"It Finally Happened": Trump Thanks Fiat And Ford For Investing In The US, Adding New Jobs

Tyler Durden's picture

Having succeeded in turning around Ford's plans to invest $1.6 billion in Mexico last week, and converting it into a US-targeted investment into the US last week, after similar twitter-based confrontations with Toyota and GM also last week, moments ago Trump tweeted his thanks to Fiat which as reported last night, also announced plans to invest $1 billion in Ohio plants, adding some 2,000 jobs.

"It's finally happening - Fiat Chrysler just announced plans to invest $1BILLION in Michigan and Ohio plants, adding 2000 jobs. This after Ford said last week that it will expand in Michigan and U.S. instead of building a BILLION dollar plant in Mexico. Thank you Ford & Fiat C!"

Having used his Twitter "bully pulpit" successfully so far to change corporate capital allocation plans, it is unlikely that Trump will end his "shaming" of pulbic companies now, and will likely double down on his aggressive approach to push more investment in the US.

Fiat  is better than you think. You can expect electrical and corrosion problems,

but not much more. Engines and gearboxes are long lasting.

For the price its a honest product.

What is most disturbing is that only ZH'ers and a few others understand that purchasing power has been systematically eroded since 1913 as a mechanism to keep the peons slaves of the elite banksters.

'Look Who's in Office, Just in Time for War with Iran...

President-elect Donald Trump has surrounded himself with not only pro-Israeli hardliners like David Friedman, but also a circle who have - for years - advocated war with Iran including Breitbart News' Stephen Bannon and retired US Marine Corps General James Mattis.

A similar circle of policymakers would undoubtedly have accompanied 2016 US presidential candidate and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton into office as well had she won the election - her time as US Secretary of State being consumed with the destruction of Libya and Syria, prerequisites for this very conflict.'...

Never corner your enemies.  Always leave them a small means of escape.  (otherwise they fight back too hard).

You could well be right, or he is just trying to stop them kicking too hard until the 21st.  Neither answer will surprise me.  Time will tell.

They do a lot of that in NY, it's some kind of NY thing.

Probably got it from the Italians.

Don't know where you guys are from, but 'round these parts that 'masonic hand gesture' is known as the 'okay' signal.  When scuba diving thumbs up means to surface, so to avoid confusion it is used exclusively to communicate approval.  It's also used to emphasize points when speaking, but it comes of as pedantic and dismissive so its use is unusual among the general public, but people in positions of authority often use it.

I can be awfully conspiratorial, but this one astounds me.  Seriously, have none of you done this very gesture?  BTW, Masons also like candles...  Holy crap, is the 'flamin' part of your pseudonym a nod to the masonic tradition of using candles in ritual?  lol  ;)

PT's picture

It's also a common public-speaking technique of settling your nerves when in front of a crowd.  But who knows?  Maybe the Freemasons own all the public speaking courses.

So many symbols, polygons, hand shapes, numbers etc supposedly are masonic that it is hard to imagine constructing a universe without them.  Not denying what they are or their strange prevalence, just saying.

Well- he did pump trillions of debt  into a moribund economy to give things a semblance of economic normalcy- what Orange Jesus will probably do as well. Plus the Fed artificially suppressed Interest  rates for a while. As Hawk Harrelson would say "This ballgame is o-vah"
