Russia: The West Is Trapped In Its Own "Propaganda-Created World"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by James Holbrooks via,

As the American corporate media continues to tow the official line that Russia is working to undermine U.S. elections, the head of the U.K.’s MI5 spoke with the Guardian on Tuesday. It was the first time an acting spy chief has given a newspaper interview in the agency’s 107-year history, and the subject matter important enough to prompt such an atypical occurrence was hardly a surprising one — Russia.

Or, more accurately, Russia as the big bad enemy.

“Russia increasingly seems to define itself by opposition to the west and seems to act accordingly,” MI5 chief Andrew Parker told the Guardian. “You can see that on the ground with Russia’s activities in Ukraine and Syria. But there is high-volume activity out of sight with the cyber-threat.”

“Russia has been a covert threat for decades,” he continued. Then, evoking the U.S. election hacking hype, he added, “What’s different these days is that there are more and more methods available.”

And according to Parker, Vladimir Putin’s Russia is utilizing these methods in “increasingly aggressive ways” to project its global influence:

“It is using its wide range of state organs and powers to push its foreign policy abroad in increasingly aggressive ways — involving propaganda, espionage, subversion and cyber-attacks. Russia is at work across Europe and in the U.K. today.”

The Kremlin was quick to issue a response to the Parker interview, one the Guardian detailed in a follow-up piece.

“Those words do not correspond to reality,” spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said flatly. With regard to alleged U.S. election tampering, he added, “Until someone produces proof, we will consider those statements unfounded and groundless.”

Russia’s embassy in London, meanwhile, stated on Twitter it was “saddened to see a professional trapped to [sic] his own propaganda-created world.” Accompanying that tweet was the movie poster for the 1966 film The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming.

In the buildup to the U.S. presidential election on November 8 — and as Russian submarines are spotted off the British coast — Western nations are again amping up the anti-Russian narrative.

On October 7, for instance, the United States officially accused Russia of attempting to intervene in the U.S. political system. Then, just days ago, Western member countries of the G7 alliance agreed that continued sanctions against Russia for its role in Ukraine and Syria were “vital.”

For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s response to such recriminations has been largely one of amusement, as demonstrated by comments he made last week.

While speaking to foreign policy experts in Sochi, Putin dismissed the “hysteria about Russia’s influence on the U.S. presidential election,” adding the “mythical and fictitious” issue has been used to distract the American voter from real problems facing the United States government.

“Does anyone seriously think Russia can somehow influence the American people’s choice?” Putin asked. “Is America some kind of banana republic? America is a great power!”

A great power, the Russian president made certain to note, with a top notch propaganda arm:

“I would like to have such propaganda machine in Russia, but, regrettably, there is no such thing,” Putin said, touching on the bought and paid for nature of Western corporate media. We don’t have such global media as CNN, BBC and others.”

People may be able to save themselves, even their communities. But the West as an idea? It is gone forever. Perhaps to never be replaced again.

It all starts at a family level, then tribal level, city, county and finally state level.

But it all starts at the smallest granular level and feeds up.

Myself, tribal would be the largest allowable level; everything beyond gets corrupted.

Russian propaganda uses the forbidden technique of linking content with reality.

Putin trolls with the truth. This is unacceptable in the civilized Western world.

the truth sucks as it don't fit the imagined reality. it is called borrowed tyme. china, euro and japan are playing the same monetary game. krugman for new world order leader. the consequences will be devastating , morphing to a new reality. widespread poverty when the fiat ponzi schemes come back to real tymes. a war of epic proportions will ensue first. all this armament will be used in a winner take all showdown, inevitable due to human vanity. predictable. russia knows this. they will not sit on the sidelines and watch. they will be forced to smoke some aggressors. usa is toast if it stays the neoconic zytgiestic course with isreal calling the shots...

By some amazing coinidence, the same happened in the USSR before its fall. The political statements became more and more divorced from reality, then boom the wall was brought down.

Strangely, and again purely coincidentally, the descendents of the Bolsheviks that destroyed the USSR are now in the US.

Actually.... I believe it "all starts" when We The People determine No Law Shall Be Enacted Without First Being Ratified By The People. The fatal flaw in the Constitution is putting the People in the position of having to hire others to do their thinking and decision making. This will inevitably lead to being governed by a pack of wolves... which is where we are today. If we can do HFtrading we can to HFvoting at state and federal 'Constituent Law' sites. It would not be 'mob rule' because the mob couldn't keep up, you would have to be a registered voter and use your name when you vote for a law, to propose a law or repeal one... so the process is entirely transparent and it could be done. We only have to decide to do it.

TheReplacement's picture

So you trust the machines that have been proven to rip people off and rig elections... how precious.

There ain't no fixing it.

Democracy (which is what you describe) is two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner.  Does that sound like a good idea sheep adanata?  At least if we are going to even discuss going about that route then lets say that only stake holders get a vote and freeloaders don't.

adanata's picture

I tried to explain the process but no one wanted to read it because it was too long. We could create "Constituent Law Sites". Every registered voter could access and vote upon the laws of the land. Propose a law, vote yes/no/no merit or repeal a law; taxes, money, banks; WE make the laws. Each vote would be cast BY NAME and the process would be completely transparent. We have the ability to do it and track it ourselves.  So.... when I write it out, no one reads it, but when I try to condense the information, no one understands it. Frustrating...

The floor is about to drop away. They're isolating --->Her from her surrogates, incriminating them first, surrounding her on all side. By the end of the weekend she will stand alone in ruin.

Edit: You still need to go out and vote.

Russia, and Putin, have not been aggressive on the world stage. Which is more than can be said about the USSA. The world smells weakness and blood in the water. During such times in history there are always changes when power shifts. Power has been shifting from the west to the east for many years. Is this a problem? I don't think so. A natural progression and to be expected.

HowdyDoody's picture

Yup, now the west instead off living off the back of printed fiat, will have to really pay its way. How will that be done now everything has been looted upwards?

A new email thread released Friday shows Podesta got a March 19 email from “Google” notifying him someone had his "password" and tried to sign in from Ukraine.

The IT team told Podesta the message was legit and he should change his password. But it appears the email actually was a phishing ploy – and likely gave the world access to the contents of his account.

In the new batch of emails leaked Friday, Podesta’s assistant Sara Latham forwarded the "Google" email to Charles Delavan, a Clinton campaign IT official, to see if it was real.

Delavan told her that it was a “legitimate email.”

“John needs to change his password immediately, and ensure that two-factor authentication is turned on his account … It is absolutely imperative that this is done ASAP,” he wrote, sharing a Google link where he could change his password.  ) October 28, 2016

WikiLeaks: Email May Reveal Moment Podesta Was Hacked
Newly dumped message offers clues into how Podesta's Gmail was compromised

by Edmund Kozak | Updated 28 Oct 2016 at 11:09 AM

An email published by WikiLeaks on Friday may reveal the very moment John Podesta’s emails were hacked — and it doesn’t appear that the Russians did it.

On March 19, 2016, Podesta received an alert from Google that “someone just used your password to try to sign in to your Google Account” from the IP address — Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.

“The revelation that the attempted entry into Podesta’s account occurred from Ukraine is sure to disappoint Democrats who insist that Vladimir Putin’s government is behind the hacks.”

Podesta’s assistant Sarah Latham — who apparently knows nothing about Google or the internet — forwarded the email to Charles Delavan, a Clinton campaign IT worker, to make sure it was real.

Delavan told her promptly that “this is a legitimate email. John needs to change his password immediately, and ensure that two-factor authentication is turned on his account … It is absolutely imperative that this is done ASAP.”

Interestingly, however, it may have taken Podesta about 72 hours to do this. The date of the original Google alert — March 19, 2016 — is noteworthy, because as of right now it appears that the hard cutoff date for all leaked Podesta emails is March 21, 2016.
WikiLeaks: Email Proves Democrats Manipulate Polls
Clinton allies plot to skew results, 'we are going to try to do an oversample of seniors on the poll'

An email sent after that day has yet to be released and may not exist in the trove of Podesta emails of which WikiLeaks is in possession.

While it's impossible to say for sure that the Google alert in question is connected to the hack of Podesta's email, this time frame does suggest there could be a connection.

The revelation that the attempted entry into Podesta's account occurred from Ukraine is sure to disappoint Democrats who insist that Vladimir Putin's government is behind the hacks.

That's the phishing email. It could have said he was hacked from Ukraine, Russia, China or anywhere else in the world.

The bitly link at the bottom is where he made the mistake, by clicking on it.

Only kidding, anyone in the world can register a domain name in tokelau, you'd have to check their domain registry agents to see if there's a trail to follow.

An alternative reality?

"the need to provide evidence presumes a world in which facts matter."

Propaganda used to be subtle - indiscreet - 'believable' even.  Today it's simply blatant manipulation by an increasingly obviously-controlled media.  There are some notable exceptions but not many and certainly not enough to challenge the consensus.

Consensus is the new propaganda - it became de-facto in the push to 'prove' man-made global warming was a threat and it's now being used to to 'prove' whatever it is the establishment want us to believe is fact.

It's time that consensus was exposed for the scam it is.

Demand EVIDENCE to back up assertions - don't just fall for the 'consensus' line.

London only say what they are told to say by the world order (the clinton network) . What he say about Russia sounds very hollow and plain out idiotic to me, and sound even a little childish if you ask me. It's hard to believe this comes from grownups within the intelligence. It's totally pathetic, and they only embarrass themselves.

Once again Putin stands out to be a real politician , and makes our own people looks like arrogant fools and boy scouts , who think they can continue to play the game they played 50 years ago.

It still puzzles me why these people so desperately want to demonize Russia and make them an enemy. Putin, say that the west are trapped in it's own propaganda. He couldn't be more true. I'd rather have 100 Putins than 1 clinton.

The UK and its supposed intelligence communities and services have quite a number of pressing situations to resolve, or be ever thought until such times as they are, a pariah state thinkng itself above and beyond the reach of the law for order.

Graham C [1611030753] …… asking a few questions on

If Parliament and the Justice system do not now indict and prosecute Blair for a myriad number of treasonous offences, are they proven to be equally corrupt and accessories before, during and after the fact?  That would surely render the UKGBNI a fascist state and completely destroy the fantasy of it being a worthwhile Parliamentary democracy?

I wonder what a right Royal household cavalry and gaggle of knights would do about that, to make amends and end the abomination and perversion? Do you imagine anything at all or are they also to be recognised, by virtue of their actions and inaction, as impotent puppets rather than valuable Defenders of the Realm? And would that state of affairs be as a result of a lack of true leadership which only requires the appearance/arrival of a novel leader?!

So many leading questions begging answers.

All you have to do is take a look at American foreign polocy to see just how fucked up the entire government is.

American Foreign Policy 101

Are you confused by what is going on in the Middle East? Let me explain. We support the Iraqi government in the fight against Islamic State. We don’t like IS, but IS is supported by Saudi Arabia and a few other ME despotic states, who we do like. We don’t like President Assad in Syria. We support the fight against him by a multitude of murdering fanatics, but not IS which is also fighting against him. We don’t like Iran and Hezbollah, but they both support the Iraqi government against IS. Now Russia we really don’t like because they are not allowing us to turn Syria into another Libya. Then we have Turkey, who’s side they are on depends on what day of the week it is, so basically they are everybody’s enemy.  So some of our friends support our enemies and some of our enemies are our friends, and some of our enemies are fighting against our other enemies, whom we want to lose, but we don’t want our enemies who are fighting our enemies to win. If the people we want to defeat are defeated, they will most likely be replaced by people we like even less. And all this was started by us invading a country to drive out terrorists who weren’t actually there until we went in to drive them out. So you see American foreign policy is not that hard to understand after all.

Take Syria.

Russia wants to ship natural gas and oil to Europe through Syria.

So it asks the Syrian government which says yes. Russia help Syria to fight ISIS and Al Qaeda.

The US doesn't want Russia to ship natural gas and oil to Europe. The US wants it's allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar to ship natural gas and oil to Europe instead.

So the US invades Syria, a peaceful sovereign secular country. And the US uses ISIS and Al Qaeda, the proxy armies of the US, to kill babies for oil.

This isn't a theory. Tthe heads of Defence Intelligence and NATO have all confirmed this.

And it's confirmed with every ISIS attack and every US action to fund, train, protect, guide and strengthen ISIS.

So I don't think anyone's automatically assuming Rusia is right because the US is wrong.

I just don't want to be a baby killer and use ISIS to invade sovereign countries and kill people to make oil cheaper.

The propaganda machine ...

A little lesson for all ... when you use it to distort the reality of like "Clinton is not corrupt" the population loses the ability to determine the truth. It is also a 2 way path, the propoganda you receive is by the mindset of those promoting it.

You tell me Putin is evil, but I do not see him on Epsteins plane to a paedeophile paradise do you? That image is going to haunt Clinton now, imagine meeting her globally and you know because it has never been proven one way or the other she is a kiddy fiddler, abhorrent right? Rather chop my fucking hand off thanks and should be the penalty for all global leaders.

Imagine May or Merkel shaking her hand ... eeeewwwwww ... fuck me now they are tainted too by acceptance for all that she is.

The propoganda rule got destroyed by trying to equate "Clinton is not corrupt == true" and blatantly false.

An elite person comes up to you, unlikely or expects you to help them ... all those P2P companies etc. ... I am just going to think bunch of fucking paedophiles.
