"Massive Blocks All Went Off At The Same Time" - Investors Dump Stocks, Bonds, Oil, & Gold As Dollar Soars

Tyler Durden's picture

The Dollar Index just broke to fresh 13.5 year highs, up an unprecedented 10 days in a row. The USD buying panic began as US equities opened...

and sparked selling in every USD-priced asset as stocks, bonds, gold, and oil all tumbled...

As Bloomberg reports, “Massive blocks in several asset classes all went off at the same time,” including UST and E-mini S&P 500, Mischler Financial trader Glen Capelo said; “Must be a program of some type”

Obama's fault.

Woooo!  Feels good to get that off my chest.  I think I'm going to be saying that a lot over the next 4-8 years.

I hate BaraK bin Obomaman too. But we should try and work past teh narrative and idiocy of the 4 yr political cycle. And the idea that presidents actually control the economy.

Pure Evil's picture

If you go out and sell yourself to the rubes as the Great Messiah promising "Hope" and "Change".

And the only thing you have to offer is Obamaphones and shovel ready jobs then you deserve all the blame when your administration heaps endless fiat money on Wall Street and political cronies while the rest of America collapses into a economic depression.

And, let's not forget writing legislation that sucks more dollars out of US consumers pockets into healthcare insurance companies coffers without offering any real benefit except for the fact that you get to pay medical premiums to them all the while you also pay for your medical care due to high deductibles.

All the while secretly writing trade agreements that only move even more jobs offshore.

Then, yes, you do deserve the blame for the continuing dismantlement of the US economic system.

So, don't sit here and piss on our heads and tell us its raining by telling us not to blame someone that willing went out of his way to destroy the country economically.

By the way, Obama can shove his and Hillary's head up his ass and suffocate.

Why? Because he breathes through his anus?

A US Dollar wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. But definitely fuck the Federal Reserve Note.

0.7734 troy ounce

SILVERGEDDON's picture

Get it right, Fonestar.

The  .7734 oz. only applies to the pre 1964 silver dollars.

American Eagles are one ounce of silver.

When you hear people talk about de-dollarization did you have a picture in your head of the dollar relentlessly falling in value?  OK, you need to get that picture out of your head.  Not how it works apparently.

The neo-keynesian ponzi is the gift that keeps on giving.  Who needs Santa when we have this clusterfuck that gives us high octane dollars to spend into an economy that doesn't value precious metals what so ever because a bunch of PhD assholes say it isn't money and has no value while banks push the price down to deter anyone from buying it - because people have the intellect of a herd and only buy things that go "up".

Never before have we been able to get precious metal in such an easy fashion.  Vikings used to die in battle for a chest of silver.  Conquistadores would go head first into the Brazillian rainforest for months only to walk out with an ounce of gold (if they survived the ordeal).  Miners would live in the South Dakota hills for months at a time fighting Indians and bears, not to mention each other, for a few ounces of the color.  And all we have to do is to take a waded up piece of paper that equals in our time an hours worth of mindless work and go to a store.

This thanksgiving, this is what I'm thankful for.

Hitlery_4_Dictator's picture

It's all fun and games until they outlaw it.

Soul Glow's picture

Outlaw what?  The coins they mined?  Oh you mean like in 1933.  When people trusted the government so everybody turned in the bullion.  Sure, that's going to happen again.  Because everyone trusts the government so much.

I can see it now.  FEMA coming door to door asking everyone if they have any gold.

"No.  No gold here."

And then rumors starting about how FEMA isn't actually after gold, but guns, and then the FEMA officers are met with rifles and shotguns and told to GTFO.

Yeah, gold confiscation is going to go easy for the government in 2017.  Perfect way for Trump to be re-elected too.

DrData02's picture

Nobody is going to meet law enforcement with rifles and shotguns. Or, more accurately, one or two are going to do this and die in their doorways. The LEOs will get 10 days admin leave and go back to work.

It's nice to have a dream (like yours of resistance), but reality is the real bitch.

ThanksChump's picture

At YOUR shack maybe. No backbones in that part of the world.

FEMA would run out of people 3 days in. They'd just disappear.

Dollar making 13 year highs -- what happened to the IMMINENT hyperinflation, predicted here on a daily basis?

My prediction posted here dozens of times over the years -- the dollar will get STRONGER each time there is financial chaos around the world.  As long as italy, spain, france are on the ropes, scared money comes into USD assets.  Right now it's china sucking wind.

If you don't understand this, you've learned nothing from reading ZH.  Go to the yahoo gold forums and stay away.

You people are all bullshitters, pretending your gold is a long term investment.  But really you cry at every penny it goes down.  You are just investment losers, whining just like the faggot children in the streets of blue states right now.

Yes, I have some gold and silver, because some day fiat ponzi dies.  Not until all those other weaker economies "go greece" and have their hard crash.  Decades away.

will someone explain to me why there's a $15 difference between a 1oz panda vs philharmonic?

tungsten replies unnessary.

Dr. Venkman's picture

Are the Pandas more expensive? They are pretty popular thus demand would explain it.

WillyGroper's picture

cheaper.

being four 9's vs an eagle 91.67 purity & premiums by dealers, unless it's cuz china got ft. knox, i'm too thick to get it.

SoilMyselfRotten's picture

Not to mention the new Pandas are 30g instead of the usual 1 oz'ers being 33g.

Dr. Venkman's picture

interesting. I don't like that at all.

My Au purchases have slowed dramatically with the birth of my son. If prices continue to go down I might have to reconsider.

WillyGroper's picture

thanks.

guess an oz is not an oz by some weights & measures.

explains the purity.

Pesky Labrador's picture

Actually, the new Panda's are only 30g now.

Not My Real Name's picture

Purity is not the reason.

Both the panda and eagle contain one troy ounce of gold. When you consider the eagle's metal content includes 5.3% silver by weight, it actually has more precious metal content than the panda.

doomchild's picture

Are these prices being quoted on apmex.com ?

I think sometimes there is a premium set on the gold round based on the market demand for that particular brand. It could simply be that there are more buyers for the philharmonics than the pandas just because of the brand hence the $15 premium.

WillyGroper's picture

there's a disparity like this most of the time.

Herodotus's picture

The best priced coins are the Mexican 50 peso (1.2057 oz.) and the Austrian 100 Corona (0.9802 oz.).  These have the lowest premium/oz.

It's as if at 57 prop trading desks, in a dozen separate trading departments, small groups of human traders conferred with their co-workers, and decided NOW was the time to sell!

Either that or the mother ship sent out a synchronized signal to the robo-trading machines to take everything down!
