71% Of Americans Don't Believe Russia Was Responsible For Election-Related Hacks

Tyler Durden's picture

The mainstream media has orchestrating a month-long propaganda blitz to convince the American people that "Russian hackers," led by Vladimir Putin, stole the election from Hillary Clinton.  They endlessly quoted "anonymous sources" from inside the CIA, while never actually presenting a single shred of tangible evidence, to advance their narrative.

But, in an epic illustration of just how little credibility the mainstream media has, despite their best efforts, over 70% of the American public still doesn't think Russia influenced the 2016 election. Per a new poll conducted by Morning Consult, only 29% of Americans feel they "know with near certainty that Russia is responsible" for the hacking of DNC and Podesta emails...of course, we would question how anyone could possibly know with "near certainty" given that no actual evidence has been presented but we'll take their word for it.

Russia Influence

Not surprisingly, results were largely split along party lines with only 14% of Republicans attributing the election hacks to Russia versus 50% of Democrats.

Meanwhile, "Democrats in Congress" won the prize for the "least trusted" group in Washington D.C. while the CIA, NSA and FBI are still viewed as credible organizations by nearly two-thirds of Americans...so much for Snowden's efforts to reveal the massive illegal spy operations conducted by the NSA on pretty much every American citizen on a daily basis...no one seems to care much anymore.

Morning Consult Poll

So, does this story now qualify as "fake news" given that the mainstream media failed to present a single page of tangible evidence and 71% of Americans don't believe it?

WTF? Critical thinking?

JungleCat's picture

I'm one of the 71%, so clearly Russia used some kind of borscht waves to hack my brain.

Can't have that - I'm wearing my tin foil nightcap 24/7 from now on.

Son of Loki's picture

Americans are pretty dumb but this election shows they have developed some solid common sense.

Paul Kersey's picture

Americans are right not to believe an exposed liar for Deep State. Consider that Clapper is the main source of the Russian hacking tale. Here's what Jeffrey Pfeffer, professor of organizational behavior at Stanford University, had to say about clapper back in October of 2015, before the Russian yarn broke:

“James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, when asked about whether or not national intelligence agencies were intercepting communications from American citizens, didn’t tell the truth, as we learned from Edward Snowden. And, by the way, Mr. Clapper still has his job.”

J S Bach's picture

I would dearly like to know what percentage of Americans are grateful to those responsilbe for the election-related hacks.  I sure am.  Without the hacks, many would not have become aware just how corrupt and evil the witch actually is.  (Many of the more astute already knew.)

smithcreek's picture

Even my northeast liberal friends think the whole Russian boogeyman thing is a bridge too far.

Save_America1st's picture

and then add another 20 more percent and then add 80 percent of the rest of the western world... and growing as the sheeptards wake the fuck up..

Four chan's picture

29% of americans are fucking retards.

Rabbi Chaim Cohen's picture

That is likely a low number given  the the constraint of this particular poll question. Sadly, I think it might be less than 29% that actually have a solid grasp of history and current events. Fewer still are able and willing to act appropriately in the face of an imminent threat. Most p(sh)eople simply swallow any comfortable meme and treat almost any written article as irrefutable fact without regard to the source and without bothering to consider the other side of the story.

Rabbi Chaim Cohen's picture

This kind of sloppy, overwrought vilification is disgustingly obvious and familiar to anyone with even a cursory knowledge of history.

Looking at Trump's latest cabinet picks from the Goldman Sachs line-up, the banksters may have been responsible for the "hacks".  Clinton was a distraction, IMHO.

I, for one, have been a stute since 1992. Glad to see so many other stutes finally sharing my opinion.

They are move away from old media influence to self thought...

Right critical thinking means questioning.. Anyone who just reads zerohedge all day and agrees with all of it isn't thinking critically, but just consuming radical news and blindly buying it... A bit is true, most is not... I look forward to your ironic down votes

Liberally delivered! And I didn't even think twice about it.

Right there with ya man! +1 downvote.

*The Trump Effect*

The good news is that not many people are buying it..even the sheeple are seeing through it. The haste and desperation they have to blame Russia on everything has only woken more sheeple up.

You see, they were totally unprepared for Trump victory and had no contingency plan if Hillary lost. They were 100% absolutely convinced that they had the election sown up such was their overweening arrogance and hubris.

What you are seeing now is hastily put together hodge podge of outlandish, tin foil, nutty , childish and really, really stupid conspiracies concerning the Russians. It is so bizzarre and incredible that even the most deeply conditioned, inculcated and indoctrinated brain dead moron is able to discern that something isn't right about the whole thing.

Their reckless behaviour has only proven to be counter productive as their actions are having the opposite effect as intended.  It really is hilarious and fascinating at the same time. History is in the making without a doubt.

The MSM , Neo Cons and CIA will soon end up being a dried up piece of camel shit in the desert of history.

Uncertain T's picture

The common people, having been called names for 8 years, realize that they are not racists, homophones, islamaphobes, or whatever the media is throwing at them daily.   They know they are not those things when the media tells them that they are.

Given that truth, they begin to discover more and more lies.  They question the media on more things.  It's all downhill for the MSM now.

larz's picture

Hence the war on "fake news"   the whole concept of fake news is ridiculous.    Reset over due

underman's picture

Want truth?  It's opposite of MSM headlines.  And polls and surveys are absolutely worthless.

Teamtc321's picture

71% of Americans know HRC and the Libtard clan are completely full of shit.....

Ms. Erable's picture

...and 29% are complete fucking morons.

FreedomGuy's picture

But 95% of the press does believe it was the Russians.

Dilluminati's picture

What is truly frightening is those who believe the russians did.

I mean there are some genuinely stupid inner city voters out there who get their news from CNN.

I mean these same voters don't buy allot as consumers, can't charge stuff on their freedom cards at the grocery store, but those dumb fucks believe damn near anything.

refill6times's picture

True to all you wrote.

I said a while back that the 2020 election will be done in hindsight.

The "gaslighting" began on Nov 9 2016 and will not stop.

Yes, this narrative about the fake news will not stop until election day in Nov 2020 when we are blinded and twitching in the booth, mumbling that the regime must change.

The democrats will not stop this shit for the next four years.

Please, large comet, with haste...

I'd feel better if more than 63% of Americans could find Russia on a map

cbxer55's picture

The ones who can't find it on a map, are the ones who went to school smelling like a bad case of Reefer Madness. ;-)

I've always been fast to say that I did that as well. But for Oh short a time. Couldn't stand the way my teachers, especially Mr. Wilson in Government class, looked at me. That look that said, "you of all people no better than this". And you know what, they were right.

Citizen G's picture

C'mon man.... it's the one that looks like a boot......

cbxer55's picture

Really? That's kind of small for Russia! We're gonna need a bigger boot!  ;-)

FreedomGuy's picture

I believe I saw the stat once that about 70% of American high school, students cannot find America on a map. Russia would have to be far behind, much less the Ukraine or Aleppo.

cbxer55's picture

Never believed it for a minute myself. I truly believe Assange when he said the source is leaks from inside our very own country. Leaks and hacks are two entirely different things. And there is just no way the election was hacked. A leak is far easier to believe.

Tom Green Swedish's picture

Of course not.  There was absolutely no monetray benefit in it for them. Why would they even waste their time.  It would have been better for Hillary to be president for them.  That way they can continue to fuck up the world like they want.

Bunga Bunga's picture

Come on, Putin just hacked that poll.

navy62802's picture

LOL. So 29% of the United States doesn't bother with critical thinking. That's almost as high as the percentage of US citizens who are fully employed (38.9%). That's a pretty good fucking joke!

SillySalesmanQuestion's picture

My God! Us Deplorables, have gone from just 50% before the election, to 71%...

MsCreant's picture

"Basket case" takes on a new meaning.

That basket is getting full, come to think of it.

He's not heavy, he's in my basket.

What a weird thing to even think of saying, a basket of deplorables. It's just bad writing. Why run with that?

Jim in MN's picture

Totally should have been 'bucket of deplorables'.

Like...uh....littleneck clams.

Much better.

francis scott falseflag's picture

Bushel of Deplorables at least has some some attempt at alliteration.

(take note Jim in MN)

Citizen G's picture

My common sense tells me the dope was leaked by Eric braverman or Seth rich, or both. Our government would have to tell us the truth for at least a century to gain the people's trust again, I don't think we will be around that long.

thegekko's picture

Funny, 71 percent is awfully close to the same percentage of the American population that thought Hillary Clinton was dishonest &/or untrustworthy, which was 69 percent

MsCreant's picture

Guys... doesn't anyone edit?

Hag, Hillary is an election related hag. But Russia is not responsible for her either.

The Iconoclast's picture

We're lying just like we always have but people aren't believing us anymore.  OMG what has happened?  There's only one thing to do.  Lie more, of course.

francis scott falseflag's picture

There's always the military coup.

rudyspeaks's picture

"So, does this story now qualify as "fake news"?   Um, no. Just shitty reporting. I SO wanted to cite this article until I realized its author was too..[  ]..to include the fuc-ing SAMPLE SIZE! Since the polling organization is unknown I can't even assume competence based on past performance. Why can't ANYONE do her/his job professionally any more? Sooo...what have we learned, class? Yes! Reporting on polls ALWAYS requires a mention of the sample's size! // BTW, I don't doubt the assertion is true...I hope it is. I'll be looking for some REAL evidence.

soyungato's picture

The problem is the 29% who believed . That is a lot of very stupid people in the US of A,  93.7 million people to be exact !!!

onmail1's picture

I have a presumption that:
Its CIA that creates ALL the fake news
for the consumption of the ENTIRE western world
and its allies
