Political Ad Of The Year?

Tyler Durden's picture

While most wait to see if The Clinton campaign is truly out of ammo in the shit-slinging competition known as the election campaign, we, like many others, had been wondering if Trump was also planning some sort of special closing argument.
As Dilbert Creator Scott Adams exhalts "he did not disappoint. In my opinion, his final ad is the political ad of the year, if not the best ever."

Here's what Adams believes makes this ad so special...

1. Trump delivers his lines perfectly, like an experienced actor. We haven’t heard him like this before. You probably didn’t think he had this in him. He stays calm and assured, but not cocky. That is an effective counter-framing to Clinton’s framing of Trump as an unpredictable madman. Here Trump comes off as perfectly reasonable and deeply empathetic.

2. The timing is perfect. This race went so low that even the trolls were starting to gasp for oxygen. Trump made us wait for relief – Hollywood style. He made us crave civility and sanity. And just when we thought it was out of reach, he goes ultra-positive. But here’s the best part. Clinton has no good options to counter this message. If she stays dark, Trump finishes as the inspirational one. If she tries to match his positive message, she has little chance of doing it this well.

3. While Obama is out talking about his legacy, and Clinton is out talking about making history as the first woman president, Trump (the narcissist) asks for the American people’s help in draining the swamp and making America great again. That’s one heckuva contrast to end on.

4. The writing for Trump’s speech is great. The editing is great. The production is great. The visual artistry is fantastic. This one will be studied for a long time, not only for its persuasion excellence and production values but also for its strategic timing.

5. Trump’s strongest message at this point is that Clinton is corrupt in a variety of hard-to-explain ways. People don’t need to understand the details. They just have to hear the message enough. This video uses visual persuasion perfectly to portray the halls of power and corruption versus the people united. The color red is exceptionally well-used. It activates us.

Adams concludes presciently: "You just witnessed something special. "

3 days and America can start it's revival.

3 days. Make it count! Because Clinton and establishment will

Paraphrasing Stalin, it does not matter who votes, but who counts the votes.

Separately, if nothing else, when the election ends, I look forward to the Clinton media trolls contracts expiring. They really are stupid.

2 days before the election, here's my summary on Clinton.

- For a moment, let's toss aside all the material relating to the Podesta e-mails, election fraud issues, and cozy media bias. Instead, let's simply focus on public service &/or legal background.

- Failed the District of Columbia bar exam

- passed the Arkansas State bar exam, & worked for the Rose Law firm, where, her main claim to fame was being on the Wal Mart Board of directors (achievements being that she failed to help get more women appointed to that board, but was silent when it came to the company's anti labor union practices).

- To say that she's had over a 30 year political career is a bit of a stretch, because the only ELECTED office she ever held was as a Senator for the state of New York. The Secretary of State position, as everybody knows, is an appointed Cabinet position. Thus, the involvement in 'politics' was purely because she was in close company with other ELECTED persons (namely William Jefferson Clinton & Barak Obama).

- Even her role as First Lady was extremely spotty (having been involved in a failed Health Care initiative, as well as scandals such as Whitewater, Travelgate, Filegate, & cattle futures trading, and uttering statements like 'Vast Right Wing Conspiracy' after first hearing about the Monica Lewinsky scandal which WJC was impeached for making false statements).

- At the urging of Charles Rangle, HRC carpetbagged her way to New York to run for the 2000 Senate seat that was going to be left unoccipied by the retirement of Daniel Moynihan. It was widely believed that John Kennedy Jr. would have been the frontrunner to that seat had he not died under extremely suspicious circumstances in July of 1999. HRC only became the de facto democratic candidate after that tragedy. Even after that, she was struggling in the polls to defeat Rudy Guiliani until a 12 hour marriage scandal derailed his campaign late in the contest. The rest, as they say, is history. It's the ONLY time HRC has ever won a political election (except, naturally, for her 2006 re-election, whereby the powerful jewish political machine including corporations & lobby, all but assured that she & jewish state Senator Charles Schumer would retain office).

- Most notable 'achievements' in the role of state Senator were 'strong support' for the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, as well as supporting the TARP bank bailouts in 2008 (both of which have been terrible drags on the US to ever hope to escape from what has become a hijacking of American economy & society in the service of government & corporate special interests)

- The Secretary of State position, as stated above, is NOT an elected office, and it was an appointment lavished, no doubt, only as a seed effort on the part of the Soros, Kissinger, Goldman Sachs, et al machine.

- The only other time Clinton ran for office, she failed to even win her own party nomination. She was defeated in 2008, by Barack Obama.

- In 2016, it is now widely believed that she would have failed AGAIN (vs. Bernie Sanders), if it had not been for what has been exposed to be a rigged election (within the Democratic Party).

- Now she faces Donald Trump in yer another challenge. Interestingly, if you turn the calendar back 15 months, this scenario wasn't even in the remotest forecasts of her political team. It was more likely 'planned', that an easy to defeat 'stand in' (like a Jeb Bush, Rubio, or, Grandpa Munster Cruz) to play the role of handpicked doormat).

So now, NOTWITHSTANDING ALL OF THE SWIRLING ISSUES THAT HAVE COME TO LIGHT IN THE PAST 9 MONTHS

1. illegal use of private e-mail server during tenure as SOS

2. Podesta e-mail dump

3. 'pay for play' tactics at the Clinton Foundation

4. revelations of voter fraud (vs. Bernie Sanders)

5. biased media coverage (which led to high level firings of media figures)

6. coercion involving the Department of Justice, & FBI (namely Lynch & Comey)

7. pedophilia ring allegations

8. cult worship practices within inner circle confidants & advisors

It's, quite frankly, U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E & impossible imagine that this person, who:

- had an inglorius reputation to begin with

- was actually only elected to one position (and by any examination of the failed attempts, would lead one to conclude that she's UNELECTABLE)

- The one position that ended in success, 'mysteriously' seemed to require a timely death (JFK, Jr.), & scandal (Giuliani), to get to the finish line on.

& yet, here we are... UFB!

It is pretty good for the "stay on point donald crowd".  at this point in the election with a lead you play it safe and let the other boob goof up.

My favorite ad and I think his best one was the Les Deplorables ad he ran back then. I just love the music and the way it builds to the end and the positve message with the world leaders fight against globalism it had.

Thought I saw the satan in that video, but I watched it again, and saw it was only Lloyd Blankfein.

Only Lloyd Blankfein? The man is Lucifer incarnate!

Good video, the unedited 5 min anti-establishment clip from which some of it was drawn was far more emotive for me. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EYozWHBIf8g

But this toned down version is pretty good too and probably appeals to a larger cross section.

I also wouldn't mind a health advert, you'd be surprised how subconsciously reluctant we are to elect leaders with serious known health issues.

It is a great advertisement. It says everything that I want to hear. That ad cannot have been any better.

But there is this corrupted institution called CONGRESS. And you robots will vote in the person becaise they have an R following their name.

And they VOTED FOR OBANACARE TWICE. THEY VOTED TO FUND IT...SO THEIR OWN STOCK PORTFOLIOS GREW IN SIZE.

They are SELF INTERESTED and can give not one damned care about YOU after you cast your ballot on Tuesday.

And, once again, you will be bitterly disappionted as you seek guidance from the wrong venue. You misplace your faith, hope, trust, and confidence into that which can NEVER PROVIDE SOLUTIONS AS THEY ARE THE PROBLEM.

And you can bet that I will be here to remind you about it for the next four TEARS...TEARS IS NOT A TYPO...You will garner more than enough of those.

And do not give me bullshit about a revolt. Most of the vast majority here have no belly for that...no guts for it.

LibertarianMenace's picture

All you've stated is absolutely true. But, it can be discounted at the outset prior to yanking a lever. Once the problem is recognized, it can be considered half-removed. .guv is a blunt instrument always will be, that's why its appeal must be avoided. What happens though, when I can't avoid IT? Voting at the ballet box, with your feet, or a firearm, in that order, are the only alternatives.

Voting's not a friggin cure-all, but it can be useful to play defense, that IS ALL.

Now, if Broom Hilda is elected, is the Klintstone FBI investigation as likely to continue, less likely to continue, or will we be left asking what happened to the investigation? I don't think it's too hard to agree that if Trump is elected, on the other hand, that there will be a entirely different answer to the question.

@Tall Tom  - Hey Tom, Were not as blind as the other side.  Tea Party's voted out the old establishments last time around.  This time around I did the same for the old cronies.  MSM wont cover it, but the REAL reason Romney lost, was because he screwed over the tea party Republicans at the RNC.  Shut us out of it (as if we weren't repubs at all!) didn't hear our voices, and so as with myself and many others, when voting time came the end result was:

"Screw us? Screw you! We all will go down together then!"

My vote penned in Ron Paul, others penned in mickey mouse etc.  -YES Romney SHOULD have had it in the bag, but he screwed over part of his party, when all we needed was SOME consensus!  THROW US A BONE MAN!

This election, Hillary Clinton did the same to a large portion of her voter base, which were anti-establishment Sanders voters. (their tea party if you will) and she was caught with her hand in the cookie jar, SCREWING HIM OVER.  Sadly for them, Sanders can be bought (sheesh! Socialist! Blah!) But Ron Paul could NOT!

Anyhow, no doubt some Dems will crawl back to her, holding their noses, and support the criminal who STUFFED their prefered elected official; but MANY WILL NOT FORGET/FORGIVE!  Some will vote for Trump, others wil simply STAY HOME or throw away their vote (LIKE I DIDin 2012)  this marginal loss will turn the tide, and it should!

YES I SUFFERED 4 more years, attacking the constitution, 4 more years of WAR, and worse of all for my family, FORCED INSURANCE that doesnt cover jack $shit!

BUT- there was a message that had to be sent to the republican party!  And we sent it!!!!

Tall Tom's picture

What the Republicans did to Ron Paul is unforgivable. That is when I realized that there is no hope in this, at the Ballot Box, or none in Government, and that my faith, hope, confidence and trust was misplaced.

Hopefully after this you will too..

It is politically edited leaving Bushes and Nixon(gold standard) off. The selling of America could not have happened without both parties. Trump is not perfect; no one is .But, he doesn't look like a globalist at this point. Time will reveal only if he wins. If Clinton wins the America idea is lost. You are right about Congress, not enough courage nor integrity in that group.

Socratic Dog's picture

That speech has been circulating at least a week, I sent a previous version to a few friends.  As I understand it, it was a public speech, not studio.  Although I'm not too sure about that, it does sound a little like it's been compiled.  Either way, I'd guess we haven't heard a speech like that from an important political figure since, I dunno, MLK's "I have a dream" speech?  If he means what he says, he really is a Hedger's wet dream.  Well, I think we're going to find out, in the very near future.

e_goldstein's picture

It was good, my only complaint about it is that there were no Bushes in the part where he was blaming the "failed policies of past politicians."

Dr. Venkman's picture

Wouldnt it be interesting if the Obamas were trying to dig up shit to push back on Clinton blackmail and discovered it missing. thats my guess.

On the bright side, the Clintons didn't blow up the national archives like they did the Murrah building...

yet.

I agree.

Some comments are too long and they are things that you could drop a link in to the ORIGINAL MATERIAL after posting a sentence or two.

This is the original material, not published elsewhere.

The writer is telling the truth. It is comprehendable. He has a right to say what he is saying. There is nothing unfair, coercive or manipulative about it. Nothing in it is even offensive (and this commenter can be offensive).

@Ms

The moment to write such a summary came to me last evening. Frank(ly) ;-) ~ It originated on the heels of your comments in the 'Spirit Cooking' thread.

Basically, I took your 'stick to the facts' notion and said to myself. "OK ~ if we're gonna do that, let's just REWIND the entire kit & kaboodle and eliminate everything that has surfaced during the past year".

Let's see if, viewed with that lens, she'd be ELECTABLE (under any normal semblance of human reason). It's pretty clear that she's NOT (given the fact that the only elected position she's ever held was as a NY State Senator, and the circumstances surrounding that are murky to say the least, or, to put it another way ~ you'd have to make a strong argument to convince anyone that she would have ever won that seat to begin with if JFK Jr were still alive).

The bottom line is that most people (even those who will vote for her), don't like her.

The cartoons that ZH puts up from time to time of HRC being 'propped up' like the Iwo Jima memorial should win the 'picture = 1,000 words' for 2016.

MsCreant's picture

Thanks for letting me know that. Flying straight and true, it's what we want from the Donald and from each other. This thread is about persuasion. Nothing more persuasive than the truth. Shines like a diamond in the night. It is where integrity lives. We crave it, at least I do.

You wrote a good post for the reasons I state here and above, I would bet Hockeyfool did not read and petulantly dropped the comment without knowing what s/he was commenting on.

Love your screen name by the way.  ;-)

Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Somewhere, somewhen, the people who run things got together to gloat about their achievements and plan their future exploits. They had just convinced America to elect a gay drug addict with zero creditials and a completely opaque background to be president, not just once, but twice. How could they possibly match that deed yet alone surpass it? Then they smiled when they realized what their next move would be. And so we got this election.

I do hope Trump beats the Wicked Witch of Arkansas and even more I hope that his victory wasn't part of the plan.

MsCreant's picture

"I do hope Trump beats the Wicked Witch of Arkansas and even more I hope that his victory wasn't part of the plan."

I am a chump. That video got tears welling up in my eyes. The Donald knows what I want and he is selling it to me. But is that all that is going on, I am being "sold" something by someone who is a good salesman?

I used to be in sales long ago. The skill set I cultivated there serves me well, still, as an academic. I followed the Don a little bit as a young person interested in sales. If you believe in your product, you are golden. If you don't, you are a con man, that part is kind of nasty.

If the Don is part of the plan and he gets in, we are well and truly fucked. I worry about that.

What is probably true is he is pulling out every resource to "get in" and then he is going to have to wing it. When he wings it, will it go fascist? Or will he get off on fulfilling the identity that he is selling here? Let's hope he really wants to be "the people's choice." Let's hope he wants to kick ass and clean house.

Fantastic summary. Three things stand out - her judgement is very poor; for someone aspiring to be a career politician she is not very good at it; she is not likeable.

I can't believe she has managed to blackmail enough people to be the DNC nominee. All these things forecast very poorly for her in general elections and regardless of poll numbers, Americans tend not to elect douchebags.

1 minute in the morning on 9th November 2016, that is 00:01 eastern time you can start, no more shit future because the future starts in that instant of time wether Trump wins or not.

The enemy is clearly the establishment across the board in everything if he loses and that has been amply shown these past few months.

The question is will the elites, oligarchs throw Clinton under a bus and allow Trump?

It is their call, it has always been their call and all that follows it their choice!

Me, personally, I believe in genetically eradicating the 1% across the board but I am democratic so whatever shit show the majority want is good by me.

Oligarchy is bad, but mob rule is not an improvement. Would you really want the illiterate EBT crowd to determine policy?

"Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths." -- James Madison, Federalist No. 10, 1787
