Where People Trust The News Most (And Least)

Tyler Durden's picture

With Facebook rolling out new Soros-sponsored features designed to tackle the spread of 'fake news' across America, we thought it worth looking at just how trusted (or not) the media are around the rest of the world...

Infographic: Where People Trust The News Most And Least | Statista
You will find more statistics at Statista

The Reuters Institute For The Study Of Journalism recently released a report showing that trust levels in news vary hugely by country. As Statista's Niall McCarthy notes, trust is highest in affluent Western European nations, primarily due to the presence of well-funded public service broadcasters.

65 percent of people in Finland agreed that "you can trust most news most of the time".

In the United States, the epicenter of the fake news storm, trust was far lower at just 33 percent.

looks good when nearly 70% in the U.S. no longer trust these treasonous fucks in the "main stream" fake news.  Things are looking up.

I am not surprised to see my native Canaduh high on that list. Some of the most devout sheeple on Earth.

What the hell does the Finnish press have to lie about? Reindeer? The Laaps? Seriously, I would think that Lichtenstein or Andorra would top the list. Nothing ever happens there.

As far as the American press goes, this rings my Bullshit-o-meter. There is no way that 33% of Americans believe the US press, at least not after this election cycle. Oh yeah, that's right, this is another George Soros disinformation operation. Whoops! Never mind...

HedgeJunkie's picture

That 33% represents the entire snowflake generation.  And it's going to drop quite a bit once Trump, and adults, re-institutionalizing physical dicipline. The old "Board of Education" will return.

that sure is a narrow sample -- where is africa?  mid east?  etc?

I think old people are the only ones still watching "The News"

You are an idiot.  I've never raised a hand to my children, and they are the most inquisitive, creative, and interesting people I know.  Of course that could be because we home school and treat them like people and not inconveniences.  Sending our kids into indoctrination centers is why you have this phenomenon, not lack of physical duress.

gregga777's picture

The vast majority of the fake news is written and sourced by the CIA (Central Insanity Agency) and spewed like sewage by the CMSM (Conporate Mainstream Propaganda Media).

The reporters were too stupid to realize that he was being sarcastic in the face of their supidity. I would guess that Syria and Russia have some bargaining chips. Thanks for the link WTFRLY

Thank you. That was an important link that everyone should see.

One suggestion to have more people view the link: Place the direct youtube link instead of an HTML link as people do not know where the link will lead them to.

Syrian Ambassador to U.N. Reads Names of Spies and Intelligence Agents Trapped in East Aleppo

(Saudi, American, Israeli, Jordanian, etc)

gregga777's picture

I wonder what that worthless POS Department of War Crimes spokesman John Kirby has to say about the American and allied Intelligence (sic) and military officers trapped in Aleppo.

Retired US Navy Admiral and US Department of War Crimes spokes-scumbag John Kirby is typical of the do-nothing REMFs infesting the United States Armed Forces and the Pentagon. He never flew a Navy warplane or commanded a squadron or air wing. He never commanded a warship, squadron, battle group or fleet. He never did anything except to excel at flapping his lying lips spewing BS. Yet he like many others rose to the rank of admiral (general for the other services). The US Armed Forces are infested with these do-nothing REMFs. They are a very significant detractor to overall US military capabilities and readiness.

This weekend the Russian command in Syria turned over to UN experts samples of mustard gas and unexploded shells fired at the Syrian army.  Looks like our moderate opposition is committing war crimes.  This topic is anathema for our Lame Stream Media.

Thanks for that link WTFRLY, that Syrian Ambassabor is great!

Hope they do catch the interlopers and parade them in front of the pansy presstitutes.

What a hoot!

I'm thinking they inflated those numbers.

But then again trust is not given lightly by me or my kind.

Lore's picture

Answering such a poll honestly strikes me as foolish.  I know damn well that others think alike.  The poll is fluff.

It's sad to step back and consider how far things have regressed.  I think of a conversation a few years ago with a very nice old fellow in his late 90s -- quite sharp, with vivid memories of WW2 -- who finished a conversation about current affairs with the statement that "One thing we can always be thankful for in this country is media and journalism that we can trust."  I snickered.  His face changed, and he looked at me like I just stole something valuable.  "Oh dear," he said. We never got to finish the conversation, because I dropped him off at his house and he died a few months later.

Can  I just say that I am extremely proud of my Greek neighbours. Mind you, I have seen their news, and 20% is an impressive success rate - I would have expected it to be much lower.

I don't have a TV licence and I don't have the TV box, I routinely avoid Free propaganda "newspapers" or paid for.

I cross reference with foreigners (all across the Globe) what is happenig in their country. The results are amazing. I am confident to tell you even the muzzies are mostly aware, ( I do do  some input).

Not so important. Finland has an excellent education system based on intelligence, common sense and critical thinking. And a skeptical population. Think Linux!

Not like the US, where the educational level of Americans is to be compared to the worse among deveoped countries. Canada is among the highest. Most Americans have difficult in reading and understanding longer sentences !

Bear in mind, they don't want to be without them thar Cuban see-garz whenever the Polar Vortex invades. I love most Canadian liquors and have lived in the Upper Midwest, so I totally "get" this. It's a must-have when a nasty-ass blizzard decides to cancel your college classes for nearly a week, and the guys running the liquor stores have a generally-better attitude about shit in general than those here in Oklahoma! I for one can hardly wait for stores to carry the good shit come October, 2018.

With that said, although their people are really nice and make fantastic friends, too many Canadians simply don't "get" the realities of 'Murica. Being armed as an individual does come with responsibilities (unless you're a city outlaw thug) yet it generally provides Peace of Mind when the cops or sheriff are minutes away and you or your loved ones simply can't AFFORD said wait times. Would gun freedom work within Canada? Only their society can truly decide. At least they don't stick their noses in near as many pies as our naked Uncle Sam (with functional credit card) routinely and consistently does, so fewer from the outside are as pissed off. Still, there's a Trust but Verify thing that's a survival skill.

(On phone with nine-eleven) "What the fuck? You tell me the cops are tied up and can't come here?" So I just become collateral damage when the shit truly hits the fan. This is likely the true reality of many Americans, unarmed and too reliant on the government, whom decide to tough it out where it's truly dog-eat-dog, because the bad guys want what you have, yet not appreciate what they steal. It becomes that sexual high they can't resist. The true ZeroHedge of Human Existence realized without an equalizer. 'Nuff said!

Canada is a great place to live.  Too bad its full of brain dead lefties who believe absolutely everything that some authority figure or telivision host tells them.   As long as she (there are no Men in TV or .gov in Canada any longer.)   declares that more government and just a little bit more tax will solve every problem Canadians willl lap it up like a kitten with a bowl of warm milk.   Just as long as somebody else picks up the tab of course.  Unfortunately Canadians never look at their kids as that somebody else.
