rallies.  It is on tape dumb ass.  So Hillary could not deny it last night.

You seem to confuse "people" with "government", or as we tend to call it "Washington".

Sorry, Duterte wasn't home at the time. Those people were exercising their own judgment and took their own calculated risks. Nobody but the protestors and the driver of the police vehicle are responsible for what transpired. But, feeling sorry for your lack of judgement, I upvoted you anyway. It's the progressive thing to do.

Boy you are a dimwit. It is Hillary and her people who caused the violence at the Trump rallies, they were caught training and paying off the people who were inciting the violence. The Communist Hillary and the Communist Duterte are both extremely corrupt and only care about themselves and profiting off of their criminal actions. You are either a troll, a dupe or a fool, perhaps all three.

Riot Driving 101    That's what I call it. I teach it to ALL of my family. People can find themselves in similar situations any time these days. While you should not travel unarmed, at least be ready to utilize all of your resources, including your vehicle...

Duterte is the type of leader who would have colaborated with the Japnese during World War two, he is a Communist shill.

How dare they object to being occupied. Bastards.

Wouldn't rule that out. Storming an embassy is not smart as it has political repercussions. It were the usual suspects too, leftist. The leftist group Suara Bangsamoro and Bayan. Dangerous games people play. That's for sure.

Probably not a good idea to protest there.

Hillary is going to announce that this protest at the US Embassy against the US in the Philippines was caused by a terrorist video on YouTube.

Quick question to all you scholars. Why do we give even one wet shit about the Philippines? Is this more of that 60's & 70's domino theory bullshit again? - Signed, Curious

LetThemEatRand's picture

I'm no scholar on these matters, but it is strategically located and the US military bases there are critical for US operations in that region of the world.  Empires need bases.

LadiesLoveCoolJames's picture

I'm sure we have some fucked up 99 year leases that pay $3000 per year rent like in Cuba. President Ladyboy will have a hard time digging out the American tick.

Bay Area Guy's picture

I believe the US closed both Subic Bay and Clark. A quick look at Wiki shows no US bases of any kind in the Phillipines.

Duc888's picture

We were supposed to have been building 5 new smaller military bases there.

I'm pretty sure that's off the table now.

Again, Duterte is trying to get the government money spread out to all islands of his country.  His policy is to change the total corruption in Manila which is like a giant vacuum cleaner regarding tax revenues.  There were literally thousands of investment projects planned and under-way from just the US alone.   Resorts, Condominium projects and a shit ton of subdivisions, many many real estate projects and such.  All that shit changed with FACTA.  90% of American investors pulled the fucking plug on everything, leaving 1/2 built real estate projects scattered all over the islands numbering in the hundreds.

So you see... Duterte was like, "ok Fuck this shit, We'll get other countries to invest in PRIVATE sector projects."   US greed closed the door and others will fall into place and invest, it's that simple.

It used to be a fantastic opportunity there to invest in R.E.  Start a corporation, do a 50 year lease and you only need a Filipino partner as a formality.  There are several ways to set up the corp so as you retain control over the operation, through the dispersion of shares.  The one stumbling block was finding clear title on the land, but that is not insurmountable.  Then Uncle Sham came along and fucked everything up.

damicol's picture

You are so right .

But there are still investors coming. I set up almost 300 corporations in Phils for overseas clients.

Not all RE but many privately held BPO's to wash profits through with SLA's linked back to their businesses in the US.

Easy to beat FATCA, just need to know what to do and funny enough many banks in Phils now also get it and can be very accomodating like issuing numbered ATM debit cards that you can draw over a $1,000 a day through the worldwide ATM's.

We even get some laminated hre to make them look like club cards etc and discount cards and they don't emboss the letters on them so impossible for anyone to know thates cards can shovel $380,000 out of ATM a year untraceable and tax free.

Love the ingenuity of the Phils. even the RE you can fix in just a couple of days a Prtivate corporation buy the mland or building and get a 50 yr lease with guarantted 20 yr automatic extension.

Which is longer than any lease you can get on a London poroperty.

It is going to be a superb tax haven for Americans now especially as language is all in English too. And I cn hear already Mr Duterte  telling the IRS to go fuck themselves regarding any enquiries
