For yet another year, Black Friday has started off with a (deadly) bang, and as CBS reports, police are investigating a shooting outside of a South Jersey mall on Black Friday. It happened early this morning in South Jersey outside of the Macys department store at the Hamilton Mall, near Atlantic City. CBS 3’s Trang Do reports one person has died in the shooting.
“It’s sad,” said one shopper on the scene of the shooting.”We’ve been doing this, me and my girls for probably about ten years now, just for the fun of going out–a girls night and trying to get some special sales and it’s getting scary now.”
“It’s a tragedy…It’s very scary you know, you’re starting off the holiday season and you’re excited about the upcoming times with family and now there’s going to be family who are missing people and their holidays will never be the same,” said another shopper.
Dozens of shell casings are scattered around a bullet riddled silver SUV in the parking lot of the mall. The Hamilton Township Police Department has not provided any further information.
The good news: the mall was scheduled to open at 6 a.m.

At best it will reduce ownership of such weapons by law-abiding citizens. The criminals will not obey such laws and will continue regardless.

I'd say this is a pretty good reason to stay away. Depraved people that would shoot other people over "stuff". Thanks, US education system, big corporations and communists for helping to shape their thinking.
Not just possible violence, but guaranteed hassle, crowds, chaotic and poorly designed parking lots, door dings, fender-benders, people stepping on your feet and running into with their carts as they stare at their phones. Really, it's like Sartre's "No Exit" except with shopping carts.
I think a critical mass of people have decided it's just not worth it or fun enough to do anymore. "Black Friday" is a fad that's past its expiration date. When only desperate people show up for an unlikely chance at a sale price on a low-quality item, it's not even pulling demand forward; it's just a carnival for freaks, much less a way to extract more profits.
