'Footloose' Comes To Brussels - Europe Unleashes "Dance Tax"

Tyler Durden's picture

"Everybody cut loose".. but be prepared to pay for it in Europe. As Martin Armstrong notes, if you dance in a bar in Brussels, you must pay a tax!

The patrons of Bonnefooi, a cafe in the center of Brussels, last week received a visit from a City inspector.

The inspector asked them to pay the “tax dance.” Yes you read correctly. Brussels has a “dancing tax” written in the 50´s and as the government needs money, they have “revitalized” this tax since 2014

For every customer who dances in a bar the owner has to pay €0.40 per night.  They sent incognito civil servants to uphold this law.

There is an endless supply of old laws still on the books that have not been enforced, yet could be to raise money. In Florida, you are not allowed to have construction workers around on weekends. In some states, old laws required you to pull your car off the road if it frightened a horse. If the horse was still terrified, you were required to dissemble your car until the horse was calm.

They tried outlawing condoms back in the 1950s. That went to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1965 under Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), where the Supreme Court ruled that a state’s ban on the use of contraceptives violated the right to marital privacy. The case concerned a Connecticut law that criminalized the encouragement or use of birth control. Since the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare as a tax, anything goes. They can put a special tax on condoms and get away with that one and rake in billions.

Welcome to the world of collapsing socialism. This is where government get's to rip us all off to survive.

People just need to revitalize the old practice of tarring and feathering, and these asswipe politicians will fall into line.

Next step is crises, it will only take up to six weeks to bring a country to the verge of crisis. And after crises with the violent change of power structure and economy. You have the period of so called 'normalization'. It may last indefinetely

exposure to true information does not matter anymore a person whom is demoralized is unable to asses true information, the facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, documents, pictures. Even if I take him by force to show him the FEMA camps he will refuse to believe it until he is recieving a kick in his fat bottom. When the military boot crushes his balls THAN he will understand!

Socialists are unique, it takes a special kind of obsessive tyrannical stupidity to be one and I would just like to say one more word about that great socialist shining light (Castro) before he fades from everyones memory.

He had an entire island (in the Caribbean no less...lol) under his control, he still couldn't make it work for over half a century. To add to this indignity, he died on a Black Friday, the very worst day of capitalist excess. To complete his bone grinding humiliation, the final cosmic slap (perhaps?), the vehicle carrying his ashes around the countryside that everyone on the island was forced to view, broke down in the middle of the road...lol.

Now, who says God doesn't have a sense of humor? ;-)

Cuba could have been the Macau of the west, the go-to destination for the worlds mega-yachts, party central for the world and the whole island swimming in money, rich beyond belief but the boot of corrupt progressive tyranny on everyone's neck damn sure did a good job of keeping that from happening.

The progressive stupid, it burns.

My admittedly limited knowledge of pre-revolutionary Cuba suggests that Cuba was the Macau of the Caribbean, which was exactly why the revolution happened. Life was outstanding for the mega-rich, who had no laws, taxes or other inconveniences to get in their way. For the peons, life had absolutely no value, except as slaves, sex-toys and-or both.

Hence the enthusiasm for taking back that which had been stolen from them, and an aversion to allowing any more rich elite. As with all communist systems, a new elite rose up to take their place, but you can understand the reasoning behind wanting to have a scumbag-free existence. Pity it only nearly worked. Complete excommunication by the western world didn't help either.

I appreciate that Communist Cuba wasn't brilliant, but feel free to accept that at least some of the blame for that might fall on the shoulders of the US, both before and after the revolution. Your problem with that is that you have a lifetime of propaganda to overcome, regarding who was the real enemy, and who was to blame.

Just wait until they try and tax square dances, clogging, & hoe downs in this country. Then you'll know the revolution is imminent.

PT's picture

There will come a time when people come to realize that they are not taxed for this or that reason.  They are taxed because they are weak and don't fight back.

jaxville's picture

I doubt it.  There will be lots of comments on ZH and other similar sites.  Until people finally understand that we don't need "them", them being government; nothing will change.  Some will grumble, some will stop dancing (it's the establishments who are taxed and there may be cost/benefit analysis) and the rest will accept it.

There is growing awareness and I am optimistic for the long term but the dance tax will come before real liberty does.

I can relate Yuri, my life long best friend is blind to the obvious.
I have prepared to support him and his family even though he refuses to move from his position that gov, mic, and forced collectivism are the way to a good society. He is a good honest man, just weak minded and easily brainwashed. I will continue to show him the reality of today's world because he is my brother!

Good luck, demoralization process in USA is very effective and is in it's final stage.

DanDaley's picture

Like Reagan said, "It's not that liberals are bad people, it's just that what they know is wrong." I would have said brainwashed through 12 - 16 years of being exposed to progressive drivel through the education/indoctrination system (remember that up to 80% of teachers and professors are liberals / progressives / statists / socialists). Then it's not so hard to understand...and it falls in line very well with Yuri's analysis.

The problem is fear.  To see what is happening is too painful, so they will not see.  I have this issue here at home.  Heads in the sand is the safe place to be.

I call it escapism the result of fear, living in their little tiny autistic worlds denying reality. Until the bubble pops and they are desoriented like little ants ready to be crushed.

Bauer family are just useful bankers, they pave way for false messiah at mount zion.

Ignatius's picture

The bankers are expert/criminal at privatizing the public's capital.

Before people blame socialism we should ask why we are paying interest to the bankers for public capital?    I suspect that it is the necessity to make these debt payments that leads to the invocation of such a ridiculous tax.

DjangoCat's picture

"ask why we are paying interest to the bankers for public capital?"

True that.  Time for a Jubilee.  Stop payment.

That's a 'no brainer'. The Roths just make bets on both sides of the coin, with other peoples money, which they then relieve the 'winner' of. No cost, no stress, no counter party. If you write the rules ...

It's them picking off the lone dissenters. If every bar in Belgium simply agreed not to pay one red centime to allow dancing, it would be unenforceable. It's the fact that most pay, and a few don't, that allows them to prosecute the loners.

How would ANY law be enforced if everyone simply ignored it? If no one showed up for the draft or paid taxes? They know the control of hive mind is Priority One. Once they lose that and people en mass begin to disobey, it's GAME OVER, MAN! Nuked from low orbit...

tuetenueggel's picture

They grab one out of those who ignore them laws, punish him/her and show it in TV.

They´ll tell your neighbour those are communists or pedos and you´d pay or lose your job ?

Got it ? So politics in Europe nowadays is made. No big difference to NAZI -times

during which brother accused father and sister mother. In DDR it was just the same..

Only if you´re really and totally independent you can resist them criminals.
