NATO Continues To Prepare For War With Russia

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Peter Korzun via,

NATO uses any pretext to accuse Russia of harboring aggressive intentions. It has raised ballyhoo over the recent deployment of Iskander short-range surface-to-surface ballistic missiles to the Kaliningrad region.

Time and time again, the alliance reaffirms its bogus Russia narrative. “We see more assertive and stronger Russia that is willing to use force,” concluded NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg speaking at the round table in Passau, Bavaria on October 10.

At the same time, NATO is pushing ahead with its military "Schengen zone" in Europe.

"We are working to ensure that each individual soldier will not require a decision at the political level to cross the border," said Estonian Defense Minister Hannes Hanso.

The idea is to do away with travel restrictions on the movement of NATO forces troops and equipment across Europe. There will be no need to ask for permissions to move forces across national borders. It will undermine the sovereignty of member states but facilitate the cross-continent operations instead. The Baltic States and Poland are especially active in promoting the plan. The restrictions in place hinder rapid movement of the 5,000 strong “Very High Readiness Joint Task Force”.

Besides being the first response tool, it could be used for preventing Article 4 situations, such as subterfuge, civil unrest or border infractions, from escalating into armed conflict. The troops can move freely in time of war, but introducing a NATO Schengen zone is needed for concentrating forces in forward areas in preparation for an attack across the Russian border. The formation of the much larger 40 thousand strong NATO Response Force (NRF) is on the way.

Meanwhile, the US and Norwegian militaries are discussing the possibility of deploying US troops in Norway – a country which has a 200 km long common border with Russia. The deployment of US servicemen would be part of a rotating arrangement in the country that would fulfil a "long-standing US wish." Norwegian newspaper Adresseavisen reported on October 10 that 300 combat US Marines could soon be in place at the Værnes military base near Trondheim, about 1,000 kilometres from the Russian-Norwegian frontier.

The air station also serves as part of Marine Corps Prepositioning Program-Norway, a program that allows the Corps to store thousands of vehicles and other major pieces of equipment in temperature-controlled caves ready for combat contingency.

Several defence sources told the newspaper that the plans to put US troops at the military base have been underway for some time. According to, the information that the plans are underway was also confirmed by American Maj. Gen. Niel E. Nelson, the commander of Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa.

300 Marines can be easily reinforced. The only purpose for the deployment is preparation for an attack against Russia. After all, the Marines Corps is the first strike force. And it’s not Russian Marines being deployed near US national borders, but US Marines deployed in the proximity of Russian borders. The provocative move is taking place at the time the Russia-NATO relationship is at the lowest ebb.

In February, it was revealed that US Marines were using Cold War era Norwegian caves to store new tanks, artillery and other military equipment to ramp up their presence near the Russia-NATO border.

The military began using the caves to store military equipment in 1981. With the Cold War over, the costs of maintaining the caves were transferred to Norway. The cave complex is back in active use now holding enough equipment to support some 15,000 Marines.

According to Heather Conley, the director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies' Europe Program, Northern Europe is now being viewed as a “theatre of operations”.

These steps are taken against the background of the already highlighted plans to boost NATO’s presence and intensify its military activities in the proximity of Russia’s borders.

The war preparations are taking place at the time Germany - the European economic giant – has announced it wants a more assertive role in European defense and plans to significantly boost its defense expenditure.

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen noted that the German Finance Ministry has accepted to increase defense spending by to a total of 10 billion euros by 2020 for the procurement of equipment and personnel. “Germany is ready to engage ... to take more responsibility…This is the right path, but it will require an enormous commitment of time and money", she stressed addressing a biennial gathering of 200 high-ranking military officials in Berlin on October 17.

The alliance is trying to whip up tensions in Europe to reinforce its relevance in the ever changing world. It needs a fictional enemy to keep it together. Without attracting much public attention, NATO is actively involved in military preparations in the proximity of Russia’s borders. Neither the plans for the military “Schengen zone”, nor the deployment of US Marines in Norway, nor Germany beefing up its combat potential have been on the radar screen of Western media.

One provocation follows another against the endless drumbeat of Western media reports about “Russian aggression”. The war preparations greatly reduce European security and the chances for revival of constructive dialogue between Russia and NATO – something Russia has been calling for so many years. Instead, the bloc is doing its best to provoke an arms race with unpredictable results.

Lol just let this fucker blow already. Regardless of who wins, this system needs a big reset. I have a feeling that if Trump wins, they'll say the Russians were behind it and the election is declared void then WWIII. If SHITlary wins, then WWIII

It's what snivilizations do.

I agree with DD -- lets just get this thing to reset already.

I feel like we are in a holding pattern just waiting for something to go *bump* in the night.

Let's just get it over with already.

Consider all the asymetric options Russia has at its disposal in a confrontation with the West.

Now consider how ridiculous a land invasion of neighbouring states without any vocal Russian-speaking minorities would be.

Loopy. NATO is busily preparing for an enemy that isn't there.

It is transparently about the US maintaining its relevance in Europe. End of story.

War is about land reform and avenging old insults.  Modern day weapons are pretty efficient in causing mass destruction.  Kill off your enemies and give the land to your friends... at least that was the plan for 1930's Poland and Ukraine.

Good article by Michel Chossudovsky if you haven't picked it. Apart from everything else it gives you an insight into who will be running the Pentagram for Hillary if she gets in.

Under a Clinton presidency, a new Secretary of Defense as well as a new Chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, firmly committed to “A No fly Zone” over Syria would be appointed. Michèle Angelique Flournoy, a former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy is Hillary’s choice for the position of Secretary of Defense, who favors the “No Fly Zone” option.   According to Defense One:  ”The woman expected to run the Pentagon under Hillary Clinton said she would direct U.S. troops to push President Bashar al-Assad’s forces out of southern Syria and would send more American boots to fight the Islamic State in the region.”

Confirmed by the Leaked Emails Michele Flournoy is a crony of the Clintons. She has “called for “limited military coercion” to help remove Assad from power in Syria, including a “no bombing” zone over parts of Syria held by U.S.-backed rebels.” This is tantamount to a no fly zone to protect the terrorists including ISIS Daesh from actions by Syrian and Russian forces.

Scared much?

Is this NWO cabal a "French feminist" thing?

I mean we have Agent Orange running the IMF and now this Michèle Angelique Flournoy to lead US troops into battle (from her bunker)...starting to see a pattern.

Interesting to note the rumour about Hillary's hating men in general and soldiers in particular, allegedly on account of a sexual assault in her youth. Might be the reason she wants a woman in charge of the boys in uniform?

Imagine for a second you are some 29 year old F-18 flying Navy hotshot.  You are sitting in a briefing room on one of our aircraft carriers stationed in the Med.

You are told that a no-fly zone has just been instituted over Syria by newly-inaugurated President Clinton, and the Russian Air Force has just started the largest bombing operation since 1945 in responce.  You are further told your F-18 E/F Superhornet is being armed exclusively with anti-aircraft missiles.  No bombs or anti-tank missiles.  This is unusual from sorties flown previously in the region.

Your mission is to enforce the no-fly zone and shoot down any aircraft of any origin breaching the no fly zone.

You hear through the scuttle-butt the balance of the Russian Baltic fleet and the entire Russian Black Sea fleet has just set sail and through Navy Intel you've heard two battle-groups of Chinese and Iranian ships, of which the Liaoning is at the core have just been spotted off the coast of Djibouti sailing towards the Suez Canal at full speed.

A French and British battle group has also set sail for the Cypriot/Syrian coast, and Turkey has begun warming up their entire Med and Black Sea fleets as well as called up all active reservists.  Iran has recalled all diplomatic missions save those in China and Russia.

In less than 18 hours there will be more naval vessels in one place than at any time since the Battle of Jutland.

You know you are up against Mig-29s and SU-35s as well as S-200; S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.  Rumor has it the S-500 is also present, which means the moment your wheels leave the flight-deck you are a target capable of interception by a missile capable of Mach 6.  At these distances it gives you 2 minutes to react.  After 5 minutes in the air reaction time is measured in seconds not minutes.

You cannot outrun that missile, even at altitude at full speed.

Other information -- wife back home has 2 year old and you just heard you're gonna be a dad again with your second child.  Wife is 5 months along.

Your chances of coming back are slim, you are not told this but its painfully obvious.  What do you do?

A) Start WW-III

B) Refuse orders, Naval career is over and you likely spend time in jail.

C) Other (please explain)

Haus-Targaryen's picture

I think in a situation such as the above, those who are "awake" in the American military would make their presence known and fairly quickly.

Depending on how many stand up and are counted will dictate our strategy.  I imagine this is something Military Intelligence has spent a great deal of time on since the "I'm not going to be Al Quada's air force" fiasco back in 2014.

Other things to think about:

God knows how many submarines are in the Med.  You know what is said about modern navies, there are targets and then there are submarines.   If you refused orders you'd likely be arrested on site and jailed on the ship.

You would be in a jail which is in the largest taget within 1,000 kilometers if things were to go hot.

Surviving that would also be unlikely.

HowdyDoody's picture

B) would more likely be shot for desertion of duty than jail time.

Haus-Targaryen's picture

I don't think he'd be shot.  Could you imagine the destruction of morale?

If it was me, I'd fly the sortie but refuse to engage "enemy" aircraft and just pray to God the whole time the Russians have cool heads and aren't interested in starting WWIII either.

The next best option, if survival is your goal is to try and land at the Russian Air Force Base with all equipment onboard the aircraft and defect.  In exchange for the aircraft I'd want enough cash to start over + the Russian government to somehow secure my wife and kids safe travel to Russia.

There would be no going back at that point.  I think defecting would be the best possibility of survival (e.g., see your kids again), but it would make your wife and kids' lives materially more difficult.  Tough situation.

Third option: fly toward the Russian airbase in Syria, at low speed and with transponder on, and follow landing instructions from the Russian air traffic control.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Anyone who volunteers to fight for monsters like the Bushes, Clintons or eObola is a fool.  I hear many of the dindus get desk jobs.

I would bet the platypus nosed SU 34 could take on an F-18 in a pinch.

I know a guy who does sales and real estate stuff claiming people can make big money.  He said he had a Marine who got out who begged him to teach him how to make money.   He was sick of taking side merc gigs.  The guy said he would but the former Marine likes the merc money where he probably makes $10k a month working for Blackwater/Xe/Academie or whatever they call themselves.  I bet some of those boys got killed in DOnetsk and Lughansk plus in Syria.

The British are fully prepared. They recently held a military readiness demonstration exercise, called "Putin, are you watching?". The explosions were all produced by a commercial pyrotechnics firm used by Hollywood.

The British military spokesman said ""We used to specialists, because they are experts in the field of explosions that look spectacular, but do not eject hot metal shrapnel. Clearly, we did not want anyone to hurt or killed ".

The enemy was supposed to be Russia, and it was equipped with the latest equipment such as T-54 tanks.

Lets hope that the pyrotechnics company isn't already booked by someone else when WW III starts.

The Su-34 is a derivative of the Su-27 airframe and powerplant so it has a fair chance.

The problem is that you have a family home. You should learn to never be attached to anything in this world. Atleast I did. Even if you have a family you should realize the only one who cares about your family is you. Sadly the reality is that most people are only concerned by they're own well being, because of the genetic programming life is. The world is what we make it, and we have made it a living hell.

To answer your question the military brainwashing would probably make it so you would belive that you had no choice other then giving your life to save your family even though thats just simply not true. The longer you believe in certein beliefs the harder to see them for false, which is one of the reasons why there is a maximum age limit on enrolling into the millitary.

They 'pick' only the people who they can control. They pick smart, cockstrong, patriotic non thinking, following order kind of people. There may be a few slip through the cracks....but overall, this is the FP mindset they look, these guys aren't told all of these things. Here is what they hear from leadership:

1. You are the best

2. You have the best equipment

3. You have the best training

4. The Russians are 'evil' and are killing children in Aleppo.

5. The President says this must stop so YOU must stop it via the no-fly zone we have created.

6. Your wife and kids lives depend upon YOU doing your job and stopping this menace.

This is the lines they will be fed. They are not exposed to ANY outside sources so they can't see through the BS and make their own decisions....even if they could, they have been trained and endoctrinated to do so. If anyone things these guys will be making decisions NOT to enforce the NF zone if the American President calls for it....I need some of what you are smoking.

C) Write a manifesto about why you are not willing to blow up the world for Jewish bullshit.  Have it ready to send to multiple contacts back home.  Maybe send encrypted, in advance, and then send the password disguised in an email message.  Maybe have someone else ready to spam it if the military keeps you on lockdown.

When the time comes, unleash your manifesto, then fly into the Knesset, low and fast.  It's close to the coast.  You might catch the Israelis with their pants down.  They probably don't have the latest Russian missiles.  At least your kids would know you died gloriously.

Anyway, I don't want war. War is pretty bad. phisically and mentally it's really big shit. For the US it's easy, for EU it will be crushed within 24 hours and millions deaths. No please no war.

If Trump wins, I truly hope he will be wise and move back all the troops from the Russian border within the first 100 day.

IF there is going to be war, I hope many Europeans and those military employees from the North Atlantic Terrorist Organization are wise enough to screw their orders and desert from the SOROS funded war. I think many eastern Europeans will think the same as I do, fuck the war, we're not going to take part of it. Let the US sort it's shit out but leave us alone in peace.

What makes you think the war wouldn't touch American soil, especially if it touches Russian soil?

Bay Area Guy's picture

Exactly what my thought was when I read that comment.  If there's a war, there's no country in the Northern Hemisphere that will be left unscathed.  I just hope the Aussies and the Kiwis have enough sense to stay the hell out of this fiasco.

World Cash Day's picture

Of course it will touch American soil.

Russian military doctrine is crystal clear. If you set foot on our turf militarily, whether that is by boots on the ground or via a missile attack of any sort, we reserve the right to strike back at you wherever you are in the world by whatever means we deem necessary.

Obviously, in the case of the American soil, that means a nuke exchange.

If you're in America, when this shit starts - head North - over the border North!

Because the CONUS was relatively safe, almost untouched during the last two World Wars and the subsequent regional ones, only Europe and Asia that suffered the war destructions!!

That partially explains WHY the Vichy regime in D.C. is practically ADDICTED to wars, and the people of CONUS are rather apathetic, ignorant about their .gov waging wars in many parts for they suffer only a little or even none!!! The American people have no traumatic experiences over wars, they even seem to enjoy the butchering shitshows of Afghani, Iraqi, and Libyan one-sided flattening in their flat screens.

looseal's picture

I agree with your assessment of the current situation.  But I firmly believe it is very foolish.  If other nations, such as Russia and China, do not have corporations and bankers who profit from war, those nations may just bloody our collective noses to wake us up.  How would Americans fair with limited resources, such as gasoline or food?  We get so many products from overseas, port disruption would make us less comfortable.
